No, not really. Looks like EVGO and CHPT pull in nearly identical revenue, at $109M and $101M respectively. But CHPT has only 4% YoY growth. Additionally, they have a EPS loss of -$1.75. EVGO is only at -$0.12.
CHPT does literally the same thing, but actually make money. Here in Minneapolis anyhow there's not a single EVGO charger but I know where a dozen chargepoint are.

With stocks there is risk. The bigger the fund, the more mitigated the risk. If I was focused on building wealth (I am), I’d probably put most of the money in VOO - like 75-90% and YOLO the rest on stocks that could grow exponentially like NVDA or whatever. Personally, all my ongoing investments are in VOO and similar. In 2020 I “found” an extra $6k that wasn’t doing much so I YOLOd it on TSLA. I’ve kept it there as it fluxes between $35k and $45k. I did pull $1000 out in 2021 and bought CHPT which is now nearly worthless. I’m HODLing it though for now.
Too many people thought that gas stations were done for but look at something like CHPT in recent years and look at CASY up 250% in the last 5 years. Gas stations are making money and have the money to finance EV charging stations if they thought the interest was there and there are people there. You have these EV charging stations that aren't manned and then how many of them are out of order, people taking the copper, etc? As someone else said, gas stations make a lot of their money on C-store aspects: EV charging has none of that. Does the unmanned charging station model even really work as a sustainable business? Sorry you haven't done well with these names. If you buy something and 3-6 months go by and the stock isn't working, I'd re-assess at that point. 3 years is too long.
I am doing some DD on EVGO. Feels like a nice pure play on EV utilization while minimizing exposure to things like supply chain disruptions, interest rate increases, and consumer weakness. They basically run a charging network and don't do anything else. As a contrast, CHPT is another stock in this space. But they sell equipment to local operators and then charge a service fee for access to their platform. While the recurring revenue is nice, they are not as exposed to higher utilization of their network (outside of the ones they operate). And if the supply chain gets wrecked, their equipment business will be impacted. Still doing some research on this one and am making some cautious buys. They are trading at all time lows, and from what I can tell, the long steady drop was due to slowing EV demand, some balance sheet concerns that have since been cleaned up, and more recently weak 2026 guidance (which if my thesis is correct, they should beat handily). It appears that their balance sheet is in pretty good shape and they just turned the corner on breakeven. Biggest issue I can see is that small caps like this can be such a crapshoot. They are too small for most larger funds, so they tend to get ignored and price discovery can be pretty rough. Going to keep digging into this one and build a small position though.
Just bought EV charging ticker CHPT. Around $5.00 a share NIO seems compelling. Bought 200 shares to write covered calls. Didn’t check the options chain like I should have, but will see when I get on my computer later this evening.
CHPT earnings play anyone?
CHPT ripping on earnings.
Chargepoint. Bought at 24ish sold at 1.86. I also owned a lot of Nvidia and was up 100% which I sold because it allowed me to offset my CHPT loses. Would have kept if I didn't need the comfort of being even.
Checkout CHPT D+ squeeze rating but if volume increases next few days then could be a play. Could use a fresh perspective on it

2026! Hey there! So I have the same question for you after 3 years. The stocks are at all time lows. CHPT at least has international exposure to offset US political Big Oil influence. Who knows what Monday night/Tuesday morning will do, but i was hoping you gleaned anything useful into this arena since your post. Feels like the governement provides funding to keep them afloat and expanding, but at the same time keep the outlook on their use and electric vehicle use negative to slowly bankrupt them so rich insiders can sweep in and buy them for pennies in a few years, only to capitalize on the revenue that will come after 2030. I'm also an idiot though, so there's that too. 😆
My undervalued/oversold picks for 2026. CHPT| ChargePoint, RIVN| Rivian, NFLX| Netflix, COUR| Coursera, NIO| Nio, SPOT| Spotify, FIG| Figma, * ChargePoint has the most upside if it can steer its financials in the right directions and land a big ev partnership * Rivians launching the R2 going from ~50K production to ~200K in 2026 * Netflix is beat up share price with blue chip numbers * Coursera will continue to grow its user base QoQ and is the leading education platform in the US - expect this to be one of the larger winners in this portfolio * Nio projects good growth numbers every quarter and every year - competition is tough but I like the growth and the strike price right now * Spotify has dipped recently I like the strike price and the company * Figma is neutral buy good product enterprise penetration and potential for ai upswing

