Right now Macy’s is mirroring Nordstrom. But EPS estimates are .82 and they usually deliver EPS under .50. Earnings are tomorrow and I am not sure if they will be as profitable as JWN because their business is a little different. Macys is not a luxury retailer and they sell more variety of products.

Similar look at the FL there's more bid side activity on puts from the 26th on with only 2 signicant bearish ask side purchases on puts.

The “idea” is that every stock price is fair market value with some future outlook priced in. Will MSFT or AAPL grow as fast as JWN? They have almost a 3T market cap so growing by 5-10% is adding a lot of value and that’s difficult to do at their size. For JWN, maybe they have had some downturn like most brick and mortar retail, but maybe they’re poised for a comeback? Who knows. You could say similar feelings about Target, Walmart
I like reading some comments on here. Very interesting. Anyways, I wanted to ask you guys something. I'm looking at JWN (Nordstrom) on Google. If you look at the behavior of the stock in the last 5 years, it has gone down and seems to be doing so so. My question is, why would someone why buy this stock vs say something like MSFT, Google (Alphabet), or AAPL or Vanguard Index? I'm trying to learn more so I can understand better.
I understand. I’ve traded AMD for about 40% in the last few months. I’m just saying that there still seems to be better options than a stock like JWN. DIS is good with the upside, but that’s also when I had it at 80. Still a potential 33% upside I see, but they need to get rid of all the stupid political crap. If they focused on making good entertainment, they would be 150+.
Both are cheap in my opinion. Not everyone on Reddit goes for TSLA, NIO, AMD- all of which has underperformed vs JWN so far in 2024 btw.
