Thoughts on CXW and GEO? Private prison stocks
ICE backlash creates new volatility risk for prison stocks, big tech, and hotel chains as public pressure intensifies
Do you like money, but hate people? Boy do I have a stock for you!
Do I have to spell it out for yall in WSB baby talk? Correctional facility property is cheap AF rn. Meaning GEO and CXW
Michael Burry is buying stocks again after selling all of his stocks last August except GEO. In Q3 he purchased more GEO making his portfolio now over 50% in prison stocks. His new buys are QRTEA, CXW AJRD, CHTR, and LILAK
Is Michael Burry a hypocrite?

Why are CXW and GEO up nearly 20% over the past 10 days?
Any idea why Michael Burry plunked down $15,000,000 (that’s 10% of his portfolio) into two REITs (GEO & CXW)?
$GEO GEO Group suspends dividend to pay down debt; will evaluate corporate structure
I’m short on the 2 largest private prison corporations because they are evil. (GEO & CXW)
Mentions
Notes for above: Most are about delta 25 ish, but APP and HUBS are bear put spreads. The "Detention" calls relate to ICE detention center companies, and are here only as Taco is currently expanding centers, and both CXW & GEO were knocked down due to the incidents in MN. Assuming these companies are involved in the recent expansion, they should pop. However, I'm otherwise not certain of their quality, so separated them.
TIL that GEO and CXW are the two largest private prison operators... calls on incarceration is wildddd, lol.
GEO / CXW this is your moment
GEO, CXW are being shielded by her from investigations and lawsuits. You can buy puts when you think her impeachment is near. Or you can seduce her when she needs a shoulder to cry on. And make her your wife.
The timing is bad but I’m buying CXW. Big prison sounds promising right now.
Holding lots of real asset stuff and ex-US but I also have US financials and the US private prison stocks I may buy more GEO and CXW if they fall enough
Yikes I bought GEO and CXW yesterday not great timing
**Key Metrics (Private Prison Operators)** | Metric | GEO | CXW | |:--|:--|:--| | Market Cap | $2.4B | $2.2B | | ROE | 6.5% | 7.4% | | ROA | 2.4% | 3.5% | | EV/EBITDA | 9.2x | 9.5x | **Income Statement (TTM)** | Metric | GEO | CXW | |:--|:--|:--| | Revenue | $2.45B | $2.09B | | Op Income | $280M | $240M | | Gross Margin | 80.6% | 23.7% | | Op Margin | 11.6% | 11.3% | **Cash Flow (TTM)** | Metric | GEO | CXW | |:--|:--|:--| | Operating CF | $240M | $230M | | Free Cash Flow | $130M | $210M | Both trade at similar valuations (~9x EV/EBITDA) with similar ROE (6-7%). GEO has higher gross margin (80.6%) but CXW generates more FCF ($210M vs $130M). The ICE contract risk is real. these are essentially government contractors with political risk. At 6-7% ROE, you're not getting paid much for the headline risk. If you want the sector, CXW's better FCF conversion provides more margin of safety.
There are about 15 million natiralized browns in the US. The prison capacity is 100k as of now. Only 2 major players in the market who get all the federal funding. GEO & CXW. If it happens it is a wealth transfer from naturalized browns to these companies with govt as intermediary. They have 6.6 trillion$ wealth. Hmmm.
