I mean bear with me here (lol pun) in a normal market 21% in a month is almost unheard of especially in SPY and QQQ so what if -0.5 is a correction it’d definitely be a normal market correction so we have abnormal gains and normal corrections
I see QQQ recommended a lot, but SCHG not as much. They seem pretty similar besides SCHG including the NYSE market.
I have a question; from my understanding, a put is made when someone believes a stock will go down in price. According to my broker, QQQ is at $505.10 right now. Why would someone want to buy a put at a higher price than the current market value?
So in spite of endless hype, ETFs, Saylor purchases, and so on, BTC performance since April 2021 is about the same as QQQ
Dec 2024 I took out the profit of a $900,000 that I made over 2 years (87% aggregate return) Sat on cash 4 months in SWVXX. I get impulsive, and almost bought back in several times. Market was tanking and people said it’s dumb to try to catch a falling night.! They are right. For some reason on this ONE DAY, in 90 minutes, I used the full $900,000 and bought a bunch of beaten down stocks (META, AMZN, COIN, QQQ, VTI, etc That day was APRIL 4th🙏😱when market tanked 2,900 points! I got lucky as shit! Then, Wed April 9th market went up 2,200 points, and Today May 12th, it went up 1,160! At Close of market Today, my 1 day gain was $100,000! 95% is IRA SO No Tax Consequences. After the market closed today, I spent over an hour and put “STOP LIMIT” Sell Orders on every single position I hold good until November 7th. If anything drops 10% it triggers to sell it all! Good Luck!!!🍀👍
Amazon, Union Pacific, Costco, and QQQ.
QQQ 0dte calls @ $510
> I would consider my scenario failed if QQQ hits 520-525 You realize that is near all time market highs right? What the fuck. Strong stop loss. Truly regarded. Your parents are def proud
VOO, QQQ, VT, VXUS and VTI are all pretty standard low cost index funds. Check out r/ETF if you want more guidance.
XLV, QQQM, SPY or QQQ for two year hold strat. With $2k your issue is diversifying too much. Use some of that $500 to DCA into your stock holdings. I would use $180-$250 to load up your high conviction plays and HYSA the other $250. This way youre compounding. Personally, I'd choose QQQM, it has costco which is cool.
Here is more info / thanks @apathycr Tax-Efficient Trading with Section 1256 Contracts Section 1256 contracts are taxed at a favorable 60/40 rate: • 60% long-term capital gains • 40% short-term capital gains (Even if held for just a day!) These contracts are marked-to-market at year-end and reported on Form 6781 (simpler reporting, no wash-sale headaches). ⸻ 1. Index Options (Cash-Settled, European-Style) These qualify for Section 1256: • SPX – S&P 500 Index • NDX – Nasdaq-100 Index • RUT – Russell 2000 Index • VIX – Volatility Index • DJX – Dow Jones Industrial Average (Avoid SPY, QQQ, IWM — ETF options are taxed as short-term) ⸻ 2. Futures Contracts All futures on regulated exchanges qualify: • Equity Futures: ES (S&P), NQ (Nasdaq), RTY (Russell), YM (Dow) • Commodity Futures: CL (Crude), GC (Gold), ZC (Corn), etc. • Currency Futures: 6E (Euro), 6J (Yen), 6B (Pound), etc. • Interest Rate Futures: ZN (10Y), ZF (5Y), ZT (2Y) ⸻ 3. Mini Index Options (Lower Notional Size) • XSP – Mini-SPX (1/10 size of SPX) • MNX – Mini-NDX • XEO – European-style S&P 100 ⸻ Key Benefits: • Lower effective tax rate (26.8% vs 37% on short-term gains) • Simplified reporting • Great for frequent traders or high-income investors
I’ve been thinking about the risk in this. I had a QQQ long dated call and a spy long dated call that I sold this morning both of them profited 50% my thought on it is you could spend $2000 on a call to capture 20 grand worth of stock. Or just spend the 20 grand on the stock. Where the risk difference is if the market goes the wrong way you lose 100% of your option investment while only losing a couple grand of your stock investment and live to fight another day. That’s why you use a very low percentage of your portfolio.
Well, they have benefits compared to SPY/QQQ. The SPX/NDX options settle in cash, which means you are not assigned shares if you hold to expiration. They are also 10x the size of SPY/QQQ options. So, 200 of SPY would be 20 in SPX. They are also taxed 60/40 with 60% long term capital gains and 40% short term. Fees/commission also differs for NDX vs QQQ.
well, investor is just a word. One could say I’m a trader tho. I’m looking for larger gains, even if it means larger risks. but I still try to manage a healthy risk:reward ratio with that said, however I’m obviously going to hold some S&P and QQQ for safe growth like anyone would. I have a ROTH IRA with my job. trading is just a side income, and a hobby I’d like to learn more than anything.