Went public in 2003 at $3.1, is currently $4.52. There's absolutely exceptions, but imo the automobile industry - whether the US or wherever - is often not a great investment. In terms of parts/suppliers, MGA hasn't gone anywhere in a bit over a decade. Valeo in France is now down about 65% in the last 5 years. MBLY was talked up when it was spun out of INTC, down nearly 60% since. So many people in 2020/21 acted as if gas stations were going away because of EVs. CHPT -99%, EVGO -68% and BLNK -98% while gas station CASY is up 217% in the last 5 years.
"This time I’m focusing on growth stocks that have a shot at outperforming the S&P" Optimally, a list to do this would include at least some things that are the "next" things, not a list of largely the same things you see on many Reddit lists today. GOOG doing well and AMZN probably near a bounce, but the default to Mag 7 as the tech exposure for an increasing amount of lists on here feels like there wasn't an attempt to research beyond the most obvious household names. I wouldn't own RIVN even though I think it probably is one of one or two EV names out of all the EV garbage that went public in 2020/21 that lasts. With few exceptions the automobile industry is not a good investment. RIVN will probably never get back to the post-IPO high. People still seem to treat the EV theme as if its 2020/21 when the market is telling you that it's not. Just as charging co CHPT, down about 70% in the last year and -99% from the peak. "PAAS" How about SII on a pullback? Rather than one mining company, the largest nat resource financial company. If more people pile into their physical and stock ETFs (as for the latter, SETM certainly has done well) and AUM goes up, more fees. A broader play on silver/gold/resources than one mine. Good luck and hope you do well, but I would refine the list some.
Yes I absolutely lost money on CHPT I bought them post COVID during the ev craze and held. Think I finally sold it this year and put it into something that makes sense. It wasn't a lot though. But yea look at the chart for that thing it's ducking garbage. To recommend that stock today is crazy
CHPT I’m just getting my ChargePoint ev charger installed today and the whole process was much easier than I imagined it was going to be. State and federal rebates are going to mostly pay for it too. Why aren’t more people switching to ev??

