The apparent doubling of AstraZeneca (AZN) share price is due to a fundamental change in the type of security being traded in the U.S. as of 2 February 2026. The Old Nasdaq Listing (ADRs): Until 30 January 2026, AstraZeneca traded on the Nasdaq as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs). Under that system, each two ADRs represented only one ordinary share (a 2:1 ratio). This meant the Nasdaq price was effectively half the value of a full ordinary share. The New NYSE Listing (Ordinary Shares): As of 2 February 2026, AstraZeneca has moved to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and upgraded to a direct listing of its ordinary shares. The Price Jump: Because the NYSE listing now represents one full ordinary share (rather than the half-share represented by the old Nasdaq ADRs), the trading price has to reflect the full value of the underlying asset.
Did no one here predict the insane AZN price today after moving to the NYSE? I don't think I've ever seen anything like it

All very interesting and definitely promising cancer technology. Kazia just raised $48.5 million on a PIPE with institutional investors and the proceeds with take them through the second half of 2028 at their projected burn rate (the lost over $20 million last year). What Kazia really needs is the backing of a large pharmaceutical company like BMY/LLY/AZN for not just a credibly factor, but to get some much needed cash so they don’t have to keep diluting their equity. Wishing you profitable investing, Metal
All of these are on FTSE: RR. (partially defence, I'll concede but also engines/SMR), HSBA, AZN, GLEN/RIO (these two are in mergers talks to create the worlds largest mining company), REL (uses AI to improve client analytics). For an exciting small cap: ANIC. It's the only investment vehicle in the world where retail investors can buy into next gen farming e.g. precision fermintation to create protein and palm oil industrially. See r/Agronomics_Investors
The FTSE has some great opportunities: RR, AZN, MKS and RMV among them RMV - Rightmove is the largest UK property website, \~80% market share, 19 P/E, rising FCF and falling debt over the past 5 years, £5mil in debt and £40mil in cash, and rejected a takeover bid with 50% upside in 2024 The UK govt have also just passed a law ending minimum tenancies for renters allowing for a more fluid rental market and more eyeballs on the website
Maybe has something to do with AZN being listed on NYSE soon instead of being an ADR
Yeah AZN been on a tear lately.
THE NASDAQ 100 $QQQ IS REBALANCING Walmart $WMT will replace AstraZeneca $AZN in the index before the markets open on January 20th
It isn't just about past performance - it is about what constitutes both indices. The top weights of SP500 are dominated by high growth companies - the ones that tend to move the indices up. The top weights of VXUS are majority mature companies. You have a company such as Nestle as top weight. Nestle is a great company and would have returned you a small ransom over decades of time. But they are no longer a company that can carry an index. Then you have some banks, big pharma etc - nice returns, but mature and not outsized returns. So my analysis is way beyond simple surface layer. AZN, SAP and NVS aren't outpacing NVDA MSFT AMZN GOOGL META BRKa/b NFLX. VXUS only has TSM as a top weight outsized return.
So anyway Mr. Chin comes in today to set up an account and I load him up with AZN, LID, and SLNT, a bangin port. Now I'm in a meeting with that bitch from HR for some reason, but at least she has some nice hangers amirite?

MSFT, AAPL GOOGL RR. AZN (I have a lot employee shares)
Yep, in for 300 AZN and 350 NVO
I bought some puts on both AZN and NVO. Are you still in or?
AstraZeneca’s $50B push into US manufacturing, kicked off back in July 2025, won’t straight-up kill off Trump’s 100% tariffs on imported drugs hitting Oct 1—but it basically gets AZN off the hook. The rules let companies skip the hit if they’re breaking ground on American plants, and with AZN already digging in Virginia plus ramps up in other states, they’re locking down that huge 40% chunk of US sales. Smart move turning tariff headaches into a win, especially with their UK headaches piling on.
AZN… British Pharma Company ya AZN is literally the single most valuable UK listed company, bar none. You aren’t sitting on a goldmine of undiscovered info here, brother.
Currently I own 300 of the AZN 10/10 70p which is about 6k. I’m planning to put down another 6k on NVO puts, probably 50/51p on the same date at approximately 11am when the premiums are lowest, depending on price movement.

