Sounds like a solid strategy and you know what you’re doing. I recently did a FR with my mother and she’s in her 70’s and I’m advising her to get into safer investments as well. I think the individual stock picks are always based on fundamentals and income generation. Though I don’t really know the market is trading based on fundamentals… My FA is annoyingly risk averse and retirement focused, while I have more risk tolerance and include emerging markets in my tax advantaged accounts for example. I think it all comes down to what you want to get out of the stock be it dividend income, low entry cost, growth etc. Their philosophy is that when you buy index funds you’re also buying a large number of losing stocks and they want to avoid that. And to be clear they have made some bad picks like Adobe and Uber but also great ones like Alphabet at avg cost of $152. Overall though it’s been a decent strategy and I’m comfortable giving them a portion of my portfolio to manage, and I definitely understand your reservations about it and your strategy for your parents at this stage seems reasonable. I would probably be mostly in bonds at 85 myself. I’m sure they appreciate having you around and hope they also recognize how much work it can be.

The condition of every car has been exactly as advertised: I've had no hidden issues or defects or lemons. Two of the cars were Hyundai Sonatas that easily cruised past 100k miles with zero issues with very spotty maintenance (those were actually my brother's). The other two cars were enthusiast vehicles: a Scion FRS and a Hyundai Veloster N. Both were very low mileage when I bought them (~10,000-15,000) so they were practically new. No dings or scratches or damage, both run exactly as expected. The FR-S had some gremlins with the infotainment (Bluetooth would disconnect randomly) which I doubt had anything to do with the reseller. The Veloster N developed a HPFP issue randomly, which was replaced at a dealership under warranty for free. This is common in those models. I did have a title issue in one of the vehicles (the FR-S) which wasn't transferred to my name promptly. This was annoying, but resolved via email in a semi-timely manner. Though I had the same issue with a brand-new Dodge Ram I purchased *from the dealer* so I think that's just a "salespeople aren't great at details" kinda thing. The purchase experience is *phenomenal*. You enter the VIN of your trade-in, they give you *far* too much for it, and you do all the financing online. No haggling, no sales manager, no upselling. No sitting in those shitty little sits while they go in the back and let you stew. Just click through like 4 screens from your own home. Then, two days later, a branded flatbed arrives and drops your new car off and hauls the old one away. **That's it**. By comparison it took something like 4.5 miserable hours to buy my wife's last car from a dealer, and we didn't even get the color she wanted.

Not really.. compared to the $ return for energy…nuclear fusion in FR costs $0.03/Kw to the residents… even cheaper for commercial. $45-$65B in a research facility and can’t even guarantee a working unit that can stabilize a fusion reaction for more than 30 minutes…extrapolate that to 24hrs for a moment…in 24hrs = 48(30 min segments.. we multiply the $45B CapEx ..= $2.16T…actually close or equal to all AI investments of the Mag 7 (that number is the most conservative value.)

You're right that FWA is the clearest use case today, but you're significantly understating the problems with current solutions. Analog/hybrid solutions still have pain points; mmWave FWA Gbit/s rates have been proven for distances of several kms under Line-of-Sight conditions, but based on simulations, assuming 3GPP rural macro models, the fraction of non-Line-of-Sight users is still 27% over a 500m cell size, 47% over a 1000m cell size and 60% over a 1500m cell size. As we know, analog beamforming handles nLoS very poorly. In the presentation Beammwave gave an example measurement of a 64 antenna FWA system (RX performance, NR-FR2, 2 MIMO layers) where their digital beamforming performed 40% better over analog in a LoS environment (losing to ideal DB by only some few %) and 300% better over analog in an nLoS environment (losing to ideal DB by only some few %). So, analog systems have the capacity, but the networks need to be unnecessarily dense and are tricky to install due to the line-of-sight shortcomings of the analog systems. This is not "FWA is working fine". Being able to harvest the nLoS energy and getting to basically self-installable hardware due to not being directionally fussy anymore will save the operators literal billions of dollars on less dense and service-intensive networks, and that's totally in line with the claim that operators are screaming for a solution, and that there's customer urgency. Besides, the bill of materials for building FWA on Beammwave chips seems like it might outcompete analog systems as well, if Beammwave manages to hit the 1-2 USD per chip price range they've mentioned in the past. In general I think you're overindexing on the US/western markets, where I think you're mostly right that mmWave isn't in vogue (where by the way T-mobile told the FCC they gave back their spectrum precisely because they couldn't meet coverage requirements due to the LoS propagation characteristics that made it too expensive to cover large areas with their massive analog panels - this could be done easily with small cell deployments of a distributed architecture).

I have a different opinion: - Making the equipment and infrastructure for cmWave and mmWave cheaper and better will increase the incentive to use it. - mmWave (and cmWave?) is mostly about capacity in the network rather than speed in the handsets. - As long as there are some spots that need FR2 or FR3, you have a case, but the infrastructure will only be installed in those spots.
