Why not buy the regional banks? KEY PACW WAL CMA FRC FITB etc. ?

FITB and TFC tomorrow if you can
HBAN and FITB both beat EPS.
HBAN and FITB both beat EPS.
Demand. SOFR is still a market-set rate. It is generally not supposed to go above IORB for long, because when it does banks can arbitrage them back to parity, so IORB is considered a ceiling. SOFR spikes above IORB when there is high demand for cash or collateral. SOFR has been going above IORB at quarter ends for "window-dressing"---essentially everyone trying to get a good balance sheet snapshot for their 10-Qs. The spike in mid-Sept was to pay corporate taxes. But now? There is no obvious innocuous explanation, so it's probably related to regional banks and private credit: JEF, FITB, ZION, WAL, OWL, KKR, BX, etc.
FITB's up 3% PM, this is a fake ass dump.
lol >Fifth Third Bancorp (FITB) and Regions Financial (RF) were among the S&P 500's biggest decliners, with both stocks sliding close to 6% after Zions Bancorporation (ZION) said it was taking a $50 million third-quarter charge to cover a pair of bad loans How does $50 million in bad loans cause such a market contagion
Who is gonna short FITB and CMA with me?
Anyone looking at FITB, OXY, or ZVRA calls?
Still can’t get over how wild FITB-CMA deal is. Literally hinging the whole thing on a bet that FITB stock doesn’t crash and burn before completion of deal 🥲
FITB has no cash. They need all possible cash to cover their auto loan portfolio lol.
Was there a run on Comerica? Why does the news only talk of FITB taking over Comerica in an all stock deal? Wouldn't they need a cash infusion?
Comerica literally collapsed over the weekend and FITB is in such bad shape that they were allowed (forced?) to do an all-stock deal just to get hands on Comerica deposits.
OZK, RF, FITB or CFG? Scoping out regional bank stocks to ride the rate cuts.
FITB embroiled in bad loans for migrant auto loans story lol 🫣 JPM & Barclays both apart of the story.. but we know who is gonna hold the bag here. Eassssy put play.
FITB announced it’s making $200M bad loans. Stock greenish/flat. Easy way to make money on puts once news actually filters in.
Anyone able to get FITB puts this morning? If so, grats
Some poor bastard just bought FITB 💸
FITB: I'm going to $0, and I'm taking CLBR with me 💀 CLBR: don't cry for me, I'm already dead 🥀
FITB will be a 60 Minutes story featuring J Pow < 3mos FDIC' what you did there
Before the government stepped in, yes, we were bracing for a complete collapse of the financial system of the USA. I worked (still do) in financial services in downtown NYC. Everyone knew that Citi was going out. Bank of America to follow. Wells was well and truly effed - probably would collapse once the ball was rolling. AIG, Lehman, Bear and hundreds of small banks were already toast. One investor I knew told me he had his book out and was buying in Feb 2009. He was all in on FITB. It was like $3/sh. The divvy alone today is $1.48. If he held, he gets a 50% yield every year. Once the government announced it was a backstop, it wasn't clear skies, but we knew we were not collapsing. I still wish the government had wiped the equity holders out of all the trash banks and insurers and recapitalized them, but the ancient wounds have healed.
Researching which regional banks will tank in January after marking thier ten-year treasuries to market at year end. Looking at you KEY and FITB.
I bought calls/LEAPs on almost all of the ones you listed, plus a couple of others back in the April/May/June time frame. I'm up anywhere from 80-172% depending on the call. Some I've already sold and I still have some (BAC, RF, FITB, etc). My calls are expire in 2026.
You think FITB screwed? Loan book all messed up ?
I started trading with DRIP’s in 95. When broker fees were still $40/trade. Huge advantage. NOw that has completely switched. The Drips charge fees to invest and the trades are free. I was actively trading in 2008-2009. I made huge money on FITB. I had the DRIP account for years and lowered my cost basis to around $2.25. Same thing with my top name, CSL. Bought lots of shares from 95 on through 2012. It’s funny how the stocks that make my portfolio profitable are never mentioned anywhere. I used to brag about owning Intel for that long, now it’s a big regret for holding that long. At this point, owning Intel is like holding onto your Dads old ties, hoping they come back in style. ISRG was my only other 🚀. I bought shares from 2007 -2010 and sold in early 2017. I had college expenses for the kids. It’s great to say I held forever, but it’s better to make the money real at some point. I was an Army recruiter during those years and I was at a recruiting event at Lehigh University. Bear Sterns had an empty booth there. Their recruiters were in the hotel, packed up and went home. The other bank reps were nervous as hell. And the other lesson I learned is about having an ample supply of dry powder. I bought with every spare $ I could get my hands on. I just wish I could have had more to invest. I’ve been trimming several positions over the last week, just to make sure that I have the ability to grab shares when/if they plummet. We have all been begging for a rate cut for a year now, but the headlines that give us the rate cut won’t be pretty.