I am curious about $AZN and the big swiss pharma companies. I guess for $PFE it’s a good news?
AZN. Been a little weak lately but I'm in at like 65. Might get more a buck or two lower. Always has a consistent pipeline. Lots of names. And avoids the collapse of the dollar.
I did. We do exist. I am VERY happy with my EU and AZN mix. I am a year or 2 from retirement and felt dollar risks made a rotation of profits taken off MSTR and PLTR could go in VYMI, VXUS and also bought airbus and a few other French , Belgian and German cos. Only regret is Dasty, dassaullt software. That may be a loss harvest this year for taxes.
That's incredible! We need more days like this! While tech is being decimated... other sectors are attracting all the money! Berkshire, AZN, MRK, ... TJX, DOW, UL, ABBV, ...
$1000 into AZN and watch it ride
Bought in on AZN at 70.03 two days ago and is now up 6% in two days looking like it’s only up from here after they announced their plans to move to US
There will be no investment. It’s a press release designed for Trump to get his ‘good news’ 30 second clip. AZN can spin it out for 2 years and then drop because by then Trump will be likely engulfed in some other crisis of his own making.
The area of stupidity and just throwing shit against the wall has peaked. AZN is going to invest $50BN with only $5BN on hand? They gonna take $45B of financing? At what rate when they are competition with debt from the US Govmt and AI taking up even $ of debt available. What guarantee offtake are they going to get to back said debt? Dilute equity by $45B, to serve what markets? I'm sure existing shareholders will be thrilled.
July's been a good month. I mixed some high-risk biotechs with a few safer names and ended up with around a 21% gain overall. PHVS and COGT were the biggest movers for me, with strong gains after their catalysts. I also caught good momentum in RYTM and ELDN. A few micro-cap trades like ADIL and WINT gave quick spikes, which I sold into. The bigger AZN and GSK didn’t move much but helped balance things out. I’m taking profits and stepping back for the rest of July. Done with this month’s volatility and shifting focus to scouting August catalysts. Curious what others are watching and how you're thinking about the next round of PDUFA rally with delayed decision and CRLs
I think although Pfizer pays a nicer dividend, I think AZN has stronger pipeline and growth potential
To buy tomorrow UNH LONG TERM AZN short term (1 month) BRK B Stock 1/2 BUY plus CALL Contract (490) same day (short call) Hopefully , Call is profitable, wait until next dip to invest rest of 1/2 , then call again then TSLA PUT? 295? You’re welcome 😇
You realize the company announced a 1 billion dollar acquisition and partnerships with NVDA, AWS and AZN in the past three days? You have no idea why the ceo is selling but are posting FUD from a 6 month old account. Honestly, I hope you're selling puts because I definitely will.
Gold has been a wonderful play in an actually unexpected but exactly as expected way. We are in uncharted waters with the world order shifting to authoritarianism. Divestment in American stocks is happening. Dollar wobbling in new weird ways. Entering into GLD on last good gold dip has paid me back. Only a lil, I put most of my sold Murican stocks in EU and AZN div growth ETFs. I am afraid to take nice profits on my phys gold because obviously this is also a time you would be nuts to sell cheap into it gold.
So the squeeze occurs when the stock starts to bottom and then change direction. This forces the shorts to buy back stock. So if you want to lower your cost basis, let’s say if you own 100 shares of AZN you buy 100 more shares.
Scooped up some pharma at the start of the rebound. AZN & MRK still a good price even with the leap.
AZN. Healthcare stock based in UK. And it has had tons of good trial data lately.
Potentially yeah. Foreign company stocks might be positioned decently. Maybe something like AZN as well (astrazeneca)
AZN pumping is dumb. Gonna get destroyed by tariff
If you're not shorting these companies for April 2 lib day idk what to tell you AZN FCX GSK BHP RIO NVS WFG SCCO RDY
IBW provides a nice backstop for the company, still not priced in currently due to last MRE report not including gold - I’d say 800-1b market cap is where it should be on IBW alone - AZN will add a nice 1.5b in market cap rapidly once wrapped up on q3
I’ve been long on AZN for the past five years or so and have enjoyed the ride.
The pharma ones I have right now are ABT, AZN and LLY.

So AAPL, VZ, AT$T, AZN, and PFE are tariff/recession proof; got it.
AZN Astrazeneca, don't know why or how. I made a lot recently and happy keeping it or buying more.

Nvo is my worst performer in terms of percentage. glad i only have $17 invested in it. I trimmed my lly around $945 and $830 and sold out hims, ozem, hrtz. i’m currently holding LLY, PFE, MRK, LNTH, AZN, NOVATIS, VERTEX AND NTRA HONESTLY SPEAKING, NONE OF THEM is rewarding except Natera. I chose healthcare to balance out my portfolio but they have been underperforming for last 3 to 4years. Don’t add new money to it. It would take very long to recover . if you have to buy some, buy LNTH, lly, pfe or vertex. Those 4 have signs of recover and they have good dividends. LNTH has for sure bottomed out and has been steadily recovering.. It’s one of my newly added positions. check it out..
AZN is a banger, I like BP & Equinor as well
I've been thinking about european stocks and I feel I will just end up adding to my europe ETF (MEUD). Top 10 Holdings are: NOVO; ASML, SAP, Nestle, Novartis, AZN, Roche, Shell, HSBC, Lvmh. Keep it safe and boring. Thoughts?
CSCO, PLTR, MRVL, CELH, AZN calls
Can’t make that call for you. Still a couple big gaps for AZN to fill so there may be meat left on the bone, but I have no problem taking 100% gains and moving on
I have some ITM AZN calls I bought a few weeks ago up 100%. Should I cash out and grab some MRNA calls? The IV is just much more attractive still on AZN than MRNA.