The "Infinite Labor" Glitch: How the $10B Assistance Freeze is Bullish for Corporate Margins (and why we’re all cooked) Listen up, you absolute regards. I was messing around with some AI prompts today and stumbled into the ultimate macro bear case. We’ve been focused on interest rates, but the real play is the Modern Day Slavery pivot. The administration just froze $10B in assistance to blue states. Think about that from a "supply and demand" perspective. If you strip the safety net from the poors—and yes, that includes the trailer park and the suburbs, this isn't just a city thing—what happens? Labor Vulnerability goes to the moon: When you can’t pay for childcare or SNAP, you don't "look for a better job." You take any job. You become a sub-prime human asset. The 13th Amendment Loophole: They’re doubling down on "Law and Order." More arrests = more incarcerated labor. Incarcerated labor = $0.12/hour wages. It’s literally a legal slavery glitch that’s been in the US Constitution since the 1800s, and they’re finally scaling it for maximum ROI. The "Poor White" Rug Pull: If you think you’re safe because of your skin color, you’re trading on bad data. The AI is showing that the economic mechanics of debt bondage and "work or starve" don't care about your identity—only your bank account balance (which, for most of us here, is currently $0.00). The Trade: Short the working class, long private prisons (GEO/CXW), and long any mega-cap that needs desperate, un-unionized labor to keep their EPS from cratering. The government isn't trying to fix the economy; they're trying to lower the cost of the "human resource" input to zero. We are the overhead they’re trying to cut. TL;DR: Assistance is being rugged to force a desperate workforce into modern-day serfdom. It’s bullish for the 1%, bearish for literally everyone else. See you behind Wendy’s dumpster.

Private prison data for the portfolio: **Prison Stock Fundamentals:** | Ticker | Company | Op Margin | P/E | 52W Position | |:-------|:--------|:----------|:----|:-------------| | CXW | CoreCivic | **24%** | 31.0 | 17% below high | | GEO | GEO Group | 13% | 70.2 | **54% below high** | Interesting divergence: CXW has better margins (24% vs 13%) but GEO is more beaten down (54% below highs). **8-Quarter Margin Trend (GEO):** | Period | Op Margin | Trend | |:-------|:----------|:------| | Q3 2023 | 14% | — | | Q1 2024 | 13% | ↓ | | Q3 2024 | 14% | ↔ | | Q3 2025 | 6% | **↓ WARNING** | GEO's margins are compressing despite the "favorable" political environment. The 70x P/E is pricing in a turnaround that hasn't materialized. **CXW** is the better play: higher margins, cheaper valuation, and more stable trend. If you're going full unethical, CXW + tobacco (MO) gives you 24% and 55% operating margins respectively. That's a cash machine.
CXW and GEO. Can’t go wrong with some for-profit prisons. Nestle for some good ol’ child labor.
$CXW. It sickens me to own it.
CoreCivic $CXW and GEO Group $GEO if you are interested in some private prison exposure
CXW Correction Corp and GEO Geo Group. Private prison and detention centers
You're missing the real heavy hitters lmao Add some private prisons like CoreCivic (CXW) and GEO Group - literally profit off mass incarceration Maybe throw in some Nestlé too since they're basically cartoon villains when it comes to water rights This portfolio is gonna either moon or get you put on some kind of list 😂
Corecivic CXW and Geo Group GEO? Private prisons lol
$CXW and $GEO. Weed stocks. US Treasuries lol
I'm heavily invested in GEO, CXW (prison stocks) waiting for all the bears to lose everything and rob a bank
We already are. Taking positions in Geo, CXW and hopefully Axon.
CXW and GEO… are there any others? Waiting for entry point for Axon (Police stuff), but there’s unlikely in the near future
I bought CXW and it SURGED 😅
GEO,CXW,PLTR,don't think tariff matters to them
CXW is an interesting choice. Strong EPS growth, but I'd like to see them report solid revenue growth as well.
CXW (Core Civic) I personally like more than GEO. CXW sounds good and FUBO. NFA.
Think GEO has more unpriced risk based in. Go check out May 7th CXW muted earnings reaction and price moves around news on gov contracts. GEO looks like it has more risk priced in than CXW. They're both cheap, good luck!
Definitely calls on GEO and CXW. Those no bid contracts to ICE are going to super juice earnings.
CXW,GEO because of the big beautiful bill
GEO and CXW calls
Went all in on CXW before pre market started and it’s actually gone up. This is a concerning development. Vacating my house before it burns down.
