I swear I answered this from my phone, did you see a reply? Well, I'll answer again; hopefully I'll say the same thing! Something is ALWAYS going up, even in a bear market; it's our job to find it. If nothing else, it'll be one of the 40 or so non-leveraged *inverse* ETFs out there. But I plan to just keep doing what I do: Watch my positions. When they roll over (I hope you know what I mean by that), find something else that's going up. That means screening all non-leveraged ETFs with options. Sort by 3-month performance. **Look at charts.** <-- this is so key; your eyes know a 'good' chart that's going up. Pick one(s) that's going up. Barchart makes all that so easy for me, but I do pay $20/month for Premium or whatever they call it. After sorting all optionable ETFs by 3-month performance, it's so quick to look through their charts on a 6-month view using their "Flipcharts" feature. Other sites may have something similar. I just commented to u/LabDaddy59 a couple days ago that the stock tickers he looks for (quantum computing, small reactors, plus whatever else), doing that, a person might go through a whole bear market and not even know there was one going on if they didn't pay attention to the news or track the indexes. A 2022-type market I'm sure some ETFs will always be going up. 2008-2009, I'm not so sure, unless you tap into the inverses. On the major indices you've got SH, MYY, SBB, PSQ, DOG, RWM, maybe some others. I didn't check for options on those. And if I just absolutely couldn't find an ETF that was going up "smoothly" (always my overriding criterion), then yes, I guess I'd go to cash for 3/5ths of the portfolio. Because I plan to always keep 20% in TLT (20y Treasuries), and 20% in GLD (unless maybe it goes into a long-term decline and selling CCs doesn't net a positive return). Does any of that make sense based on your experience?

r/stocksSee Comment

With that I mean that they enable all necessary features in full capacity: Node autoscaling with a reasonable scaletime (my deployment failed due to ionos taking 10 minutes to scale up the nodepool), definitely Cert Manager compatibility (when using Ionos the k8s api server lies within the Ionos cloud, and they configured it in a way where CertManager self check if it presents a Certificate challenge faila, so it never works), and then stuff like ReadWriteMany PVCs (without RWM you cannot do rolling updates, as volumes can only be mounted once. That means you will have downtime every traefik update. That’s just nuts

AFAIK, this sub doesn't care about the underlying; if it's an option on <whatever>, it's on-topic. BITI may or may not involve futures internally (I have no idea) but, from the outside, it's just an inverse ETF, like SH, PSQ, RWM, or whatever.

Generally option traders discus not 'X ' percent out of the money, but delta as an indicator of how far out of the money, 0.50 being at the money, generally. That and disclosingvthe time span of expiration also give perspective to your reader. ProShares Short Russell2000 (RWM) may not move is a useful way, and may offset gains from the short puts. You can limit your losses by selling a defined risk credit spread. Reduce your risk alternatively by sizing you options contracts position s its risk aligns with what you feel comfortable with.

A question about selling a PUT Apr 21 @ $26 strike for RWM. I was assigned on the 17th of April, but when I looked at the price for RWM, the highest it reached was for $24.86. So I am agreeing to buy 100 shares of RWM for $26 when it is worth only $24.86. Now, if I sell a covered call for May with a $25 strike, I get the premium ($30) but I could still be about $70 in the hole if that one gets assigned. Am I thinking this one right?

If it is leveraged 3x ETF it will bleed over the months so not very ideal. If you want to hold for months, your best bet will be standard inverse ETFs without leverage. These are SH(Sp500), PSQ(nasdaq), DOG(Dow), RWM (Russell2000) The second option will be using 2x inverse leverage, they still bleed but not as much as 3x ones. These are SDS(sp500), QID(nasdaq), DXD(Dow), TWM(Russell2000).

