For now it has specific target audiences i think, like gamers- look at some videos about visa/master card "brand protection" and forcing companies to stop selling products, or forcing them to close like some japanese manga services. So you can type in search steam vs visa master card, or japan vs visa master card. they are private companies so they can decide on a whim who is allowed to sell what all to defend their "brand" for which common people do not care. Visa and mastercard companies are still involved in OF and other controversial areas. then there are political reasons, countries aim for sovereignity. if japan has specific policies related to their economy in METI and then a credit card company tells anime and manga studios that follow the LAW and have creative freedom, what they can sell and what not is borderline market manipulation i think? im nobody and am far from being knowledgable in these topics, but economic influence can easily be used for political influence. >**Thierry Breton**, the former European Commissioner for Internal Market. However, it is important to clarify the nature of this ban: > >**Type of Ban:** It is a **US Visa Ban**, not a direct ban from performing financial services or a judicial ruling of misconduct. >**Who Banned Him:** The **United States Government** (announced by the State Department). >**Reasoning:** The US accused Breton and four other European figures of "coercion and intimidation" regarding their roles in architecting the **EU Digital Services Act (DSA)**. The US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, characterized the move as a response to "extraterritorial censorship" of American tech platforms. Clarification on Visa/Mastercard >**Visa and Mastercard**: >These companies were not the ones who issued a "ban" on a judge. >Instead, there is a current political debate (January 2026) in the European Parliament where lawmakers (like Aurore Lalucq) have warned that the US could "weaponize" these payment networks to cut off transactions in Europe. This has led to calls for a **"European Airbus for payment systems"** (the Wero system) to ensure EU financial sovereignty

I’ll break this down with examples because you’re dumb. 1. The state of Illinois passes a law saying NO ONE CAN WEAR MASKS TO HIDE THEIR IDENTITY. ICE ROLLS IN MASKED UP DEFYING STATE LAW. The state arrests the fed officers for breaking state law. Bc state law doesn’t supersede federal law aka their law can’t dictate what federal officers wear. The SUPREMACY CLAUSE would be enacted. The case is dismissed 2. The state and fed has laws for assault. ICE ROLLS IN. CLASHES WITH PROTESTERS AND FORCE IS USED. State arrests Feds for assault Bc the Feds CAN use force the SUPREMACY CLAUSE is enacted. Case is dismissed 3. States and Feds have laws on murdering someone. ICE ROLLS IN. A FED FEELS HIS LIFE IS IN DANGER DRAWS HIS FIREARM AND KILLS SOMEONE. State arrests him for murder. FEDs can use deadly force when they feel their life is in danger. The SUPREMACY CLAUSE is enacted. Case is dismissed DO YOU GET IT NOW?

For what? Filming a bunch of cunts that are scared shitless that their activities are being posted for the world to see. WE HAVE A FUCKING RIGHT TO FILM COPS. THIS IS PROTECTED BY FUCKING LAW. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO CARRY A FUCKING WEAPON. THERE IS ZERO EXCUSE FOR THIS BEHAVIOR BY LAW ENFORCEMENT. We literally have a federal agency invading a city and murdering US citizens for exercising their protected rights because our dipshit of a president almost lost an election to their governor and then it came to light that he was heavily involved in a underage sex trafficking ring. And you psychos are justifying it. For what fucking gain? to own the fucking libs? Fucking pathetic. Absolutely fucking pathetic little cunts you are.

Exempting USMCA goods has more to do with the fact that USMCA is a LAW. It was a treaty signed by the three countries. As a treaty ratified by congress it is the law of the land, and Trump can’t just void it. It’s the same reason that none of these “deals” are actual deals. None of them have been ratified by congress so there’s zero enforcement mechanism in them. They are just Trump’s mental masturbation. The bullshit about Japan investing 700B, or the EU 600B, or the Korean deal that was modified by sharpie… none of that is real. It’s all bullshit. None of it has the force of law. If/when the Appeals court overturns Trump’s use of IEEPA, they all go back to what they were before the trade war… nothing but the bad feelings remain. Of course, we’ll see what SCOTUS does, nobody knows what they will do anymore, corrupt as they are. It will come down to who owns the SCOTUS, the oligarchs or Trump. My money’s on the oligarchs.

Pardons have been fucked for decades, presidents pardoning the worst human beings alive. Murderers, rapists, drug pushers, ponzi schemers, spies, etc. Most recently, Biden literally gave a blanket pardon to his entire family for every crime in the book, that's about as corrupt as you can get without declaring 'I AM THE LAW' and going out on an attack helicopter and shooting random people down then verbally declaring 'I PARDON MYSELF' after each murder. Trump already pardoned violent rappers and Sholom Rubashkin who ran a human trafficking ring to hire illegals and hired children to work in his factory. Pardons need to go. They should just not exist. It's the only time I'd agree for a constitutional amendment. I just hope some victims rights group somehow finds a foolproof argument to win in the supreme court that negates all the previous presidential pardons so those people go back to prison. Maybe base it on if the president signing the pardon doesn't know the facts of the case and can't remember the names of who he pardoned, then those can't be a legal pardon.

