Some 23 year old kid will vibe code a raspberry PI to do the same thing. I say that as a PLC programmer who has seen it lol.
Jesus, Geo. Are you a PI on the side? Love your work. Thanks for posting.
PIs are a huge meme at that price you can just use an older PC with better everything and not have to deal with an ARM chip. Ofc regards will buy a mac mini for something that doesnt need a mac mini because youtube said so, so I guess buying a PI is the next best stupid idea.
Raspberry PI close to doubled their prices to cover memory prices. 16GB version went from $120 last year to $205 in a short timeframe. People are buying them anyway as it's cheaper than spending $599 on a 16GB Mac mini.

Funny, I worked with Claude a couple of hours last weekend to vibe up a simple little data pipeline that joined two CSVs on some pretty basic criteria, and it 1) completely fucked it up, 2) lied about the tests I wrote passing, and 3) wrote an unmaintainable pile of spaghetti (that didn’t work). But I’m sure it’s my fault for “prompting incorrectly”. I’m a systems architect btw, not a junior dev. You know what I like about giving “prompts” (tasking) to my actual junior devs? 1) Most of them don’t make up absolute horseshit when they don’t know how to tackle something, they just ask me for help, and 2) they actually learn and grow from doing these tasks, eventually becoming mid level or senior devs who can work completely independently with little oversight. Meanwhile, I have to spell out shit to Claude in such fine detail that I might as well just crank it out myself with a decent autocomplete. If your entire dev experience comes down to making glorified web forms, I can see how you might be worried. But for any dev except for a true junior, most of the hardest parts of the job have nothing to do with translating human intentions to code. It’s understanding interactions and limitations of interacting systems, business context, and helping folks who have zero technical skills translate their whims to something that is computationally feasible. And if we get to the point where Claude is able to reliably fill the role of the average mid level dev, who is going to task it? The PI/PM who is afraid of git? Give me a break.
Depends. Latency. For example in the US with low latency to the servers, you’re fine. But now extend to China and India with over 2.8B people. Do you think they want to deal with SaaS, latency or issues of transferring content to a cloud provider somewhere else? Or are they going to create a Deepseek Coder running locally via Continue and a llama variant? No per token charge, no worries about PI. Just a deployed model which can handle the most secure and restrictive data in the fastest time possible?

My PI agrees with me. I guess it's just a difference in opinion.
The issue is the way this data is stored and then mixed into the training data of the models. The commingling of PI and SPI into a general dataset actually creates a tremendous balance sheet liability for hipaa violation. There’s no technical way in ai to ring fence the verboten data.
4th time I've posted this. I think I've finally figured out how to not get my post deleted. You might view that as bearish on PI.
#TLDR --- **Ticker:** PI (Impinj) **Direction:** Up (Long Term) **Prognosis:** Buy Dips (<$110), Accumulate heavily <$70. Hold 3+ Years. **Moonshot Catalyst:** Your smartphone reading your groceries. **Creep Factor:** High (Corporations knowing exactly what is in your pantry) * **The Business:** Impinj makes RAIN RFID (UHF) chips used for tracking items (Walmart clothing, UPS packages, Delta bags). They sell ~15B chips/year. * **The Moat:** Recently defeated rival NXP in court; secured a patent peace treaty until 2034, allowing 8+ years of aggressive innovation without fear of lawsuits. * **The Growth Thesis:** Moving beyond supply chains into **Consumer Use**. * **Short Term:** Expanding into food tracking (Kroger bakery). * **Mid Term:** EU "Digital Product Passport" mandates could force adoption. * **Long Term (The Bagger):** Getting RFID readers into consumer smartphones (Qualcomm already put one in a commercial chip). * **The Tech Play:** Moving to "Protected Mode" allows secure authentication (anti-counterfeit) and privacy. This enables a future where brands can track inventory *inside your house* if you opt-in via phone. * **Risks:** Trump messing up EU relations (killing the EU mandate), metal surfaces are still too expensive to tag ($0.60 vs $0.05), and reliance on gaining new massive enterprise clients. * **Bottom Line:** Needs 20% yearly growth to justify current price. Enterprise is the floor; Consumer adoption is the 20x ceiling. Volatile stock, so patience on entry price is key.
#TLDR --- **Ticker:** PI (Impinj) **Direction:** Up (Long Term Hold) **Prognosis:** Buy shares on dips <$110. Scream and buy if <$70. **Nemesis:** Aluminum cans (physics makes tagging metal expensive). **Orwellian Score:** 9/10 (Corporations will know exactly how long that shirt has been sitting in your closet). **Summary:** OP is holding 3,011 shares and betting on the evolution of RAIN RFID from supply chains (Walmart/UPS) to consumer pockets. Impinj recently won a patent war against NXP, securing a 10-year truce to grow unchecked. **The Bull Thesis:** * **Consumer Phones:** Qualcomm is integrating RFID reading into chips. If smartphones start reading tags, volume goes from 15B tags/year to hundreds of billions. * **Recurring Revenue:** New "Authentication" features allowing brands to verify real vs. fake goods could generate service fees per scan. * **Europe:** Potential EU mandates (Digital Product Passport) could force adoption, though political climate makes this shaky. **The Risks:** * **Physics:** Tagging metal/liquid is still too expensive ($0.60 vs $0.04). * **Macro:** Trump vs. EU trade relations could kill the regulatory tailwinds. * **Timeline:** Breaking into the consumer market is a "moonshot" that might take years. **Trade:** Volatile stock. Needs 20% yearly growth to justify valuation. Sit on it for 3 years for a potential 20x tag volume increase.
#TLDR --- **Ticker:** PI (Impinj) **Direction:** Up (Long Term Hold) **Prognosis:** Accumulate shares < $110; Aggressive buy < $70 **Bullish On:** Your pantry snitching on you **Barrier to Entry:** Canned Soup (Metal interference) ### TLDR Summary **The Business:** Impinj makes RAIN RFID chips (15B+ sold/year). They are the dominant player in tracking inventory for giants like Walmart, UPS, and Delta. They recently won a patent war against rival NXP, securing an 8-year runway free of litigation. **The Bull Case:** * **Expansion:** Moving from just clothes/logistics into food (testing with Kroger). * **Tech Integration:** Qualcomm is integrating RFID reading into mobile chips. The endgame is consumer smartphones reading tags on everything you own. * **Revenue:** If they crack the consumer market/smartphones, volume goes from 15B to 100s of billions of tags (20x growth). * **Services:** New "Authentication" features could allow PI to charge a fee every time a genuine item is scanned/verified. **The Bear Case:** * **Physics:** You can't cheaply tag metal (cans) or liquid yet (costs >$0.60 vs $0.04 for normal tags). This limits grocery adoption. * **Politics:** Trump vs. EU relations could hurt the adoption of the Digital Product Passport (DPP), a major potential catalyst. * **Valuation:** Priced for perfection. Needs +20% yearly growth to justify current price. **The Trade:** Stock is volatile. Don't chase the pumps. Look for dips below $110 to enter, and treat this as a 3-year hold while waiting for smartphone adoption.

