MCHP Stock Sentiment Hi all. I just picked up 100 shares of MCHP stock. Seems like a forgotten about Semiconductor stock since it makes boring, non flashy, yet essential compute components. Massively high P/E, but more modest forward. Anyone own this, or have any thoughts on MCHP? Thanks everyone. This is my only Semi/AI position at the moment.

You have to be far more right with 7DTE than 90-120DTE vs 1-2yr. Set exit targets and execute them if you are wrong. I exited ON because the the chop/semi-rotation. It was supported 2 weeks ago when I bought it, but it depends upon semi momentum…..it dropped below my stop/invalidation target and I sold it. I’m watching MCHP which hasn’t breached my threshold

Yes and every semi stock this past year has been bought up with QCOM being the one lagging lol. There is news around the data center chip, but pick any semi stock out of a hat that look to the YTD gains. Like SIMO for example, up 118% YTD. ON is up 77%, ADI is up 47%, MCHP 41%. TXN is up 56%. All the semi names are being bought at this point due to some of the recovery in industrial and investors looking at how inference works. Like ON for example is a power chip. QCOM is only up 7% YTD and is catching bids are investors are looking for all names in the space.

I only looked at one of your stocks, MCHP. For you to be holding $70 call options with 4/17 expiration is mind boggling. Just look back at the chart to August - October of 2025. See that massive range from $59.50-70? Notice that price is currently sitting in that range? That should tip you off that a $70 call option not only means the price has to break back above that previous range, but it has to go far enough over it to cover the cost of the option, and it has to do this within the next month... Does that seem highly likely to you? That previous range also means there's a good possibility that price at least attempts to hit $59.50-$61 before any rally; and low and behold, look at where price currently is... However, there's also a gap from early December between $57-$59, where the current price is close enough to make an attempt at. Gaps act as magnets, so you need to be aware of them as they could pull price down even further with price already at around $61. Next, draw the trend line in from the April and November '25 lows and extend it out. That would be a potentially be good strong trend line to buy off of. Notice how the gap could be hit and still hold that line? Gaps, either side of it, can also be used as major support or resistance levels. Now draw the trend line connecting the tops of December '24, July '25, and February '26. There's a potential longer term target if price bounces off that bottom trend line and starts to rally hard. Further, you have what looks like a potential H&S pattern that's confirming, which means price could snap down before it rallies, and if price does rally, it may only rally back to the neckline. Nothing about the current chart/price is bullish or showing a bottoming signal. This week, price was forming a potential bear flag, so you seem to have held onto that call option without considering that if that bear flag breaks down, your call is likely going to $0 unless you sell it off and take the loss. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ I actually am expecting a rally over the next month before the start of another correction down, but a rally only AFTER the market puts in a temporary bottom from the current correction. No, you don't need to pick the bottom to make money. Wait for the market to show signs that its bottomed and is heading into a rally. From the bottom, look for what's a realistic target. $70 is not realistic. Anything's possible, but why pick that particular price?

Got in for 325 shares at ~29.55 avg specifically to swing on earnings, post market looking strong up 7% and the revenue beat after the last 2 lackluster quarters seems like a great green flag. Not sure if I’m gonna sell out tomorrow for a quick buck or hold for a bit, see how the mommentum is in the morning, but with much higher sales and revenue compared to their slump if they maintain this trajectory they could regain a lot of their recently lost value. I’m not to worried about their falling margin when they had such a huge revenue beat, they’re obviously still making money even if theres increased competition. Looking into MCHP for Thursday earnings on similar logic to why I got in here, I expect them to also have great quarterly results

MOBX - one of the cheapest Defense stocks there is at the moment. If Peraso accepts the merger - MOBX should fly. The company's pricipals previously developed Microsemi and sold it to MCHP for a cool 10B. And they are back now... trying to do it again with MOBX. Its a good bus to ride on. The decisive actions we have taken under our nine-point-plan are enhancing our operational capabilities through more efficient manufacturing, improving inventory management, and a renewed strategic focus. As we move forward from a challenging fiscal year, we believe Microchip is better positioned to capitalize on growth opportunities as market conditions evolve." Mr. Sanghi added, "A key highlight this quarter has been our inventory reduction strategy, with overall inventory dollars down $62.8 million, distribution inventory days reduced by 4 days to 33 days, and inventory days on our balance sheet decreased by 15 days from levels at December 31, 2024. We expect even more substantial inventory reduction in the June quarter as our manufacturing optimization actions are near completion."