>Social security and (mostly) medicare have NOTHING to do with the deficit. Zero. Completely separate pools of money. BY LAW, they can't affect the deficient because they can only pay out what comes in. This is a lie you've been told for decades and it has NEVER been true. The fact that money is separate on paper does not matter. In 10-15 years when the Social security trust(which is invested in US treasuries by the way) fund runs out of money, benefits will either need to be cut, or taxes raised. And if they raise taxes, they are competing for revenue with federal income taxes(any raise in social security taxes reduces economic activity, which reduces federal income tax collections).

I can not upvote this comment enough. Trump is abusing emergency powers that were never meant to be used in this way. That is why we, the people, gave the power to tariff other countries to Congress as it is still currently structured! The Roberts ruling on presidential immunity needs to be rescended, and Trump and his cronies tried to the fullest extent of the law for high treason. Anything short of this will not satisfy the deep betrayal of the American People moving forward. Never forget that this country is not based in Washington D.C. or the institutions or agencies therein. It's not even based in your own State Capitol or even in our representatives. The United Sates and the US citizen are one and the same, and NONE OF US ARE ABOVE THE LAW. United we Stand and Divided we Fall.

There's an answer to this and I'm gonna summarize as best as I can so that I can motivate you to do your research on several topics instead of listening to a man who'd rather point a finger at literally anything and cry about them. 1 - Harvard University is a Non-profit organization. This means that one of the biggest reasons that they don't pay taxes is BECAUSE they are non profit. Everything that they make goes out to the community in various ways, be it donations to charity, helping during epidemic crises that may lead to the people around them having a harder time just doing things, being able to provide scholarships and just helping the general public. That's where students' money goes. Oh, and on that topic, Harvard, one of the most well known schools also offers free courses on things like Computer Science. Look it up. There's another way that they like to help us out. Btw, Non-profit organizations are tax exempt so that, as I stated above, they can better help the community. If you're against Harvard being tax exempt from this, then you're okay with other non-profit organizations being taxed and you're also against being charitable and being there "for the people." But hey, anything to "make America great again," right? 2 - Grants A grant is non-repayable (meaning it does not have to be paid back to the government) money that the government gives to organizations to further their causes and help these businesses stay afloat. Likewise, this is how Harvard stays afloat and is the sole reason they're able to give back to the community in various ways without crashing while also being able to do research and stay, not only as one of the most prestigious schools in the world, but also as a school in general. So all in all, if you're against Harvard, you're against the law (as Harvard is a LAW school), you're against grants and you're against non-profit organizations. And this means that you're against helping other people and making sure that the world is honestly a better place. It costs money but hey, while I'm no lawyer, I'm sure that if you do research on several of these topics, then you'll finally be able to say something meaningful instead of really getting off of ruining others' lives. Then again, I'm so sure that it's all for the sake of "making America great again," right?

There are other systems. \#5 - Hand wavey "AI revolution"... Not buying it. You know what reduces healthcare costs? Doctors spending less time fighting with insurance companies to get needed procedures preauthorized. Doctors spending less money on hiring people to fight with insurance companies. Letting the government negotiate drug prices instead of a cartel of insurance companies, drug companies and pharmacy benefit managers (a thing that would require a LAW, not an executive order.) Making sure every actually has access (this means that they can afford it as well) to healthcare in general and specifically preventative care. All of that is more likely to happen than some sort of magical AI revolution in medicine and all that stuff isn't happening either in the next few years. I have no idea why the market chose to turn on UHC. It sucks the same as it has for years at this point. > Congress passed a LAW prohibiting the govt from negotiating prescription drug prices when Medicare coverage of prescription drugs was first authorized. The Inflation Reduction Act already amended that. But that's not what this is doing. All his EO does is *ask* pharmaceutical companies to lower prices, with the threat of enacting most favored nation regulations if they don't. But he already tried that five years ago, and it was shot down as unconstitutional, so I doubt the threat will carry much weight this time around.

trump's exec order is just another one of his farts Congress passed a LAW prohibiting the govt from negotiating prescription drug prices when Medicare coverage of prescription drugs was first authorized. Aren't there people on his staff to tell him it's a law, and only Congress can change it? Now, Congress did make significant changes to the law under President Biden's leadership *The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, signed into law by President Biden in August 2022, includes several provisions to lower prescription drug costs for people with Medicare and reduce drug spending by the federal government. One of the Act’s key drug-related provisions is a requirement for the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to negotiate prices with drug companies for certain drugs covered under Medicare Part D (starting in 2026) and Part B (starting in 2028). This requirement is the culmination of years of debate among lawmakers over whether to grant the federal government the authority to negotiate drug prices in Medicare, and is being implemented at the same time that several lawsuits have been filed seeking to thwart this effort*.

