# SONY is quietly up over 20% in the past 60 days. The stock was making some rumblings on Reddit over the past few months as a physical AI play. They dominate the CMOS image sensor market which is speculated to boom along with a potential robotics bull market. In at $21.44 and will continue to add at this price.
SONY is the single most attractive upside to risk ratio in the market. \- image sensors - the “eyes” of physical AI, also the single most expensive component in iPhones - of which Sony is the sole supplier. Self-driving cars require 12-16 image sensors and precision industrial automation will require millions of units for all steps in the manufacturing/industrial process. \- music: steady 8-10% CAGR since 2019. Sony is the 2nd largest label and largest music publisher in the world. \- gaming: PlayStation has destroyed the Xbox since mid ps4 cycle. Deep pocketed companies like Google, Microsoft and others have taken their shot at the living room and have all failed. All 3rd party studios pay Sony a 30% platform fee of every sale. Their first party studios make some of the best gaming experiences in the world. Sony Pictures: have highly profitable deals with streamers with Netflix being the most lucrative around $7B kicking in in 2027 and ending in 2032. Sony owns the most profitable movie ip in Spider-Man and generally have been the most steadily profitable studio over the last 5-10 years once factoring in streaming revenue it’s not particularly close.

SONY GTA 6 nears $500 million in pre-order revenue with 77% sales on PS5
Take-Two is obviously priced in. I opened a position on $SONY though since they have a few huge potential catalysts
I have TTWO leaps expiring end of Dec 2027. Also started positions on SONY in the last 2 months as they’ve started to end physical discs and is transitioning into the next phase of AI - robotics. But otherwise been in NVDA, INTC and AMD forever.
Yeah in TTWO for GTA and also some SONY
Even though SONY these days have controversy?:?
I invest in SONY. I've been a PS fan ever since the PS1 days.
There are new credible GTA6 leaks (see r/ gamingleaksandrumors). If these are remotely true then my SONY stock position is f\*cked
20 was the bottom. You know it because SONY management immediately announced a 4% buyback of their entire float. Definitely temporary market price dislocation. It’s now up 21% since then. But still at least 50% appreciation potential to get back to consensus price targets in the 30-35 range, simply going back to last November’s ATH.
You timed it well, 20 was definitely the bottom. You know it because when it hit 20, management immediately announced a massive 4% stock buyback of SONY’s ENTIRE float. That’s a crazy big share buyback.

IMO, SONY could've been the next Apple but they always find a way to fumble their greatness so we shall see what becomes of the company if it doesn't get acquired in some way then...
SONY seems cheap at current prices, Spiderman/GTA6 nearterm and TSMC collabo sensors long-term...
SONY is an incredible company and a great way to diversify with all their different segments, and their geographical footprint.
SONY owns 50% global market share in CMOS image sensors, the "eyes of robots and self-driving cars". SONY is the exclusive supplier of CMOS image sensors to every iPhone (CMOS is what allows your phone to actually take photos), and and also supplies Tesla's self-driving cars and humanoid robots.
I'm bullish on SONY stock for several reasons. SONY is a classic value play: stock reached all-time-high last November, then got hit hard by memory chip shortage on its gaming business. Now that memory chip stocks are coming back to earth, SONY is on the rise again last 1-2 months, with 50% appreciation potential to get back to November ATH once memory chip shortage (temporary supply shock) clears up in 2027. In terms of fundamental analysis, several things really exciting about Sony: 1. Sony under new CEO Totoki has been spinning off legacy low growth segments such as consumer TV and financial services (life insurance in Japan), these historically added to the conglomerate discount on Sony stock, splitting SONY as an entertainment, chip, consumer electronics, and financial services company. Now SONY is essentially just an entertainment and chip company, much higher growth and simpler structure. 2. Massive competitive landscape improvements. In early 2022, Xbox announced the acquisition of Activision, and everyone thought Xbox was going to make Activision games exclusive. 4 years later, the EXACT OPPOSITE happened, Xbox couldn’t make back the massive $70B price tag of Activision, and now it’s made not only Activision games multi platform on PS5, but also Bethesda and even its core Xbox studios games. Turns out in the history of video games that the Xbox Activision acquisition was a massive BOON for Sony, b/c it forever destroyed its top competitor Xbox as a walled garden console exclusive, so now essentially all Xbox games are also on PS5. 3. Development of AI since 2022. Generative AI is the first stage of AI, while Physical AI is the next stage of AI (NVIDIA and Tesla both betting their companies future on Physical AI). Sony is the #1 player in Physical AI chips. It just signed a massive new JV with TSMC to make such Physical AI chips. Sony’s chip business just doubled its operating income last quarter, and is now Sony’s SECOND LARGEST segment, right after gaming, and is by far the fastest growing segment. Sony is just now starting to capitalize on AI, and the market is still far from pricing in its AI value. For a helpful explainer video of Sony’s AI chip business, you can search ‘Sony chip stock investor’ on YouTube. Therefore, fundamentally, SONY is up for a massive rebound when memory shortage clears (it already has, just look at recent cratering of memory chip stocks), market is just now starting to re-price this shortage as a temporary supply shock that's clearing up now. While SONY holds massive call option on physical AI chips, where it is the world's #1 player in (that's why TSMC picked SONY as JV partner). Also doesn't hurt that SONY's Spider-Man Brand New Day is now the 12th highest earning move OF ALL TIME after less than 2 weeks, and is on track to become a top 3 highest earning movie of all time.
What your describing is chart reading, not fundamental analysis. Several things happened to Sony in last 5 years that precipitates longer-term fundamental improvements: 1) Sony under new CEO Totoki has been spinning off legacy low growth segments such as consumer TV and financial services (life insurance in Japan), these historically added to the conglomerate bloat that resulted in a significant conglomerate discount on Sony stock. 2) Massive competitive landscape improvements. The first big SONY stock price pullback I assume you’re referring to is in early 2022 when Xbox announced the acquisition of Activision, that’s when Sony stock took a dive from $25 to under $20 b/c everyone thought Xbox was going to make Activision exclusive. 4 years later, the EXACT OPPOSITE happened, Xbox couldn’t make back the massive $70B price tag of Activision, and now it’s made not only Activision games multi platform on PS5, but also Bethesda and even its core Xbox studios games. Turns out the history of video games that the Xbox Activision acquisition was a massive BOON for Sony, b/c it forever destroyed its top competitor Xbox as a walled garden console exclusive, so now all Xbox games are also on PS5. 3) Development of AI since 2022. Generative AI is the first stage of AI, while Physical AI is the next stage of AI (Jensen and Elon both betting their companies future on Physical AI). Sony is the #1 player in Physical AI chips. It just signed a massive new JV with TSMC to make such Physical AI chips. Sony’s chip business doubled its revenue last quarter, and is now Sony’s SECOND LARGEST segment, right after gaming, and is by far the fastest growing segment. Sony is just now starting to capitalize on AI, and the market is still far from pricing in its AI value. For a helpful explainer video of Sony’s AI chip business, you can search ‘Sony chip stock investor’ on YouTube. Therefore, fundamentally, Sony is a much better company now than it was 5 years ago. This last big pullback was because of the memory shortage when SNDK was trading at $2000 a share, now that SNDK and MU stocks are cratering, SONY stock is on the rise again. The memory shortage is a temporary supply shock, 1-2 years at most, and it’s already fading now.

