Imagine being Dollar General that has customers more impacted by high fuel costs, and DG just went through self inflicted wounds of trying self checkouts AND firing long term employees in hopes of saving money. It turns out self checkouts at Dollar General meant steal anything you want. Then they yanked the self checkouts but since most of their stores are more rural - those employees they fired were long gone and they hired new people BUT they still want to save money so not enough. DLTR and DG... people's wallets have been hit hard this year, plus these things are everywhere... except central LA for some reason. Would love a dollar tree close by.
I agree consumers many of them are reducing costs, but opinion of Walmart. It also stays stable due to new consumers from other stores. Though the regular shoppers may spend less, there are shoppers who prior went to Publix, and Krogers, who move to Walmart. To get a better bang for the buck, even if it is 20 mins further away. So they might have the previous customer dollars reduced $100 a month, but they add new customers who spent higher dollars else where at Walmart. It is the same for DG, and the Dollar store. I am a buy on both Walmart and DG for this reason.

Not me. I'm buying things near the bottom of their 12m range in a number of sectors that are not part of the semiconductor bubble such as CEG, CHWY, DG, HD, NVO, SMR, and SOFI. It's too late to chase things that have bubbled to ATH and I don't believe that sector can deliver results at their current valuations and capex burn rates.

HPE - Earnings report and enterprise AI services. KR - Long term hold in case of recession. DOCU - Earnings report coming up, looks like annual plateau. DG - Dollar tree jumped 10% on earnings report last week. I figured DG might do the same this week. SPCE - One share to start DCA long term. Small investment in all of them to minimize risk.

On another note, DLTR was up 18% today off earnings. I had mentioned the DLTR/DG dip a month ago as one to take note of. Glad to see the classic strat of buy the dip on the out of favor sector played out well again. Now onto the next. There's always a deal somewhere, just gotta find it.
Also sold little bit of high flying stocks and bought UL and KR. Going to get some DG. I think DG is a better staples pick.

The joke about dollar general building their stores where murders happen isn’t even a meme, I worked an arson murder once as a firefighter and a year later they built a DG across the street lmao. Victim was Native American woman so federal ATF agents responded. I had no idea they investigated federal arson crime.
