Yes! And a word on MP as of late. I urge readers to be sensitive to the thesis of my posts. I have no doubt whatsoever about the strength and resilience of the company and I remain as bullish as ever. The tricky thing, however, is always timing. Hence, my thesis has always been that companies like it will benefit tremendously over the course of this administration. Short-term movements are harder to pin down with certainty.

Why is MP dropping?

Mentions:#MP

Any company producing material goods for the government will more than likely be affect by tariffs since most of the inputs are globally sourced (screws, electronics etc). This will increase costs for AXON so they will definitely be affected. Companies like MP Materials (Mountain Pass Rare Earth Mine NYSE: MP) wouldn't be impacted since they operate a mine in the USA. A word of caution though - the mine is nowhere near as profitable as the Chinese ones and it's heavily subsidized by DOD. Makes sense because the USA pays its workers a living wage among other things. The value you have identified is artificial (created via tariffs/trade war) and can be wiped out in a minute if the tariffs are removed or the trade war dies down.

OSI is the bible, and you should read it, but later. An easier read is [Options for the Beginner and Beyond](https://www.r-5.org/files/books/trading/schoolbooks/W_Edward_Olmstead-Options_for_the_Beginner_and_Beyond-EN.pdf) by Professor Olmstead of Northwestern University. I found it online some months ago when I was looking for a pdf book to point someone to. It might not be the best, but it's certainly not the worst; it's just a good, solid book on options. Read most of it, then go off and watch YT videos. In the Money Adam is the GOAT, but there are other good ones. Mike and His White Board comes to mind. And play around on OptionStrat dot com to see what the various strategies look like. And then keep it simple. Do you buy stocks now? If so, why? Because you expect them to go up, right? So once you learn options, do the same, but buy long-dated Calls as *stock substitutes*. You'll get 3-5 times leverage to the stock or ETF. And then sell Calls against those Calls. The Poor Man's Covered Call. Google "In the Money Adam PMCC" and watch his tutorial on them. Honestly, that's all anyone needs to know about options. Think like a long-term investor, then express your theses with long Calls. (And if you're inclined to spend 20 bucks, buy Mike Yuen's [Intrinsic: Using LEAPS to Retire Early](https://www.amazon.com/INTRINSIC-Using-LEAPS-Retire-Early/dp/0578814161/ref=sr_1_1?crid=MP9TAM0K7QT5&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.tc1jvwZ8ryBIJK0P9QBkWg.a0Wy5ALC9ysuJB7p5OAa6jf6mSrnGyzvcNlEgtVaXT4&dib_tag=se&keywords=intrinsic%2C+using+leaps+to+retire+early+by+mike+yuen&qid=1746413126&sprefix=mike+yuen+intr%2Caps%2C234&sr=8-1). He's the one who got me to my current state of being consistently profitable after some years of trading options.)

And under any other administration, I’d agree with your assessment. The amount of EPA regulations and lack of desire on the part of politicians to pursue change would have held this thing up in courts for years. Not under the Trump administration. NOAA is already starting the permitting process (as TMC announced) and tech has innovated enough to provide the proof of principle that it can actually work if authorized. So, as long as they get legislation in place before the mid-terms to solidify, I see this company growing like I see MP Materials growing. Is it a gamble? Absolutely. Is it a bad gamble? Clearly, I don’t think so. Personally, I think it’ll stagnate short term until the news of approved permits comes out.

I think that Black Iron (BKI.TO), Energy Fuels (UUUU), MP Materials (MP), Glencore (GLNCY), and American Battery Technology Company (ABML) are the top five mining companies to watch, as they are best positioned to benefit from increased demand for critical minerals and U.S. investment in Ukrainian and allied resource development.

The American system is not set up to remove poorly performing presidents like ours is for prime ministers. Unless a large number of republicans in the house and congress vote to impeach and then remove him (which requires a 2/3rds majority), literally nothing can be done, and the supreme court has ruled that he cannot be prosecuted for any 'official act'. Our system requires PMs to win routine votes to prevent the government collapsing, MPs can replace them without calling a new election, and it has more room for independents to compete if an MP turns on their party, which empowers them to remove and select a new PM much more easily.

After that Uncle G told stories, we ate some fine cheese and cured meats, he pulled out an expensive bottle of wine, and things loosened up. Later in the evening, he asked me to go into his bedroom which was off the main room to get his cell phone so he could give my mom his new number. He instructed that if it wasn't on top of his dresser it was in the chest at the foot of his bed. I went into the dark room, found the wall switch witch turned on a dim 1970s ceiling fan light with a fan that reluctantly started turning and buzzing. The bedroom was equally as sparce but still tasteful like the living room. A room where a once great, but now lonely man sleeps. The aforementioned cellphone was nowhere to be seen on the wooden dresser. I saw a large metal foot locker looking thing at the foot of his bed which had a pad-lock on it that was hanging open so I assumed that's what he meant by the chest. I removed the lasp of the lock and opened the chest. I didn't find the old man single flip phone I was expecting along with some old blankets or national geographics, but a pile of blackberry phones, improbable grids of neatly stacked 20 dollar bills with thick orange rubber-bands going down who knows how deep, a stack of documents, another black safe, and a Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun. I slowly closed the chest as quietly as I could. I went back to the kitchen and simply told my great uncle I couldn't find it. "Oh, turns I had it in my pocket!" He smiled while sipping wine. Later on, once I'd heard what happened, it occurred to me that he was probably slipping even then, but at the time I had no idea what the fuck to make of it, and kept my mouth shut. A few more years past by, and I was informed that a waitress where he ate breakfast every morning had befriended him and was found to be living with him and trying to move a bunch of the money which is what got her caught. She's still in prison. After that, his first daughter intervened and got him into a military retirement home where he died in 2021.