That or CXW. Just need to find out who is getting the contract.
A burning tire and some fireworks in the street: Send in the National Guard Capitol Building on fire: Day of love Calls on GEO & CXW.
I bought calls on CoreCivic, ticker CXW. I think it'll go up bc of trumps executive order on April 28th
GEO and CXW some nasty immoral plays since trump got elected lol
I’m back almost even ($10K) because I made a sizable debt->equity play when it was low last month. For my $$ the only thing he can be counted on to do, ever, is act in his own self interest and magically squeak out of jams. That’s where you get the best odds on him. I made an educated guess about when he’d fold. Not that it’s all roses, far from it, but there are opportunities to be had. He folded when it got hot, just like now he’s capitulated to CN and all that talk of “DONT RETALIATE” (which they did and went unpunished) and screwing us for decades has magically vanished. If you can put morality aside there’s $$ to be made. Just look at GEO and CXW (private prison stocks) doubling on election night. Palantir plummets to $80 and rockets back up. There is low hanging fruit being driven by this administration - it’s just how much dirt can you tolerate under your nails.
I wouldn’t either, but there are publicly traded private prison stocks: CXW, GEO. Then there are companies that use prison labor or provide food, etc…
This, and everything else that's going to cripple the US population is why I bought $CXW last week.
GEO and CXW. Private prisons, detention camps, deportation services
Who would have thought it could be so easy to invest in the enslavement of other people? (CXW)
GEO, CXW. They’ve been doing quite well lately.
* **CoreCivic, Inc. (NYSE: CXW)** One of the two largest private prison and detention-center operators in the U.S., CoreCivic’s revenues swell as incarceration rates rise—whether for ICE detainees, federal inmates, or state prisoners. Its profitability is literally tied to locking people up, often in for-profit jails where cost-cutting can mean overcrowding, understaffing, and inhumane conditions * **The GEO Group, Inc. (NYSE: GEO)** GEO designs, builds, and runs secure facilities around the world—from U.S. prisons to immigrant “re-entry” centers. Like CoreCivic, it profits directly from higher incarceration and detention rates, and is often criticized for the quality of care (or lack thereof) in its facilities Altria Group, Lockheed Martin, Bayer AG Monsanto !
After my CXW gains I will load on VFC
Offshoring prisons extremely bearish for $CXW
Private prison stocks (GEO or CXW)
Yep, GEO and CXW didn't really crash at all.
I asked chatgpt for a few prison tickers and came up with GEO & CXW (nyse) saying *"Both are real estate investment trusts (REITs) that operate private prisons, detention centers, and reentry facilities. They also provide electronic monitoring and rehabilitation services.* *These companies profit primarily from government contracts (federal, state, and local) to house inmates or detainees, often related to immigration enforcement and criminal justice policies.* ***Side note****: In 2021, the Biden administration issued an executive order to phase out the use of private prisons by the federal Bureau of Prisons, which has impacted these companies. But contracts with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and state-level deals still remain.* *Let me know if you want stock performance, controversies, or a deeper dive into how they make money.* **me - didn't mango undo Biden's EO?** *"Yes, President Donald Trump reversed President Joe Biden's executive order that had directed the Department of Justice to phase out its contracts with privately operated criminal detention facilities. On January 20, 2025, President Trump issued an executive order titled "Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions," which revoked several of Biden's directives, including Executive Order 14006."*
# Top Public Companies Profiting from Prisons (U.S. Exchanges Only) 1. **The GEO Group, Inc.** *(NYSE: GEO)* * Private prison ownership and operations * Services include incarceration, reentry, and electronic monitoring 2. **CoreCivic, Inc.** *(NYSE: CXW)* * Owns and manages private prisons, jails, and detention centers * Also leases correctional facilities to government agencies 3. **Centene Corporation** *(NYSE: CNC)* * Provides healthcare services, including in correctional facilities * Previously owned major prison healthcare contractor 4. **Palantir Technologies Inc.** *(NYSE: PLTR)* * Offers big data and analytics used by law enforcement and ICE * Supports surveillance and detention data management 5. **Axon Enterprise, Inc.** *(NASDAQ: AXON)* * Supplies Tasers, body cameras, and software to police and prison systems * Profits from law enforcement and correctional tech integration
Take a look blow mind project on the way https://youtu.be/yUZ2CXW0cKs?si=xI4hthOWJqg2AXyL
Assuming your assumption that CXW will return to post-election prices sometime this year is correct, the best way to profit from this would be to select a call with a strike price that maximizes your profit % and has an expiration sometime towards the end of the year. This will most likely end up being a call option with a strike that is a dollar or two lower than your predicted price and expiration in early 2026 (to ensure the option hasn't expired before the price has moved to your target). You'll have to assess if your predicted % returns from buying a call are better than other opportunities you might have in the market. Again, this answer is correct only if you're correct that CXW will return to post-election prices before the end of the year. Personally, I doubt predictions as specific as this can be made with any certainty.
