Those stores haven't been cheap for years. I compared Dollar General to Walmart and Safeway last year, The price for items was less at DG, but the contents of the packages were less than at other stores so the price per ounce came in the same. Also at DG and Dollar Tree most of the time the price rings up higher at the register than posted on the shelf. They've both have been fined millions for this practice but they literally make millions per day with the practice so they keep doing it.
What you want you might not get.. CVS or DG? Which one next to next will you go to?
If you like money, buy DG right now or whenever but hold. Thing going to $200.
DG will return 100% this year.
The thing about DG, now who in their right mind goes there to shoplift? Their P/E is not a joke like all the rest. DG actually becomes part of communities. DG for the win.
Went to my Dollar General today for bleach. Cleanest it's ever been. No restocks blocking every aisle. The one guy restocking and it was coke products. Their "home decor" section is 100% china imports. How will DG and dollar store survive?
I confess. I have held DG since the 70s. I think it's going to the $200s. BUIY BUY BUY. And hold.
Now everyone knows DG is the place for the best peanuts and sunflower seeds of your life, go check it out. DG is pretty freaking awesome..
DG gonna blow up to $200 or something in the next few days. Just look at it go
Doordash and DG certainly are making out. $10.3 billion in sales. DG will be the new ALDI

I had a similar thought. I made sure the strike price was as close as possible remained the same. I looked for differences in the Call/Put spread. Did it grow or reduce? An example. I own a DG CC. It was just a tip from a friend based mostly off RSI. My profit has been maxed for a while. I started wondering if I could play with the options. There appeared to be a fairly significant bear sentiment. RSI looks overbought as well. It has outperformed other retailers. All those combined, I'm relatively bearish on DG. This is not one of my followed stocks, but after buying it, I'm fairly vested and have been watching.
>an economic slowdown the first thing to go will be your 7$ cup of coffee You underestimate the typical Becky and her ability to be oblivious to financial pressures. Becky don't drink Maxwell, and sure as fuck don't shop at DG
If anyone’s feeling ambitious: DG got a mean gap-fill potential if it clears 97. No resistance until 119?
If anyone’s feeling ambitious: DG got a mean gap-fill potential if it clears 97. No resistance until 119.
yea im saying those 4 things is all we will be able to afford - mid-end grocerey, mac and cheese, DG stuff, and a netflix account to entertain your woman
They had massive sell offs before the rest of the market. DG is up 25% this year and down 33% over the last full year
When they said diversify, did that mean buy lotto tickets on a bunch of different stocks with OTM 1DTE? DG holding everything up for me
Everything is a bloodbath but for the 3 companies of choice do Rhinemetall, Gold, and MP Materials. The food should be Dollar Tree (if not allowed do DG or CPB), then for oil do BHP group since it goes mining. Tech stocks are really bad, invest in something that's recession proof like cyber security, PANW (Palo Alto Networks), and for health just choose United healthcare
Dollarama in Canada has better margins and better business model than DG. They're my pick
The signs are everywhere. Sightings of people forced out onto the street are increasing. Attractive people are driving Uber (hot girl index). DG stock steadily rising, etc...

that might actually be a really good outcome. fuck those trash stores (DG too, obviously)
DG stock is gonna go to the moon in this economy. Thank me later.
I use a similar strategy as you. For my 10% "gamble", I have had great success buying distressed stocks due to one time events. Last ~5 years, Meta 189%, NVDA 454%, DG 24%, CRWD 51%, SCHW 45%, BA -7%.
Post K,KO,DG,PEP/s days to shine
$DG is the only safe investment in America
My day trades: Keeping an eye on DG, WMT, and RKT. Expecting a rough red morning, but hoping for late morning and afternoon green.
that, and people buy DG when they expect everyone to be poor. now that the recession is cancelled no reason to be in DG.
Wasn't DG up yesterday when everyone else was down?
Dollar General stores are good at operating in areas where they're the only place around to get stuff. In those areas where people can't afford to have a car or transportation, they fill the gap of not having a supermarket or Walmart around. Bulk buy, sometimes in smaller size servings and limited brand selection. Last Week Tonight had a good piece on it a while back: https://youtu.be/p4QGOHahiVM Absolutely not surprised that DG will hold up through this garbage. People need soap, detergent, bandaids, bread, milk and other essentials, no matter where the prices go.
