I find I've stepped back from watching the portfolio. It feels... Weird. Almost like I'm back in that time period of 2022 where I mostly ignored the portfolio, let it do its thing, and then looked back in 2023 for the fun stuff. Anyway. It's been a mixed January to start off 2026, with the most brutal losses being this last week. Yet even then NVDA and GOOGL managed to have a positive week, and 4/6 of the below have had a positive year so far: * AMD -7.74% 5-Day, +10.54% YTD, -8.84% off ATH. (January) * NVDA +2.07% 5-Day, +2.5% YTD, -7.68% off ATH. (November) * GOOGL +3% 5-Day, +8% YTD, looks like it's just about at ATH. * MSFT -7.47% 5-Day, -11.03% YTD, -20.6% off ATH. (November) * RDDT -16.79% 5-Day, -21.58% YTD, -33.41% off ATH. (September) * RKLB -7.75% 5-Day, +14.78% YTD, -16,85% off ATH. (January) Definitely not too surprised to see MSFT take a hit like this, or to see NVDA or AMD cool off a bit. I miss the days where this sub was rabid about buying NVDA and calling it a day. It's clear that the 'easy money' time is over, and it's time to either double down or start re-examining my reasons for owning what I own. I'm starting to get more and more frustrated regarding OpenAI. Personally I prefer Gemini and think they'll end up winning the day, so it bugs me that so many of my holdings engage in such circular financing with what I believe to be the inferior LLM provider. I think Reddit still has growth ahead, but to my understanding their recent decline is because YouTube is now the number one cited platform for answers from AI models. Checking out my holdings in my home country (the the Canadian ones): * BN -3.2% 5-Day, +4.78% YTD, -8.59% off ATH. (January) * ATRL +1.48% 5-Day, +7.68% YTD, -9.83% off ATH. (September) * Rule 7 (still!!) -20.47% 5-Day, -29.17% YTD, -32.68% off ATH. (January.) Supposedly BAM had some great earnings just a couple days ago, so I'd love to see the mothership benefit from all the good news. I suspect they will have done well, but you can never quite tell until the reports are out with BN. They've had a surprisingly flat year, but I'm not complaining - ultimately a stable place to keep my cash. Overall: relatively happy. Everything is cooling off, but I'm still pretty certain money's going to continue pouring into equities.

Huh, look at that. After twenty years of flushing money down the toilet on solar panels they want to talk about nukes finally. I guess better late than never. IMO forget about the fuel. You need to be looking at the companies that design and build plants. Westinghouse APR1000 reactors like the ones just completed at Vogtle in Georgia and the Small Modular Reactor design currently being built in Ontario CA with GE Veronica/Hitachi units. Depending on footprint and capacity requirements these are modern reactors and each offers pros and cons around scalability, fueling, output, etc. Tickers: BAM CCJ GEV These thirsty AI data centers require lots of power and they don’t ramp up and ramp down on a load curve that could be met with solar or wind. Always on means base load generation is needed. Nukes are the main technology that’s “green” that can support that. Politicians will work across the aisle to get these types of projects federal approval and funding.

The announcement w/ORCL on 7/24 got it moving; they delivered off-grid power for an entire ORCL data center in 55 days…no delays for permits, grid interconnects, etc. Since then, a massive $5B partnership w/Brookfield Asset Mgmt (BAM) for 1st phase, 1GW deal w/American Electric Power (AEP) announced Nov ‘24, 100MW deal w/Equinix back in Feb ‘25, and more deals to follow, including Nat Gas producers rumored to be Williams. Also, built to accommodate move to 800 volt power for next-gen NVDA systems, removing the need for power converters.

