The price target would be correct, maybe, in a few years after a few dilutions and when they turn a profit. The advisors are blindly hopefull this pans out . High target price points , no proven track record . I understand the high target as most companies like this are in the same boat, that target price is a best case scenario if everything goes right. They seem to ignore the true fundamentals and the regulatory battles these companies constantly face . Iβve been holding PACB for years . It just started earning revenue but not turning a profit in a similar sector . Lots of companies in this sector with proven track records earnings money but most go brrrrrrrrer π§
The market cap is so small it definitely could happen, especially with the cash burn and the struggles with growth. They were in talks before with Illumina but they fell through back in 2018. Theres so much competition now in the short-read seq space, that it wouldn't be ridiculous to think that a major biotech company would look to acquire PACB in the future to gain an edge.
Do you think PACB will remain independent and grow or do you see them getting gobbled up on the βcheapβ by a larger entity with a Life Sciences division? Seems like Danaher, Agilent, Thermo Fisher or Teledyne might be watching this one to nab just before or during the inflection point in revenue.
Yeah NTLA had a nice pop today even after the share dilution. I really think biotech is going to do magnificently well esp combined with AI. I've grabbed a few of her other picks from ARKG that I like including PACB
VM what are your thoughts on $PACB?
PACB, CYRX, and HUMA. I strongly believe the future will be more fundamentally genetic (medicine, plastics and textiles from genetically modified organisms, food chain, etc). PACB - dense, full context reads of genetic material at a cheap price point. This has quality control and pipeline integrity all over it. CYRX - anything biological that is transported needs constant temperatures. Big, small, food, custom medicine (read genes - discover preventable - deliver custom tailored meds), applicable everywhere and they are finding more efficient, non liquid nitrogen based methods. HUMA - if it makes it through this year or two, this is the standard of care for vascular tissue (plus scaffolding for all kinds of delivery approaches) with a patent until late 2030s.

Go pump PACB for me so I can dump it. Cathie Wood's special. I have owned it for more than a week. Look at the strength out of the hole today. Got to be ahead of the crowd not behind them.
The main reason is if your covered calls get called and itβs not a retirement account, you have to pay taxes on your gains on the shares too, plus a reset of lot history if you want to buy back in. Share lending on an account can also help gauge short activity/velocity. Example: NEGG was around 1000% short interest for a few months (Aug-Oct), and eventually has cooled down. Shares never went out on loan anecdotally speaking. PACB was very heavily shorted and people got 30+% interest on shares leant. Right now: BYND is in double digits LCID is in double digits NFE is in triple digits All those went immediately on loan upon purchase settling, again anecdotally speaking, and are loaned out from what I heard from people, but these are also bad examples because they are highly speculative/risky.
SONY- itβs beat down and profitable. WMT- gonna blow you away one day with their trillion market cap. PACB- I dunno, cheap leaps and politicians buying it up.

I have heard of it as it was hyped a few years ago because Cathy Wood bought into it , I think, but I never bought it. She just bought PACB which I think does similar things. Some people are buying it because she did. I lost my ass on ARKK and ARKG a few years ago, so I am not following her anymore.
PACB has had the same happen, losing 98.5% of its value since the covid peak. BNGO has last month lost about half its value due to share dilution due to high cash burn and declining sales. This could happen to PACB, but they are in a better position with low debt and increasing sales.
PACB, a unique long read genomics sequencing technology that is considered to be premium by researchers in the life sciences. They have managed to get their reagents and supplies more affordable and are closing the gap with Illumina. What makes them special is that the long reads make genome assembly much easier and as they are longer chunks of DNA versus Illumina which are always 150 bp in length. So complex regions can more easily be assembled. Some exciting news is that South Korea is going to use them for their pan genome project. Downside is they are not yet profitable but improving each quarter and the current state of science in the USA.

Thats disheartening. Thats what's happening to me with PACB today. Ive had this happen way too much the last 2 weeks. Im going to hold everything until im back in the green just out of defiance and stubbornness.