DG shares have treated me nicely
$DLTR $DG $GO
It's [DG](https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/DG)'s turn to have their time in the sun.
Had a good day with DLTR and WMT today. Gonna see if I can get a little run with them again first thing. Also have CRWV and DG on the possible list.
DG to $100+ please 🙏
DG (Dollar General) is pretty solid when things are bleak.
Working class Americans about to get absolutely fucked when shit from DG and Shein jumps 50% in price
Thats why I trust my Walmart advisor, he said buy DG and anything that people will start buying cheap...strange I always have to knock on his door that says janitorial room only.
Too many regards in here don’t understand ₿ is currently doing what it’s supposed to do in a time like this. In fact calls on ₿, MSTR, DG. Puts on literally everything else
DG is gonna bust out this week, recession incoming, DG gonna pump
DG leaps looking tasty
$DG was but even that has gone down now
DG is green. The market is pricing in new generational poors.
My DG calls are BUSTING. I think I’m gonna buy more for a month out, if a recession is really coming, this shit is going to pump to $120+ easy
Still holding my DG until I see it in the top tickers here.
DG about to be worth more than NVDA 😂🤣
Did well with TBBB and DG Thursday, so will most likely re-up those. Pretty volatile, but keeping an eye on AAPL and CRWV if they go on a morning run.

Up 147% holding MSFT and DG calls today
DG. People still have to shop somewhere.
$DG is my favorite safe haven asset. Up 4% today and 29% over the past month on shares.
DG only has 4% exposure to China and Vietnam vs DLTRs 34%
WSJ says: “Shares of the discount retailer fell 11% in premarket trading. The company receives the majority of its direct imports from China. It warned in February that tariffs could impair its ability to meet demand…”idk why DG is up tho
Yo. Why is DG (dollar general) up and DLTR (dollar tree) down? Aren't they both cheap stuff? Any one in either positions that can enlighten? More specifically, is DLTR possibly a good purchase?
DG & KR
DG is a good pop now but they're gonna be in trouble once warehouse stocks start running low
nice bro always nice to see that diversification. also DG is up like 20% YTD so thats nice to see.
Since we have these dumb tariff hikes DG might end up passing AAPL market cap
DLTR -10% vs DG +1%, make it make sense
DG saving my portfolio once again
leaps on DG, because that’s all we’ll be able to afford
MTG bought DG, not DLTR.

None, it's just a reddit meme because people without any education or real world knowledge want something easy to blame. Many PE acquisitions happen when a company is already going tits up and they think they can give them a life rift, save it, and make a ton of money from doing so. Or they think they can take a company and speed up growth. Notable examples: Hilton, DG, Beats, Hostess, Dunkin, etc. But, shockingly, some things are just shit and can't be turned around and end up struggling anyways - whether it's brand, poor business model, etc. and people will blame PE for killing it rather than actually rubbing the brain cells together to figure out the real "why". Same reason redditors will unironically blame "hedge funds" or whatever for killing shit holes like Toys R Us or a plethora of other horribly positioned brick and mortar stores.
Not that defensives. Defensive stocks are havens in recessionary times. Stuff like DG or VZ. etc.
All that "buy defense stocks, xlp, xlf, ya ya yah". Dude, only my GLD and fucking DG have actually performed
LOL. I was making a joke that you now shop at DG, because you so broke
DG CEO recently made a similar statement. Things are about to get weird.
People are sleeping on DG. I'll sell when I see it in the top tickers here.