Many many drug are strictly regulated and their prices set BY LAW in my country, we even told Switzerland to fuck off when they tried to pressure a change in policy. We won't be paying more, in fact, because US's prices were taking into account to determine cots, those drugs will probably go down.

It doesnt matter, Medicare is still massive, relative to other health insurance programs, in America. What part of the facts that Medicare is, BY LAW, NOT allowed to negotiate prices lower do you not understand? If that changes, prices that Americans pay for drugs will FALL, no matter how “shitty” you think it is.

If it’s done right I don’t think this is a bad thing. Despite me absolutely hating Trump, I think the idea is good. But what I don’t like is congress not doing their fucking jobs and making it into LAW. The president having broad “legislative” power with these EOs is absolutely an abuse of power. As we’ve seen with so many of them clearly being outside the scope of the president’s authority. Congress needs to get off their ass and do something. The president is outside his authority.

All that would do is fuel the arguments against it: if social security isn’t FOR everyone, then it’s nothing more than a naked redistribution scheme, and it will get the full force of monied political power turned against it. Its wide acceptance today is specifically because everyone gets benefits, even if they will ultimately pay into it in more than they ever receive out of it. The cap and universal limited benefit exists to keep the system politically viable. You may be able to lift the cap a little bit, but if you remove universal benefit or cap benefit but not the contribution, then you turn it from a public insurance program into a naked redistribution program. The problem with “acceptance” of our safety net programs in the U.S. isn’t that they are a bad idea, it’s that increasingly, those who are forced to pay for the schemes don’t see any benefits, and those who benefit don’t have to feel any of the pain of having to fund the programs. This lopsided treatment of people leads to division within the society as the net payers feel used, and the net receivers are incentivized to keep voting for the state to reach deeper and harder into other people’s pockets. Unequal treatment BY LAW begins to look a lot like state-enforced exploitation. Pair that with the fact that “the rich” have more resources to fight exploitative systems, and you have just concocted a recipe for the collapse of that system altogether, as the net payers will just take their ball and go home.

you are twisting things. the issue is the data being stored safely and not being accessed by anyone, esp the US gov. you brought up the guidance saying it was offered. encrypting was part of the guidance. i pointed out the guidance was not enough, since decrypting it in the US would be required if the NSA requested the data which invalidates compliance. you are saying to leave the data in europe, which doesnt matter. the NSA can still force the data to be handed over regardless of where it is stored. so again, invalid. that pdf does not say that the company could comply with both EU and US laws at once. it said that the protection must match the level of EU law or be suspended. in fact the quote you linked proves my point, it says the US LAW DOES NOT ALLOW THE EU LAW TO BE SATISFIED up to EU law requirement because they are not limited to the strictly necessary data. "are not circumscribed in a way that satisfies requirements that are essentially equivalent to those required under EU law, by the principle of proportionality, in so far as the surveillance programmes based on those provisions are not limited to what is STRICTLY NECESSARY" read your own sources maybe? last the only way to comply would be to create separate entities that operate only in EU (infrastructure, algos, companies, etc) and isolate the whole area. which defeats the purpose of their product.

ok I've been reading your comments and it seemed somewhat alright, but this comment is simply #COMPLETELY OUT OF TOUCH 1. You did this in the ~90's , and probably benefited from the birth of the internet in some way. 2. If only few people who are "privileged" go to college that proves that OP is right about the shrinking possibility of class movement, and greater divide between elite and poor. 3. OP aspires to be a LAWYER. You cannot be a LAWYER without a LAW DEGREE. Now, you are right that the best way to make money is working for yourself, but I would like to know if OP is becoming a lawyer for money or passion. If it is for money, OP, please reconsider. Being a lawyer is torturous, especially if you aren't passionate about it. Entrepeneurship will make you far more money for less money and a similar amount of work.

He needed to take a few classes in CONTRACT LAW. Tariffs and duties are the responsibility of the importer. >"a recent order of livestock feed cost him **$2,200 extra d**ue to [tariffs](https://www.syracuse.com/politics/2025/04/how-will-trumps-tariffs-work-how-soon-until-prices-might-rise.html). The feed came from Ontario, and **he mistakenly believed his supplier at the Canadian mill would cover the difference."** >“I’m not even sure it’s legal! We contracted for the price on delivery,” he told the magazine. “If your price of fuel goes up or your truck breaks down, that’s not my problem! That’s what the contract’s for.” The tariffs are not between him and the feed mill, it's between him and the US Customs.

There is NO LAW letting Trump do this. Congress has control under the US constitution. California is challenging the emergencies act from the 1970s. Which is what Trump is using to do his tariff ploy. Either way. This will take a long time to resolve. As do most legal issues