Then do NDX. It's the equivalent to SPX but is QQQ correlation.
I’ve considered that and every time I need the right exposure I don’t get the movement in SPX. I just understand Nasdaq and QQQ correlation reasonably well for now
Do people like paying taxes? Why trade QQQ when you can trade SPX and pay much less tax?
https://preview.redd.it/3lruqrpgqf0f1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e87f47618abf130c1ebd3178a778a89161f5688a I took a day trade on my QQQ cuz the big boys will not buy and suck the time money right out of it till 2:30 when us small fish are in “Jeopardy of Being Closed Early “
QQQ puts at close should pay handsomely at some point tomorrow AM...right guys?...right?!
Need QQQ to open -2% or I’m cooked
I think you’ll be fine. You don’t need to hold until expiration and this doesn’t even need to hit $500 for the play to be profitable. All QQQ has to do is have a slight down day below the price of when it was when you bought this and you can flip it for a profit. Given that QQQ wasn’t $500 on Friday and today was an enormous rally, I’d say there’s a good bet that this prints.
LOL SPY and QQQ up 4% on the day and like clockwork, here come the wild FOMO bull posts after the entire move happened. This is the post I needed to confirm a short position. Inversing Reddit goes hard as a strategy especially after these massive moves. Thank you OP, in on SPXU.
My $7 in QQQ is looking preeetty pretty good right about now
I bought 505 QQQ calls expiring 5/14 I sold my spy calls at 9:40 this morning I held over the weekend to do it. I will get out of my position tomorrow at open and roll it all again to something else. Not sure yet what?!? Any ideas. I started with 400 dollars on Friday and now have 2.2k at close
The regards who decide on these things have been making dumb decisions lately. Same with QQQ
Markets aren’t open at the time and when news comes out it’ll already be priced in. You have no edge over other traders lol. Even in premarket trading, prices were up 4% on QQQ and dropped a little around open. You needed to be positioned BEFORE the event. And yes there are people who are profitable day trading and swing trading. You need an edge however and the vast majority of people do not have that.
I bought QQQ puts at open :)
It's a trade. If you don't have a dedicated entry and exit condition based on charts, you end up doing emotional decisions and getting burnt. I lose MORE trades than I win. But I make money trading because the wins are much much larger than the losses. You must have missed the QQQ puts, TSLQ or NVDS trades I did successfully and make good money on back in Feb and March. Or the IAU gains. Or EOSE gains.
Lol true, every fukking time you see gay bears coming out the closet… It’s the “top” “recession incoming” “its 2008 all over again” “SPY dropping 50%” it’s always buying opportunity… calls have a HUGe advantage over gay puts, so ts laughable anyone would buy puts on SPY or QQQ
Shit didnt need an advisor to know that the Liberation Day dip was 1000% a QQQ buy signal. Easy +15%
QQQ calls at close. Help me god
This sub and the other investing ones were unbearable in March and April. Nearly *every* post was about how the US economy would *never* recover. Ever. The US dollar was done. Europe was the future. Or Japan. Or whatever. "Get out now! It's got plenty more to bleed!" etc. "This isn't 2008! It's ten times worse!" "The stock market is a burning husk of what it once was (down 5% from ATH)" I guess the upside was I just blocked every one of those users and now I have a far smarter reddit timeline. Everyone knows in their bones that DCAing is the answer to almost every question. If you're asking "should I sell everything and go into t-bills?" the answer is almost never going to be yes. "But this time is different!" No it's not. Even if your thesis is this is self-inflicted, it's not a new phenomenon. People have been enacting tariffs for centuries. There's been saber rattling for millennia. You can literally be nuked, and come back with a stronger economy. In 2020, the majority of the world's economy was shut down in some way or another. Or idled. For months. We gained 15% that year, just the SPY. QQQ went up 45% percent. If you have cash on the sidelines, great. A dip is a wonderful thing to come across. But if you wait for a 10-15% drop and sell you're just a sucker. It makes me wonder how many of those posts were people with short positions who were attempting to cause more panic. I'm guessing a significant number. And it retrospect it makes me very happy they lost their shirts. Panic has no place in investing.
And indeed: afterwards, the QQQ kept its zzag and closed right around the same vicinity (507.85)...I get some bears wanted the QQQ to go back down, and I sympathize with some of their arguments...but it was not meant to happen today.
