Sorry didn’t say how I value unprofitable stocks lol. So take a really unprofitable one like Origin Materials. If they are unprofitable they are running out of money so you need to figure out how long til they do. This is a cash runway. If they burn $5m a year and have $10m, then you have an idea how long it’ll take (2 years). If they run out, then they need to stock split, sell debt etc. You want to know their operations so you know when they’ll be profitable and try to make sure it’s before the runway ends. For ORGN, they are supposedly going to be profitable before needing funding but that is out of their mouth and they can’t predict the future so they aren’t lying if they aren’t really sure. So you then look at the 10K and read the whole thing. You get quick at skimming and going to sections like Risk Factors etc. Slap it in ChatGPT too. If you need help valuing, use a stock analysis tool like valueinvesting.io or whatever or morningstar. But you need to read books like intelligent investor or buffetology before you go off into the deep end of growth. It requires elementary knowledge.
We have a potential ORGN situation with the plant being built but if they can stay listed warrants might be a good long play. Will keep an eye on them

Come Monday I think I'm going to cut my losses on $ORGN. Such a sad story from a promising company. I'm super into the green conversion of our (in my opinion) worst pollutant: plastic. Maybe some day we might have something groundbreaking that will change how we manufacture plastic goods but it doesn't look like Origin will be the one to do it.
I'm out of ORGN. Premiums from selling CC's over the yearS made about 20% of my total cost basis or another way of looking at it would be that they made back almost 45% of my losses. rip

Definitely ORGN. Thankfully only had a tiny parcel of shares and as such could DCA , it happens. Blindsided most investors with an announcement but still semi optimistic although won't increase any holdings after the first and last DCA until further announcements.

I used to go there every once in awhile to see what the hubbub was on certain tickers, most recently after the $ORGN debacle, but the hubbub isn't even that interesting half the time. It's either gloating that it goes up or laughing at others when it goes down. It's really just a group chat to jerk yourself off when you're right. Lame.
ORGN OCT 1C had over 500 volume yesterday. I had asks at .1 open all day and none hit which means most of them had to have sold at .05. Only 153 volume today but that's 2x gains with ~1 week left. What a gamble!

When I see these as SPACs, it brings a smile to my face, about 10+ years ago I was part of team for a major chemical producer evaluating "green, bio-based / derived, sustainable" technologies companies. We evaluated LANZA, GEVO, ORGN and many others that I forget about until I see them as targets. We only thought one was do-able long-term, Genomatica and I was sad when they pulled their IPO.

Buy some puts since the market is trending downwards Medium high - short term Own SQQQ, buy a beaten down smaller company stock (e.g RKLB, ORGN) Medium- buy a beaten down household name stock: Disney, Target, Dollar General, PayPal Medium low - buy a broad market ETF, buy one of those dividends stocks people rave about (Coca cola? Ford?) Low - get some interest from a cash account and wait to buy after the next hike or 2, buy some TLT after a couple more hikes None - let your cash collect interest and do nothing Pick your poison lol
Yeah I think at this point maybe lost more than I originally gained. Got way into warrants at the end. I do like rocket lab. I like many others am still heavily into ASTS and was ORGN but since that got demolished it’s not so big now. Those 3 are about it besides some very small positions in the LT spec portfolio with Joby, AUR, IONQ, ARBE, LEV, GGR, GWH

My best trades this year were RIVN shares and DIS puts. Seem to always get lucky trading the Q's around Fed announcements. I am adding LEV each time it gets close to $2 and would love to be a long. Trading ARQQ. Watching PSNY thinking it will go down more. Feel you on ORGN that was rough.
Not that anyone cares, but I’ve been getting really lucky with timing the last month or so. Sold DOCN before earnings. Sold off ZS after earnings and rolled it in to PATH which has had a nice earnings bump. Took a small ALUR position and sold 60% up. Pretty much killed off warrantfolio with minimal losses and moved a big chunk to SKIN last week/yesterday. Biggest mistake was selling THRN on initial deal rumor which left 60% on the table, and buying MRVI before their earnings (~20% tax harvest). Did also lose ~20% on ORGN too, but only had 100 shares to keep an eye on so not much $. What moves are you all making/watching?
One of the best recent examples is SVB. CEO dumped $3.6m of stock days before the collapse. And under the trading guidelines he was within the law. Meanwhile hundreds of retail investors were left holding the bag. $ORGN had a similar thing happen before a massive dip right after the CEO announced they were completely changing direction. It’s not uncommon and it’s bullshit but the SEC is spineless.
For a long play, ORGN. The stock tanked after the company announced major delays and costs. But the stock is very cheap, and if the company succeeds at its mission, the stock could be a 100 bagger. I don't own any shares right now, but it's on my watchlist.

Insider selling can never be spun in a positive way. It's either bad or neutral. If a top level executive sold stock in the last year that causes alarm for me personally. I've personally seen companies like $ORGN fall badly after an executive sells. Hard to come up with an example where an insider sold and the stock did well.

haha, I'm in ORGN as well. What a disaster. It seemed so safe. This was the stock where I tried to do it differently, and since i was SO CONFIDENT in it, I bought a ton of LEAPS and OTM calls, like Aug 2024 $15. I bought a LOT of those thinking I was going to get rich, and then exercise the cheap LEAPS and just fucking make bank. Now it just feels like a borderline scam or a bait and switch. I actually think it might go the way of AMRS and just go bankrupt.

I wasn't in ORGN, but I've been in more than a few stocks that elicited the wallstreetbets "Guh" emotion. Watching $10,000s disappear in seconds is truly an unusual, numbing experience. The key is to not rage-trade following that because it will likely make things worse. Speaking from experience. Take a moment and evaluate your portfolio/goals.