How attractive are they really though? In the last year, they have all been crashing down/remained steady. Nothing stellar. In the last 1 year: -10% for TXN -4% for IFNNY -21% for SK -50% for MCHP -34% for COHR -37% for ROHCY (last 6 months) -43% for ON -43% for STM -86% for WOLF. So to your point the Market Capitalisation of Wolfspeed did crash the most. So yes it is the "worst" BUT momentarily only. One could argue that once WOLF's factories are running AND the overall down cycle for ALL SiC semis is finished, then WOLF's stock has the greatest upside potential, which is exactly what I am looking for as an investor. Why would I want to park my money in some stocks with no upside? My point being that one should really invest outside of SiC semiconductors right now; as a whole, these companies are all in a down cycle. But if you want to prepare the next cycle (as we can all expect an inevitable push towards electrification), I can't see how you would argue against WOLF's upside potential. Again I'd be curious to know why you expect these other companies to be better stocks to invest into?

I was long on MCHP calls and took a 18% drawdown in one day, BUT I was holding a diversified portfolio and hedged with semiconductors ETFs puts which made hedging easier even after the overnight crash. Next time diversify and hedge your risk with broad market assets that have exposure to your stock ( in your case consumer discretionary sector). It will slow down losses but it wont prevent you from taking losses I’m still very much in the red but I’m alive to fight another day. I’ve lost everything too and the recovery is steep but you have learned am expensive lesson. Don’t do it again and stay humble

Consider a large tech allocation to $META, $GOG, and $AMZN right now. All three have cheap valuations versus what they have been guiding to for the next quarter. Plus the stock sell off has gotten too extreme. We had the worst UMICH data I’ve ever seen and we had one of the biggest bounces in years. In the edges, consider $MCHP. A large cap name that trades countercyclical. In the worst of the sell off this name traded flat. For some all weather protection, consider trading $WMT. High p/e but this stock offers the greatest prices in groceries right now. Inflation will drive more consumers here vs other grocery stores. Avoid energy, consumer staples. This have been overbought and will underperform as economic growth is better than most expect. SPY and IEF (10year UST) will be your friend here for diversification benefits. Don’t listen to sheep on this subreddit to do all equities.

TL;DR MCHP calls

Mentions:#MCHP
•r/wallstreetbetsSee Comment

Tried posting a full DD but one of the mods on here must be some jilted ex or something bc every post I make gets taken down regardless of how in line it is with their guidelines. Here is the short version for MCHP. MCHP is currently trading at 38% below their intrinsic value (hard to find in the semiconductor sector). They were willing to put on hold a govt grant (chips act) in order to not bite off more than they could chew amid a short term decrease in demand. Once they resume expansion and receive the grant I believe it will launch the price back into $80+ range. They also shut down one of their facilities (Arizona) because the new ceo realized it was a money pit and they could easily expand their main Oregon facility to produce the same results for a fraction of the cost. The company already has seen a massive price drop amid all this news which imo is just a responsible and clearly capable ceo (Steve Sanghi, look him up to see for yourself) that took over as interim and is steering the company into a balance sheet the old management could only dream of. Also he has joined the board of directors in Intel as of December so a merger/buyout may also be on the table. All that said I’m a full blown regard that thought of this play -15% ago and have been raging about it ever since. As of now buying more, going long with a PT set for triple digits. Yea yea I know I’ll be seeing you all behind the Wendy’s dumpster, say hi to my wife.

Other than companies that deal with AI compute, semi's in general have seen basically like a bear market for the past year or so. The industrial and auto markets still haven't bottomed yet. Here's like an example from TXN: >Speaking on a conference call after delivering third-quarter results, Ilan said that three of TI’s main markets have already begun to rebound, but its biggest sales sources — industrial and automotive chips — are still suffering from a glut of inventory. >“We really need the broad industrial market and the automotive market to join,” he said. When asked to predict a rebound he replied, “It’s about time, but we haven’t seen it yet.” Also some analog chips like MCHP are still struggling: > "With inventory levels high and having ample capacity in place, we have decided to shut down our Tempe wafer fabrication facility that we refer to as Fab 2. Many of the process technologies that run in Fab 2 also run in our Oregon and Colorado factories, which both have ample clean room space for expansion. We expect to be able to shut down Fab 2 in the September 2025 quarter at which time we expect that it will generate annual cash savings of approximately $90 million. Due to the high inventory of the products which are manufactured in Fab 2, we do not expect to see P&L savings from the shutdown until the start of the June 2026 quarter based on a First-In First-Out basis. Personally, the equipment makers are looking pretty cheap, only you want to take a position in the long term. It's possible that some of these markets can bottom out in like Q1 or Q2 next year, but I expect still some pain and sideways action for the short to mid term. However, long term, there is some great buys out there.

