Yes, it is true high beta names like ASTS, OKLO, NBIS, RKLB, IREN, MP, etc., are down quite severely from their ATHs, but that’s the name of the game with stocks like this. Just ride it out. We’ll be fine. Thesis hasn’t changed. Also, you all probably need to learn to manage risk better.

That’s true, environmental concerns are the primary issue, MP is building a facility in Texas which should open in 6 months time. They don’t give a shit about things like that in Texas, what could be more likely though is what you’ve said about offshoring it to nearby countries which the US has good relationship with. QUBT probably going up double digits from its current spot by EOD tomorrow. Dip below the golden ratio retracement at open, then rip double digits. Seen it with many stocks lately -- most recently MP -- and I doubt this one bucks the trend. As long as algos and MM care about technicals, they matter because they have all the money, creating a manifest destiny. Always risky to buy 1DTE, but the odds are, imo, favorable to take the risk this time on QUBT.

I sold that at a few months ago. I saw the rare crunch coming and starting buying stocks like CRML, M<P, REEMF, Lynas and NGM fall of 2024. Held them for months with no movement. Finally figured I my rare earth thesis was wrong and sold all but REEMF and some MP in April this year... about 3 weeks before all the rare earth stocks exploded!

And? Does any of this change the fact that their board is made up exclusively of finance bro's and hoe's with no technical or operational expertise? Show me the geologist? Show me the mining engineer on the board? Their ASX announcements are seriously lacking in any substance, in terms of their TREO basket breakdown, or on the details around their antimony ingot. Needs more metallurgy and comprehensive assay data. Also, on the topic of their REE project. It abuts Mountain Pass. Now...I don't know if you know much about Carbonatites, or Exploration in general. But If I was MP Materials. I would have done a preliminary look around my flagship project, looking for any additional targets. Seems suss that LKY has managed to peg ground around Mountain Pass. I'm not saying that the big boy don't make mistakes. They do. And American companies aren't that great at exploration. But. I can almost guarantee that MP has had a squizz at these and gone "nah, not for us". Also, Carbonatites are zoned to buggery. Mt Weld is a classic example. 80% of that carbonatite is barren AF and has no economic concentrations of REE's.

This is a weird play that I consider defensive, but it's really just paranoia that all the money I've clicked buttons to make could become much less due to a possible USD crash. The stock looks promising, my concern with it is the production cost. If it ends up like MP Materials it may not be worth it. At an estimate of 2000 tons produced per year by 666.66 employees (48k/year avg salary) and a cost of 18mill to keep the buildings up. You have a net income of 126,000,000 per year. This exceeds the eps of .0904 that we planned for above, and it looks right, but for some reason MP materials cannot achieve these figures, so that is the only concern.

MP is rich in valuation, no ifs and ors about it. The main thing you're betting on is long-term the US wants to stop depending on China for rare earth production. You have the DOE vested in the company and you have Apple partnered with them.

Some people floated this idea because the rare earths announcement never made it mainstream and it seemed like a likely caused otherwise. Others said the dems' deal was always on the table and it was nothing knew so most people were confused. A lot of SOX stocks have turned around more during the day e.g. NVDA and even in the after market. I really don't think they get impacted by the impact shut down as much. Stocks like MP also went up 12.8%. Sure they had an earnings beat (but in the past week earnings didn't help).

We’re have/are reaching April lows in other segments of the market (BDCs/Midstreams). I’ve been adding. I’m not good at timing selloffs. I did sell some $190 NVDA puts that got assigned to me after Friday close. I increased my position. All indicators are upcoming earning will be extremely strong. 2026 seems exceptionally strong, so I want to be long. I’m wrong often, so take that for what you will. Also sell weekly covered calls on my AMZN when it makes sense, another week, kept the shares and premium. Friday seemed like the bottom, and expect stocks to rally next week. Will sell calls on AMZN again when it is up around $150. This generates the cash for my short list. (BDCs/Midstreams primarily) I’m watching OKLO/MP. I’ll humor you because I just got off work & I’m bored. I do R&D for Cat & other than getting the Abrams contract let me tell you why we absolutely crushed the fuck out of our earnings call. It’d because we’re selling more earth moving vehicles and R&D hours to companies & Governments than we ever have and we will continue to do so in 2026. Companies like MP materials which is in the same sector as USA Rare Earth but is commercialized unlike the latter and I’m in an industry that directly supports it and it clearly reflects in the share price. Insult to injury rare earths and uranium through companies like TMC, LITM, and LAC make up 11.2% of my P&L because they directly support data centers & hyperscalers and we directly support them, it’s an ecosystem. (All of this is publicly available information too @ SEC) OP is not a coddled idiot and had enough resolve to come ask on here what to do and got a clear answer with no additional context needed and if they wanted to know more they’d simply ask, research, or sell and move on and both you goobers are being uppity asf whiny fuckers annoying me for the sake of it. MP should recover nicely over the next 5 or so years. Valuations just ran waaaay ahead of actual market growth. For example, a couple years ago I valued MP at about 60-75 by 2028 due to expected REE market growth. So when the stock hit that price range ahead of time, it became clear sentiment had out run fundamentals.  I'd still be willing to hold because the DoD and apple deals should greatly improve profitability and the REE magnet market should still grow quite broadly.

You’ve learned an important lesson. Your set and forget mindset is what cooked you here. You knew things would slow down, and what? You shrugged and just.. forgot? I’ve been watching MP since the pentagon deal in July pushed it to $40+. The entire reason why tickers like MP and UAMY (who was sub $5) cranked is because China looked to retaliate against the US via minerals and rare earths. The US doesn’t have the infrastructure for rare earths like China does. So when the threat came, the US found itself in an “oh shit, we need the infrastructure before we can have the minerals” -> MP cranks to $90, UAMY cranks to $17+ in under a few weeks. And for a minute, it seemed like they weren’t going to work it out. Trump at one point straight up said he might not even meet with China. You can’t tell me you missed this because the whole market went red when it happened. When they finally met, and worked it out- smart money started running for the exits. Every single day MP dropped hard, and it didn’t stop dropping. Now MP is headed back to $40. UAMY is back to $6 lol Set and forget doesn’t mean literally forget when you play stocks like this. You gotta keep checking in.

US gov announced today that copper, silver and rhenium (among others) are all critical metals. NAK has those in abundance. Gov's legal response in court to NAK's motion is due on Jan 2. I would think that the Gov and NAK work out a deal - Gov green lights Pebble and Gov gets a percentage of NAK (similar to UAMY and TMQ and MP). Downside is there, but limited compared to big upside if deal is worked out in the next few weeks.
