We held elections during WWII and the fucking Civil War, there is literally no way for him to suspend the elections.  While he may try, there's also no way he can prevent 50 states from holding elections, even with ICE. To put it bluntly: he fired every competent military leader and they still haven't had the balls to put boots on the ground in Iran, and you think they'll invade CA, MN, and other blue states?  His only play is to invalidate the results which isn't going so well for him atm, he's trying to purge 20k ballots in CA with a flawed AI list that's been shot down once already and 0 proof.  There's not much they can actually donate long as people turn up to vote, vote early, and take steps like delivering ballots to drop boxes and signing up for ballot tracking and confirmation.

You have to pay a premium to be in the Indian stock market. The one reason I am invested there ( 20% annual return for last 5 years basis ETFs and index funds). The market itself has given 15% annual return for last 20 years. The story is intact and if you wait for right multiple- you will never get to invest in India. There are nuances. Btw that is one of the least inflated asset in India. A no frills house in Delhi can go for 400-500K$ (4-5 MN$ in good areas). A top 10% salary in India is 15K$/year , so a normal house is 40X of annual salary and rental yield is ~1-2% for the top earners. This is when interest rates for housing loans are ~9%. So essentially over a 30 year loan period, you have paid 2X on interests. However, real estate demand is through the roof. Make it make sense. Issue is every asset/ investor in India already factors in the upcoming growth. So this leads to a situation where a monthly high speed 500MBPS internet connection costs 15$ results in free subscription of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus and fifteen more OTT including competitor of Spotify etc ( All 4K, unlimited streams). I get free Amazon prime from my phone operator, my internet provider. I also bought it standalone as it costs only 10$/year and gives 1 day delivery. This FOMO to be in Indian market is leading to even WSJ charging 5$/month for their subscriptions. Even Apple is not spared as they charge only 1$/month for Apple Music and are trying tooth and nail to reduce IPhone prices. Obviously, all the companies and Amazon who has invested 8BN$ in 6 years (losing a cool 1BN$/year) are seeing something. They are ready to play the long game. The Indian industrialists are ready to play even a longer game. Wanted to give a perspective of what’s happening in India. Btw- Invested heavily in the stock market, real estate. My entire worth is in there even though I get to invest in US/ European stock markets.

Well, Dupont and Honeywell are the big manufacturers of refrigerant. In my opinion they are so heavily traded and such large cap/volume you would need a fortune to do anything with a major swing. Carrier, AAON and Daikin are some of the larger equipment manufacturers. I'm hesitant on them because every unit I work on is absolutely shit. The metal is so thin it dents with hail now. the motors are so close to the borderline rating if you get heavy winds they overheat. Daikin owns Goodman Manufacturing and they seem to be the only people attempting to keep costs/quality at a consistent level. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I AM NOT RECOMMENDING THEM FOR YOUR HOME. Mitsubishi Electric (MIELY) manufacturers some of the most efficient energy inverter tech on the market. Build quality is superb and stands up to the beach environment at my house on the river in Florida. They have expanded their line to include all different aspects of unit instead of the traditional wall hung bar style. Of the 20-30 systems installed, not a single customer has seen less than 1/2 of the power consumption. Most are seeing houses set as cold/hot as you want and no swings in power consumption. Father-in-law got a new unit last Christmas, power bill over summer went down from 310 down to $165. They are solar friendly, most ac systems use a "hard start" type feature which draws up to 150amps all in .1 sec, Mitsubishi units do not do that, so batteries and solar grids can support them. Prob a shit call but I like Mitsubishi. Good quality, cost is same as other equipment and the installation is way easier. No more ducting. Let this housing market bubble dwindle some more and they should be ripe. Sub $15 and I got 5k waiting. There are a handful of service companies (sym:FIX) who (in my area) are charging 500% on top of the new 300% inflated price. They are going to be printing money in the service side of their business and equipment change outs SHOULD jump heavily for each year. This will run up until 2025 or 2026 and then see a slowing of installations as most people will have converted to the new r290 or r1234xy or whatever they decide to push. These guys being larger will have to weather the storm of the houses bubble pop, my first employer had a really rough go in 07-09 laid off 50 right after Xmas.(we had 120, 10 service, 15 office and the rest were install crews working subdivisions) By the end it was 10/5/10 and the owners were not drawing paychecks. If they make it through there will be far less competition driving install prices north and if you can't afford new, repairs are way better margins. Main reason for service company stock: with lack of parts to actually build units if these shortages get worse, repairs may be the only viable option for most. Low income people may not be able to afford new or repairs but the repairs will be more within reach. My buddy works for centerpoint in MN they do very well with all home shit and they treat their people fairly well from what I gather. Again sub 15 and I'm def looking. Just need that "oh shit" news article. Another option is to go into business with your local dudes and help them buy a pallet of refrigerant. When a typical home unit uses 8-11 lbs and a jug is 25lbs for $399. Average recharge costs on the low side are 500+ if you are a nice human and on the high side currently are over $2000. You get 2-3 refills per jug. So if you were helping a local you SHOULD see your money back in a hurry. Currently on Carrier and Lennox equipment refrigerant leaks are so common I'd say it's close to a coin toss whether it's a decent coil or not. Lots of info, so sorry. I just like people knowing about what I do and what I have to fight through every day. Unfortunately I can't live with myself if I 100% screw people, so here I am a hard working derp.

