I will delete this thread. I mainly invest in index funds, I have AI and tech stocks. Me asking a simple fucking question about other areas like agritech or industrial that can improve human condition does not mean I will go full SRI or ESG. If i directly asked for agritech or medical devices suggestion I would not have had so much dumb answers

Ok, maybe I am mistaken, but I thought that ESG mainly cares about how a company functions. How does it implement equality in its workforce, care for environmental impact, and have a transparent corporate structure? It is not SRI. I am not sure that companies like EssilorLuxottica (eyesight), Deere & co (agricultural modernization, Stantec (infrastructure resilience), Zimmer Biomet (prosthetics), ... are considered pure ESG companies

[Incannex Reports Positive Topline Results from RePOSA Phase 2 Trial of IHL-42X | Incannex Healthcare](https://ir.incannex.com/news-releases/news-release-details/incannex-reports-positive-topline-results-reposa-phase-2-trial) Sorry promising was my word, what was written here is "Phase 2 trial demonstrated clear statistically and clinically significant improvements." Are you saying that the observed improvements were just bias from the researchers? I am pretty confused, how is an "83% reduction" in sleep apnea actually measured? Are you claiming that this trial is bogus? Also don't worry about "raining" on anything. Some weirdos in stock forums think that if they hype a stock enough it means it will do well. I think today taught them that this isn't really true lol. I genuinely want to learn since biotech is getting talked about a lot and any info to spot sketchy stuff would be super useful. It also doesn't look like they used STOPBANG criteria for the self-report questionnaires? Instead they used "Functional Outcomes of Sleep Questionnaire-10 (FOSQ-10), PROMIS Sleep-Related Impairment 8a (PROMIS-SRI 8a), PROMIS Fatigue 7a, and Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS)." Any light you shed on these questions would really be appreciated!

You can buy the euro. But if you don't know how valuta trading works. My advice, don't do that. You can invest in euronext or eu etfs. If you are rich(I think not), then you can buy euro bonds. Bonds is only interesting when you want a steady return of 4,5 a year. Here are some popular etfs. If you have these you have placed your bets on almost the whole eu market. iShares Core MSCI Europe UCITS ETF (EUR) Vanguard FTSE Developed Europe UCITS ETF (EUR) SPDR S&P Euro Dividend Aristocrats UCITS ETF iShares MSCI Europe SRI UCITS ETF iShares Euro Government Bond 10-25yr UCITS ETF (IBGL)

No, I don't. I am in an All-world ETF that doesn't do ESG inclusion. But I am re-considering this lately, as you can see. Perhaps VanEck Sustainable World ETF, but it's not market cap-weighted and does not exclude fossil fuel. Maybe iShares MSCI World SRI UCITS. The choice depends on your country, your desired exclusions and your broker, I suppose. Honestly, I might just sell it all, pay off my mortgage and hopefully sleep better at night. But that's me.

I’ll give my own few examples: the first time I got some money to invest I put it all in one SRI growth fund. That was just pre 2008. (it was a mistake, though I made the right choice in holding it even when it got to a fraction of the principal I put in. I still hold that fund today, it got sold to another firm that’s managed it well it’s one of my best holdings across all kind of market situations.) More recently, and I have posted about this in this forum, I invested way too much money in the SMBX that has these small and medium business bonds, and five out of the seven companies I had invested in folded and lost everything I had put in

I don’t know what to tell you man. Market Investing in general means that you are investing in publicly traded entities. The billionaire mentality is embedded in all of them. Publicly traded companies care about money. And they will put profits over their people any day and also cater to shareholders rather than their employees. There are very very VERY few outliers. If you are looking to get as far away from those concepts as possible. You may want to consider ESG funds. ESG funds are investments that consider environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. They are also known as socially responsible investments (SRI) or sustainable investments. That’s about as far away as you can get from the greed. It’s not completely away, but as far away as possible.

Also… that being said the company my dad worked for, SRI international, had a robot back in the 1980’s… it’s in the computer history museum in Mountain View now. Not much has changed or grown much since then in all honesty. Theirs was sent down the elevator to pick up visitors and guide them back to their offices. LOL. The server robots kinda look the same…lol. The company is also known for sending some of the first Internet messages via Arpanet and according to “lore” one of the first was sent from Rossitti’s bar, basically inviting everyone at the office to come have a beer…in “code” of course. It was military based technology after all. Some fun photos online with the first engineers at Rossitti’s.