SONY PlayStation what a year 2026 🤯 LFG https://youtube.com/shorts/F4IkH2rQQJU?is=w22S\_J-EbYfx4yZ9
Yeah I get you. When it comes to the fandoms I think Nintendo has more hardcore fans than Sony. But that’s only on the gaming side. But Sony’s not just PlayStation like I alluded to. I do think it’s most valuable asset today isn’t PlayStation but its Music segment. Consider this, for the last fiscal year, PlayStation/SIE generated $31 Billion in revenue and $3 Billion in profit. Sony’s music segment on the other hand generated $14 Billion in revenue and $2.96 Billion in profit. That’s profits that are pretty much neck and neck with PlayStation’s with significantly less revenue. Also within the music segment is the heart of Sony’s anime business, which is Aniplex. So basically your Demon Slayer, Monogatari, Madoka Majika, Fate etc that’s got loads of passionate fans are basically from Sony. Sony has a tight grip on the fastest growing segment/demographic of entertainment (anime). Gaming is a somewhat mature business. We even see Sony’s anime strategy with the success of the Demon Slayer infinity castle movie last year. So the production company behind Demon Slayer anime is Aniplex. Aniplex then licenses the IP to its sister company, Sony Pictures (using Crunchyroll) to distribute it worldwide. The film is a massive box office hit and brings in $780 Million at the global box office (outgrossed Superman btw). That then ties back into Aniplex who owns the merchandise rights and sees a significant upside from merch and toy sales. Sony music Japan also owns the music too and gets a boost in revenue from that. This is called a flywheel. And Sony has perfected this flywheel vertical integration with it’s entertainment businesses. They also did it with The Last of Us where they took the IP from PlayStation, gave it to Sony pictures television to turn it into a hit show for HBO and then that drove up sales for TLOU games on PlayStation. See what I’m saying. Sony can take one IP and monetize it different ways and keep everything in house. Nintendo is now trying that with their IP but have to share the profits cos they do not own their own movie studio or theme park. In fact most of the box office upside for Mario movies go to Universal. Not Nintendo. So yeah always remember that Sony’s not just PlayStation. They’re far from it. They’re the company that pockets your money when you stream Beyonce or Michael Jackson, or when you buy a Tanjiro figure, or when you watch a Spiderman film in theaters. That’s massive moat that is unique to them and them only. Whether you like it or not, fan or not, YOU WILL GIVE SONY MONEY. You can avoid Nintendo by not buying their consoles or games. With Sony it’s much harder to almost impossible unless you avoid all entertainment altogether
All of this PlayStation hate regarding physical discs makes me really want to buy SONY
**Physical AI & TSMC Partnership:** SONY is building a massive joint-venture manufacturing facility in Koshi, Kumamoto, Japan, in partnership with TSMC. This facility is dedicated to producing the next generation of image sensors with built-in AI, targeting mass production by late 2029 to meet the industry's 2030 demands.
Gangster Don is looking 👀 at Japan 🇯🇵 💰 SONY
You want to be buying $SONY or at least Pacific Asia/Japanese ETF's if you think Robotics is gonna be the next big thing. Disclosure - I'm heavily invested in $EWJ with a small individual $SONY position b/c I agree.
SONY is low key in the best position to take advantage of physical AI adoption with their image sensors.