Regarding overall outlook, obviously you know I think the labour market is starting to roll over, 30% tariffs on China are depressionary policy, and valuations are 3rd highest outside of 1929 and 1999. Regarding the charts, both SPY and QQQ formed a monthly FVG which never really happens in bull markets and if you look at how price reacted in 2000, 2008, 2002 bear markets the market formed the FVG, went above it a couple months later, then got rejected and formed new lows aggressively. We have now gapped up above the FVG monthly resistance on both SPY and QQQ on low volume futures pumps. If you are a bull and want new ATHs and not to revisit the lows, you want to see the market DROP BACK INTO the FVG, spend a couple days there, then rocket back out of it. If you are a bear you want to see us stay above it or near the top of it, then reject downwards. If we close Map above these FVGs, I will still be bearish, but will likely take some long positions. I have out performed SPY by well over 100% over the past 5 years. I have periods where i perform like shit (2023 was -35% for example) and periods where I go beserk (ive had 3 different 3-month stretches of >100% returns since 2020)
I’m already invested in SPY & QQQ & SMH for my main portfolio but I opened a day trading account with only $2k to play around with TQQQ and it was a good call to hold my stocks from Friday Seriously considering putting another 20k in TQQQ btw
The time to slam the bid is when QQQ is up 5% 😂

QQQ 520 or 490 tomorrow
Backing the truck up for dirt cheap SPY and QQQ calls on this dip
Did you guys welcome the new QQQ bull market? (officially will close 20% off the lows after a 20% fall)
I met a uber driver laid off in November from the tech sector in Irving. He said buy QQQ puts for May @ 400. Easy money. Glad I didn’t 😂
Slow drip over time and guaranteed wealth. Guaranteed doesn't seem like manipulation to me. VOO, QQQ, SCHD, VTI - if you're not a trader - just stick to the basics and you'll win.
covered some QQQ short around 506.4 (from 507.4), hard-earned money
Last chance to buy dirt cheap SPY and QQQ calls before a massive power hour
Short ASTS calls, maybe some others if volatility is overvalued. Also, September SPY/QQQ puts.
Bears dead. QQQ 26% off the lows. VIX crushed. Put call ratio at lowest in 5 years. This is the entry to short bears dream of. Problem is bears are dead and too afraid to short (source: me)
Buying puts, ones I’d written and SPY/QQQ slightly OTM for September. Also, 6/20 AUR 9c, if they fill by close (looks to be selling off, so maybe.)
QQQ 509 EOD? What do we think
QQQ will dip its toes in at 505 and then probably close around 506-507 range. open tomorrow at 505 again
You realize you have puts on the general market, instead of $TSLA, right? Tesla has been moving with the general market since February. You might have as well bought $QQQ puts, it would've been cheaper.
just bought QQQ puts, now watch it rip to 600
Sounds like a beginner mistake. There are 5000 stock with options, but only 100-200 have real activity. The most important is bid/ask under .05 , also Open Interest (your strike has 58 open contracts) . So you are he fish they were waiting for. You should only trade options on stuff that is big at all brokers. Spy, QQQ, Goog, IWM, Meta, Nvda. I stay with Etf IWM, Spy , QQQ. Also Fidelity is not an options power house. Schwab, Tasty , IB all much better. So if you are doing options Tos at Schwab is the deepest platform, Tasty (written by the same group 10 years latter) is nice and a lot easier to learn. Tasty 1,000's of vids . Here are a few on Buying Power (which Fidelity hides ). Well, so rn (0216pm ET) the QQQ is around mid-506...and the nearest central tendency is below us at this interval (first number is the median): low:.(500.63; 497.55-503.71) This means that any hope for a decline may happen IF we enter the interval at 503.71, and then it's fair to expect some movement towards the median 500.63. But then I'd wait for any descent below 497.55, and that's unlikely to happen. (I use statistical forecasting to do this, with data updated as of the market open.) So my closing expects are basically zzag and maybe (maybe) a moderate decline to the upperhalf of the interval just mentioned. Keep eye on news feed but otherwise nothing big should be happening. (And higher prices are bound to be more unlikely as well.) See you all later.
Today SPY 3%+ QQQ 4%+ Tomorrow CPI comes cold We going to the moon this week
I am now 85% short on QQQ DUMPED all my longs into WSB bols that I bought at 4800 WSB said I was retarded for buying down there now they’re saying I’m retarded for selling up here…. Watch and wait
Sadly, Google looks completely cooked tho. I realistically don't see this going past QQQ $510 for the time being, and it continues to trade as if it has a brick firmly planted on its head. It's gonna lag like crazy when the Nasdaq pulls back.