So live in a city where the median rental price is 12k/year (they do exist). Work in that city center and take public transportation when needed. It’s only as expensive as you make it. It’s not a miscommunication. It’s in the SOP’s and I have directly asked them many times. In MN, you need 65k. I don’t run the company. If that Market pays that much, then that’s the wage for their skills. Salary’s are based of the current job market. Corporate won’t approve me giving them a raise to 75k because some far left nut job believes a worker should have a right to a middle class lifestyle. Get your head out of the clouds and come back to reality. Good luck with the Market Place after leaving your moms basement.

The cars are too expensive, and there are more people selling $100k cars than people to buy them. They introduced a $5k electric car in China, and within in a few months it was out selling the $50k Tesla. I'd love for that to happen here. Electric cars are no longer novel enough to be their own market. Lucid is just another car maker. For the same price, and in electric, you can get a Tesla, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, etc. The competition in the high end car market looks pretty tough. If I were going to spend $100k on a car, which I could, but won't as that is too much to spend on a car, I'd go with the electric Volvo, mainly because of the 3 forward facing rows, and I learned how to drive in a Volvo. There's a Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, even Tesla dealer in my state, but I doubt there's a MN Lucid dealer. How would warranty service work? Pretty sure my corner mechanic would nope out. Lucid as a stock was a part of the "everything bubble" that is now deflating. Being a new company, and a bit of a meme stock, it is going to deflate more than a blue-chip company like Ford or GM that also makes a $75k electric car, the F150 or the Hummer. It is not entirely clear if Lucid as a company is going to make it out of the recession. Many promising looking companies did not survive the dot-com bubble bursting. I think in 20 years, these fancy new car makers are going to be a curiosity like the Dusenberg, Cord, Pierce Arrow or any number of car makers that didn't survive more than a few years. The list of "defunct US car makers" numbers well into the hundreds: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_defunct_automobile_manufacturers_of_the_United_States

I love the bullets, let’s try that same format. - Who appoints the head of the NBER? Oh yeah, the president. - Who appoints the head of the BLS, who did the original report of incredible job growth which the president latched on to for midterms? Oh yeah, the same president. - Riiight, and who appoints the people in charge of such changes? Oh that’s right we already covered that, it’s the president. - Show me any revision ever even remotely close to what is going to be close to 10MN if these numbers are accurate. Ultimately it’s hilarious how you are trying to make these all seem like completely separate from the executive branch when in reality the president installs the leadership to ensure they work as he’d like them to, and guess what? If they don’t, he can replace them! Funny how all that was missed in your desperate attempt to act superior to everyone else.

Yea things don't look good for any of the mountain/southwest states along the Colorado River. The river and lakes are all drying up, less precipitation, and more water being used by states. You're already seeing tensions and disputes like CO and NE over water rights. I got out while our house was still worth something and will hopefully find a place before the mass climate refugee migration. I didn't want to be stuck with a depreciating house in an increasingly inhospitable environment only to pay even more insane prices in the more climate-insulated parts of the country. Air pollution was surprisingly bad to me, even without the massive wildfires. The crime was also insane, especially catalytic converter and car theft. Our town of 20,000 had weekly posts of people having their vehicles stolen out of their driveway. The storage places were all getting vandalized and RVs getting stolen. I think you're making a wise decision should you move forward. We seriously considered MN as well but my wife's roots are in the PNW and she wanted to be close to family so here we are! As long as you don't mind the winters MN has much to offer.

I hear you. We're in Oregon for many of the same reasons you state. We've been here for over a year with absolutely no regrets. We're renting for at least 9 more months as we have really good lease terms and the market, IMHO, has more correction ahead. There's definite uncertainty in the world and the country. I'm bummed because the last period of general optimism I remember was in the 90s and I was a child. Since then it's been recessions/terrorism/war and economic anxiety. IMHO states such as CA, WA, OR, MN, MA, etc. are more insulated as they are more supportive of democracy, labor rights, etc. For what it's worth I'm glad we didn't buy right away as it allowed us to test a few cities in WA & OR over two years before making the plunge ourselves.

Okay I’m late to this but in Colorado too but we chose to not ever buy here (we couldn’t afford it anyways) and we are moving to Minnesota in a few months due to better job opportunities (strong labor unions for my husbands job) and we also had concerns about climate change in Colorado. But I also feel that sense of uncertainty in the world and in this country and I do fear about taking a long term plunge with buying a house in MN due to these fears.

Last I checked Montana wasn't near a coast or a great lake. But, I was meaning more like ~100 miles from the lakes or the coasts, so also ND, SD, ID, eastern WA and OR, and much of MN. I'm not sure if Iowa is considered "norther", but I'd bet most from there also don't care too much about Canada.

