Short Term Bet (Failure) PII (Polaris) on a Q1 Earnings Crush

Extension doesn't mean they can't start PII before september, it means that patients wanted to continue the drug (80% of those enrolled in the trial - 15 out of 19). That's pretty positive, means most patients didn't have bad enough negative side effects to make them want to stop. I believe this means they're eschewing other treatment options while the trial continues (but correct me if I'm wrong) which would indicate they feel the drug is having a net positive effect. Clinical team will monitor ths group on the 1B rubric - which is primarily focused on "is this pill safe to take regularly" but may also track symptomatic data. However, even improvements are not worth much without a true double blind placebo trial. For investors, the stock is still as risky as any 1B / PII drug company would be. Lots of them fail in this process. Not a sure bet. For GANX today, I think people were expecting to see anecdotes of widespread symptomatic improvement in this trial report. Frankly, unrealistic. What we got instead was the encouraging data that the drug \*may be\* on the right track with reducing GluSph. I remain cautiously optimistic and still invested.

Since before. The Soviets began active operations targeting the US in the early 1920s. They figured that the US was ripe for a Marxist-Leninist revolution given the large number of industrial workers, inequality (think the robber baron era) and so on. Though the US did not go that way, the Soviets continued their activities. After the collapse of the Soviet Union the Russians didn’t stop but have actually increased their efforts. Americans, unfortunately, became complacent in their victory and their enemies have taken incredible advantage of the situation. The Russians and Chinese have taken advantage of every technical advancement available to infiltrate American society, media, information streams and more. The computing power available combined with all the data/cookies/tracking/algorithms that are inseparable from modern life affords the enemy to personally tailor messages, stories and so on. We are witnessing the efficacy of their efforts every day. The inability of American society to develop a coherent response to foreign enemies, to label the enemy as an “enemy” riles significant portions of the citizenry as racist, bigoted, war mongering and so on. We can point out explicit statements that Putin, Xi and their officials have made and still folks won’t accept reality. We can look to admirals, generals, senators and others who are raising the alarm and still nothing. The Chinese are building a navy explicitly intended to defeat the US Navy. There is no secret about it. None. They say it out loud, in print, on poster boards. Beijing has been explicit in their goal to supplant the US and the current world order, to again carve the planet into spheres of influence with themselves as the sole global economic, industrial and technological superpower. Beijing has been explicit in seizing territory of neighbors, of attacking coast guard, fishing and other commercial vessels and even military assets of neighbors. In the meantime the US has been unable to successfully field a new class of surface combatants in nearly 40 years. The LCS, Zumwalt and Constellation are all failures. The number of support ships has declined; only two fast combat support ships remain in service. They alone are able to keep pace with the carrier strike groups. The bases are a damned mess as well; grass is knee high, windows broken, buildings crumbling. It is unreal when compared to how things were 20, 30 and 40 years ago. Absolutely unreal. China has even been kidnapping its citizens in the US when it is believed they have stepped out of line. Russia has assassinated dissidents in England using radiological and other means. And still we hesitate. I have a company that works with AI and earlier this year we launched our website. We are able to see where the attacks are coming from, who is attempting to steal our work. Before I worked for a large company in my state that did business with defense firms. The company published, via spreadsheet, the names and other PII for people working with the defense firms including the programs they are on. We are talking TSCI information. And it was published to everyone, sent to offshore partners every day. I brought it up, was demoted, brought it up again and was fired. Now the Feds have to deal with it. We are not serious. We have got to get fucking serious. Or we can kiss our asses goodbye.

In Europe, Azure often wins on enterprise and data residency thanks to the EU Data Boundary and tight M365/Entra integration, but AWS still has the deepest service catalog; pick based on workload and sovereignty needs. If you’re .NET-heavy, Azure’s Managed Identity, App Service, and SQL DB make life easy. If you want breadth and multi-country scale, AWS in EU regions with customer-managed keys or external key manager keeps most data local, and the announced European Sovereign Cloud targets Schrems II worries. To avoid US vendors, OVHcloud, Hetzner, and Exoscale work, but you’ll give up some managed services; common pattern is keep PII with an EU provider and run anonymized analytics in AWS/Azure. We’ve used Cloudflare R2 for EU egress control and AWS DataSync for bulk moves, and DreamFactory to safely expose on‑prem SQL as REST to cloud apps. Bottom line: in Europe, Azure fits MS stacks and compliance checklists; AWS wins on range and scale.

