Except it's objectively not true. The 'buttcoin' sub was created on 18 July 2011. If we use the BLX chart, we can see Bitcoin closed that day at $13. Purchasing $1,000 of on that day yielded a total of 76.92 Bitcoin. Today, Bitcoin is more or less $52,000. $52,000 x 76.92 = $3,999,840. Quite the difference.

It was a joke. I mean, I have probabilities and plans for most levels, including that one, but the likeliest bottom is in. Too many people "expect" 13k for it to happen easily. If we hit 13k, it's actually more likely we keep going down than bottom there, and if we break below 13k, we break a bunch of important metrics such that the value of bitcoin itself decreases significantly since potential rewards become MUCH riskier, and that in turn implies further downside. Combined with the liquidity issues already in the sector, potential liquidation prices, miner capitulation, etc... People talk about what a value lower prices would be, without really doing the math. For bitcoin, in this situation, IMHO, a significantly lower price actually DECREASES reward:risk ratio, and increases the probability of truly disastrous scenarios like a supercycle break where when we go back up we top out somewhere between 30k and 90k and when we come back down it is to a lower low than we hit on this round, potentially as low as the 2015 bear market. In fact, the .236 retrace on BLX is at 3k, a surprisingly likely bottom if we break below 13k, and the .382 is at 500, a likely supercycle bottom for 2026/27

On the monthly, on Tradingview, it is roughly 34/35. That's why I gave a ballpark and didn't say it is precisely 38 for sure. If you look at the BLX, it is around that 38 mark. Coinbase is off by a few. Binance on trading view is showing low to mid 30s. Just depends. The monthly should be all in the 30s at the lowest point. A drop from even 30 to 20 is huge. To put it into perspective, the drop from around 48k to 17k we saw was roughly a 25/30-point drop in RSI. So even a ten would be a significant drop. Again, it's all just speculation. If you look at the chart long enough, you can always find something.

There are a few online if you look. To be honest, it looks pretty spot on. There's been more than a few guys (and bitcoin celebrities) who have graphed it out. The discussion was brief. It seemed you either thought this was true or you think there will be a flippening with USD. The 1.618 AB ext (if its an expanding flat) is at 24k. But being in w4 its very well forming a Triangle, in which case in D leg as opposed to a expanding flat. This correction gives me May-August vibes. Also we can see that BLX and S&P500 are on the same drop as in march 2020 when Covid came. The tensions between Russia and Ukraine are the ones driving the price down. Money is made on shorts and longs, we can't drop forever and definitely can't go up forever.

If you look at it that way, I mean on a log scale chart, then gold is a straight line and bitcoin like an arch. What's the point of shorting a thing that's basically flat against USD or most probably go up a little against USD. What you might want is to short the weakest among Gold,BTC,USD (short USD) and be long the best (long BTC), by buying BTC for USD (or futures etc.). Hope that makes sense.

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday! Thought I'd give this sub an update. I mostly post in bitcoinmarkets, since it's smaller and more TA/trading-focused. But recently some have asked me to start posting more in here. Anyway.... I was more confident buying the summer lows, but now I'm not extremely confident on any particular direction. I think we're at a very important moment for cryptocurrency adoption. Things are actually happening, which seems surreal compared with how things were going during the 2018 bear market. For fun, I decided to look at a [couple of scenarios](https://www.tradingview.com/chart/BLX/PQcmkYwt-Crypto-New-Paradigm-VS-Harsh-Regulation/) where Bitcoin and the rest of crypto blows everyone's minds over the coming months. These two scenarios end very differently. The blue scenario assumes accelerated adoption and true reserve currency status. The yellow assumes this is just another bubble (but much bigger this time), and it'll be hammered by a global market meltdown. I also made some speculative charts for a bunch of coins with some "loose" price predictions. That's all they are - speculations. I think it's important to remember that in 2017, some coins literally went 30x in a matter of a few weeks. XLM went from under 1/5th of a cent to almost 7 cents from March till May. Then it went from 1 cent to $0.90 from September - December. NANO (then XRB) went from under $0.10 in early November, to $37 by the end of December, after starting the year under 1 cent. By comparison, SHIB only went a little more than 10x from its recent bottom to the recent peak. In my analysis, I've left out the conservative/mildly disappointing scenario, where Bitcoin doesn't head much higher from here (if at all). Currently my bias is that we won't see much higher, but that's perhaps because my frame of reference is skewed, since I got in during the last bear market. So, even though emotionally I'm feeling a bit bearish, I'm trying to figure out where we really are. As I mentioned above, it's surreal to see so much adoption and acceptance. I can literally beat inflation just by using the Coinbase debit card. Crypto as a new financial system is already working better than the current system in a lot of ways. This is wrong, it's safer buying at 66k when we break ATH than on the dip at 40k. If you don't understand that, you should only buy and hold for years and never trade. I will ask you a question, go to tradingview, go to BLX (which is the chart for BTC/USD pair that has data from back in 2011) and tell me ONE TIME, only ONE TIME, that bitcoin broke ATH and did not go 3x from there, I'll wait. Meanwhile at 40k we could be in a dead cat bounce and go to 10k, nobody knew back then (and those who say "I knew" actually just BELIEVED, not knew) And I'm not saying it will do a 3x from 65k (195k), but a 2x is guaranteed.