C, JPM, BAC, PNC, FITB, ZION calls. Banks about to have a good fucking two weeks.
If that's what u believe is really happening, all I can say u are seriously about to get fcked. I am not gonna teach u economics but do look up how regional banks were doing last night. Ticker: MS, WAL, ZION, FITB,C, CMA, BAC and so on. Tell me how all the banks droping 2%-6%isnt indicative of stressful conditions.
U are better off just shorting small and big regional banks. Zion, WAL, FITB, CMA, C, MS, BAC all of these were down 2%-6% last night u just need 1 good weekly out and u are out.
Anything paying a dividend over the Fed rate, like bank preferred shares or regionals like KEY, FITB, CFG, HBAN
Own shares of DOUG, FITB, MFA, PPBN, and TLT. I was hoping to get to 6969.69. Maybe next year. Sold all my options.
Regional bank stocks are boring but I'm +39% in 6 months. FITB - fifth/third
I’ve been a DRIP investor since the mid 90’s. It was a great option at that point in history. At that point a brokerage trade was $40/trade. Drip 💧 investing had minimal fees. Now it is exactly the opposite, DRIP fees are crazy and will eat into your overall returns. For example, I sent a $150 to purchase FITB. The plan charged me $5 fee to purchase, there are also fees to invest the dividends. As a difference, I’ve built a dividend position in MS over the past year. I buy 2 shares every Friday. 60+ buys and dividend additions with ZERO fees. I would use the Roth IRA option discussed above. Or and E-trade or Schwab account. No fees. From a DRIP investor, it’s an outdated concept.
Hard pass.. Fcf is fuct. Divy too low to be in sweet spot for me. FITB will be in FL mkt soon enough...much better midwest regional bank. Other regionals have more going for them too. But good luck.
CSL - Super boring company- I’ve owned and bought shares through 💧Drip for 25 years. Still buying more shares. I always thought Intel was a forever position, but cutting the dividend hurt my feelings. FITB - Fifth Third Bank - Regional Banks are under the gun, but after 25 years of owning, I’ve been through it before. I have an equal weighting of Next Gen tech that I will hold for a long time: 1.PANW 2. SNOW 3. PLTR 4. FVRR
Yes - love RBs very long since SVB went down. KEY, FITB, CFG, MTB, and USB.
How much does Book value play a role in decision making? From my understanding of the definition, seems like book value should be the bottom price a stock should ever trade at, and if the current price is under book then it should be a sure buy. But i've read that book can be manipulated by the way values are reported, which means it shouldn't be used to judge bank stocks. BAC, USB, SYF, FITB are fairly close to book right now while C is roughly Half of book. I would think Book would be a good indicator for manufacturing because of the physical assets. Is there a reason(s) price would be trading below book that i should look for? Even GME and BBBY going down still rebound to Book as they were failing.
HBAN, CFG, and if I had to pick a 3rd: KEY or FITB
FITB finally moving 🚀🚀 Been holding since early march waiting for it to get going again.
Saudi production cuts, summer coming up. Sounds like Travel/airlines and oil/energy stocks. The guy doing DUK is on to something… CCL as well. DAL is the only real US airline to go with. I’d be curious about Booking.com, XOM. For banks the small ones like MTB, FITB, and KEY all have the same exact price action and I’d be curious if the new student loan repayments starting back up will benefit banks at all. That said, a real estate problem could really fuck the banks again too.
I bought 450 shares of FITB let’s gooooo
Since February Nvidia NVDA +48% Microsoft MSFT +23% Google GOOGL +17% QQQ +10% Retail XRT -19% MetLife MET -25% Fifth Third Bank FITB -33% Foot Locker -35% US Bancorp USB -38% Macy´s M -39% Lincoln Financial LNC -39% Kohls KSS -44% *The market is crashing internally.
USB? Supposedly not as burdened by long-term low-yield assets, and not under threat but still beaten down and paying 6.6%. FITB? ditto, paying 5.6%, with a history of dividend growth.
I’m not a fan of O, because the P/E is 43 and there is growing concern about the asset quality. I think it carries equal risk with FITB, but the P/E is 7 with FITB (due to both having similar asset collateral). Not familiar with Jepi. But just allocate a mix so you don’t have all your eggs in one basket.
FITB is still a buy for me. Very undervalued and they've said things about not messing around in crypto and all that junk
$FITB or $ALLY, pick your poison
I personally think $FITB (5/3) is the next to go
I bought puts on KEY and FITB, both went up ah
Why is FITB pumping
Added more puts in ZION, PACW, WAL, FITB, USB and KEY No call hedges lol
Here's more. $ZION $CMA $KEY $CFG $HBAN $RF $FITB $FHN $PNC
\*gets down on knees\* Dear Jesus, please protect my FITB calls
To OP: Please explain to us how Jamie Dimon is responsible for your speculative trading loss in a failed bank, and how a sale to alternate bidders PNC, First Citizens, FITB, or an FDIC liquidation scenario would have resulted in a gain for you?