Idk but I was watching some recorded podcasts over the weekend bc he discussed some of my own holdings and honestly overall gave me a different perspective on bio trading that you don’t really have to swing for blockbusters. Because of him I took up an AZN trade that crossed my mind but I wasn’t seriously entertaining. Now I’ll entertain these ideas more often
AZN has also separately had its own unique issues recently that folks have oversold on in my view.
A lot of pharmaceutical companies are doing badly right now including NVO and AZN.
More slightly OTM July calls on AZN
https://preview.redd.it/060ymb24dx1e1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00937b18bd2c61cbe6ae2dea10e3455fe00300f0 Update: Looking good so far… the more I lose on the covered calls the happier I’ll be :) I also opened a separate $50k $AZN call options position that I might create a separate post for this weekend.
I must be holding the wrong European stocks. NVO, ROG, ASML and AZN are all red.
Holy shit $AZN
>how do people approach the kind of ‘should have bought more’ remorse once a stock pops? I look at investing as more of a skill than random strokes of luck. Those are situations you hopefully learn from. Also, I bought one share of AZN back in the spring and all summer I watched it go up about $20 more than what I bought it for. I felt silly for just buying the one share because there was no point in selling it for an $20 appreciation. It's now down under what I initially bought it for. It's true that you can't time the market, but if you diversify enough, you'll get another chance to invest at lower price points with companies that fluctuate in valuation.
RDDT, VSCO, YETI, HSY, WEN, AZN,HBI, nuclear stocks full sweep
ok. is it time to add some? AZN has great product pipeline. But they are not that much into weight lost area.
> AZN Wondering the same, but I think it is the fear around the China Investigation of the CEO there.
MELI, FIX, ANET, AZN, KNSL, CNSWF (not a penny stock, just canadian)
I took my profit. Taking a more conservative approach with their replacements in my portfolio - added a half position in both AZN and NVS in early trading - AZN had dropped considerably so I hope the lower cost basis will be of benefit. Also VRTX. A bit less safe, but incredible potential.
AZN; NVS; ASML; SPOT; ETN are all in my portfolio. Because they are great companies with great potential. There are a lot of great European companies and there is no reason to ignore them completely. Diversifying across countries is not a bad thing, even if not necessary. Look for good companies in safe countries.
i did a backtest of a portfolio of COP, KO, AZN and D with 25% allocation each vs SP500 using https://testfol.io/ start date is 1993 and end date is today. SP500 portfolio beats the dividend portfolio in total return with a very slight volatility increase. > We don't have to every worry about the cost of senior living when she gets to that point your in-laws got rich because of consistently investing their money and having a pension from a state job. i think they would prob be just a lil richer with a sp500 portfolio. it is also much simpler compared to their 35 stock portfolio + mutual funds.
My late FIL built a massive stock portfolio over time specifically for this point in their lives, unfortunately he passed away in 2017. ETFs didn't exist when it was being built and when they did gain traction mutual funds were still the primary way of life. It has holdings in every sector and is less volatile than the S&P500 because on average it's beta is less than 1. Like, woman holds 458 shares of COP and they bought it in the late 80s. 351 shares of KO bought way back in the day. 262 shares of AZN bought way back in the day. 400 shares of D. These are just 4 examples of her 35 stock holdings, doesn't include her mutual funds or her state retirement. She owns her house outright and she doesn't touch anything that aren't her dividend payments which even then they sit in high earning accounts until she has to pay her electricity bill, etc. Growth is great, but so is her way of life. We don't have to every worry about the cost of senior living when she gets to that point, we can retire early when we combine our portfolios (which are equity growth and ETF heavy) with hers. I'm only 41 and I get to move to part time work in 5 years with just my portfolio. I grew up poor and was completely on my own (and still poor) once I was booted out at 18. I've built a great, stable life and I'm fine with the 7 figures we're already at, don't need to sacrifice that to maybe get to a higher 7 or even 8. Plus, my step kids won't have to worry about us the same way we don't worry about her.
Neither AZN (e.g. Japan or Hong Kong) nor European markets are open yet. Don't believe ~~everything~~ anything that you read here on WSB.
Not sure you should keep AZN. Add PYPL! It s way undervalued and currently breaking out as growth is back again. Consider PLTR but I would buy it slow on this one. Consider adding to NVDA as well
i bought on day of lockdown and picked AZN for the pharma sector 🤷🏼♂️
You bought AZN wanting to buy AMZN didn't you?
Calls on AZN, makers of the most popular schizo drugs. Up 26.7% YTD so far.