This is a bullshit treeshake... PI's assuming the markets is going up at the start of the year... just bullshit!
Good point. Maybe some lawyers do overlook things, and that's where the PI comes in to catch what might slip through the cracks.
I'm convinced PI adds another layer of security that a lawyer might miss, especially when it comes to verifying things that aren't in the paperwork. It’s like paying for a second opinion.
The data they used was readily available online so I decided to attempt a replication of this to prove them wrong, but it seems like there may be some substance to this. I have used the multi-day log returns using look-behind windows, and computed ACF with equal sample counts per lag. This is with checking through 40 day lag: https://i.imgur.com/yDtATBh.png And this is checking just through 10 days: https://i.imgur.com/i2PI3SO.png And again through 10 days but using a 2 day log return window: https://i.imgur.com/m04HZYB.png I would encourage someone else to also attempt replicating this analysis to ensure no errors have been made.

> millennials grew up with it NOT going up, wages were stagnant from 1999 to 2015 _**Household**_ median income was flat. _**Individual**_ median income was not ([Personal Income](https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/PI) & [Real Personal Income](https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/RPI)) Why? Because the number of income earners per household has shrunk due to (i) divorces, and (ii) increased individualism leading to young adults moving out earlier _(to rent crappy studio apartments)_ rather than becoming an additional income earner in their parents' homes
So why is AMZN struggling today? Sell the news I.e fuck PI’s? Just bullshit…..

Is that what's been going on with price improvement fills? Lack of liquidity, fed stopping QT and not starting QE? I thought it was Market Makers just taking year-end profits without producing PI.
whether lions are garbage or not, that PI call was a crime against humanity
Happy with that rigged ass PI call?
PI needs to be entirely redone. Getting a 60 yard penalty for hand fighting is ridiculous.

