Yeah but I don't think HOP can deploy a coin from L1 to L2 right? This means that any coin is basically cross-chain with Base if deployed on ETH. As far as I'm aware, you need to have already deployed a coin to Base to bridge, no?
Thanks but HOP only works with bridging ETH, and buying ETH on ARB Nova is not a solution as it costs around 10% more than normal due to low liquidity.
Note that you obviously also have to have BNB on BNB chain to sign the source chain transaction, but yeah ETH gas top up as the destination chain is significantly more expensive and probably not worth it for 26 USD. I think Merkly also has a gas top up function and you might want to check out Orbit, zkBridge and bridge aggregators like Jumper and Bungee. I think some of my cheaper bridges to ETH were using either HOP or Across through aggregators.
Why not just name it $HOP or something that actually fits the theme of the sub?

They're starting to give out OP rewards to the big protocols on their network like HOP and KWENTA who are passing it on to users. Most of the people getting these are turbo farmers.
I would argue that it’s weird to only be bridging $25. Bridging isn’t some casual transaction you do all the time, it’s a big one that involves intent to relocate funds across chains. Anyway use HOP or BICO and you’ll likely pay WAY less than you did. Like did you use the Polygon POS bridge or something?
I’m farming HOP with my ETH and have had GMX/GLP staked for the better part of 6 months. I’m quite into Y2K at the moment. They allow you to bet on the depeg of pegged assets and I farmed their initial token offering. How are you finding RDNT v2? Any other protocols on arbi that you find interesting?
First time that i withdraw ETH from binance through arbitrum one. I have some eth in rocketpool... but man the difference in fees moving in mainnet are ridiculous when you star moving in L2. Im farming some eth using HOP protocol also in arbitrum and the rates are GOOD, minus the fees. L2 is a no brainer. Now going to pool some moons.
BTC could HOP up to those levels.

I agree it's still early and a bit janky, but the ultimate goal is not to constantly swap back and forth between chains. I mean, Optimism -> ETH Main takes 7 days, it's just not practical. In an ideal world you would just leave the WETH on polygon and just do business directly on there. Some exchanges will allow direct on/off ramp from Arbitrum and Optimism for example, so you in theory would never have to touch ETH Main if there is enough development on L2. Honestly if it is ever adopted mainstream, an average user would probably not interact directly with the blockchain, that would be more for power users would be my guess. FWIW if you want to swap fast between L2s or L2/ETH main use something like HOP protocol or Synapse rather than the official bridge.
There are a million other bridges that are way cheaper than the polygon bridge and only take seconds. BICO - hyphen bridhe, HOP protocol, Synaps bridge, Umbria Narnia bridge, etc. And Coinbase is currently having issues with their system, Polygon is running smoothly and has nothing to do with that. You need to do more research or ask other people before just jumping in.
HOP liquidity mining program started recently. Some pretty nice APYs for single sided stables and ETH LPs. (20 - 40%)
Probably the most convenient is to just buy straight from the mm app, unless you want to deal with bridging your funds. If you do, you'll likely want to buy ETH on a cex, then move it to your wallet, then use a bridge protocol like HOP or something similar, and move it over to polygon.
Launching Nova or any chain in a bear market is going to be rough but given the current macro environment I’m surprised to see so much excitement around Nova. I’m just giving it some time, letting the eco system develop, it will get more usable. I cross L2 bridges are going to be huge next bull run. I’m staking with HOP protocol and the APR has been really great.

You can bridge assets on Ethereum Layer 2 between arbitrum, optimism, xDai and polygon using for example HOP network

I don't know much about loop to be honest. Arbitrum still has fees, just significantly lower. But the good thing is that platforms like HOP make it pretty easy to jump from one L2 to another with very little cost. Between arbitrum and optimism for example. Not many L2's are supported yet though, it's still really early in layer 2 land
If you're funds are on L1 already you can just use a bridge like HOP. I don't really get what your problem is. You can just use a p2p exchange that gives ETH on layer 2 then. Plenty of options for new users to avoid layer 1

Most exchanges track your bitcoin for at least 4 "hops". Meaning this... HOP 1: Exchange to BTC Address 1 HOP 2: BTC Address 1 to Address 2 HOP 3: Address 2 to Address 3 HOP 4: Address 3 to Address 4 But with chain analysis companies, that will be extended indefinitely. You'll need to wait for continued advancements in bitcoin tech that will add more anonymity, such as lightning. Other people can probably speak to that progress and the current state of tech though.