For me, since many companies on the S&P 500 or other index funds are pure concentrated evil, having a basic sense of ethics prevents investing there. I pick individual stocks so I can sleep at night about what I own. (SRI and ESG funds are a joke.) Of course, investing in pure concetrated evil remains a popular strategy, so. 🤷

Are there ETFs that exclude attention-grabbing companies like Meta and Alphabet? I would like to invest in an ETF that doesn't fund the advertising-based companies (Alphabet, Meta etc) which have business models based on exploiting the private information of users (and do extensive profiling, are based on making users addicted to the platforms and have negative effects on mental health of teenagers etc). Is there anything like this in the market? Based on a simple google search, I only found SRI ETFs that exclude nuclear energy, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, armaments and firearms, and/or adult entertainment, but not the behemoths from the attention grabbing industry.

You have at least some overlap there. You have iShares Core MSCI World and Vanguard FTSE All-World. The latter also covers emerging markets, the first one does not. Then you have a separate EM ETF: iShares MSCI EM SRI. So the Vanguard would suffice alone - unless you want the "reduced fossil fuels" stuff. And not sure if it is worth it to have SP500 ETfs. SP500 is already very much present in all world ETFs. No need for a separate one.

According to the Schannep Recession Indicator (SRI), the unemployment rate jumped to 4.0% on 6/7/24, triggering a recession alert. Since 1946, there have been 12 recessions. The SRI spotted all of them. Only 1 false positive in 1959. The average lag from the recession's onset and the signal's date is 1.58 months. #I’ll spell it out for the permabull regards in the back: -The entire pump from April has been predicated on 10 year yields going down -The 10 year is at a massive support level around 4.1-4.2% -If it breaks below, that is a HUGE risk off signal. Stocks go down because…. -The negative correlation between stocks and bonds is restored. Flight to safety pre-recession -If 4.1 holds, yields V shape back to mid 4s or higher. Stocks go down because… -The economy is still too strong. #Either way bulls are fucked. Buy puts Monday.

hello there everyone so i have tried my hand at passive investments via ETFs in an app and letting my bank manage a portion for me. I am down about 10% at the moment (it was 25% at its worst). I have some liquid cash lying around for me to take care of unforeseen circumstances. I am getting annoyed with the passive investments that are not being handled by my bank since they are much better at managing risk and even in their worst times they were only down 3% vs the 25% i was doing myself. My question is, would it be wise to liquidate the app and move it all to the bank and let them handle it ( I am aware that managed portfolios arent really totally secure or much better than just SPY). I would realize 10% of losses at the moment but i don't see myself making the best decisions to improve that much better. I am heavily invested in MSCI World SRI (down 0.24% since buy) and DAX ESG (up 11% since buy). So i am pretty much break-even on the investments that are currently in the market. My biggest fear at the moment is that the current bull run ends rapidly and i am back to the -25% again and unable to make the right decision to either dump these ETFs or move to a better option. sorry for the rant but any input from your side would help

SCHD overlaps VOO, too. Except it's a more concentrated overlap based on one "factor" that's not even considered a mainstream risk factor that would lead to excess returns, and some people have an "irrational" preference for it similar to ESG, which means that many of the criticisms of ESG/SRI investing would apply to dividend seeking as well.

Sorry RSI not SRI ( my bad) Never buy the DIP it is the worst investment habit Always follow the trend Always use trailing stop orders What TA signal made you buy the dip? When I invest I always use TA first and if it looks like a good investment then I look at fundamental analysis if it is any good. When I trade I only focus on TA and I hardly ever look at FA but I follow the news and the competitors. Look at youtube how to use EMA cross overs,SMA,RSI and macd divergences. Just don't buy any of the courses they offer. They are pretty much useless because you can get all the info for free, they have no secrets , it is all common knowledge You can check out channels like traderdna, traderpro, tradeprime, Financial Wisdom . They are all the same covering same TA strategies.

I would not touch options if I were you . This penny stocks have insane moves without the use of options . Weed stocks don't necessary have to go up even if they legalize it in every usa state. It will create more competition and more companies gonna get into weed biznis. Even if you are long term investor focus on TA and use simple indicator like EMA cross overs, SMA, SRI and MACD devergences and traling stop orders . If you use those even on long term basis you gonna see strong sell and buy signal on monthly and weekly charts. I would not trade based on hope.

The SRI fund may underperform in the future but ultimately I would personally (and do) invest in passive funds with ESG/SRI tilts when it comes to long term investments. The reason why you shouldn’t might be due to the need funds in the short-term. For instance, given the Russian/Ukraine conflict you may have seen oli/gas companies and defence (weapon) stocks perform relatively well compared to other stocks in the index. These stocks are often excluded or have a reduced exposure in SRI funds in comparison to those funds that just track the index. Investing in SRI may given you a greater exposure to companies within the index that are better placed to benefit from the risks/opportunities that come with the transition to a net zero economy, migration against climate change, blah blah. Also, while the TER for the SRI is more than double that of the tracker fund, the SRI only needs to outperform the ‘normal’ tracker fund buy 0.13% on average every year to be just as good from a value for money perspective.

