Took a shot at pepe pre 100m MC and have taken profits from It twice + got a bag left. Got 0'd on a different coin that didn't get enough traction, very small position. But between pepe and the profit I took from btcs jan-march run i can now actually consider myself a profitable trader xD tho im mostly looking to hodl till bull I didnt see why I shouldnt TP in small bits given the economic outlook of the world. Gonna sit back and watch for new lows now for more accumulation now as I think btc will head below 20k again, if not I still got a ticket to ride so either way

Maybe the sentiment is off in this sub, but I’m talking about day trading. I never said it was easy. But let’s say I open an intra-day position. I momentum trade EMAs, I look for 0.5% moves with at least 1:1 R:R. With 50x leverage, A $100 position now becomes a $5000 position. In this scenario I’m risking $25 to make $25. If TP is hit that is a 25% gain with $100 position size and on only a 0.5% move. As long as stop loss is set I don’t see the issue.

How it helps , well ... i'm also mid range income, so i have my fiat limitations and i guess people are actually interested in : "What do i have to do when I really need Fiat and the only direct option is to sell some crypto , but it happens under the bear cycle"? First of all, portofolio diversification helps because if you buy only BTC and, let's assume you bought during the bull and during the bear , your average might be around 35-40k , so everything sold under this price is basically sold at an average loss. Having 4-5 assets might catch one of them in a random pump that's over the ath's, thus being in the profit zone. Example, i needed some cash fast, but there was no option , i have like 10 different assets, among which Agix. Agix was my golden ticket to withdraw into fiat on the upside even though my portofolio was generally in red due to market cycle but not Agix, which i bought at 0.0 etc ... and it went to 0.6 meanwhile (i had over 1000% upside on my initial purchase) . That's how portofolio spread might help. Second, dca Out aswell ... you don't TP Everything at once because the price trend might keep going up, so just as your purchase average can be decreased, your TP average might be increased. If you have 0.5 BTC and decide to TP at 24 k because your average purchase price was at 18k , i mean nice upside, but it's silly to think that 24k would be the 'cap' ... so then you can sell at 22k, 26, 30k, maybe, and the average would turn out to be higher than a fixed point sell. Again, this is for people who don't have money to spare, and they really need some fiat quickly, but the market is not really in it's best spot.

This was the biggest lesson I learnt from the bull run before the last; saw my pf rise to 5x its original value and dip to a 30% deficit before my eyes. Sad times lol. When BTC dropped about 10% from ATH in the last bull run, I didn’t think twice to TP and decided to just stake the earnings on SpoolFi to earn yields; that’s how I stayed afloat all through the peak of the bear last year and I haven’t regretted it for once.

Set TPs based on major S/R, fib levels and TP in portions. Ideally you should have a plan created with RR and RM. If you believe at your last TP it will go higher then only sell half and you can average back in with a way better avg then trying catch a candle. Think of the market like pacman, its just hunting for liquidity, check out orderbooks. They can be more informative than charts sometimes. Also observe the market as much as you can, dont even have to trade just pay attention to how it moves over time. Google anything like RM with trading added it for any that dont make sense this way you'll learn about it too. Good luck 🙌

Was 20% give or take but I took some profits the last 2 days so down to about 15%, will likely buy back in using that cash though if it drops further. If not will TP again. Was hard to pull the plug but it does feel nice to have the cash realised from it. The goal is to stack more sats altogether though but its getting harder to keep up with dca even tho im in a decent position financially, just got some more immediate priorities until summer rolls around so felt like TP was best opportunity to get some cash at the ready for any dips.

You should also look into setting a TP/SL (Take Profit, Stop Loss) order and setting a trailing stop loss which would have prevented that.

I have a question about coin-margined futures trading pairs. Since they are denominated in crypto, the Profit and Loss % should be equivalent and equal, right? However, when I go to set TP and SL, the numbers don't add up. If I go long, and the price goes up 50%, I gain 33%. If price goes down 50%, I lose 100%. I could swear this was not the case a while ago, and that profit/loss was direct. 50% increase was 50% profit, 50% drop was 50% loss. What gives?

A good exit strategy is to start taking profits once the price hits 80% if your target price, instead of your actual 'target price' So if your TP is $1 for Doge (just an example), you sell 20% at 80 cents, maybe another 20% at 90 cents and when it hits your actual target price you sell 40%, and leave 20% for a 'moonshot' (i.e higher than your target price) That's one good strategy managing risk and ensuring you won't be left with nothing - remember how many people were left holding the bag waiting for a 100k BTC the last bull run.

Dude, TP is the name of the game ... you were up 250k and didn't take profit. It's simple as that. Afterwards, you can re-enter at a lower price since the market is always on cycles. It doesn't go up forever, and it doesn't go down forever ... pretty simple , sell high if realised, buy back low.

Haha… I was one of em. I actually came into 2021 with no job having been laid off in September of the year prior. I dumped 150k of an inheritance I had received and actually made 130k by April of the next year. Then, in early may, I lost it all in the span of a week after the Fed had officially announced a pivot in policy, which led to a decline in pretty much every index fund. I tried doubling down my losses on gold, hoping it would rise to become a hedge… NOPE. It fell right down with it. I then moved the rest and leveraged even more on natural gas shorts, which had already risen from the $4 to $6 since the start of the war with Ukraine. My thinking was that since every other asset was falling, NG would follow suit. The futures shot up to $10 in the span of 3 days after Russia suddenly announced a complete cut of oil supply to Germany with no correction in between. By the end of it, I was margin called with a mere 17k left. I went back looking for a job the following day after I spent the night weeping the loss. 2 months later, these damn NG shorts had fallen back down beyond my set TP 😭… but alas, I had no money left to sustain my position. It felt like the market had rubbed it in my face all over again.

Thank you for sharing this! I absolutely agree that a balance must be had ESPECIALLY if you have a day job/business. It's all about setting yourself up for success, being half asleep, not focused, etc will not help you (not you, just in general) succeed. One thing that can help as well, is setting take profit/stop loss orders and let the automation take your out of the trade itself, etc. When i swing trade I set my TP/SL in relation to the setup and let it do its business, not need to baby sit it. I usually recommend swing trading to this sole reason. When it comes to trading crypto futures I myself only swing trade.