There's no reason for cash. If you are so sure an index isn't going to go up for the short term, just buy a 1X inverse ETF like SH, PSQ or RWM (inverse SPY, QQQ and Russell2000). Or "gamble" with a 2x or 3x version. There is just no logical reason to keep cash or bonds if you are convinced the market is going down.

r/investingSee Comment

Unless we are talking about your last lunch money, there are two things to "do" (as oppossed to just holding what you have already done) now with the stock market: 1) buy longterm monster stocks at a discount and wait, 2) buy inverse ETFs. The 1x inverse Russell 2000 etf RWM is up 14% for the past month; its 3x leveraged partner TZA is up 42% for the month. If you truly believe a dramatic dip is coming, take advantage of it, don't fear it.

T- is not the strongest and will probably be traded a couple more times in this downward market. Now would be a good time to go into inverse ETF's to hedge your losses as they're all at their value price because of the market rebound. I dumped all my bullish stocks in April and went all-in on DOG, PSQ, RWM, and SH and have been in the green for the first time since I started investing last year. With the Fed starting to run off the balance sheet next week and signaling that they're going to be more hawkish, we could be in another bear market next month.

The S&P performance goes up and down but I see spikes when pce is down and dome dips when pce goes up. Also fed funds rate and 10 year yield seem to follow each other, it’s a multi decade down trend. I mean German bund was at negative rates. Is it overall deflation because of improving technology? I mean life is so much more efficient now than 40 years ago or even 5 years ago. Pce spiked up for the first time in a long time because of maybe too much stimulus in such a short time period so I think S&p performance will go down, Fed funds snd 10 year yields will go up. So basically short the stock market and bond market in the medium term. RWM TBF SH The shiller PE ratio is very high by the way, higher than 1929 but not as high as 2000.

over the long-run it'd be a wash or break-even, wouldn't it? a small position, 5-10%, in a tail-risk strategy like TAIL or RWM and the remainder in regular funds/ETFs would take the sting out of a major drop but wouldn't be a long-term drag on performance. look up the long-term history of RWM. but a better option is just to diversify with international, small cap and perhaps value stocks. VOO is dominated by US large and it skews towards growth stocks. but small, value and international will tend to move in cycles and can outperform large cap growth for years at a stretch.

r/StockMarketSee Comment

Good write up here, thanks for taking the time to do this research. I think one of the most important points you touched on was over leveraging. Hedge funds are recieving up to 100x leverage for equities and crypto. I think even a minor sell off in the indices/bitcoin could trigger some serious margin calls, and become a catalyst for retail/other funds to sell off. I read recently that retail has borrowed up to 1 trillion dollars this year to put into the stock market, which is maybe why Wells Fargo shut personal lines of credit. It is my understanding that personal lines of credit are often used to purchase equities in the market, and are unsecured. I would usually fact check myself but I have been reading so much lately I think I am going cross eyed. I've got my puts on the SPY, my leaps in HOG, RWM, SPXS, HDGE, my Gamestop shares, off grid farm w/ solar and water catchment, and tinfoil hat. All hedges against the current market. "I may be early, but I'm not wrong" Cheers!

r/StockMarketSee Comment

I did some research on what happened during the last crash and the best performing stocks were the RWM and HOG, which are 3x Inverse ETFs. RWM is the inverse of the Russel and HOG is the inverse of the Dow. Basically Russell goes down, RWM go up. I bought Jan 2022 calls for dirt cheap (when markets are at all time high's inverse Bear Markets are at all time lows) You can look at the chart I am memory spitballing here but currents shares of RWM are about 20 bucks and during the 2008 collapse peak was 504 dollars, recent 2020 flash crash they were 60. Buying call options = leveraged exposure to these funds which = stupid money if the market tanks. Easy hedge for long term positions. Also, I am loading up on Gamestop because the highest shorted stocks could launch into the stratosphere when/if big funds get margin called. There is mind boggling DD on r/Superstonk about reverse repo, elliot waves, and math showing that shorts have not covered, that is written by very smart people and is great reading. Not financial advise, just my own game plan. I also am researching for my own DD about the OTC markets. It is my hypothesis they will poop the bed first as they are highly speculative and risky investments. If you do go long I would recommend only buying value investments that have green balance sheets, now is probably not the time for risk.