Many things going on 1. AI hype is all based on the huge premise of massive labor force reduction, the issue is most of these llms can’t really materially impact in a positive way labor force, most use case people try to cramp ai into broken processes and they get awful results 2. Costs to train and operate this model are frankly so high and the roi so low that is pretty much not a viable product 3. Most of the things that people do with these models and that they get roughly ok are either super superficial or easy, and the way to make them better is throw more compute/data into them for the most part 4. You can’t reliably replace anything with this without extensive evaluation pipelines and such, and the whole premise of temperature and such make it super hard, is like a typical classification or regression evaluation pipeline but 1000 times worst and more costly 5. AGI is a dumb concept they won’t achieve, they need to disprove a bunch of math laws to even start talking about that, and an AGI is not only being “smarter” than a human, it also relates to efficiency, the whole dumbness of talking about AGI and wasting more effort and energy than a whole city is a paradox on itself 6. These companies are pretty much draining capital and burning it, Open Ai with 5% conversion rates and running at a loss of about 30B I believe without considering capex and has no path to profitability, they have they whole invest 10x more to get 2x more profit, seems like a Ponzi scheme to me 7. All this data for training was obtained violating a bunch of laws, so beware that Europe and other countries will fall down on you with an hammer, especially when these things start to leak stuff and have PII info, doent forget all these companies atm are in violation of GDPR for example 😂 The tech is ok, it is probably 1% as good as those guys are claiming it to be, useful for very niche use cases, but the market valuation is insane, the total market for this is probably around 20-50B max If I look back into GBT 2 compared to 5, it is the same crap tbh, it seems smarter, but it is just a search engine fast spitter, and a bit more aligned than 3 years ago, but can’t do the same things it couldn’t do 3 years ago, something as dumb as updating a library in code, or notice the nuances of authenticating with tokens and avoid concurrency issues and consider rate limiting considerations on a multi node env is still lacking for example, for someone who doesn’t get anything about the area they are asking it seems amazing, for someone knowledgeable it is just disappointing If you go into something that there is no info on the internet or very few like hand balancing watch it painfully struggling and be so clueless even after you give it all the tips, that you think you are dealing with a very rough POC done by someone with deep pockets 😂

I think most experts agree that it will happen - which is why the field of post-quantum cryptography exists. It's just that those approaches can be implemented on a classical computer and thus, have already been implemented. So most experts agree that the risk from RSA eventually being broken is pretty low. The real concern is actually in historic unencrypted data that was (and still is...) being collected after we knew about the first working examples of Shor's algorithm but before these safety measures were established. Undoubtedly some bad actors are sitting around on mountains of stuff (i.e. PII, PHI, maybe state or trade secrets) to break the encryption on once that eventually becomes feasible years down the line.

I work in commercial insurance and that’s not how insurance works. Insurance regulation moves slowly and at a state level. If insurance companies tried to do that to commercial policy holders they would get sued into court oblivion with bad-faith claims. I’ve personally seen on an insureds loss runs a bad-faith claim litigation result in a $27MM. Putting that aside, there is a ton of PII that you need a proprietary AI to handle. My company has its own software, but basically its use case is drafting emails and summarizing meetings. Everything has to be signed off by a person in insurance because ultimately if there is an issue, your E&O is on the line and if it resulted from AI, your defense won’t hold up to any amount of scrutiny. There are use cases for carriers, but it mostly involves scraping data to streamline processes and it’s not something that has cross platform use. I haven’t seen any carriers eliminate staff and the process improvement isn’t significant. Seems like most brokers/carriers have pumped the brakes on rolling it out. In its current iteration, I couldn’t see it being much more useful than it is now, which isn’t saying much at all.

There was some potentially PII in the screenshots I provided. It was a UNH long thesis sub 300/share. I work for a risk adjustment validator for medicare advantage plans, the exact area they're being audited in. The thesis was that the audits CMS performs on these providers is ridiculously extensive. If anything happened, it would've been CMS's fault for not flagging it. Coding in general is a subjective task. Highly doubt that there was widespread fraud at UNH but entirely plauseable that they had some questionable coding.

Hey, back at you. I know people doing this. Going well, by and large. It'll be a transition, obviously, but it's already started. Even 10 years ago, when we were doing an integration with an enterprise partner who were heavily involved with the EU, we were required to roll everything EU related out with hosting and storage especially for that market, for similar reasons (lots of PII and they weren't comfortable with US base data processing being legally clean for them.) At the time, this was regarded as a bit over the top. Not any more. Most everything I listed has decent alternatives now (depends on your needs, obviously), more is being built out, and on prem or hybrid on prem works well. Pick your desired solution and rock on.