If you bought into them because they were financially sound, then just leave them alone if you can sell covered calls...but the caveat is that you have to be absolutely sure that the companies aren't in some fundamental way worse off than when you invested in them - Have any of the companies been affected by fundamental news or development? - Are any of the companies having their moat/business model threatened by newer competitors and/or new technology? No offence but the fact that you have no idea what the 4th company you listed does is worrying...because that casts some doubt when you make the assertion/judgment that these 4 companies are financially steady...if you are positive about their business model and financial state, then just sell covered calls One thing to remember with the semicon industry is that it is very cyclical...look at the year to date performance of the Van Eck Semiconductor ETF SMH chart...it doesn't look appealing at all...and these are for US companies so I can imagine it would be worse for Asian companies If you've kept track of major chip players like hynix and Samsung, you'll know that they've received downgrades from Morgan Stanley because semis are entering a down cycle...like their US counterparts, their stock prices may not have been affected because they are more prominent...but if you look objectively at even the US semi stocks, there are only a few that are performing extremely well (NVDA, TSM etc)...a lot of the lesser known semi stocks aren't doing well at all...for example, I've got puts in MCHP and they just hit a 52 week low...even the last few days of trading, semi stocks have been weak...and even AMD just announced layoffs for 4% of their workforce So yeah...if things aren't rosy in the US for semis overall, then I can't imagine they would be any better in SG...but just ride it out to the next up cycle and sell covered calls in the meantime...and with the 90% that you are saving from your income, start investing every dollar in US stocks...never invest in non-US stock markets again

"Our September quarter results were consistent with our guidance, as we continued to navigate through an inventory correction that's occurring in the midst of macro weakness for many manufacturing businesses, accentuated by heightened weakness in our European business which is concentrated with Industrial and Automotive customers," said Ganesh Moorthy, president and CEO. "The 'green shoots' we saw in recent quarters have progressed unevenly with essentially flat sequential bookings, normalized cancellation rates and much higher expedite requests, which we believe are all positive signs for a potential bottom formation despite limited visibility." More bad auto/industrial news.

I have a few that have been solid compounders over a long period of time and I see no reason that shouldn't continue: $TXN/ADI/MCHP - kind of interchangeable, fundamental players in the new digital world $TMO - the foundational player in the life sciences and therefore the pharmaceutical industry $IQV - the leading clinical research organization with a vast trove of data that differentiates them from competitors $APH - an unsung networking juggernaut, continues to chug along $KEYS - a foundational company for telecommunications infrastructure worldwide, increasingly becoming more important in software

If you're willing to buy INTC, be ready to see underperformance till at least 2027. Foundries are set to be finished by 2025 which everyone should know that big operations like this are often delayed even beyond the longest estimates. Now assuming the foundries are finished by mid 26 to 27. They still have to optimize the new fabs which will inherently take that to probably 2028. Again assuming everything goes more or less according to plan. And that's only the foundry side. Which has some disgustingly low margins. In the chip designing market they are at least 2-3 cycles behind NVDA, AMD, ARM, QCOM, Marvell and Broadcom. Even if the government favours intel before let's say any of these companies usually government margins are quite low. If INTC downgrades to producing IoT chips they will compete with another stack of companies like TXN, LSCC, MPWR, MCHP, etc etc etc. So if you wanna play the INTC game it's probably better to wait till 2027 IMO

TSM; Samsung; SK Hynix; MU; TXN; GFS; ENTG; MCHP and several other semiconductor IDMs and fabs have been awarded CHIPS Act Spending. Unlike INTC, most of these companies have a more impressive history of using funds efficiently and effectively. INTC isn't benefiting much more from CHIPS Act than many others - and because it is further behind, with larger ambitions than, TSMC and Samsung it is facing higher Capex just to begin to catch up - except both those companies are also receiving CHIPS Act spending. The EU and Japan are also pouring money into all these companies - and TSMC is again favored.

There are a few reasons why Astera is in a precarious position. PCIE Gen6 will be pivotal for them. As MCHP, Broadcom, and multiple Taiwan start-ups caught up to the same development timeline with viable retimers leveraging their Gen5 learnings. Hope that Astera succeeds though.

kinda agree. Chips might take it on the chin, somewhat, since INTC and MCHP reported and are down - but after all this selling already, I think there's some likelihood that the market will view the downdrafts as company-specific. AMD reported and did okay - given it's very high forward valuation and low moat in a fear-leaning market, I'd say that's to be expected. Especially now the market understands that AMD just continues to take market share from Intel. Microchip, too, is pretty specific because it's cycle was sooooo extended, it's still very much in the bottoming stage. It was expected that this quarter was going to be pretty bad and anything but a conservative guide would've been out of character for them.

TSM beat earnings - what are you talking about. INTC = X86 is dead - what are you talking about. AMD beat and the stock will start heading up soon. MCHP? what the f\*\*\* is that? How about, QCOM beat on stronger high end smartphone sales. +12% off the quarter - this is a direct ARM purchaser. Also, TSM had an offset from AUTO (but bet you're still buying TSLA) however stated AI was stronger than anticipated. Also, Samsung reported strong phone sales especially high-end. I don't know where your analysis is pointing to.