CHPT up 6% LMAO, easiest puts of my life about to cash
Time to short the shit out of CHPT, maybe even a put or 2
> But that is where the major source of growth was supposed to happen for lithium. Yep. 2020/21: "Every EV company is the next Tesla, everyone is going to be driving an EV. Rivian goes public at $100B valuation before even selling a car. (Giant lithium miner ALB goes up 500%) 2022: (EV names crater, some going bankrupt for the second time) 2023/24/25: EVs continue to struggle and charging co CHPT is now 98% off the highs. ALB completely round trips back to where it was before the 2020 rise. ALB has bounced lately with all the disccussion of stratgetic stockpiling of minerals, but the rise of something like ALB in 2020/21 and the fact that that round-tripped shows how hot commodity names can often play out. 2020/21: "EVs are the future, lithium demand as far as the eye can see, this time is different." By 2025: It wasn't different.
I like BFRG and CHPT at current prices
PLUG, CHPT, BLNK.. all these same EV charging stocks? Im shocked to know PlUG is 4B company. Which one is interested based on recent news and price action?
The bear case is that CHPT continues to make headway and gain market share for search especially with buying goods. Google's revenue comes from being the first stop where people buy a good or service online. Right now, CGPT use cases are primarily social and not commercial.
AI is not bs but definitely AI stocks are in bubble. CRWV makes no profit but up 3x. This looks like EV charging station stocks like CHPT in 2021z
No. "Just when we see headlines hitting that Berkshire liquidated all its investment in BYD…is this an indication that EV is no longer a ‘viable investment’ sector?" Berkshire has owned BYD shares for 17 years (https://www.cnn.com/2025/09/22/investing/warren-buffet-berkshire-hathaway-exits-byd) In terms of a "viable sector", what EV name has done really well over the last 5 years aside from Tesla and BYD? The largest public charging pure play (CHPT) is down 98% off the covid high. A lot of the EV names that went public during 2020/21 via SPAC or otherwise have either been obliterated or are zeros already. So many people wanted the next Tesla and so the market dumped a bunch of EV companies on people, none of which turned out to be anything close to Tesla. RIVN probably gets through this period but I wouldn't expect it to get back to prior highs for an extremely long time if ever. Lucid got a boost from the Uber deal which turned out to be very temporary (announced July 17th where it was up big, it went about 1% further before losing about 48%.) With very few exceptions, the automobile industry is just not a good industry to invest in.
I've been bagholding 1,000 shares of CHPT for a looong time. Selling today for tax loss harvesting. My inclination is to buy TTD shares on the current dip, rather than buying back CHPT in 31+ days (to avoid a wash sale). My thought process is TTD is likely to have a larger % recovery from current prices, and it will recover sooner than CHPT. I think CHPT will limp along, at best, until the 2028 election, if a Democrat gets in office and pushes EV infrastructure spending. If Newsome runs and wins, I think EV infrastructure spending is all but guaranteed. But that's 3-years from now.
I'm testing this strategy right now with a lot of garbage. LAZR, BLINK, CHPT, PUBM, LAC, RXRX, SNAP, SPCE, PROP. I'll need some big wins tho cause it doesn't feel great holding a portfolio full of trash. I got some electricity plays in there tho and on board with the demand. You gotta stop saying 'free' tho hahaha-- nothing is free, especially in physics. Maybe free will lol
Finally time to LEAP on CHPT, good enough position to do something now
Imagine going all in CHPT thinking it was the maker of chat gpt
I had looked at PLUG, CHPT, and BLINK. I didn't dive deep, so I'm missing some context. Nevertheless, I didn't really understand was PLUG's business purpose was. They are making hydrogen stations? To sell to who? It doesn't make any sense to me. The stock might bounce, but because of meming. I have leaps for the other two
During that time I bought 5K in NIO, AVG cost $55.80 and another 5K in CHPT, AVG cost $771.20 :( Still holding with the delusion WSB would eventually pump these back to ATH 🤣
Bought LAZR, RDW, CHPT, and SPCE calls. Time to see what sticks
CHPT going to the moon after hours 🚀
There was an EV bubble just 4 years ago. Look at WKHS, RIVN, NIO, CHPT etc. These companies paid alot of youtubers 10-50k a video to promote the stocks and made alot of false claims and ALOT of people invested and lost money, myself included.
Looking for advice on what to do next. Long story short I made some poor investments on mostly EV stocks NIO HYLN CHPT BEEM etc. I’m currently down about $16k and the current value of the stocks are about $8k. I’ve been holding hoping for them to come back or at least bounce so I could mitigate some of my losses. I’m trying to figure out what to do next, should I blow it all up and sell then reinvest the $8k in something “safe” or continue to hold waiting for that run up? I’m struggling because I hate to sell and realize those losses but at the same time I hate waiting for a comeback that may never happen. Thanks in advance for any insight on how to move forward. And I already realize that I made a bunch of poor decision so please don’t kick me while I’m down! Thanks for your help
Sooooo how do we feel about Chargepoint (CHPT) post reverse split? It seems to be stablizing around $9
Any of these options trading under a few dollars is very very unlikely to produce reliable results. Especially stuff like CHPT. The spread or Greeks just never seems to have any relevance to the share price. Buying something otm for $30 strike on a $17 stock with, say, 135 dte is much more reliable results to hit 258% regularly.
Have you ever used a CHPT station? If so, you'll know why the stock doesn't get off the ground. Go gamble on.
Hey a fellow NIO losser! This and CHPT hurts the most in my portfolio.
May I suggest CHPT as your next opportunity? 18% short, growing network, FX tailwinds, close to 0.69 per share
Surprised you guys have t talked about CHPT yet! It’s definitely a contender.
What are we thinking about $CHPT boys?
What you Gards think about CHPT? 64 cents a share; basically the current infrastructure of EV charging nationwide. More EVs = more $$ for Chargepoint! I’m gonna buy at least some shares, maybe the 8/1 or 8/8 1$ call.
I missed that one:( What you Gards think about CHPT? 64 cents a share; basically the current infrastructure of EV charging nationwide. More EVs = more $$ for Chargepoint! I’m gonna buy at least some shares, maybe the 8/1 or 8/8 1$ call.

That would be fun, TLRY and CHPT could be good shitter candidates
What's the next undervalued pump play? OPEN ran almost 8x this month. I'm looking at chargepoint CHPT. What else?
After we ride OPEN to $82, we should do it to CHPT next
NNE, CTM, PDYN , NEHC, DVLT, CHPT, ABVE, RXRX are all going up! ( I hope)
Can someone do this with CHPT?
BNGO, PLUG & CHPT - my investment fiasco. Sold them at a loss because looking at them makes me sick & depressed. PLTR & AFFIRM helped me recover my losses. Kept buying bngo to bring down my cost to no avail. It’s like banging your head on the wall.
I recall once upon a time when I was a hopeful EV stock guy thinking that trash industry was going to take off. I wasn’t invested in MULN thank god lmao but I got the ol’ inside out sandpaper condom from WKHS, BLNK and CHPT. The comeback? $RGTI. I was originally buying around 1.90 when no one gave a shit about quantum. It plummeted and I bought a shit ton at $0.77. Sold a tremendous amount of them at $17
What do you think about CHPT? A lot of articles slam them saying EVs are suffering but that seems like a US centric view. BYD is being sold cheap in EU afaik and CHPT is making home chargers to expand into EU seems they have a shot if they can capture market share.
