As one such person I'll just say there's a generous amount of schadenfreude. I've had to put up with people who won't shut up about crypto, NFTs and other buzzwords and refuse to listen to anything against it, labelling it as "FUD" and being told "HFSP" "NGMI" etc... The sheer cult-like attitude of some people over something that's just supposed to be an alternative currency honestly scares me since I see them being all milked dry while taking out loans to throw it all away all over again. So to see it all burn down like it obviously will given how it's openly manipulated by whales? It just feels nice to see reality hit them. Heck, maybe they'll even learn something, or they'll just rush to the next get-rich-quick scheme. And while it's sad that a lot of people will lose money when it all crashes, truth be told, that money was gone the moment they bought in. And since it's gone already, the best that can happen is for the whole scheme to collapse to spare further victims from this rigged casino.

>There is no leader. you mean to tell me, you think if Satoshi came back, verified it was him and said some shit about needed change that the community would ignore his wishes? I've got a bridge to sell you. BTC maximalism is the cult of Satoshi pure and simple. >There is no changing the finite supply or the economic properties. Code is law until it isnt. If the price doesnt keep doubling to offset the halvenings to pay miners the needed rewards to keep their ASIC's online. They will then start to turn off their ASIC's and the network security plummets which then threatens the decentralization metrics as well as security metrics of the entire network. >Its real decentralized money Currency* BTC does not poses the properties to be called money. The two terms are often incorrectly interchanged. Durable Divisible Fungible Unit of account Medium of exchange Portable Store of value over long period of time Money requires all of these, Currency requires all but the last. >Here's to all the new Bitcoin maxis that will be born during this crypto winter. May you be toxic af encouraging toxic maxi behavior is not the way forward. the "HFSP" mentality is what turns people off the cult of Satoshi already as it is.

I’m as much a bitcoiner as anyone here, but he’s not wrong. There are still unresolved issues with bitcoin and it’s far from certain that it will replace gold (or become the go-to asset for everyone around the world) I hate to see bitcoiners constantly proclaiming bitcoin is going to eat the world and all these dinosaurs are gonna bend their knees and capitulate. We’d all love to see that but it’s not a done deal. Far from it. People get complacent as if it’s all gonna be inevitable. Bitcoin can still be vulnerable to a lot of attacks. Dalio is one of those more open minded billionaires and he seems always ready to change his mind when presented with new information. So I have to agree with him that bitcoin still faces plenty of challenges, we are just at the beginning of the “then they fight us” stage. Talking hyperbitcoinisation and bitcoin standard as if we have a crystal ball into the future is just bad thinking. We need to go out and convince people why bitcoin is good, esp in the face of ESG attack these days. After all, it’s just a network and if not enough people using this network it’s useless. When ppl are skeptical about bitcoin and all we do is give them a middle finger yelling HFSP only make them all the more entrenched in the opposite camp. We want to every help we can get rather than a bunch of ppl who are so at odds with us they take every little chance to undermine bitcoins.

As much as I disagree with the EU and their thoughts on Bitcoin, the responses here are pretty low quality. Just a bunch of "Fuck'em", "They can't do anything", "They don't know anything", "HFSP". Things people say when they don't know the actual rebuttals to the arguments, they just know they should be against it. In other words - unhelpful. And worse, *complacent*. Everyone here thinks there is 0 threat, so they *don't have to* come up with articulate answers. Bitcoin will "just win". We backed the unstoppable force, so we can afford to be lazy asses with argumentation. But if Bitcoin is banned in EU, EU is going to lose things like hardware wallets with Bitcoin soft/firmware on them, obviously miners, but then these other bigger **possibilities** (*not destinies*) fall out of this naturally 1. It strengthens the anti-Bitcoin positions of politicians in *other countries/regions*, like the US, and some fence-sitters will take the anti side now. AU/NZ/GB obviously too. 2. Nodes in the EU will likely be banned as well (most easily sniffed out anyway, they're public and unencrypted comms). After all, they are technically supporting an illegal activity. If because of #1 it's illegal in some States or countries, ditto there. 3. Cash ramps are regulated heavily, and will just have to shut down for citizens in those countries, meaning you can't easily convert to/from cash. You are limited to P2P, and likely it will be small amounts. For safety, but also because the only people left using Bitcoin are in developing nations, and don't have a spare $50,000 to just hand over, or black market in nations that banned Bitcoin, which are almost all mostly *cashless* already. Wiring money is clearly a non-starter unless you're already committed to being a structured black market entity. 4. You end up holding a resource that won't be spendable in a wide adoption future, and you can't get rid of it without doing something illegal. You won't dare travel to another country for an in-person trade, because the counterparty can just take your HW wallet and you can't complain to the authorities (the old sex worker conundrum). 5. The government may do a pennies on the dollar cash-for-guns type deal where you send your BTC to them for small recompense. Or they may not, because fuck you. Governments be governmenting. What survives can be called "Bitcoin", but 90% of the people in this thread would have sold before #3, when the price dipped into the 20's **for a reason**, rather than FUD. So instead of an echo chamber chorus of "Screw them!", go out and convince people why the energy FUD is just that, **starting with this reddit**. Lots of new users who just see this trainwreck and think "Bitcoiners == apes". Vote for the right people, campaign for the right people, and prevent those possibilities from even seeing the light of day.