On the above strapts, that is not true of the first 2. Yes true of the 3rd and so you have to balance risk but it gives you the ability to increase your upside potential whilst limiting down side losses on high risk growth stocks. You even have the option to exit the position if you lose faith in the stock or to roll the position I'd you are still bullish. The key thing options give you is leverage. They are no riskier than holding stocks, they just afford you a greater controlling interest in the stocks. The difficult thing is to not watch them like you're day trading, just make a plan and stick with it, until you make a new plan. For transparency I am holding leaps in RDDT, DELL, BABA, DEVN, MP, RXRX & UUUU. I have also sold puts on RDDT ($80 strike, $3k prem with Jan27 expiration). Main portfolio is a mixture of funds and equities but centering around AI and Indian market.

People keep finding more and more excuses for his behaviour but when does it end? Unfortunately I don't live in the US so calling my MP won't do me much good. [This](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/25/donald-trump-2028-merchandise-online-store) is another thing that seems to be totally absent from discussion. Once again people seem to be ignoring and underestimating the problem with wishful thinking. He is not leaving office willingly in 2029.

We already were subsidizing the mining industry with the Chips Act and Infrastructure Act. Look up MP Materials. They got a boatload of money for their new mine from the government. That's what I don't get about these idiots. The former's plans worked. Heavy industry was growing again and at a huge clip. Genuinely good scenario to consider. So for clarity, I was referring to the national stockpile. Yes, companies (probably) don't have large stockpiles. We can only guess - maybe 3 months in Automotive based on scant public information. Without rationing and assuming the national stockpile was used to fill in the gap for everything we wanted to produce, we would be looking at 6-12 months. Less if the national stockpile was not used, more if REE rationing was implemented. But there are a lot of nuances. 2023 congressional report indicates the national stockpile would supply about 50% of military needs and 6% of all domestic needs without replenishment. So it comes down to how much faster can existing companies scale up, and how fast can new companies be brought online. The general answer is 2027 according to government estimates. As for Greenland and Ukraine, yes, those are potential suppliers. But the US is sitting on very significant deposits. And I believe the Trump administration just issued an executive order greenlighting deep sea mineral mining (don't have the details near me). But the argument is not that REEs would be in short supply, but whether China cutting off the US would save them. Thought experiment: Month 1-3: US scrambles for survival - stockpiles deplete rapidly. Military needs prioritizes, REEs are rationed, civilian sectors like consumer electronics see production cuts. Prices soar. US declares national emergency and privatizes reserves. US purchases all available overseas supplies but capacity can't fully replace China. Month 4-6: Stockpiles deplete, EV production drops by 50%, defense projects face delays. Alternative suppliers (Japan, Estonia) can't scale up fast enough, covering only 20-30% of prior imports. US accelerates efforts by MP to scale domestic supply but domestic refining capacity is insufficient. Recycling efforts step up targeting old electronics. Month 7-12: Adaptation - EV makers switch to REE-free motors (lower efficiency). Defense leans on substitutes where possible. MP ramps up to 1300 tons/year, far short of the 8000-1000 tons/year needed. Imports and domestic efforts cover 40-45% of needs. So the US would be pretty fucked in the short term. So I will reassess my earlier opinion - that is a fairly strong argument for protracted negotiations with China as the US buys time and builds our own supply chain. That also suggests that there is likely some pretty big developments underway in the REE space right now. Most of all, that is also a very strong argument for long term decoupling from China.

TMC, NB, LYSDY, ILKAY, USAR, MP. Who's slurping these up?

MP Materials is [the only scaled rare earth production site in North America](https://beyondspx.com/article/mp-materials-corp-pioneering-rare-earth-production-and-magnet-manufacturing-in-the-united-states) and those tariffs on China were a total disaster. TMC needs to be removed from your list since they're just burning cash with no revenue and their deep sea mining tech doesn't even work yet.

Mentions:#MP#TMC

There’s going to be some news on the U.S. investing in domestic rare earth minerals, and it absolutely has to be a positive catalyst for MP if there is any justice in this market. There is no other domestic company even remotely close to processing at scale in the U.S. Even MP is probably years away from truly ramping up to a level that results in significant revenue, and for all anyone knows they could never actually turn a profit, but they have a large processing facility opening by year end and are closer than anyone else in the U.S. After the rare earth EO we have to get some more news on this soon.

So MP is up nearly 15% today? After dropping 15% the other day when they said they won't export to china anymore and focus on stockpiling for when their processing factory goes fully online in a few months. CEO Litinsky prepared for years for this. Now with full support from current administration, MP will be the REE US stronghold.

It is, especially with Chinese state backed companies controlling the supply and dumping the prices of REE and refined products making this sector in US unprofitable (made in USA being 10x more expensive). Checkout MP materials (ticket MP). They are the only US company with the whole processing chain and will stand behind all these moves. CEO Litinsky prepared for these moves for years, tied with current administration and 🥭 personally will bring this sector to life. Also once minerals deal in place, supply of primary ores secured.

I've got some May MP options and some USAR lotto tickets. USAR is squeezy de-spac that probably is actually worthless. But it's called 'US Rare Earth Minerals', I figure Mango would much prefer to give money to a company with 'US' in it's name rather than a legitimate operation.

Thank you to the WSB guy who did his DD on rare earth stocks. Just sold my MP calls.

They’ve been prioritizing it. Companies like MP Materials have received substantial subsidies from the Science and Chip Act. I don’t know why they trying credit Trump for it.

I bought UUUU and MP because of your posts. Also got in on MILIF and UAMY.

You can check my recent posts. My biggest are MP and UUUU. However, I have $800,000 invested in the sector, broadly speaking.