But a few minutes before, the market closed the contract completely bottomed out abd closed at -98% on the day. The stocks price didn't collapse when the market closed, and all other contracts at surrounding strike prices didn't collapse at market close like the 60 did, they all remained at roughly 70% up on the day. So why did the contract at 60 strike completely collapse at -98% right before the market closed?

New to options here. I bought a $50 6/20 PII call today just dipping my toes in. Thought I had my head kind of wrapped around this. As the day went on, I was up 24%, eventually falling to being up 12% at the closing bell. Immediately, it plummeted down from 3.80 to 2.70. Nothing major, and to be honest I went in to this knowing I’d likely be losing some money to learn. So here’s where I’m at — what’s the deal with the giant drop at the bell? I can point ot several financial major financial institution that have hacked several security oincluding noononly the loss of PII that not only leads fo money loss but loss off identity altogether (it's crazy you can't think past just one thing. Way more at stake than you realize) to include the major financial institution even committing identity theft on their own user base. I can also point out to those same institutions losing tons of major assets and having to go through several lawsuits. The fact that you don't know about any of these is crazy. Even one of the most important databases to guard got hacked in Equifax. Fidelity just had PII leaked of many thousands of its customers. Fidelity also locked it's own customers out of having access to their own money they deposited by 3 weeks or more by default causing them not to even be able to pay bills. Sucks for those thst didn't have another institution to pay from. There are also user errors (you sound prone to) that can compromise access to accounts. Tons of reasons to have more than one account. SIPC does not cover every situation. You again are clueless about the ways money and valuable information can be stolen. Even by the very institution that is being used. You're too busy trying to argue than think. Ah well, go ahead and whine about things I guess. I noticed even here folks gave reasonable advice and you just whined about every little thing and how fearful you were to invest in your own chosen investments and needed to try and "space it out on a day by day basis," because you can't even trust your own picks. Other brokerages haven't offered hat RH has so your logic doesn't make any sense. Also, it isn't true that financial institutions do not run promotions with no time limit caps. That is a flat lie. Financial institutions most always have time limits associated with them especially on bonuses. Your lack of awareness there just tanked your credibility to speak on it. As for offering different things, we'll no crap lol. That is literally every business. For buy and hold investors they don't tend bended to be calling up brokerages like that anyhow but saying "different brokers have different things" is a captain obvious statement. Fidelity has even had issues with folks not having access to money for literally weeks from even a basic deposit. In fact, they even instituted a mandatory 3 week hold on deposits so folks couldn't pay their bills. They also had a breach that leaked thousands of their clients PII. So it's dumb to act like RH is oh so terrible and act like every other brokerage is so much better at everything when RH has demonstrated decent enough functionality and some of the best products in the market. Many of RH products are "10x times better" than Fidelity's for instance. This comes from someone that has money at both institutions. I'm just not goofy about hating on either and keep it real unlike many if not most people. It 100% is about RH offering better products. That's the whole point of a business. Again, you show lack of understanding of basic business principles.

People who don't work in this field I think don't appreciate just how out of touch these big financial institutions are. 9/10 people I have to coordinate with at a big bank is a literal dinosaur who has a panic attack at the mere mention of a tool created past 1998. The amount of times I've had large household named institutions copy-pasting raw CSVs with non-anonymized PII over email as a "data pipeline", or where it took 1+ year for them to develop even a basic API, is just hilarious. They literally just can't do it themselves. There is a reason these partner banks keep shoveling cash for fintechs like Affirm to go build and service new technologies for them - because the banks literally just do not have the ability or inclination to meaningfully innovate themselves. They are giant oil tankers trying to turn in a puddle, with so much bureaucratic bloat it'd take years of 3-week staggered "syncs" between 8 departments to even agree to write a proposal to begin to plan doing something like this lmao.

Maintaining your own infra has many expenses and challenges. How would you handle disaster recovery? If the building burns down and you don’t have another data center in another region/country, then you’re out of business. Managing an identical cloud backup means twice the dev time and testing, plus the passive cloud bill. Plus, you’ll need talented hires to maintain and upgrade the onsite hardware constantly, manage the day-today, plus energy costs for 24/7 cold AC. Plus security. If you’re storing PII, god help you.

