Leveraged ETFs that move in the OPPOSITE direction from the underlying asset are generally paired with an ETF that is equally leveraged that is moving in the SAME direction as the underlying asset. Companies offer both options because they make money when people buy the ETF. They don't really care which of the two ETFs wins. So for instance T-Rex has a 2x leveraged fund called MSTU which moves in the SAME direction as the underlying asset MSTR. And T-Rex has a INVERSE 2x leveraged fund called MSTZ which moves in the OPPOSITE direction as the same underlying asset MSTR. Leverage funds rebalance at the end of every trading day after the close of the bell. But what you really need to know is in the math. Check this out: - Let's say UA (the underlying asset) is trading at $100. - Let's say a 2x leveraged fund UP2UA is trading at $10. - Let's say a 2x leveraged fund INVERSE2UAis trading at $5. 1. Now presume UA (the underlying asset) INCREASES by 10%. The new share prices will now look like this: - UA is now trading at $110 (up 10%). - 2 times leveraged fund UP2UA is trading at $12 (up 20%). - INVERSE2UA is trading at $4 (down 20%). 2. Now start with all the new numbers and presume UA (the underlying asset) DECREASES by 10% (exactly the opposite of what just happened in number 1). The new share prices will now look like this: - UA is now trading at $99 (down 10%). In step 1 the stock gained 10% of $100. In step 2 this stock lost 10% of $110. It ends up lower than where it started. - 2 times leveraged fund UP2UA is trading at $9.60 (down 20% from $12). - INVERSE2UA is trading at $4.80 (up 20% from $4).
I think BTC will drop. Maybe to its support at 87,xxx or maybe all the way down to 83,xxx. You could try buying MSTZ before it does and then selling when BTC finds its support. Or at that point maybe flipping MSTZ to MSTU. I have a large percent of my money in bitcoin derivatives. I take a small portion of that and trade MSTZ against MSTU. For instance I might take 5% of my MSTU holdings and when bitcoin is up high I buy MSTZ which is very low then. As BTC falls through its normal cycles and MSTZ goes up, I wait for BTC to find stability and sell MSTZ and use that money to buy MSTU. And then when the cycle starts the other way I sell that portion of my MSTU for MSTZ. MSTU and MSTZ are leverage at something like 2.75 times bitcoins movement. so for 5% of my MSTU holdings I trade it back-and-forth between MSTU and MSTZ. It's basically swing trading. Except all profits (and losses) are magnified 2.75 x's.

friendly reminder that all you havta do to succeed at trading is but $MSTU, then switch to $MSTZ the next day, then back to $MSTU, and repeat forever. just don't pick the wrong day to start or you lose everything and die of AIDS.
You can buy almost 3500 shares of $MSTU and when bitcoin doubles and microstrategy soars to $800 you’ll be mostly back. Just saying what I would do because it doesn’t look like you’re very averse to risk anyways 🤣

Yes of course you can, I do this with MSTU every day, ill buy in on an uptrend with momentum and make sure spy and btc are both on an uptrend, capture like 10-15 cents per share with like 4.5k shares and boom I just made like $800 for the day

No. Just managed differently. From what I understand, MSTU utilizes options more efficiently to maintain the value and reduce the loss over time.

MSTX is historically worse than MSTU. Leveraged ETFs also lose value over time. Approximately 5-7% per month.

As everyone else said leveraged ETFs are not good long term holds because a 30-50% dip in the market could lose everything. However I would take advantage of them over options trading. For instance you can buy and sell leveraged and inversely leveraged shares to not only hedge investments but also make money in a bull/bear market. For instance I bought TSLZ about a week or two ago due to customer sentiment worldwide and dwindling sales forecasts. This inversely tracks TSLA so even tho the stock is doing bad I’m making money. This has helped me make some money back from the tariff/crypto loss I recently had lol. Be warned u you can lose. My TSLZ has just about made me back what I lost in MSTU due to my poor oversight thinking that trump wouldn’t rug pull the market(s)

MSTU is not an investment it is a gambling play for swing traders and day traders, as are all 2x/3x leveraged etfs, long or short. It you want to *invest* you should buy MSTR or even the underlying BTC since they're basically just a bitcoin holding firm. Bitcoin will never dilute. It will get more scarce. MSTR actively and intentionally dilutes to generate income to buy bitcoin.

MSTX share to hold for the juicy dividend. MSTU for trading options, much higher volume than MSTR or MSTU.
If you have to pick MSTR. MSTU is good for a few hours to a few days maybe, but holding it long term is not advisable as its leverage decay could cause it to lose value even if MSTR dips and then recovers to the same price. And MSTR dips all the time comparatively to the market.

MSTU/MSTZ looks to be daily exposure leveraged funds. The underlying isn’t going to 2x in a single day. Under the assumption that the daily doesnt >2x in a single day, your expected return for each day would be zero, minus expense ratio. so you’d just lose expense ratio continuously lol, acting as a piggy bank for the fund managers.
I bought the leveraged MSTU weekly on Monday in anticipation of the crypto conference tomorrow, but normally I choose 3-6 month expirations.

I've been doing this with MSTU. Buying the dips during the day, often end of day and selling in premarket an hour before market opens because Bitcoin / Microstrategy tends to recover some when market closes.

I didn’t panic. In fact, I cut out early to have lunch with a friend. Not ecstatic about the abnormally wide spreads of HE, HPE, MSTU, TSLL making it look like that crappy pastrami sandwich cost me hundreds. But the truth is I’d have likely done nothing anyway, having previously rolled into profit all week. This’ll all sort itself out on Monday.

FYI, my strategy, take it for what it's worth. I'm 47 and want to retire in less than 5 years. I think we are heading into an unprecidented, once in a generation, growth cycle based on AI, robitics, and digital assets. I want to change my family tree for generations based on these opportunities. Not do the slow and steady grind to 65. . . For the next year or so, I'm quitting my job so I can cash out my 401k (SP500 is most aggressive option) and roll it over to a self-directed IRA. Investing 200k of that into various YieldMax ETF's to pay the bills for the next year. Then overall combining about 800k of assets in various accounts, 50% into BITU, 10% MSTU, 10% NVDY, 10% AAPL, 10% TSLA, 10% PLTR. After about a year I'll reassess and shift a fair portion into TQQQ and SPY and then DCA into bitcoin and TSLA and whatever stocks seem to be leading the way into the AI revolution. Hopefully Anduril and Aptronic go public. If shit goes south, I'll get my previous job back as long as neccessary to pay the bills until the market rebounds. But honestly, I think that's about a 5% chance.

Yeah, I bought the dip on deepseek day and sold some cash secured puts... Those positions are maturing well. And when the tariffs crashed crypto, I snagged a boat load of MSTU ay 7.45per during overnight market and printed a sweet 40% print on the following day when the market corrected. Gotta be flexible in this market. Play the news quickly, and don't try to hang around too long unless you're snagging a long-term value play at a discount.

My MSTU calls r fucked as if it wasn’t fucked hard enough Friday. I’ve got till June. But I think I am gonna close at 20% loss, at most, and move the fuck on. I hate having to worry about positions…especially the ones that r fucking me raw.

I don't recommend this because I don't want to give financial advice. I like bitcoin and am confident in the future of MSTR. With that being said, I like MSTU. I also like GME.
I had held MSTU during the run Nov 20ish. Was gonna sell @ half a mill god greedy and rugged to 120k. Granted my initial investment was 71k. Still really sucks though lol
