I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve heard “but AI can’t even answer/do THIS…” only to find out the person was using the free version with no tool use or TTC. I run the exact same prompt in thinking mode on my plus account and it nails it first try. If anything, OpenAI offering a free version has only hurt their image as people come to try out AI for the first time and are left disappointed

PORTLAND, Ore., March 13, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Radius Recycling, Inc. I'm in the same boat -- I'm technical and not financial. I enjoy investing and stock picking and personal financial management, but digging into the details of a particular company is beyond my interest. So. All of our serious investing is in mutual funds. I consider our stock trading account to be our "gambling" account. We've not added cash to our "gambling" account for almost 20 years. But we get dividends, and we have a sell strategy that generates cash for our "hobby" of stock trading. Sometimes we lose. Sometimes we win. Overall we're on the "winners" side. Since the last time we've added cash to our "gambling" account, all of our new-cash investment has gone to: * 401k. We've hit the federal max contribution into my 401k for over 25 years now. * 529s. Not lately; our youngest graduated college last year. * taxable investment accounts investing in mutual funds. -- lately all index funds in stock. So for our "gambling" account, we generally buy what we know. Our biggest winner has been The Toro Company (TTC). Why did we buy it? Because I bought some of their yard equipment and I liked it. back around that time we bought TTC, we looked into buying Cosco -- we were parents of preschoolers at that point and it looked like a lot of the other parents of preschoolers were buying a lot of Cosco equipment. Car Seats, pack-and-plays, that sort of thing. But we couldn't figure out how. Our strategy in the trading account is to divest half upon double and reinvest the cash somewhere else. For example, once TTC reached our target sell point, we sold half our position in TTC. The remaining stock we consider as "free" because we got our money out of it. I maintain a spreadsheet which tracks accumulated dividends and purchase price, and I use those two factors, plus an estimate of taxes, to track the sell-half price... we actually enter a stop-limit 10% order when the stock price reaches 10% over the sell-half price. The hope is that the stock will just keep rising and never sell...and once accumulated dividends have paid for the stock we'd just take it off the table for the sell-half procedure. That's happened with exactly one company -- McDonalds. We've also had some big losers. One of our first companies we invested in was RiteAid. It went bankrupt and all stock was canceled last year. That's $520 down the drain. I got in a little trouble back when the "Bakken oil fields" were the next big thing -- we invested in two companies. One was a Master Limited Partnership that issued K-1 statements to their stockholders. Those came out late March, and I hated the things. I finally sold the stock at a huge loss (almost 6k loss) just because the K-1s meant I had to file late in tax season, and because I lost faith in the company rebounding. I have another Bakken play that is still around but if I sold today it would be another 6k-ish loss. We bought BP 6 weeks before the deepwater horizon disaster. I guess we should have invested some money in the studio that made the movie. So we put all our energy into this gambling account...but it's really for fun more than profit. We're Turtles (slow and steady wins the race) into mutual funds for all our serious investing.

Honestly, it really is that easy. If your boss is on your side, he might even suggest to write up a letter saying you got offers else where (your target pay) and you really love the company you're at and want to stay but need to seriously consider the offers -- but you want to give your company a chance to match it first. You shouldn't have to provide proof of an actual offer letter. HR has what's called TTC (total target cash -- base + bonus/commission/etc) for each position that varies by region/state. Goes, low, medium, high. If you're target pay is within that range, it's definitely doable and just needs to get signed off by upper management/HR. Good luck and God speed -- GET WHAT YOU DESERVE! ​ Oh, btw, if you're going to ask for a raise, make it meaningful, no little bs pump, ask for a lot and what you'd actually be happy with getting.
I really like KNSL long term, missed it before the run up tho and waiting for a good entry point. RBLX is a good pick too, I have some concerns they have reached market saturation but they keep proving me wrong. You seem tech heavy, what about diversifying in a company like CAT/NKE/TTC? Then if you want a growth company you could do ULTA/MNST, just some suggestions. I do think tech is overall pretty enticing right now after the sell-off from the past 18 months or so.

