Best advice I can give you is to be VERY aware of the content and from whom you consume content. Many Bots and People alike reflect narrow, short term views that primarily support their specific objective. Follow people who can consume data from both sides, conduct additional research, form logical opinions... There is a HUGE difference between Trading (extremely short term) and Investing (long term). When you Invest, you have to conduct unbiased research into all aspects of the Companies you uncover. Once found, you have to have conviction in your analysis. When you do, buy and hold them forever. Some that I previously came across 15+ years ago (not recommending in 2026) and began INVESTING in were JPM, Apple, Nextel (now TMUS). VTI, VT or VOO should be 1 fund in any long term investor portfolios (age would dictate weighting bias). These had their ups/downs however their returns have met/exceeded S&P500 return. 3 different sectors but the companies all have solid businesses. We need a new Warren Buffett for this current environment where Private Equity and Tech lead Imaginary (at super inflated levels) valuations and an SEC that let's such companies enter people's IRAs ,401ks... People need to also be similarly aware of WH Administration related changes as they tend to drive short term Market moves (more for Trading). I don't post much at all but saw your opening and thought I would send something.

At the time, Goldman Sachs was calling for increased breadth at a slower pace. What I'm trying to understand is what the "x%" axis is indicating. My best reading right now is that it is the percentage difference between the current valuation and the 52-week high. So a data point at +5% means the index is currently 5% higher than its 52-week high. But what is being measured is not SPX or the median stock in SPX, but instead the difference between these two tickers. So we're not really talking about a percent difference, but a percentage point difference. How do we subtract a stock from an index? Are we talking about market capitalization? Or are we taking the percentage difference between the 52-week highs and current prices of each respective ticker and finding the difference between those two values? So if SPX is at its 52-week high (=0%) and the median stock is currently -5% from its 52-week high, should the chart show +5%? (0% - -5%) Intuitively, it makes more sense the other way, so that we subtract the positive difference (0% - 5% = -5%). In that case it's unclear how the chart can be positive (+5% is the same as -5% *below* 52WH?). Another question I have is whether a new median stock is chosen for each data point. It seems like this would create some noise in the data as a static market might show a dramatic change if a high-growth stock (e.g.+5% from 52 week high) moves into the median position and replaces a blue-chip stock (e.g. -0.5% from 52 week high).