Looking for guidance on a possible bullish $CXW strategy. Im new to options but I have a decent amount of profit from recent trades that I am willing to play with. Not approved for debit spreads on Robinhood so I’m thinking call options that expire on or after Sep. 19, just not sure what the best play is. My simple (perhaps too simple) idea is that CXW is undervalued and will return to at least post-election prices or higher sometime this year.
AISP - AI driven mass surveillance RCAT - Military drones CXW - Prisons DOMH - Don Jr. and Eric just appointed to the board, so just run of the mill corruption.
C HIMS, C HOOD, the daily QQQ plays, P VG, META for nightly cash sweep, long CLOV. Eyes on RKLB & (TH, GEO, CXW).
Anyone playing the $CXW earnings tomorrow? Kind of a hard call considering $GEO hasn't done great, but with Mango being so pro-private prison, I can't really see major cons on this one. Other than demand outpacing supply, and alternatives coming out i.e. Guantanamo and salvador
I would hope he would be selective. Some things in the public service section of the economy would be way shittier being regulated by the free market. (Looking at you GEO and CXW) As far as handouts to billionaires, I'm still less worried about the richest guy in the world moving the money around than the people taking amounts around $1m from lobbyists for most of America's existence prior to present time. The wealth disparity is getting to the point where USD itself is starting to look like the likelihood of it being abandoned is much higher presently than it has been for quite some time. Whatever money wouldn't get spent before that would suddenly be worthless if USD loses confidence if inflation gets out of hand. The pendulum needs to swing back if you're Elon Musk, whether your intentions are selfish or altruistic. Whether you're rich and captain of the boat or just a poor bastard rowing, if the ship goes down everyone dies. Doesn't matter who carries the title and when you have the most to lose, you can see what their motivation will be.
Anyone playing $CXW? I feel like private prisons are easy money during this admin. Not quite sure if I should just buy 2000-3000 shares and play earnings or go for the cheap options. Just not sure how big a swing these things do.
I bought up hundreds of shares of private prison stocks GEO and CXW the day after the election and since I made about 70% gains in both. Both stocks have been doing horribly lately since very recently Trump has suggested shipping US citizens who are in prison for violent crimes to other countries. I still think these private prisons could operate and even build more.