I think you are mistaken. Actually, 99% of this data is the full BLX BraveNewCoin Liquid Index exported from TradingView. The data in this chart actually *extends* that data further back in Bitcoin’s history to include the first exchange prices from NewLibertyStandard in October of 2009. Please note, the x-axis is quantity, and in the other chart the x-axis is time. Because of the halvings, time is compressed as you go further to the right.

Thanks, i already use Python/Matplotlib or Apache Spark... Do you have a link to the BLX Dataset please ? Indeed no one will, but some basic algorithm would help a lot to start. It's clearly a combination of many factors, normalized to 1 (so that it is bound between 0 and 1) and colour coded as shades between Blue and Red according to the 0-1 Risk Range.

It's not that complicated. Start learning Matlab and use it to develop the color-coded logarithmic function based on the BLX-Dataset. The colors might be a function based on the X-WMA. You would need to make a few experiments to get it, nobody will know the exact algorithm.

Gox, Coinbase, Bitstamp I think and a few smaller exchanges predate this, and you can pull up the BLX chart that goes all the way back to 09 and see the rally played out over the course of a month and followed the halving event. You're misattributing this news event to an entire bull run, and that's simply not true. I need to use a vpn and trade offshore to access futures, and even then I can't access certain products (xrp, ftt, srm). I also can't buy into any of the IDOs that most of Eu and the rest of the world are able to. You're not saying much bud. The US sucks for traders.

Ticker BLX on Tradingview has a lot of data, chart visualizations, but you may or may not be able to extract the raw data. Not sure I know how. Have you tried the historical data on CMC? That should at least go back to 2013. Maybe further...it's tough to scroll through on mobile (or I'd check it myself).

I would take a look at the ROI graph of the previous ATH from the breakout of the past ATH. It will give you an idea of where we are right now. I actually made an indicator on tradingview to see this. Look for BTC ATH ROI. Use it on the BLX brave new coin liquid index Daily chart. Scroll all the way out and move the chart to 2013 so all the data loads and then go back to the current date.

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. We have not reached anything near mainstream adoption, but we have seen a lot of institutional investment, which is a big step. If you look into the data for the bitcoin cycle, it has become a self fullfilling prophesy. Either you are looking at this year Sept-end of year or - which would be nice - a double top like the one before 2018. Top out, fall down, then rise above. So many people believe in this now, that they also make it happen. ;)

Pull up the long term chart on Tradingview and see for yourself. Ticker = BLX.

The halving cycle? Find the dates of the prior halvings. Look at the long term price chart, logarithmic view (try the BLX ticker on Tradingview). Match them up. Seriously, do your research and be safe. It would be really bad if you lost 80% of your investment value right before your wedding.

its just a logarithmic chart of the BLX on tradingview, that ive been playing on for a month...ill check that other chart out though as well

Very relatable comment chain. Only 2 days ago I was talking with my family about stepping out. This weekend, it looked very tempting to step out when picturing the graph as the peak of a parabole, but my anticipation also said "well, assuming that the [2013:2017 peak ratio](https://www.tradingview.com/chart/BLX/uYKn9Nrx-Bitcoin-longterm-chart/) will repeat itself to some degree, the 2017:2021 peak ratio still has some potential. Maybe not so much for bitcoin but definitely for the alts, AnD i DoN't WaNnA mIsS OuT." Now I take comfort in zooming out to the >1 month charts. And reminding myself that my initial entry was with the intention of hodling at least 5 years. I think I'm gonna take a break and uninstall some apps.

I've put my mum's money in Iconomi BLX. You don't own the keys, but it's a nice crypto index fund and easy to use. Depends a bit on how much she wants to invest. Mine likes it because it's simple yet she still owns a lot of different crypto. More expensive (3% per year) than holding your own crypto though.

go to tradingview and pull up BLX. 2017 bull run retestet 20wma several times. Several 30% drop right to the 20wma and again and again on the way up. But in the 2013 bull run not so. Went from $15 straight up to $250 without touching the line, then the same when it went up to $1100 in the same year. 2011 and 2013 were so agressive they didn't care much for the 20wma.