I think unions are bloated and don’t do a lot except take your dollars (depends which location, leadership and company are in the mix). I’ve seen teachers in WI and MN essentially have union power reduced to legal lawyer retainers and most of the old 20-30+ year leverage is gone, more a formality and join so you are protected from easy firings. My dad worked at a UAW plant (non auto) and it’s the lowest paid union in the UAW network. The “my brothers and sisters” stuff is crap. Ford, GM and Stellantis get all the news with Cat and Deere but anything else, UAW doesn’t care. They’re looking for headlines and the huge issue of multiple large scale embezzlements in UAW don’t shine a good light. I can’t speak to the trades or healthcare but the hard bargain days of yesteryear are gone. Again, speak up and get stuff done. That’s the key to any union. I’ve just seen them become more of a formality without much worker benefits through the past decade of multiple contract renewals. Also, union seems to buy into the narrative of oh sucks, times aren’t as good now and this is the best out org can do. Yet the year before things were booming and they’ll pick right back up. Companies move orders and demands at the corporate level so it looks less favorable than gangbusters when negotiations roll around.

I just think it’s wrong for the government to dictate terms. I get that the country would halt but that’s kind of the point. Leverage. MN nurses are striking again, doubt the feds will get involved. I’m not a huge union guy but when you know you’re getting screwed and can organize/strike, get the demands you deserve.

Just be cautious of the PFAS liability. Right now there is no federal level regulation on it. However, 3M has settled in MN and AL with state regulators to the tune of $1B each. If federal regulations come down the line regulating Total Organic Fluoride, it will have a substantial impact on 3Ms chemical division. DuPont divested that entire division of their company to Chemors because of the liability. Just something to be aware of when you see huge options activity. It’s a good company and they are going big into new areas including EVs but the fluoropolymer business will be a thorn in their side for at least the next decade.

Coconut water is $13.76/12pk at sams club now, it was like $10 earlier this year Plus, don’t forget the shrinkflation that they try to trick us with. That being said, kale is $1.50/bundle which doesn’t seem like it’s went up much, maybe it was $1.29-$1.49 before. And i just bought a 3 pack of furnace filters for $11.50, which seems pretty reasonable. Gas here in MN MSP suburb is holding steady at $3.69/gal ($3.27 at sams club), but we seem to be lucky with gas prices

Pretty much reaffirms my thought that GTI is the clear #1 looking forward. FL, CT, VA, MD, MN, NY all areas they can see growth. And it highlights the importance of diversifying markets bc things can change pretty quick from state to state. SSO not looking like a great strategy (right now).

This was in MN. They didn't want to have to pay staff and expenses in stores by being extra an open day. They were operating under the idea that if people just couldn't buy on Sunday, they were just stacking the same volume of purchases on other days. I.E, people were "stocking up." It took a lot of people doing a lot of analysis and research to show them that was not happening, and instead people were simply driving 35 minutes across state lines to Wisconsin where they had Sunday sales - a fact that was immediately evident by simply going to one of those places and seeing how many MN license plates were in the parking lot during even a few casual Sunday visits.

I think every state has something to offer. You have to decide what's important to you. Like, if you want to be not more than a few hours from the mountains AND the beach, VA, NC, SC or GA might be a good choice for you. If you're looking for a hot job market, consider FL or TX. If you're retired, you might want to consider a state that doesn't tax social security or pension income. If you want good fishing, MN, WI, or MI or anywhere on the gulf coast are good choices. Good luck in your future life.

I’ve got to admit, I’ve had a hell of a time finding a job in this market. Wife and I moved to a town in MN after some… upheavals earlier this year because she got a great job. She’s a nurse, so they’re in S tier demand. Meanwhile, I’ve submitted maybe 50 applications and had 2 interviews. Nothing. I honestly couldn’t tell you what I’m doing wrong. Feel like I’m reasonably affable and have a pretty broad and solid resume. Anyway, I’ve been thinking maybe I need to start my own business - but I get stuck there too. Gotta be something with reasonable growth runway but not be something I’d be miserable building up. Honestly been thinking about hydroponic farming. Not a green thumb by any means, but it seems scalable and I’m attracted to the idea of being food self sufficient and in an industry which stands to benefit from climate change. Dunno. Advice, gents?

I went up to northern MN to look at a property for my parents, who were looking to move back home from AZ. When I pulled up i knew it was a Nope, but I had to do due diligence. Inside, I found the floors were warped, the ceilings were warped, the whole place stunk of cigarettes and mold, the bathrooms were of questionable *everything*, the garage was built on about eight inches from the house and had a space that was home to approximately 60,000, wasps, the family room was a ramshackle addition on shady pilings, the septic field was extremely out of spec, and the basement was hewn of rock. Oh, and the Lakeshore view? Yeah actually the access in front of the house across the dirt road belonged to the neighbors, and they were putting up a cabin just to spite the investors. I learned this because I spent a half hour talking to them before my realtor arrived and found out how much a pain these investors had been to them, so far as just wandering into their property and trying to gain access to their buildings thinking it was part of this ramshackle dump, despite obviously being not. While I was there, three car loads of the iNvEsToRs showed up and were talking about a little paint here, some carpet there, it'll be perfect for an AB&B. I drove away laughing, knowing they were going to lose their asses.
