Hello! I actually ended up getting out of the stock at a certain point for a small loss, and I haven’t paid attention to it much since then. I think with these smaller cap, biotech stocks, there will always going to be a moments where the share price will squeeze up for a few days, just like CABA did back in Nov. it could be off of any random catalyst. However, I typically don’t invest long-term due to volatility. CABA’s therapy is based off a serendipitous side effect, like how pulmonary hypertension drugs found an alternative use to treat ED. If you’re evaluating the company for possible long-term returns, I would ask what the market is for the disease diseases that it treats. CABA treats autoimmune disease by resetting the patient’s over-active or self-reactive immune system. How big of a market would this address? Overall, I would probably invest elsewhere long term. In regards to recouping your losses, I think there’s probably a chance that there will be random days where the stock will pop up, and hopefully you can recoup some of your losses. I hope that helps!

I've gotten to the point where I'm debt free and thinking of my next career move... either radiology or RN. I don't want to work on any of the floors and some ED staff mentality is a turn off/toxic, but for some reason hospice stood out to me since for the most part it seems staff have a different vibe and it's mostly comfort measures although there are exceptions. I'm comfortable around death (unless it's a close loved one). Can I ask why you chose a hospice vs a medical setting or did you eventually burn out working everywhere else before landing there?

Most education IS run at the state level. Federal is just a larger overseeing eye, starting point for research, and, for lack of a better term, huge piggy bank. The whole reason the Dept Of Ed is even a thing is due to many states telling the federal govt to F off and not being held accountable. COULD the US treasury hand out aid funds? Yes. But the whole reason there is a office of Federal Student Aid is because in the big scheme of things aid is a VERY small portion of the federal budget for a small portion of Americans. ED also collects data (well, collected) from schools (see https://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/ as an example of gathered data), makes recommendations nationally on education related issues, AND keeps everyone accountable for discrimination and ensures equal access. Any of the above is violated they would threaten to kick a school out of the TITLE IV programs and schools WANT/NEED to be in that (many smaller schools will, frankly, go under imo if federal funds get yanked). While most would comply with many of the rules/guidelines if ED went away some states or cities would absolutely not. We would have 50+ versions of ED at a state level. ED has (had) all of 4200 employees total and with them canning 1/2 they are saving 0.0003% of the federal budget (something like 3¢ on $1k). Its important very specific technical work that not a lot of people want to do. Since 1997 ED sends schools digital reports (used to be paper!) on anyone (current students, but almost always the graduated students) who are past due. WE get up to three files: * DELQCMOP DELINQ BORROWER REPORT COMMA DELIMITED * DELQFFOP DELINQ BORROWER REPORT FIXED LENGTH * DELQFMOP DELINQ BORROWER REPORT FORMATTED They let us know so we can reach out and try and get them paying again. Why? When borrowers full on default they get added to something called a schools Cohort Default rate. https://fsapartners.ed.gov/knowledge-center/topics/default-management/official-cohort-default-rates-schools If the rate is bad enough it has implication for a school - they can delay posting of loans or even get them kicked out of TITLE IV programs (loans and PELL). So when people say "schools dont care they have the money" we do because it can REALLY screw up things with our ability to stay in TITLE IV programs. Now the reason this is so interesting is because during ALL of coivd/last few years practically EVERYONE has been in forbearance/not require to pay so these rates have dropped to 0.00%. Well now we're back on - people in repayment for a long time AND all the new grads. WE're about to find out who wants/can pay and who does not. SCHOOLS THAT POPPED OUT GRADS THAT CANNOT GET JOBS ARE GONNA BE IN FOR A WAKE UP CALL.

A NH / SNF can and will find a way to legitimately get a difficult resident out. Now you are right that a NH cannot kick a resident out. NH/SNFs have to - under Medicare regulations - provide for a “continuum of care”. Which means the NH finds a legit reason to call EMS to have the resident taken to the ER/ED; they get held for observation or get admitted; once ready to be discharged, the NH will refuse them back. Elder now becomes the problem for the discharge planner of the hospital and they will do whatever to get family to come & pick up grandma. Often it’s a TIA transient ischemic attack that is used for the rationale to call EMS. TIAs are real subjective in how they “present” so to be on the safe side, a resident will be whisked off to the ER & usually hospitalized couple of days. The NH will use the excuse that the resident did not put in for a “bed-hold” or exceeded the bed hold, so the room is no longer available. Too bad, so sad. Or that they cannot meet the level of care for the former resident, so cannot have them return. NH/SNFs can and will find a legit way to 86 a problematic resident.
