I owned $4 of MindMed (MNMD). I was charged $38 for a “reorganization fee”. I called the E-Trade customer service line and they explained companies can do this when their stock is tanking. Thankfully I begged her to cancel out the fee so E-Trade is covering the cost. Complete bullshit.

If you want to capture big moves like you've been chasing, you have to buy it before everyone starts hyping it. That takes time for research and a willingness to sit through months or years of pain before the big move happens. That way, you can be the person buying RKLB at $4, not at $70. If you want to make steady, reliable money through consistent small steps upward, buy ETFs. This is the best and most efficient choice for most people. If you want to speculate, don't chase other people's winning stocks. Find your own, and buy them when there isn't much hype. I put 90% of my deposits into a wealthfront account that is all ETFs. The other 10% go to a schwab account where I speculate. Been in RKLB since $6 and MNMD since $7. RKLB has done its big move and imo I wouldn't open a position until it has calmed down a good bit MNMD is on its way up, but it I doubt it will ever be sub-$10 again. I have been following both of those since 2022 and 2020, though, and they have taken a lot of research time and pain in those years. The financial rewards have made it worthwhile, but it still took time, discipline, and self-restraint.

The company was not created to become a wsb meme, if that needs clarification. Stock is up 140% for the year at $$17 a share, which is not too bad for a pre revenue biotech. Breakthrough therapy designation, phase 3 trials, readouts starting in Q2 2026 They are posting new jobs and gearing up for commercialization or possibly being acquired 45%% institutional ownership, including pension funds, 16 analysts following the stock with pt as high as $60

For me, 2020 is about when I figured I needed to figure out "how to finance." My parents were/are very much a "work hard, put your money in the bank" mindset (which to be clear is likely the reason that I could take the risks that I took), but they didn't really know much more beyond that, so I went on an aggressive learning journey. This timed well to when brokers started to go commission free trades as well as the minor "crash" in March 2020 in the stock market which got me really interested in investing in general. # The 2020 Sectors I picked six sectors/themes that I thought were really likely to grow because they were important or sharply redefined the way we would do things as a society: space, quantum computing, nuclear, psychedelics, vertical farming and crypto. I set a long time horizon for this meaning that I knew I was going to see a lot of swings and change takes time. Things can move very slowly and then very quickly. I didn't really want to (not then at least and still really not now) be daytrading up and down percentile points for intraday swings and then just miss out on the lion's share. # The Results of the 2020 Sectors (If people are interested, I'll provide rationales of why for each sector, but be prepared for a non-trivial amount of half-bakedness.) Psychedelics (MNMD) and vertical farming (AeroFarms), I was too early on and I think every option I picked failed, but also like...every public option pretty much. Nuclear, I went with the direct uranium exposure in SRUUF and...that like just never moved (which really did surprise me given. Crypto, I wasn't sure if I really wanted to just hold the coins themselves vs buying into an exchange (Bullish), but that SPAC ultimately just never worked out (....until a few months ago when it went public normally -.-). Quantum I feel like I did well in overall (IONQ, QBTS), but I didn't really hold as much on. And for space (RKLB\*, PL) well...we've kinda heard how those has been going. \*I will be very honest. One of the biggest reasons I started following RKLB was not because it was the most innovated, the best financials, or ahead of the game. It's because[ Peter Beck ate the hat and that is the exact kind of leader that I would want to be](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agqxJw5ISdk&t=189s).\* # Overall thoughts: I think the biggest thing that I've found is luck honestly. I could have picked Astra instead of RKLB and lost everything. I could have held PLTR and be up insanely. I could have not written a call against my GME shares \_the one week when it randomly spiked up last year and my shares got called away -.-\_ but when these companies are so new...it really is hard to see where they are going/if they're going to make it, but the asymmetrical risk makes it worth considering making a move. I have sold out of things that immediately spiked and bought into things that have crashed. AMC was an expensive, \_expensive\_ lesson in risk management, but I think it taught me some thing really important (not risk management however -.-) : you absolutely have no idea what the market will do on a day to day basis and you have no control over it. Unless you really want to be glued to a screen looking at ticks or you develop an algo that \_really\_ somehow breaks the edge that the 800 pound gorillas (Citadel, Virtua) in the room have (who naturally will burn more money in one day than many of us will ever see in a lifetime to screw over another hedge fund), I personally don't know if I recommend trying to "optimize" positions by buying and selling in short time spans. Pick sectors you would want to follow naturally. Alpha is ubiquitous, its not confined to AI, space, or whatever is trending in the moment. Find the things that you find cool in the world, things that you wish were better and find companies try to bridge that gap and research those. You might find that your approach is totally wrong, but you also might find someone has already laid out the groundwork to validate your thesis and this is the move. this is already too many words. hopefully there's something useful and it's not all just inane drivel.