Yep that was me haha. It's worked out well, I'm winning. I made 3% on broadcom, 7% on DKS, 4% on AVAV. Playing MIRUM tomorrow (didn't beat EPS but up after hours......?), and TTC. Might play Lion Ulta and Lion EV for tomorrow. ​ Another person played half his portfolio into Asana which jumped 30% after hours. If that holds I'm definitely not winning but it showed me how much of this is gambling, I did not have faith in Asana yet it jumped significantly

You might be looking at it with ‘pregnancy’ goggles. Many people experience that they see more pregnant women while they are TTC/pregnant thought the statistics don’t support their experience. It is attributed to they give more attention to it so it is more memorable. You are probably lusting after a specific car and feel like you are seeing that everywhere.

Estee Lauder (EL) is fantastically well run. Being family-owned gives them a longer term perspective and it's been great for shareholders. Danaher (DHR) was run by the Rales brothers who did a great job. The offshoots (FTV, VNT, ENOV) have been less successful at applying the Danaher formula, though. Toro (TTC) is my [favorite](https://old.reddit.com/r/ValueInvesting/comments/v6fryn/a_qualitygrowth_industrial_at_value_price_toro_ttc/) mid-cap industrial, really good focus on ROIC and efficient operations.
You’ve only found Meta because you’re probably only focusing on large cap companies, which are tracked by tons of analysts and get the most attention. Meta’s PE is only so low because they are likely to reinvest a ton into the Metaverse, which will likely compress their PE in the future. There are a few opportunities in small/mid caps I like, $YETI, $FNKO, $TTC to name a few, but there’s a lot im interested in at 10-20% lower
I miss living in Hong Kong so damn much that I think about it ever day the last 2 and a half years, but absolutely do not miss the gas prices... But who cares anyway because the public transit is AMAZING!! Well I'm 50/50 on my idea, because competitors recent earnings didnt affect the price much, but they also seemed to not be overvalued anymore, while Deere is still floating way above. ​ I looked at articles from Gurufocus from last June. They reported all competitors as overvalued, with channels. They all seemed to have hit the top of the projected price for 2022 or the mean. DE is still way above. TTC - Long range performance has been great for over a decade with multiple splits and it's a dividend stock. It's usually on sale after earnings FWIW.
It’s crazy that the market is up overall today. I have 33 stocks on my watch list, and 32 are red (TTC being the lone holdout). Granted my watch list has a lot of growth, green energy and Mary Jane stocks, but about 10 are solid industrial and defense companies with good earnings. My overall conclusion is that I’m bad at this.

TTC. In 2019 they acquired Charles Machine Works, which makes underground construction equipment. Should see a nice tailwind from both infrastructure and future 5G development.
I'm a big fan of diversified industrials at the moment - ROP, AME, FTV, IEX, TTC, VNT (going from lower risk to higher risk, roughly). They have some cyclicality and will benefit from reopening, but also just rock-solid business models and balance sheets. Take a look yourself and see what catches the eye.
There's a few from cities in the states, maintenance, and there's one from Torontos TTC.
TORO (TTC) is a great buy right now.
GOOG, TTC, O, T, WMT, QCOM, TLRY, RUN, AONE are all stocks I play on holding for at least 3+ years at the moment, obviously will reassess periodically. I also hold Activision but I dont expect that to last me a year at this point. I'm currently aiming for about 9-12 months

FYI Proterra, New Flyer, BYD and Nova were just tested head to head by TTC (http://ttc.ca/About_the_TTC/Commission_reports_and_information/Commission_meetings/2021/April_14/Reports/6_Staff_Presentation_TTC_Green_Bus_Program_eBus_Head_to_Head.pdf) The Proterra was not the clear winner, and they have a scalability issue due to their design and manufacturing. Think of them like a high-end carbon fiber yacht... they are basically hand made carbon fiber buses. vs. everyone else that uses traditional chassis construction that is well suited to scaling. I have no financial positions here and can’t due to conflict of interest, just sharing some DD intel.
