The question that needs to be discussed: where does the energy go? If you look at the thermodynamics of a mining system ~95%+ of electricity is lost in HEAT. Heat that can be used to heat homes, and business in colder climates and it can be used in thousands industrial processes year round. BTC mining tech could be used in district heating applications or even as a home furnace and hot water heater. Effectively displacing the need for natural gas and “wasteful” resistance heaters. You recover the energy while putting the energy to work. It’s a net positive. GHG regulation and the continued rise of renewable energy on the gird coupled with mining heat recovery can lead to net zero emission mining AND more affordable energy costs for everyone. Do you want to spend 50,000 a year to heat your factory with electricity or carbon fuel? OR, do you want to spend $48,000 a year to mine BTC and $2,000 in heat to get the same result? This is where the market can/will go. It’s a no brainer.
Maybe it's hard to explain because what you are saying isn't actually logical? On your first question, energy isn't consumed. If the world used 6x as much energy for bitcoin mining that energy (Solar, wind, whatever) would be transmuted into HEAT. On your second question, don't take a job that wants to under pay you and give you shares instead. On another point, can you imagine if doctors were paid in shares of hospital stock? Would you go to a doctor who had a motivation to charge you more so his stock would go up?
Newcomer in Crypto since last Feb and build a "good" bag within afew weeks. Didn't sell during the last crash(?) which i think was about May time, as I always told myself from the beginning its a 5 year plan. So I won't be selling even tho I'm still in the green at the moment. If anything I wouldn't mind it dipping below what i paid this time last year so I can buy afew more full coins... Even if you had the money, you probably wouldn't be able to get ASICS so you're kinda right there. It's an important consideration but I'm assuming in this scenario that one already has mining equipment if they're mining Bitcoin. Ask anyone or any company that is mining what the most important consideration when mining Bitcoin is? They'll answer along the lines of thermodynamics. HEAT. WORK. ENERGY.