This is a difficult question to answer because the best performing hedge funds these days tend to be multi-manager platforms that have (a) dozens of individual pods running disparate strategies (with counter-balancing by a central book to manage any excess risk) and (b) each pod usually takes anywhere from 20-40 long/short positions in a quarter. These guys run extremely low beta with tight risk management (you lose 8% of capital and you're fired at most of these platforms). Their strategy is to squeeze 2-4% alpha returns each year with 10-20x leverage (made possible by their low beta which protects downside). These guys (Citadel, BAM, Millennium, P72) have returned consistent 10% returns net-of-fees over the last decade and a half through significant market turbulence. And their fees are insanely high due to a pass-thru management fee model that increases the effective % AUM fee from standard 2% to closer 10%+ (investors directly pay for salaries/operating expenses). They basically have built alpha extraction machines that deliver high single digit to low double digit returns every year regardless of market volatility and they pay a high proportion of that alpha to employees. These guys obviously have no real concentration or even a real long-term investment thesis you can track.

I get the analogy, but it kinda falls apart because Tesla isn’t lifting weights here, they’re rewriting the rulebook on how autonomy even works. Waymo/Cruise-style demos are basically lifting a very specific 10-pound dumbbell: mapped route, limited conditions, curated ODD. Tesla’s trying to build the general-purpose strength to lift any weight in any gym. Different sport entirely. And yeah, in the real world most companies show incremental progress. Totally fair point. But Tesla’s approach isn’t incremental by design, they aren’t building the “highway only mode,” then the “city only mode,” then the “left turns after 3pm” mode. They’re training one brain to handle the whole thing. That’s why a single demo doesn’t tell you much about whether that brain is actually generalizing or just memorizing a loop. If Tesla trotted out a single autonomous ride tomorrow, people would (rightly) say: “Cool, now do it at night. Now in the rain. Now with construction. Now in Boston. Now during a solar eclipse.” A one-off demo doesn’t validate the thing they’re trying to build. None of this means Tesla is guaranteed to nail it, obviously. But pretending a flashy PR run is some magic indicator of technological maturity is rough logic. Waymo did their demos a decade ago and still can’t scale outside tightly groomed ODDs. Cruise aced demos then faceplanted in real deployment. If Tesla’s gamble pays off, it’ll look like “nothing nothing nothing… BAM, widespread rollout.” If it doesn’t, sure, they’ll have overreached. But holding them to the demo standard of systems built on a completely different architecture is just comparing apples to orbital rockets.

I've been promoting this for a while now. They won't stop until we make them stop. The problem is people still feel like the risk isn't worth it right now. But We are approaching the event horizon of a class war, where the wealth inequality will impact enough people to stir real social unrest. When we get to the point where the wealthy have taken so much, that ppl feel like they have nothing left (to the point they have nothing left to lose in fighting back) BAM that's when they introduce UBI. That will subdue the majority of the people while also paving the way to total governmental control and oppression. They are building bunkers just incase we don't go for it though 😉

My port was like 55% EOSE and 45% SGOV and I sold all my EOSE less than a month ago and its up over 100% from where I sold. Im so fucking salty lmao. This, effectively, would not change anything….except perhaps yes there may be some cost savings to corporations….but we are also talking about a very large and presumably expensive shift in a system that has been operating (and built around) the quarterly system for a very long time. Let’s leave the cost discussion to the side for a moment….this wouldn’t actually change anything. The best ran companies have long-term strategic views, those strategic bets get broken down into shorter-term goals, which then translate into quarterly targets (not necessarily revenue based although for sure there are quarterly revenue / margin targets), which translates down to individual teams in the company. Poorly ran companies select KPIs and metrics that are short-term focused and is important for individual bonuses in the moment…but lose track of the long-term goals and strategic bets. The best ran companies have KPIs and metrics for their managers that are directly tied to the longer-term bets…meaning your bonus this quarter is based on KPIs that support our long-term bets…not based on some short term revenue or margin needs. Moving to a 6 month reporting structure would do nothing but make the market more volatile. Rather than having a 3 month check-in to see if a company is on track to do what management said they are going to do…we now have 6 months for bad news to snowball and BAM! More volatility. Or…and I can’t stress this enough and is more likely where Trump is coming from….you get more fraud and abuse from leadership with less scrutiny by investors.
Brookfield always fascinates me. The fact they're able to make so much money off their garbage spinoffs has baffled me for ages now. BEP, BIP, the now defunct real estate arm and the newest con, BAM.
