The market is pretty good at predicting rate hikes at least on the short term and pricing those hikes into bond prices. So if the market was predicting this 1% rate hike , when the Federal open market committee actually raises rates 1% , nothing would happen because that 1% hike would have been priced in So for example the market right now, is pricing in a .25 rate hike in Sept with the odds of a hike of 0.67%, its also putting the odds of another .25 point hike in oct/dec at about 50% So lets say in theory these odds do not move (they will) and lets say you buy SGOV 1 day before the federal open market committee meets in Sept and they raise rates by 0.25 points Well some napkin math that is probably wrong but will give you a pretty close estimation is .25 (point hike ) \* .10 (duration) \* 0.33(rate hike was 2/3 priced in)=0.0085% what means maybe SGOV would fall 1 cent temporarily , but then probably rise about 1-2 cents a day as normal TLDR SGOV has hardly any duration , assuming you hold onto it for more than a few days there is basically zero chance you lose money . Note you would also take distributions into account Technically if you buy SGOV on the 30th of the month it might be priced 100.70 , First of ex month is the ex div date so it will fall to 100.30 for example. However you really lost no money as you will get a 0.40 distribution in a couple days

lots of tension and pressure from our country to Iran, but there is no war, it was never declared, there's no action in Iran's soil, all of it is happening as most of us know in the Strait of Hormuz. there hasn't been bloodshed on Iran's soil, there has been bloodshed in Iraq and Syria from US to Iranians there, including IRGC linked militia, Iran proxy fighters, drone operators and weapons depot personnel. Our Navy has destroyed IRGC drone boats, maritime drones and small fast-attack crafts this made bloodshed to Iranians that were part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards. Our U.S. State Department does not have formal diplomatic ties with Iran, and it really sucks right now. We don't have an embassy there, nor does Iran have one here, there are no direct channels. We got our allies Switzerland, Oman, Qatar, the EU, and the UN having quiet diplomacy aka de‑escalating without public pressure, political embarrassment, or forcing either side to “look weak" if it wasn't for all these diplomats there actually could be a real war. Crude and Brent oil may stay around $85-90 per barrel there will be stability in the world of finance. I am writing for the select few here in WSB that believe that this situation in Iran warrants buying put options, it does not.