I'd argue that in the short term, they're both correlated with each other and sometimes there's more volume coming into ETH which affects BTC and vice versa but there is absolutely no doubt that the merge is a significant event that is partially affecting the market. Denying that is plain ignorance on how markets work. If you think that ETH consistently only gets its value from BTC then you are a fool. I would argue that much of the crypto matket's buoyance is supported by all the advances Ethereum has brought, including DeFi and NFTS. It's attracted a tonne more new money over the last 5 years. Proof of Stake is going to attract a whe lot of good press too due to the green factor and stakers will be getting ~15% APR.. which will no doubt get reduced as more stakers come online which ofc will further bolster the price. But people like yourself will no dpu t say that it's to do with the halvening lol. This sub is hilariously ignorant. HFSP

This is such a dumb post. $APE easily has potential to be a top-20 market cap coin as stemming from one of the strongest brands in all of crypto in BAYC. If you’ve spent any time in technical analysis you’d notice that before APE dumped it was coiled like a Mfer. Typically when this happens you’ll see a rounded bottom pattern before it gets back to the same spot and grinds higher. But what do you know? For most people, those risks are much smaller than diving into crypto simply because wrapping your head around best security processes to hold crypto securely can be a insurmountable chore. People like my dad who can barely use email or attach a file to an email are simply not interested in crypto. It’s all Greek to them and they don’t want to learn anything new. Even my friends, who are in their late 30s, are so turned off from crypto, some because of the perception of how difficult it is to understand and others are turned off because of the toxic bro culture and the extremely vocal minority who want to dismantle government/anti-vax/HFSP attitudes. I keep ringing the bells to my friends about crypto, some are slowly coming around but the ones with families and full time jobs simply don’t have the energy to explore the space nor the patience to understand it. Some of them think that crypto is just bitcoin and that’s it. They are also super scared of getting hacked and compromised. Hell, I’m even worried about getting my wallet compromised because of some stupid security flaw I overlooked. It drives me nuts

The subreddit hasn't changed much (lots of TA, random videos, memes, occasionally educational stuff, FUD rehashing, and Get Schwifty). The only things I notice are during the ATHs and the dips right after the composition of "HFSP" and "Told You It was a Scam" seem to switch, haha. You find what you seek, I guess.

Disclaimer: I've been a Folding Ideas fan for a while. So, this video has given me some serious pause. I don't think he shared anything I didn't kind of know or feel already, but putting it all together in this one format was really something -- it prevented me from handwaving away my own internal concerns like I normally would. What's been really revealing for me is that I have yet to see anyone *actually* rebut many of his major points. Like, if he's so wrong, then show me? I've read people **saying** he's all wrong without backing that up, as if saying the thing makes it so; and I've read more intellectually honest folks saying, "He's right about most of this, but we're working on it, promise." Not terribly encouraging. There's this theme around r/CryptoCurrency that we don't care about or aren't interested in the technology. It's largely true. The reason for that is two-fold, I think. One, most of just can't speak intelligently about the technology at all, and we're just in it for lambos. Two, when someone does stumble in who understands the tech really well, they usually are pouring cold water on everything. I've seen quite lengthy comments explaining why blockchain is, in most if not all applications, a solution in search of a problem. To which the masses reply, "Boomer!" or "NGMI!" Boy, you *really showed them*. The part that bewilders me is how so many people think this is an opportunity to get back at Wall Street and the Fat Cats. How the Govt and the Fat Cats are just *fighting so damn hard* to separate you from your crypto. News Flash: The monied elites (let's call them the 5%) fucking love this space. And they love that you love it. And they really fucking love that you think that they fear it. Because that's just accelerant for the continued mach speed transfer of wealth we're seeing from the desperate to the comfortable. Pre-Edit: Any comments to this along the longs of HFSP, NGMI, FUD-er, etc., are just sort of mask-off moments where you reveal that it really is *just about money* and just about *climbing over people* to get what you think you deserve. It's not about making the world better. It's just about "being the boot."

I hope people understand that part of the reason why the mainstream perception of crypto is so bad is because of the cryptocurrency community itself. All people ever do is talk about token prices and jeer "HFSP, NGMI", while proclaiming their Bored Apes and shitcoins to be life-changing technology. The bad optics start because the crypto community itself mostly makes it like no more than a get rich quick scheme.