Just based on stocks movements I'd wager on PACW, WAL, ZION, EWBC, and FITB.
FITB (5/3) in Cinci, HBAN in Columbus, and KEY in Cleveland iirc. For major-ish regionals.
keeping an eye on FITB and KEY however i hope both to pass through this mess safely
Ohio’s other banks, FITB and KEY, are also down.
I’m sure I’m blocked but… “That forced many regional lenders to start paying more to keep depositors or attract them back. Deposit costs for Comerica rose 2,850% from a year ago, to $118 million. At Zions, these costs were up 1,266%, to $82 million. At Cincinnati lender Fifth Third (FITB) and Cleveland lender KeyCorp (KEY), the increases were 4,245% and 2,400%, respectively.” This is why earning won’t bounce back and why deposit flight is a big deal. Their NIM is going to suffer big time. Even if FRC survives their earnings will be significantly lower going forward. This isn’t $100+ dollar stock anymore even if there was 0 risk of bankruptcy.
#Ban Bet Lost /u/HelloTheirCruleWorld made a bet that FITB would go to 35.0 within **1 month** when it was 25.758 and it did not, so they were banned for a week. Their record is now 2 wins and 5 losses
And my FITB 34$ C are worthless.. damn
I’ve only looked somewhat seriously at Fifth Third (FITB,) which seems somewhat strong. I’m speaking more generally about the sector as a whole- I could def see a couple more getting blown up, but that just makes it easier for the strong regionals to move in and increase market share. Again, I’m just speaking broadly about regionals, not any bank in particular.
I love the banks right now and I am heavy, but you got to diversify when we are talking 40k. Split it up between Key, USB, TFC and FITB. All pay good dividends and I think will come out of this well. But you got to diversify to prevent possible disaster
I own both HBAN and FITB. I owned Key until they jumped last week so I sold and took a decent profit.
I got a question. I bought some FITB $35 5/19c on 3/14. Same IV as they are right now. But the stocks up 9% this week but the options are down 20%+ this week. Why is this? There isn’t time decay or Iv crush.

Regional bank but FITB. I personally bank there so I have a bias
FITB up after citi analyst posts regional bank strong liquidity list!
I invested late last week. Don’t think the deep dive is necessary during moments like this Split it up between 4 of the bigger regional banks with good/conservative reputations (FITB, USB, TFC, and KEY). I didn’t do any kind of deep dive on these banks
FITB seems to be lagging other regional banks on the pop today
Bought some Fifth Third Bancorp (FITB), paying 5.3% after a decline. Low P/E, and has a history of growing dividends. Supposedly, this one has low long-term bond exposure but got punished along with rest of secgor.
Damn good luck I think FITB can go tits up eventually be nimble
Got laid off on Friday and got thousands in may FITB 35$ calls…
MTB, PNC, CFG. Less risky and going to hold them longer. NYCB, KEY, FITB. Moderate risk but small positions. FRC. Bought at 20 and sold at 45 for original investment and 20% profit.
Looking at some of the ETF's like IAT, they hold less than 2% in one bank. I haven't tried looking or figuring it out but I'm wondering what the impact would be on the entire ETF if one or two went under. Is it as simple as figuring out the total holdings of that bank in the ETF and converting that to a percentage of the NAV. I like the strategy of picking one or two solid regionals. FITB would good. I actually had HBAN during the 2007 crisis and made some good money off it.
I am looking at FITB (Fifth Third) balance sheet looks good, earnings are decent, and it pays a 5.2% yield
Larger regional bank M&A spree coming soon. Bankers salivating at what USB, FITB, CFG, TFC, and KEY will do next. Bring on the deal premiums baby!
There are so many other banks out there that are being punished but don’t have the risk. Pick one or ideally many of those. FITB, PACW, SCHW, etc.
You already have a bet going - FITB to 35.0 before 18-Apr-2023 12:06 PM -05
FITB had some upper management buy over 1mil of stock
I opened some calls on FITB. I personally bank with them so I have some conviction.
My $34c FITB bout to take a huge hit. They Exp 5/19 though so im not to worried
FITB is the next to fall balls deep in April puts
**Ban Bet Created:** **/u/HelloTheirCruleWorld** bet **FITB** goes from **25.76** to **35.0** before **18-Apr-2023 01:06 PM EDT** Their record is 2 wins and 4 losses.
I bought the hell out of it and FITB, too.
I kept scrolling to see if anyone said FITB... I'm already a shareholder, today was brutal.