You know...i drive past like 20 rv sales places...but they all seem half empty compared to when i bought my popup 20 years ago. Jaygo is probably in tears. Didn't know we made them. Sheesh. What a bad year. We haven't voted blue in most of this state since 2008. Even after the NBA had to be the "good guy" with Pence and tell him the Pacers would leave if he did not start pulling his punches. What a world we live in. If you work for Schnucks....yeah - I am watching them try to compete. Almost every small grocer in my area is gone unless is Walmart, Schnucks, or tiny asian and mexican markets. I am coupon clipping right now for the first time in my life. Like I said, I am ok, but trying to figure out how to weather this storm. sorry for typos. Just work up and I seem to forget how to type fast and use the Shift key...or just about anything right. Not sure if the DG thing matters....we have had 20 in my city for years. Not sure how they all stay open, worked at one a decade ago between jobs, and it was the most physically demanding job and worst paid I have every had. 3 workers for a store....and I was the only male so guess who did all the dog food and bleach every 3 days.....I threw those black jeans in the trash the day I quit when corporate came in as asked why I had to run register and stock. Do not ask. Help you cucks. That said....I learned you can apparently order 20 national new papers and coupon clip them. Watching an old lady get 20 packs of Bic pencils for 3 bucks was fun to watch. Annoying, but quite interesting.
What’s your thesis and price target for DG
Same old positions- GOOG,HOOD, KSS calls; DG, ASTS puts
My HOOD calls kept my port in balance. DG and ASTS puts drained my profits 😞
DG and ASTS puts are playing with me😂
Fuck. DG is green. Not a good sign
Calls: GOOG, HOOD, KSS Puts: ASTS, DG
As long as there are poor people and as long as the rural areas stay rural enough, DG will be just fine. Plus why invest in Dollar General when you can invest in O who owns the building ;)
Sure, but even on cities such as Chicago where there is a robust public transit system, that system has significant deficiencies such that even if you had access to go into the loop for a job, you may not have good access to a reliable grocery store that isn't DG because others don't exist within a reasonable distance to that system. So it's not just the 95%, it's even in the 5% that *do* have a semblance of public transit.
Calls: GOOG, HOOD , KSS puts: ASTS, DG. Port up 13%🤣
I live 20 minutes to a grocery store and 2 minutes from a DG. If all I need is an item or two I am missing I will go there. No need to drive 20 minutes cause I started cooking baked potatoes and realized I forgot sour cream.
I don’t do puts, I just buy and keep long term. Don’t invest in DG until the middle of April, analyze the graphs predating July 2007 and GDP growth from July 2007. There’s correlation there with what’s happening now, not exact but similar.
I had one near my house, but in a very high income part of Florida. Prices on things were high, but beer was strangely cheaper than many other places. No mind: it was torn down and replaced with a Publix about a year ago, which is vastly higher still on everything. Example: Yuengling Flight, 12 pack bottles was 17.99 at DG. At Publix, $20.99.
People should stop viewing DG as a convenience store and view them as a land holding company. Look at the real estate they own. And with each store they build, more land is owned by them.
In major cities, at least the one I'm in currently, find the trailer parks, find a DG. It's a marketing strategy.
They take the “market” for rural towns. Living in OK, you now see a DG in every small town you drive through. They don’t have enough folks or money for a local grocery store, so you get the next shitty corporate version because there is nothing else.
Recognize that nearly every country has tariffs on other countries. It's not a new concept. The US has tariffs on Canada. Canada has tariff on the US. England has tariffs on China, etc. To put things into perspective, of the G20 countries, the US currently has one of the lowest average tariff rates on imports . Whether you like it or not, Trump views that as an imbalance and is reciprocating given our debt issues and trade imbalances. There are a lot of sources for this data but I like [this one](https://www.instagram.com/datainrace/reel/DG258CDPTlU/) because it shows the change over time and includes the references: When tarrifs adjust, there is a period of disruption where supply and demand shifts to accommodate the new price arbitrage. But, in all economies, things do shift. New factories are built, business partners change, etc.
May I send you a survey regarding your disregard for Dollar General? It will only take 5 minutes and you’ll be automatically entered into a contest with a grand prize of $50 credit at any of our DG locations. Certainly restrictions apply.
Sadly, yes. You will see a lot of these stores in low income urban and rural areas. They might be the only place that sells food in a small town or neighborhood. People think they are getting a good deal because they are paying less for a a box, can, or pack of something and not realizing that they are buying a smaller version of what you would buy at target or Walmart. I got my grandmother to stop shopping at DG when I broke everything down and she could just drive an extra 15 minutes and be at a Kroger.
Cost basis DG 87, I guess it could be worse