Is it good time to short PI? It's at ATH!
I have a very good academic profile. My PI is a big shot with personal links with multiple Nobel laureates. But I personally think it wouldn’t hurt to have industry experience in the bag
As a PI lawyer, I also keep the medical bills away from juries so they can go wild with their imaginations.
Doesn't that fact not speak to the lack of fundamental value being taken into account? PI doesn't usually pay attention to p/e ratios. Wouldn't that prove the valuation argument, just in a round about way?
Clear pick play, even announcers thought it was offensive PI. NFL….nope, it’s the chiefs
Sell enough to fund a PI generating entity while buying back the investment with overage. Beneficial on multiple levels.
The point was proximity to power. I’ve met former presidential candidates in private settings. I’ve had dinner with a Supreme Court justice. Been on a golf course with the executive team of Pfizer. Been in box seats with executives from steel companies. Paddock seats with Saudis who run aramco at F1 races. I’m related to a federal circuit of appeals judge who was on the short list for Supreme Court. I went to a sketchy billionaires Christmas party last year wont say who because it very obviously gives my location away lol. The other point was, I could literally not work and still end up with more than you can ever fathom having. But I didn’t. I’ve worked my ass off for the joy of it. I went to school for 10 years studying one of the most difficult subjects to get into a field that has a 2-3% acceptance rate among applicants. Widen that to the general population and you’re looking at much less than <1%. While doing so I would work manual labor in a factory in the summers for money (granted I got paid 32 an hour as a temp because I knew someone who was willing to pay me what they pay full time union employees.) when I wasn’t in my lab literally helping do the research that was the foundation of what led to ozempic and will lead to another drug for fatty liver disease in NVOs pipeline. Also got paid 35 an hour for my wet lab research, PI was retiring and used me like a graduate student when I was still in undergrad so he paid me the maximum amount they’d let him. Anyway I’ve studied for tens of thousands of hours, worked part time, did thousands of hours of biochemical nutrition research to characterize a pathway of genomic expression that was later used in the development of one of the most successful drugs in the last several decades. So when you say you look down on me, go ahead but I’m gonna venture to guess you’ve done about a quarter of this. May not even be capable of doing it all at once while still having a social life. After all, what are you? some guy who works a 9-5.
right around the time i took that class i switched labs cuz my first advisor was harassing me, not in a angry abusive PI kinda way but in a asking me to have 1-on-1 meetings at his house on saturdays cuz he thinks asian girls r cute kinda way, and i was SO stressed out trying to switch labs that my hair was falling out, cuz basically if u cant find a new advisor ur kicked outta school. this same girl saw me in my new lab (the one i got my phd from) and along w the other not very nice girls in my class, told my entire cohort that i switched labs and said that i got fired and everyone was staring at me whenever i would go to class, it was horrible
As a biotech founder & c-suite, I always found this absolutely fucking insane. Admittedly I am more obsessed than most, but the amateur hour on display by some of these founders is just abhorrent. I treated day 1 like survival and mapped as much as I possibly good out from then on. I also had a family and I knew what it meant to be poor. After getting burnt too many times, if an idea wasn’t worth pursuing, it was killed - and ideas must have mapped out go/no-go gates. This isn’t even that hard to understand. AstraZeneca and others literally publish their frameworks of thought around this. The only inference I can make is that these other founders think they’re untouchably smart cause they’ve got a PhD and their PI helped them spinout a company that it makes them untouchable. Like the rest of us don’t. The privilege and stupidity just bothers the shit out of me.
How did you get this? OMG did you hire a PI to follow me? wtf dude
Made 3 major moves recently: 1. Sold OTM GLD covered calls @314 strike because PI 2. Added a shit ton of FCX ATM leaps @45 strike before the accident 3. Sold my TSM September 2025 200-270 call speads when the stock was around 240
As a PhD scientist this report looks like the kind of wishful thinking pushed out by a graduate student who was told what his PI wanted to find.
The PI on the rams TD was crazy
Actually he managed to hide it from the first investigation by the board of directors. Only when the chairman went all out and hired an external investigaton firm (which probably put a PI on him 24/7) did he get caught. Really hard to hide the relationship when it's your immediate direct report.
He can remove her for cause. But she hasn't been indicted nor convicted. If she wants to fight it, she would easily win a restraining order and probably a PI. Even if she got indicted a trial would take a long time and by then no one would truly care

