And 30% was never a base, FINRA's maintenance floor is 25% and Reg T initial is 50%, everything above that is a house call that KSS happened to fail.

More of a Wheel horror story. Rumors of a takeover buyout of KSS were pushing up the price from the low 40s to the 60s, so I sold puts short. The takeover fell through, so the stock crashed down to the 20s. I took assignment and wrote CCs trying to recover some of my losses, but the stock kept sinking lower and lower. This went on for months. I never got to the point where I could write a CC at a breakeven strike around 42, it was always far below that price. So I finally gave up and sold the shares for about a $20/share loss.

I use both. For example, there was a rumor of a takeover bid for KSS. Recent price movement (chart momentum) aligned with the rumor. Volatility was also on the rise, making a bullish credit play look favorable. Stock analyst reports on KSS also favored a takeover. So I shorted KSS puts. Per week I'd say anything between 20 minutes to 4 hours, depending on what the opportunity was. Things that requires a lot of research into fundamentals or doing volatility forecasts take the most time/effort. Other things, like the run on Silicon Valley Bank being the first domino in a bear trend on regional banks (long puts), don't take much time at all.

KSS, but because I couldn’t take profit. During its squeeze last year, I bought way OTM monthlies. It was clearly mooning pre-market, but I was out running errands and about to go on a run. I barely have cell reception in some areas around my town. That shit literally 50x’d in 15 minutes. It was life changing money, and then they halted several times. Robinhood was glitching and I couldn’t even set a sell order. I ended making some decent money, but nowhere close to its top. I could’ve paid off my house and student loans. GAY.

$KSS Strong financials, beaten down to a low of $6 last year because of their decline in sales and CEO switching every quarter. I think they have a clear bullish direction from here. They will have price swings as consumer sentiment fluctuates but their assets really make the case for me. They currently have a short float of 27% which is a bit lower than last year where the short float was around 44%. This tells me sentiment is finally shifting. If you were able to pick up some shares as low as $12-$14 on the recent dip I think it’s gonna pay off well in the next few years. Could be wrong though 🤷🏾♂️
It will need 10m shares traded to show signs of squeezing. The day SPRT squeezed it traded roughly 3x the float, the small KSS squeeze last year traded around 100m shares that day. The 23rd had above their average volume, but I wouldn't call it "huge". But it does look that way on a chart.