El Salvador taking away private prison jobs!!! Puts on CXW too Ez 🫡
Even CXW is dropping 1 or 2% this week. Volatility! Jacked to the tits
The hell is wrong w you OP??? Its a company fueling...fuking fueling other industries. If your ass wants a bet buy JOBY and CXW Quit spouting garbage about my nvda
CXW and GEO but you like 1.5 month late, it already went x2
my guess is the following will be a boon to your portfolio during the next 4 years, assuming end of world event doesnt happen: Private Prisons - CXW, GEO Crypto - Whichever Musk is holding the most of Energy - UUUU Consumer Staples - XLP or any core holdings
CXW: I don't see deporting immigrants causing enough profits to budge this stock. I wouldn't touch it. RTX: Trump de-esclating the war? Doubtful. He'll just remove our involvement of it and close our eyes. However, I believe they already announced they intend on decreasing the military budget as part of the budget cuts, so this may still be the play. SWBI: Again, I don't see this moving for the reasons you stated. PFE: I do see this dipping for the reasons you stated. The very least, I see the administration adding more regulation which will increase costs for Pfizer. The risk is it may already be priced in at this point. Buy the rumor, sell the news.. so you run the risk of this stock actually running up if the administration fails to even add additional regulation.
CXW up over 1.3% after hours... should continue...
CXW - Corecivic - Private prisons to the moon!
Down money on Riot, CXW, Geo today -260$
Just buy GEO and CXW
"pure evil" Have you heard of CXW and GEO?
GEO and CXW, already up big. Those immigrants probably arent going home i fear
# **TLDR** --- **Ticker:** GEO, CXW **Direction:** Up **Prognosis:** Potential buy, but OP is seeking more DD before making a decision. **Further Notes:** * GEO Group and CoreCivic have recently seen large gains (70%+) likely due to new immigration policies. * OP is seeking more in-depth analysis before deciding to invest. * OP's friend's husband had a positive experience with GEO facilities. * OP is new to investing and seeking advice.
Hmm after yours and another comment I’m thinking I’ll sell my CXW share. I do however wanna keep what I have in AXON and see if it’ll keep going up at all. I also go ahead and avoid buying into the sector any further for the time being. Thank you!
CXW $18 Put 11/15? Just trying to learn I’m just using this as an example to try and figure out what I’m not understanding. I’ve done options trading before, made some money, lost more, tried to learn as much as I can. So in this example, CXW shot up recently but seems artificially related to the election. So my thought was this thing has been sitting around $12-$15 for a year and is now at $23, so a target of $18 by 11/15 seems to make sense to me even though it’s soon. So my interpretation of this example purchase would be, according to what the app says, I spend $15 with a max loss of $15 and a max profit of $1785. Or if I bought the one expiring on 12/20 it would be a max loss of $50 with the same profit potential but the later expiry date means more theta decay right? Am I understanding this correctly? Are there other factors I need to take into consideration? This is just an example of my mindset with options which worked sometimes but mostly didn’t and I’d like to be more consistently profitably (obviously). Thanks for the help, just trying to learn!
There are only 2 private prison stocks. $GEO and $CXW
I'd short CXW because this bounce ain't gonna last. But get within a few weeks because longer term these will run after he's in office and goes through with mass deportations.
You missed the private prison plays. CXW and GEO have got to be on this list
They had very large US Marshall accounts. Basically Geo/CXW are landlords. They already built the prisons. And many contracts are 10+ years. So it's a bidding war thing
CXW. already missed the run.
CXW did. By 55% in two days.
Looks like both GEO and CXW are components of the S&P 600 (small-cap index) and Russell 2000. Biggest ETF holder in both cases is IJR.
Companies that had contracts with ICE to help deport millions for USA, and this is not investment advice. 1. GEO Group (NYSE: GEO) - GEO Group also operates private prisons and detention centers under contracts with ICE and other government agencies. 3. Unisys (NYSE: UIS) - Unisys supported DHS with case processing systems and technology for tracking and processing deportations. 8. Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) - Lockheed Martin supported DHS with biometric and data management systems, aiding in the identification and tracking of immigrants.
Private prisons atre up, GEO by 42%, CXW by nearly 30%.
In all seriousness it’s extremely sad that 1.) you can invest in private prison stocks 2.) Both private prison stocks $GEO and $CXW gapped up after the announcement
Nice call. GEO + CXW for multi-billion government contracts and LET'S GO!