Article is wrong, SK Hynix themselves confirmed they'll be issuing ADS in their F1 filing. You can check it yourself, their temp ticker(SKHYV) for today have ADS in its name. ADRs are legally required to include it in their stock name, that's why NTDOY and BABA has ADR in their name while ADS listing like TSM doesn't. ADS = Actual shares sold here but ratioed so it doesn't share the same voting powers as their original primary listing, you are buy and holding the US denominated shares of the foreign company directly. Examples would be ASML, TSM, IREN, etc. ADR = Bundle of ADS held by banks and financial institutes, there's sponsored and unsponsored version of this. You purchase the receipt representing X amount of ADS but you don't own it and have no voting rights unless it's sponsored, like in the case of SONY, TM, etc. Prime unsponsored ADR examples would be NTDOY(Nintendo), it merely tracks Nintendo based on the ratio but don't influence it at all because Nintendo doesn't consider it to exist. For ease of explaining, they'll just tell you "ya it's ADR" to shut investors up, but it's crucial as an investor to know the difference if you are buying huge amount and care about voting powers.
Are people still in on SONY?
SONY SONY Sony's primary optical microlens and micro-optics manufacturing happens at the Sony DADC facility in Thalgau, Austria and via Sony Semiconductor Solutions in Japan. They also get 30% of every GTA 6 digital sale, they announced a partnership with TSMC, and people will buy PS5s just to play GTA 6. I think we hit the bottom for SONY at $19.50
Agreed. I’m currently invested in SONY which provide the eyes for physical AI
SONY is a great buy right now. With GTA6 coming out a lot of PS4 players will be forced to buy PS5s if to play.
Why would SONY win? SONY's been a poor performer like a mfer

SONY is making terrible decisions currently. Would not invest lol
No way SONY stays under 20.00. Next month HA chart wants to rip imo.
You already know SONY is the play at these levels
Starter position on SONY here with 200 shares under 20. No brainer imo
Anyone eyeing up SONY under 20? Eyes Of ai with all their lens exposure in Different phones etc? I’m getting a heavy bullish vibe here. Planning on scooping some I think.
Little SONY making little moves before close . I see you Sony 👀
What’s everyone’s thoughts on SONY? I’ve been DCA’ing shares as it drops with the memory price spikes, they have like a 15 P/E I feel strong about adding but not sure when sentiment will change on it
All it takes is some regard on CNBC to say “the robots need AI enabled CMOS” and $SONY will shrek dick. Remember this 🧙♂️ 🔮
And my SONY shares are red overnight lol
So when is SONY hitting 100
Been interested in SONY, especially after their TSMC partnership, seems a nice position to long.
In May I profited $15k from SPY 0dte, in June, I have given back 70% of the profits. My last are locked up in SONY leaps. Follow me to retardation. SONY TO $1000.
SONY, Will not take further questions, but I see a large jump in value over the horizon if they allocate their internal portfolio correctly
Buy SONY. They will manufacture all the sensors. They have +50% market share
This is the dumbest bubble EVER. With all that said if nothing matters is to sell everything and BTD on semis than I will join the crowd and buy back into $EWY. I also bought more $SONY and $VXUS. Make America Great Again polices have made the DXY weaker and the rest of the world richer I'm afraid.
Agree, SONY CMOS image sensor is a much better play on robotic and self-driving car perception since those are actually mandatory, whereas LIDARS are optional and in fact aren't used on 99% of robots and most self-driving cars that's not Waymo.
The major issue with LiDAR for physical AI is that it's way too expensive, Ouster LiDARS start at $3k and goes over $20k each. When mass market humanoids like Tesla Optimus are priced at under $20k, and cheap ones are as low as $5k each, there's simply not economical to put LiDARS on robots, and that's why you don't see LiDARs on mass market robots and humanoids. The cost is only justifiable for premium self-driving cars like Waymo. Elon Musk is famously anti-LiDAR, he says humans don't drive cars shooting lasers out of their eyes. CMOS image sensors, especially the physical AI ones built by SONY, is a much cleaner way to play Physical AI perception. These are fundamental, every robot and self-driving car needs CMOS image sensors, whereas LiDAR is optional, and not on the majority of robots and self-driving cars.
Anyone think $SONY is a good buy?
