backfills to 2004 and yeah, TPL and ERIE both showed up strongest in roughly the last month
Ran your four through the same pull. ERIE is the clean one — Elizabeth Vorsheck is the buyer, and she is going in 1,000 to 4,000 share blocks, which fits your "bigger mode = real accumulation, not just signal" read. CTSH I only caught a single insider buy in the recent filings, about 4,000 shares. LEG and PPG were the surprise. In the recent stretch of Form 4s I pulled, LEG had no open-market buys at all — all grants and option stuff — and PPG only turned up two tiny ones, like 2 and 8 shares from one insider. That could easily just be my window being shallower than yours, though; those names file a ton of Form 4s so my recent sample only reaches back a few weeks. How far back is your api looking? Curious whether the one-share names all cluster in a particular window.
nice, thanks for pulling the actual filings. yeah those match what im seeing. if you want to check others, the tickers where the pattern is loudest are TPL, and to a lesser degree LEG and PPG. quieter versions on ERIE and CTSH. the ones with mode-size 100 or 1000 instead of 1 are honestly more interesting to me, those actually look like accumulation not signal.
ELV,health insurance for most americans. TPG corporate real estate, T phone, WEN food. ERIE car and home insurance, RDN mort insurance, and CSX trains
Cautiously....the S&P has a habit of top ticking hype lately. Look at TPL, SMCI, ERIE....
Ones on my watch list that I haven’t taken the plunge on: MLI (mueller industrials- makes copper plumbing materials among other things ) V (visa) ONDS (onidas- a drone manufacturer) ERIE (Erie insurances company) Djco (daily journal- Charlie mungers holding company) PGR (progressive insurance) WM (waste management ) Ones I own I’d consider more of: AEM (agnico eagle mines- Canadian gold miner) RNMBY (rheinmetall- European defense manufacturing) CVX- (chevron oil)
ERIE $400 calls Aug 15. Earnings tomorrow. Expecting a dud from the cyber incident + revenue finally materializing from rate increases over last 12 months. 10% moves are nothing for this stock. But the calls while vol is low
Why buy one stock when you could buy all the stocks. Thats your real winner. Statistically it’s your best bet to give you like a 10% return. Just buy shares of SPY or VOO. If you want a single stock that is almsot guaranteed to get you a good return: BRK.B. It’s a bit beaten up but it’s a stock that will likely do well even if the market tumbles, maybe especially so, but it’s not gonna skyrocket. Tsmc makes All the ai chips and is trading for a nice value and you’ll make a good profit as long as China doesn’t invade Taiwan (a real risk). They make all the ai chips. Or google… they have lost an antitrust suit, ai might eat their search revenue, but YouTube is killing it and Waymo realistically is more likely to do what Tesla promises. It’s so big though you’re unlikely to 10x If you want a stock with MORE risk than that you need to look at small companies. They’re the ones you’re likely to make big gains on. <1 billion market cap. WEST or ERIE maybe, or ZIM. If you want more risk than that , go to wallstreet bets but understand you’re way more likely to loose everything
ERIE Major Ransomware Attack ❗️❗️
Important reminder: ERIE isn't stock in the insurance company. It's stock in the company that manages the insurance exchange for Erie Indemnity. Erie Indemnity had a security event, but the management company probably didn't (at least not publicly).
So… $ERIE just announced a “Information Security Event” and has had a total network shutdown since Saturday. Their systems have been completely down for 5 days straight and no information about when they’ll be back up. The stock has barely moved. No news on any stock screener I see, just some local news reporting. No SEC filing either although I suppose they technically have until Friday EOD to report something. I bought a small amount of PUTs just in case, lol.
Higher rates are generally good for insurance companies since they can earn more on their float. However, inflation can be bad because they pay out claims on higher prices. This usually evens out as rates play catch up, but short term can be rough. Important to remember that ERIE isn't the actual insurance company, but the company that manages the trust. It's sort of unique in that way, but it doesn't always move with other insurance names.
ERIE taking a beating, back to lows. Bad climate for insurance companies?
My portfolio was set up with the tariffs in mind with international, utilities, a cell phone tower REIT, consumer staples, and the like. I also had some Mag 7 and other tech stocks with a lot of financial stocks. When tech is doing good, everything else is down and vice versa. I’ve just been selling what’s green on a tech rally and averaging down on the defensive stocks I want to keep long term through this clown show lol. Every now and then I’ll pick up a “defensive stock” after an earnings call when “defensive stocks” are already down. Picked up ERIE today. Did the same for FI as a tech stock that got hammered for their earnings call. If I have to hold these types of stocks for months or years, I’m okay with that. But I feel like I got in at a nice entry point and they won’t be dead in the water because tariffs bankrupt them. Most of my portfolio was geared to hold long term that I would be okay with taking it to retirement, but I’m having some fun with this volatility before going back into ETFs and dividend focus stocks.
Erie Indemnity Company (NASDAQ: ERIE) today announced financial results for the quarter ending March 31, 2025. Net income was $138.4 million, or $2.65 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2025, compared to $124.6 million, or $2.38 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2024.
I don’t do commercial insurance at this moment, but I have heard great things about the Hartford. $ERIE also does commercial and I think they’re great at that as well
Insurance is underrated.. I’m in the industry and the two best companies are $PGR and $ERIE from my personal experience
ERIE, PEP, MDLZ, AES, HRML, JNJ, NFG, HESM. I moved all of my S&P 500 INTO CASH APP 6080. I'm up 1.5% on dividend aristocrats this year.
