Okay I have one or two questions here.. I'm currently on SSI and so the maximum I could have in my account is $2,000 but we are also allowed to have what's called an Able account (CalAble here in California) with up to $100K... I don't want to be on SSI forever, so I'm starting to look at ways to maybe invest some money while I'm working part time. And yes, I know if I start to make significant money I will have to tell SSI and my SSI could be canceled. I had to double check and yes you can retire here in the PH with 600k *technically*. *if you're not splurging then yeah. You can buy a parcel of land in the provinces around 5usd/sqm and building a house there is around 250usd/sqm(assuming you're just building a proper 100 sqm house). Food is cheaper there too(as long as you cook it yourself). So yeah.

But there is also just the reality of it which is they did suffer serious setbacks that aren't things they'll recover from any time soon. The only way this really becomes a drawn out mess is if we put boots on the ground and I highly doubt that happens at least in large numbers. Again, If I am wrong I will absolutely vote accordingly. It won’t dip it will sell-off. It will rise because people tonight see that it increased 40% AH. Tomorrow morning PH it will increase an additional 30 to 40%. Then there will be a massive sell off and a lot of bag holders. There is a reason this post came at AH close. This stock pumped 45 min ago out of nowhere. Tomorrow will be the dump during PH. I have watched this pattern now for a 2 weeks. I am starting to think it is the same group of investors repeating the same P&D formula.

My concern with investing in the US is that there are high taxes for foreigners, currency exchange is too high, and fees regarding transferring/withdrawing money to/from my broker which forced me to do this in large sums just to take advantage of the fees. Before I even buy, I'm already at a loss. If I could solve at least half of these problems, then I would definetely go all in with US. Which is also why I'm still more invested in the the PH (no index names in my portfolio) compared to US market.

I live in the Philippines. I know that wages are low here, but it's an unequal society and the segment of the Filipino community who are on reddit tend to be the highest earners. Go on the PH invest sub and see for yourself. And shame on your company for paying the equivalent of 14k PHP. That's basically minimum wage in the Philippines. I know people working basic call center jobs here making 2x that.