They have a gene analyzing platform, their technique is OGM (others like PACB do long read and short read) and it went from $0.50 to $15.00 in 2020-21 on news that it can find structural variants in genes that could help identify people who would be at elevated risk for COVID and a few other studies got published that pushed it up. They had around 350mil in cash with around 20-30mil cash burn each quarter, but the CEO overpaid for some acquisitions that didnβt add to revenue (revenue was like 5-7mil per quarter) and blew through the cash. Theyβre caught in a RS-and-dilute cycle now just barely hanging on. Source: was long, didnβt profit when I could because I believed in the tech, shorted and made most of my cost basis back
Long-term: CRBU, CBUS, EDIT, PACB. As usual. Short-term: IXHL (as everyone knows), and also TLRY. Earnings next week for TLRY and if Trump Admin announces rescheduling of marijuana to Schedule III, look out.
Okay, I bit man. 641 shares @0.78. Iβm hoping at least one of my Alzheimerβs/Dementia/biotech plays will workout very long term. Currently in $ALZN, $CLLS, $CRBU, $PACB, $SGMO, $TNXP, $UNCY, $VXRT. Now adding $CGTX to that list. All went in for around $500. Some are up, some are down. Likely holding until moon or zero.
Now is the time to get into gene editing. Plenty of companies under 5$ (EDIT, CRBU, CBUS, PACB) that have moonshot potential the MOMENT one of their gene therapies works out. CBUS is already rolling out altered agriculture products and getting paid royalties - a big hitter once people realize how fucked we are when it comes to soil/water/heat conditions next twenty years.

All of them follow the same trend - EDIT, CRBU, NTLA, PACB The "smaller" CRISPR stocks hit higher percentage gains but take bigger beatings, too. The ones I'd be interested in optioning would be EDIT and CRBU. But I'd rather buy the shares outright TBH

Chasing the most overvalued stock in the world can get you gains for sure, but its not a good investing strategy in the long run. For every PLTR investor making gains, theres a PACB investor who bought it at 40, saw it go to 50 in 2 days and thought they were a genius as well.

Why did you not elaborate that this is an odd one hanging out where institutional has no interest in this firm but the lower prop trading houses do, and therefore it's fair to expect the unexpected dark pool impact on it. Yeah, I fell for it hook, line and sinker. Put $10K each in PACB (which was a hot one in one of the ARKs-I forget which one now), then $10K each in ARKK, Q and W. $40K down to $10K. NVDA saved me, $10K up 450% - whew! Sold out of ARKQ about 6 months ago. Going to consider the tax ramifications and probably sell the rest this year and next. Painful.
Yup. I held for about 3 years and then realized losses across about 5 crisper gene therapy companies to reduce taxes on some profits I skimmed. And now I keep wondering whether I should buy back in. I def, 100% believe in growth and social transformation from gene therapy and related areas such as dna sequencing. But do I believe in the power of one (or a small number) of companies to realize profits from it? There Iβm not so sure. Why did you choose CRSP? Why not BEAM? Why not EDIT? Why not NTLA? Why not companies with industry-focused applications (instead of medical) like DNA? Why not sequencing machines like PACB? I personally have never been in a biology lab to use crispr but people tell me it is a pretty straight forward, easy to use mechanism. Not much of a barrier thereβ¦ Could be that the genomic revolution ends up being like the airline revolution - changed the world, for sure, but didnβt necessarily deliver value to investors.
ILMN looking attractive at these prices. PACB, their main competitor is running out of cash fast. TMO isn't putting that much effort into next gen sequencing. It seems like ILMN will be a monopoly for the foreseeable future. We are getting to the point where LLM context length is getting so large that we can fit an entire human genome in the prompt. I'm betting genomic data will be very valuable in the near future. ILMN is the picks and shovels play for this soon to be (hopefully) trend.