The more I try and build my portfolio and the more I read about the subject, the simpler it becomes. Now the complexity is just in 1 very spread low cost ETF. Some options I consider are: Vanguard FTSE all world UCIT etf USD acc iShares MSCI world SRI UCITS ETF EUR iShares AEX UCITS I’m curious whether going in just one is a good idea, and if so, what the best options are. I can invest in most of these without transaction cost through DEGIRO. I live in the NL, and some investments will give me tax on dividends back (which is 15%). However those very same investments have more transaction cost than the other.

The Siri app itself isn't expensive; in fact, it's free to iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch users. The algorithms that make the app work, however, are the product of years of defense-sponsored research at Menlo Park, CA-based SRI International and other institutions that cost taxpayers at least $150 million.

Minor correction, IONQ did not calculate their number. Their number was derived from open-sourced standard created by QED-C which is run by SRI, NIST and with contributions from the Department of Energy. This is who calculated IONQ's performance and amazingly the team's senior member was head of a rival QC company.

I'm new to investing and just want to get started somewhere. I'm 28yo living in the UK. I'm employed but on a low wage. I'm interested in setting up a SRI ETF ISA. I'm looking for a large global fund med/high risk with low fees. My time frame is 10-20 years. I don't have any debt other than a student loan. I have £2000 accessible savings that I'd like to slowly start investing with. I haven't invested before so I'm a little nervous to start. Is there any countries to avoid investing in eg Russia possibly China? What about emerging markets vs developed markets? I've been looking on justetf.com how does everyone else browse for investing? Just want lots of info/ advice really. Thanks

Volatile and high risk, absolutely. It's an emerging economy, and there will be winners and losers. A lot of investors still dismiss green energy as a fringe pursuit. SRI funds are far more comfortable screening out a handful large companies than putting their money on small-cap innovators. Higher share prices boost the sector's credibility, opening the door for equity financing that can decisively close the gap.

I can just count the things i use: For example bond prices, interest rates in all currencies and styles, fx rates, equity prices, spreads,.... They change in fractions of seconds, so realtime support is key. For bond prices for example you can find every single bond that exists, and which banks are providing which prices for what volume. Then of course endless research, news feeds, live feeds of important events,...I guess they provide every public information available. Ratings are very important, nowadays ESG (SRI) ratings,.... Its so much, that you probably need 1 year to really get into it.

SRI isn't for me, I don't mix investing with charity. We could argue whether crypto is a net good for the world, but that's not really relevant to the topic of investment returns. Regarding cash flow though, certain cryptos have cash flows if they succeed. Ethereum takes in revenues through transaction fees, pays actors to secure the network, then distributes the remaining profits to ETH holders in a process that shares some remarkable similarities to a stock buyback.

I was holding on to cash for too long. After the Corona dip in march 2020 I was CONVINCED the market would experience a second much worse drop soon. No idea where this thought came from, I was believing it until the market doubled from the bottom. Which was when everything felt overvalued. And when I realized there is no way to time the market. I am now investing 1200€ every two weeks in two ETFs (MCSI world SRI and MSCI EMU ESG) and I will keep doing that for the next 24 months at least (that’s adds up to how much I was planning to invest in stocks but never did). If my financial situation does not change too much I may be able to keep doing this for the years to come. If I would be earning less in the future (very much possible due to life and reality and stuff) I will adjust my buy rate but I will try to keep buying. I will keep doing this either until I have decided where and when to buy a place/house or until I retire / get sick / suddenly fart and die. No more looking at charts. No more FOMO/FUD. (But also no crazy life changing gains…)

The most invested individual stock is 12% (Befesa) of my portfolio, the othes are less than 4%.

There's r/greeninvesting Another good resource is crueltyfreeinvesting.org I'm big into SRI but don't feel the need to invest only in SRI themes. ESGV is a good ETF. Otherwise just buy companies you can stomach. I wouldn't ever buy Raytheon or Tyson, for example, but I have no problem owning Visa or Google.

I have written a bachelors thesis about Investment barriers with SRI, being "only" a bachelors the research wasn't too extensive, but most of the studies came to the conclusion that SRI really doesn't underperform conventional investments. The main issue is that SRI is often a buzzword and isn't really regulated that well.