ERIE $500 calls. Erie is low beta, low vol, low float and highly shorted
25 more ERIE 3/21 $500 calls yolo
$ERIE 3/21 25 $500 calls for $0.82. Might buy some more. Stock at $450 right now, up 15% in a 233k, only needs to go up 11% to be ITM. Insanely low volume stock, crazy whiplashes b/c of algo trading and a known short seller SpruceCap has a short position. This thing could go to the moon.
I have found plenty of small names that do great. Thanks! Also, a lot more opportunity for mispricing than in big names. Why are small stocks a trash bin? Also, thinly traded stocks can frequently be great performers. Look at TPL, ERIE, UFPT, HWKN, USLM.....
Grabbed some NU premarket. Also looking to add MELI, VRTX, ERIE, NMIH, and ODD to existing holdings.
ERIE news: The Board agreed to maintain the current management fee rate paid to Erie Indemnity Company by Erie Insurance Exchange at 25 percent, effective Jan. 1, 2025. The management fee rate was 25 percent for the period Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2024. The Board has the authority under the agreement with the subscribers (policyholders) at Erie Insurance Exchange to set the management fee rate at its discretion; however, the maximum fee rate permissible by the agreement is 25 percent. This action was taken based on various factors including consideration and review of the relative financial positions of Erie Insurance Exchange and Erie Indemnity Company. The Board also agreed to increase the regular quarterly cash dividend from $1.275 to $1.365 on each Class A share and from $191.25 to $204.75 on each Class B share. This represents a 7.1 percent increase in the payout per share over the current dividend rate. The next quarterly dividend is payable Jan. 22, 2025, to shareholders of record as of Jan. 7, 2025, with a dividend ex-date of Jan. 7, 2025.
Nice to see anyone else mention ERIE.
Added some NU at $12. Didn't get into things early enough today, but I'm happy with that. Added ERIE yesterday and a few more shares of NMIH.
I'm thinking this is a fear driven sell off. They're also past the date when they generally announce the management fee for next year, which is making it worse. The thing with ERIE... they're not changing the management company. All they do is negotiate the fee. It's an absolutely great business.
ERIE falling out of bed this morning. Not super cheap, but one of those unfollowed, really good businesses I can't shake my obsession with.
I don't think NU is overvalued. I own it and haven't even pondered trimming it. Even at $15. I'd happily add more around... actually, it's at pretty good technical support right now. You got me thinking... Also, tempted to buy ERIE, because I've wanted to own it for awhile and it's dipped hard, though still expensive. Like I said, always a decent amount of average buys, not a ton of great buys.
It appears that S&P almost perfectly top ticked TPL in adding it to the index. Pretty sure they did the same with SMCI. Also ERIE. Reminder that even VOO is technically actively managed (poorly)
New to all this but I did a quick number crunch on the last quarter's rebalance just to check it out. https://preview.redd.it/eoe0qymb1q1e1.png?width=895&format=png&auto=webp&s=d7563a739757d80b7250168dc32ea15ebef0676c Green means added to S&P. Red means removed. DELL and PLTR have continued to do well especially PLTR getting a huge jump from the election. ERIE fell off a cliff starting in October but had been pumped to all-time high before.
🎃 Things could get eerie for ERIE (see what I did there?). [Spruce Point just released a bear report on them](https://www.sprucepointcap.com/research/erie-indemnity-company). >Based on our investigation, we estimate a 35% - 55% downside risk, or approximately $217- $314 per share. $217- $314 per share. She's currently at $483. Read the report. It's not long. Consider this a lottery ticket for some puts down the line. That's it. Just a potential lottery ticket.
Is this about GME? PLEASE! That was one the first stocks I bought when I first joined this sub years ago. I had just gotten into investing and I lost more than $5K. With all of the great stocks out there, why would anyone invest in this one? Want to make money? Invest or buy calls on PLTR, NVDA, NVDL, HRTG, AVGO, RSI, ERIE, HOV, FN.... just to name a few.
PM expiring options can be exercised until 5:30 PM ET on the day of expiration, though the options themselves stop buying/selling at the 4:00 PM ET close of regular trading hours. The options premium on PLTR was so enticing for last week because it was IV inflated based on rumors of possible S & P inclusion, an event that's earnings-like in its effect on options premium and was scheduled to be confirmed just after market close on 9/6. PLTR was subsequently confirmed as being added, along with DELL and ERIE -- Replacing AAL, ETSY, and BIO -- and PLTR shares popped in after hours accordingly. Fortunately, your hit doesn't seem to be too bad, but this is the kind of possibility you should try to research/ become aware of when you buy or sell options contracts.
Please do this for SP 400 mid cap and SP 600 small cap. May work even better. Rotate to next biggest market cap once they move the company from small to mid, and mid to sp500. For mid, top 3 are IBKR, ERIE, and LII kinda interesting let's see please let me know

Not sure why, but I've become obsessed with ERIE (Erie Indemnity). The stock is for the lawyers that run the trust for the insurance pool. It's been volatile recently, but normally just grinds higher. Decent dividend, great returns on equity.
Anyone own/research ERIE (Erie Indemnity)? It's come up in a lot of screens for me and the company is really interesting. They basically get a few for running an insurance exchange. Hugely profitable and steady company. Lots of insider ownership.
Calls on CPA and ERIE if they close above 8ema
I appreciate you taking the time to reply here, can't imagine it's easy! Though, that ticker that has to go seems wonky AF! hahahaha Will focus on CINF, ERIE, and WRB. And tighten it up. Do I just edit it here and submit? Or should I send you a message before doing so? (By the way, I really can't tell you how much I appreciate the editorial insight. Editors make the world spin!!!)