This is a loooong list of spec stuff. Hopefully this isn't your whole portfolio. I have a little bit of MNMD and plan to hold it into the new year to see what happens with it. DRS doesn't scare me and I am super bullish on space, but I would personally sell that and just pick up RKLB the next day it dips. I'm also bullish on quantum computing but I've mainly been re-loading IONQ after taking profits on it a few months ago.

Yes, with ATAI and MNMD recently. Jumped into those way too early, and was down at least 70% at some points, but walked away with a 25% ROI after a few years.
In case you were wondering why MNMD is up almost 2% today its because I am trying to close my $11 covered calls.
Going on gut feelings works 100%, until it doesn't and you're portfolio is gone, It's like trading 0DTE or penny stocks you enter when It's already up 200% for the day . Wild swings but you just tolerate it because you don't know any better, and you often end up on top. The problem is, just like with 0DTE, that when you lose, you lose big. Ideally, one gets lucky swinging in the dark enough to build a sizeable portfolio, then they start paying more attention, However, it seems more often than not people need to blow a few accounts before they consider switching strategies. I looked at my portfolio, and no. I think the vast majority of products and services, especially from public companies, aren't very useful. The only exception is $V; they offer a useful service, but I think they're predatory. I also hold $MNMD due to personal convictions, but I have never used their services.

I am sorry to say this, but since this is a stock market post. I was always told there are ways to make money during the world falling apart. I live in Appalachia, you know, where this type of shit affects a lot of these folks. Farmers, workers, small ag business, repair shops, etc. You can short DE and go long on ATAI and MNMD. I say this because the mental health of families is falling horribly in these areas. I have been seeing billboards for JNJ's Spravato in our area and that is a 1.7B blockbuster drug for which those other two I mentioned are going after. I will tell you this these is a need for new mental health treatments due to this shit. The ripple effect is crazy.
Trimming REITs (office space is already empty and a recession (caused by Ai and national and geopolitical turmoil) will drive more traditional companies with office space into bankruptcy and cause them to default on their lease -- I hope I'm wrong). This is exactly why I put money on MNMD and ATAI they are playing in a space where you need to synthetically create and clinically administer these drugs. Mushrooms are going to be a commodity like cannabis, LSD and DMT are on a whole other level. You're not legalizing that stuff - they will reschedule and develop drugs. MNMD did trials with Cleveland Clinic, that's seems good enough of a partner for me. ATAI founder is well connected and backed. One of those two will be bought out or partnered within 6-10 months.
Most of them are crap. ATAI, MNMD and CMPS will be the horses here. ATAI never went through its cycle. MNMD was shit until the new CEO took over, CMPS only because CYBN is a joke.
July 2024 got into ASTS, OKLO, RKLB, QBTS will continue to add monthly and plan to hold. Made some quick returns on defence stocks, don’t hold any now. Offloaded PLTR, MNMD, ACHR, ALT and NVDA along the way. ENVX is my newest investment interest.

MNMD or ATAI with their BioPharm stuff. MNMD got a breakthrough therapy designation for Generalized Anxiety Disorder on their MM120 drug from the FDA not long ago and was already working with consultants on how to approach their phases. And now, the FDA just changed their ways and said that instead of just telling companies they failed the phases/tests/approval, they are now telling them EXACTLY why they failed. So, in the terms of these BioPharm companies that have been working to get their drugs approved and to the market, they know will have sufficient information to go back on should they fail in their approvals. MNMD seems to be the champion here right now as their growth is actually not too bad for a company with no drugs to the market just yet. There have been expansions in the company's size, they have worked with consultants from the FDA, from a variety of healthcare industry leaders, and also Big Pharm companies. ATAI is a similar company, using a different compound for GAD and social anxiety. However as of now I think they are in the process of phase 2, where as MNMD is in phase 3 with one pipeline and almost done 2 with another. I'm sure these 2 have been tossed around in the likes of Compass (CMPS) and Cybin Inc (CYBN) although I think CYBN might be out of the picture and working on patents in England last I heard? Don't quote me. I have really been watching MNMD for years and more recently paid attention to ATAI. I think this sector is getting a ton of attention now with veterans speaking out of their experiences with psychoactives and therapy. The government is loosening up it's grip and is seeing this as an industry. Both are cheap enough to get a few shares, stash, see what they move like and evaluate your position in a year.