QQQ straight up 80$ without a 1% pullback lmaoo
I really don't hate getting short here ahead of data tomorrow. I'm on a fuckin heater streak dude, seems like I cannot lose. Gonna trust my gut here, 5/30 QQQ poots. Nibbling
the QQQ chart looks amazing! \*looks at the RSI\* oh-
You can short SPY you know or QQQ. Or simply buy triple inverse ETFs for these to short them without having to do risk management related to margin. IMO, most of the sell off was due to shorts thinking that fundamentally US assets are screwed and I think many of them piled on. Bessent knows this along with many of the Trump insiders. They can squeeze the shorts like every week by announcing pauses and concept of a deal. Insiders will start the rally but shorts have to keep covering. BTW, markets can go beyond ATH if people still have short positions and they are forced to cover. Demand and supply plays a big role in crash and rallies like this, when the only people who are selling is shorts then the rally is going to be sky high when they are forced to cover. And after the rally starts most of the longs stay on the sideline leading to less supply hence the rally keeps going higher and higher.
kept shorting QQQ around 505,
QQQ
continue to short QQQ around 504.7;
Maybe you’re right, there is no lunacy in the market and I’m in a bubble somehow. Maybe it is better to not be educated and actually understanding how markets are supposed to work. I’m trying to understand what it is I am missing, your post isn’t pointing anything out though. You’re just making fun of someone you don’t know with only an irrational market gain to back you up. My 401k is still higher now than it would’ve been if I kept it as-is. My portfolio is up as well, though I had to roll a bunch of my options to not get assigned. I lost some money with SQQQ, but you could consider that a hedge anyway. I’m doing fine. I’m trying to understand why I’m doing fine. It makes absolutely no sense. The market should be down YTD… things are objectively worse now with a lot more risk. Yet QQQ is only 1.7% down. That’s nothing.
My QQQ puts are down 95%. I went in light and am only down about $400. It’s not the worst loss to me. I will take the 100% L on Friday if I need to and move on with my life. That being said, I was loading up on SQQQ shares last week around $29. I definitely bought more today. I’m sitting on an average of like $28 now.
SHorted more QQQ at 504.2,
I can’t tell is the market pumping or dumping. Do you guys think we can get a pump by the end of the day, I have a 505 call on QQQ
Shorted QQQ at 504 again, market feels ruggggy.
Okay, I see. Yeah, that is tough. I did the same with QQQ liberation day puts. If I held I was would have made 200k on 5k. So I guess I know the feeling.
I have a 505 call on QQQ expiring today am I cooked?
Well, earlier this year, I was holding onto 115K in 3 month QQQ puts because I thought the stock market was going to crash, but I didn't trust my thesis, so I sold most of it for a 50K profit and invested that into Tesla puts because I thought the fundamentals of Tesla were garbage and then lost like 70k on that trade. If I had held onto those puts until liberation day like I was originally planning, they would have been worth over well over 500K.
Bought some QQQ 500P for tomorrow, just because
QQQ should test 507+ today because that would be sweet
QQQ crashed at the peak around 27%. From the Bottom we recovered 28%. Why arent we already at ATH?
The QQQ is driven by large cap tech of which say MSFT seems like very mildly effected by any of this trade war nonsense no?
I bought a Friday QQQ 497p at open and I have a PLTR 123c I sold last week.
Just bought a QQQ put, ATHs here we come
What 0DTE's for today? QQQ?
Got a 505 call on QQQ am I cooked
QQQ
Would be down if it weren't for the QQQ squeeze, it's sad. It's very much a gripe for me even though I hold a lot of AI infra and then GS.
CNBC cuts him off mid ramble…..ok QQQ let’s goooooo
Y'all bought calls at open when QQQ was already up 3%? 😂
QQQ might hit ATH this week, what a world we live in
QQQ calls, Tesla puts. Ain't pretty, but it's a hobby
That retarded QQQ 500 call i bought Friday has me break even for the year finally
Loaded up QQQ SEP25 500P YOLO Puts at Open. Got a Good Price
QQQ 503c was only $.30. Think its gonna open at $4 something
I had a 130 QQQ 490C that expired worthless on Friday that I paid 34K for. Guess what they would’ve been worth today if I had just bought one more day to expiry
QQQ was already pissed to break back above the 200dma this week which would trigger a lot of buying. Add on the China tariff news and that buying is magnified. Bull market is back
The move is to probably just buy QQQ or SPY. Trying to guess which ones boom is pretty much just gambling
QQQ up 4% SPY up 3% 10Y up 2%
Trades on second picture of my main post for the past 3 months. Current Positions as below. QQQ put i bought on Feb18 3 qty for like 4k+ https://preview.redd.it/74n34jktgc0f1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05fb7fb18b9e935347656545566f256f494cd40e