Probably cheaper than a PI.
It’s gotta be like playing cards. You can shuffle a deck as much as you want but you’ll never have the exact same deck. You can probably just rip a random string of numbers out of PI or something too.
I think they can get to $60-$70, but not in OP’s timeframe. I frequent SEA (Thailand and Vietnam) and it’s quite popular, mainly for transport/logistics and food tech (for now). Their other sectors like finance, travel, ads, education to mention a few; it will be interesting to track as they continue to invest/build out. There’s also the potential acquisition of GoTo who dominates Indonesia. Adoption in PI is catching on and it’ll happen as developments there continue beyond Metro Manila. I personally like Rivas City.
Somebody shouts 'pull' and the PI's go flying across the sky!
Mixed bag The good: all repair work is done. Federal administration is speaking very aggressively about utilizing domestic oil infrastructure, and if Sable gets in a long legal fight, which is looking more likely, the Feds could intervene in their favor. The Trump administration, for better or worse, is very willing to use executive authority and emergency powers to get what they want. The bad: 1. global energy prices are down. If oil prices remain low for the long term, then this is bad for Sable even if they restart. 2. hard to say how the preliminary injunction with CCC will go. Ideally, there is a settlement between Sable and CCC to allow restart. The bar is fairly low to issue a PI, so I actually don't think this should be read into too much, and the demurrer went mostly in Sable's favor, which is a good sign. I tend to think Sable wins this 60-40. 3. The Temporary Restraining Order against OSFM and Sable is probably the most concerning to me. The lawsuit is over OSFM issuing waivers without an environmental review, without public input, and supposed pipeline safety issues. The public input is nonsense because, historically, the OSFM does not make decisions based on public input. They make decisions driven by technical assessments, compliance with state and federal laws, and coordination with other regulatory bodies, rather than direct public input or public hearings. The pipeline safety issue is nonsense because Sable followed every requirement in the Conent Decree and is using best available technology including safety valves which weren't in the previous pipeline and an alternative corrosion protection plan that involves increased testing, stricter repair thresholds, and other monitoring procedures. Having said that, I can't rule out the state still requiring a new Environmental Review under CEQA. My personal opinion is the consent decree outlines very specific safety and testing requirements, which Sable has met or exceeded which was vetted by federal and state regulators and approved by a federal iudge, and there is an attempt to require an Environmental Review strictly to prevent the pipeline from restarting which is a typical California tactic. I also don't think Exxon wants this asset back because then they are responsible for decommissioning it. So, even if things don't go well on the regulatory front, Sable may be able to either start production using oil tankers like they did in the 1980s (though this isn't straight forward either) or they continue to raise capital to get through regulatory requirements while Exxon continues to push back the asset reversion date. Big picture: If global energy prices average $70/share then this is probably a $100-150/stock, so roughly a 4-7x. But this could also be a total capital loss, too.
Anyone have thoughts on RASPERRY PI? UK Semiconductor? I personally would've invested already but it's 50$ for the transaction. Lol. $6.50 a share rn IPO was earlier this year.
As someone who is just finishing their PhD, they're reputation is starting to suffer, at least among the other labs and PI's I talk to. The quality of their equipment is suffering from constant race to the bottom on quality and components. I know a lot of labs that have just effectively cut them out of any procurement. We have multiple 40 year old platform shakers and heat blocks that are still going strong, while most the newer fisher ones have died in 2-3 years, conveniently just off warranty. Worse, they won't even sell you replacement parts to fix them when it's something simple that broke. People are also starting to wake up to the fact that Fisher is actively driving up costs buy using the same strategy that Amazon did to suppress or buy out competition. We've started to use a few local companies specifically because we don't want to risk a monopoly. If we can steer our business to smaller local companies, we do. Fisher has a habit of buying up small companies to corner the market on a specific product, and then jacking up the price. With all that said, they're a major player and are here to stay. We still probably buy about 40%-60% of our consumables through them. They are after all the Amazon of lab equipment and consumables. But all that means that while they're not going out of business anytime soon, I wouldn't make them a sure bet on ever-expanding shareholder value. The cuts to science funding, the tariffs, and the fact that people are starting to wise up to the general enshittification of their equipment means I wouldn't inherently assume their stock value is going to outperform the rest of the market. Worse, if our experience is anything to go on, there are likely going to be a lot more people that will realize their equipment is poorly made over the next few years as their new thermo branded lab equipment starts to fail with 1/10th the lifespan of older and just as capable equivalents. I'd want to do a much deeper dive before taking any serious position.

Not trying to judge this kid, because they are a kid, but I am a little/exceedingly frustrated with their idea of a lit review: >In my literature review, I was disappointed to find that goldfish memory was frequently and often deridingly characterized as lasting three seconds (Osborne, 2010). Was in fish science a long time ago and helped on some experiments observing goldfish in maze/choice tanks with a PI that did work on fish memory and such, so the 3 second statement seemed super off to me. Like we know and knew for a real long time that goldfish have pretty decent memories. Even in 2015 it was well known, especially so in goldfish. The 3 second thing is usually what like news people would say. Found what they were referencing and it was from the Australian Broadcasting Company and is fully debunking the 3 second myth. They even cite it as: >Osborne, Darren. “Three-Second Fish Memory ‘Rubbish.’” News in Science, Australian Broadcasting Corporation. 14 Jan. 2010. Web. http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2010/01/14/2792407.htm. Success in science is a lot about promoting yourself though, and this kid definitely has talent at that self promotion jazz which is needed to go far in academia. They'll probably get tenure eventually if they try for it.