You’re also wrong about AI saving money though. Over the last year AI responsiveness coding has gotten more common and yet there are more contract attorneys employed than ever and getting paid more after the post covid drop in rates. Why? Because everyone is terrified of getting sued for sending their client’s precious privilege docs or hot docs to the other side (not to mention PII etc) and while they can look at responsiveness predictions and say a certain level is ok, they can’t say AI says this is just a little bit privileged so its fine to send out. Do that and the whole house of cards starts to look shaky. Plus cases are bigger than ever and AI makes it barely tractable by humans which leads to more investigstions or suits happening. And company data growth never leveled off, a case that was 2 million docs in 2014 can be 20 million in 2024. Maybe OpenAI is telling the truth and in 5 years we have fully general AI and can settle lawsuits with the click of a button. Fine call me when that happens.

Told my bosses after complaining about the change, which they agreed was overboard but because our company deals with HIPAA, PHI, PII and PCI information, they agreed to lock it down for everyone, even those in management. I don’t do it to not work, I do it so I can see my emails come in as I have OCD about having too many unread mails.

I wouldn't touch Marcus right now. GS has been pulling back on their consumer facing products (Marcus personal loans, checking, et) so it's possible the savings accounts will go at some point as well. Additionally, they have issues with account locks on higher dollar amount transactions (~100k). I had to call 7 or 8 times, go through the same script, only for them to call me and ask for PII to try to approve the transaction. And then when I didn't, the loop started all over again. I switched my savings to Ally, but honestly I moved most of my dry powder over to a mix of vanguard MMF + T-bills.

On 26 June 2013 at Lackland AFB TX, an EXCEL spreadsheet containing personally identifying information (PII) on 13,354 RegAF members who were projected to separate from the Regular Air Force between 30 September 2012 and 30 May 2013 was transmitted unencrypted, from a ".mil" e-mail address to a".com" e-mail address. The potentially-compromised information transmitted by unencrypted e-mail (" mil-to-.com") included the names, military ranks, SSN's, DOB's, personal home addresses, ASVAB Scores, and separation dates of those RegAF members, including your information. And didn't Roku recently have a data breach? And don't forget about these. https://www.upguard.com/blog/biggest-data-breaches-us We are idiots. I appreciate your optimism that you, or a journalist for that matter, could be able to tell me, of all people, more about this. FOIA will show that a single Analyst sent one or more inappropriate emails. If it’s determined that any communications included inappropriate information, such as PII or pre-release data, then that Analyst will be terminated and face a ten-year sentence. (In case you didn’t know, that’s the base penalty for such disclosures.)

I appreciate your conjecture about the credentials of the rogue Analyst. You’ve probably got a mediocre short story in you waiting to come out. (BTW, everyone at BLS has ‘significant leeway over [their] communications’) Yeah, the asshole is facing ten years if he disclosed PII or pre-release info. Do yourself a favor, boyo, and don’t tell someone who’s affirmed in writing the penalty for illegal disclosure that you don’t even know. That’s just embarrassing.

Biometric or health data are collected. Interactions, behaviors, or usage analytics data are collected. Sensitive data are collected. Data is automatically collected. Some jurisdictions already don't consider it possible for people below the age of majority (i.e. kids) to consent to this kind of data collection. On top of that, you have the fact that the vast majority of Roblox content creators are kids who aren't being fairly reimbursed for their work. Roblox has made a business out of toeing the line of what is legal and what is not. It would only take one meaningful piece of "online safety" legislation to destroy its business model, and the EU is taking this kind of issue increasingly seriously.

That's not really what it says. Why are you looking at the T&C of the advisor platform? Your contractually agreement is with the advisor. Are you being asked to enter into an Agreement with Advisor360? And no - it's not necessarily at odds with regulatory requirements. Advisor360 isn't a regulated finserv. Your adviser is the regulated entity. And SOX and PCI doesn't apply here. PII isn't a regulation. Let me know if you need more clarification. I'm familiar with this stuff.

One thing I am certain of is one of these generative AI developers is going to fall victim to a massive data leak via some state funded bad actors. The data you type in an LLM isn’t yours after you offer it up through the UI. It doesn’t disappear into the ether either, they store it to improve the LLM. I also know that people are dumb as shit and have no idea how an LLM works so massive amounts of PII and sensitive data is going to be entered. Whatever company this happens to first is going to crumble and the stock price will tank overnight. Then a congressional committee of Draugers who are still trying to download google.com will put strict regulations on the industry setting us back 10 years. I’d be willing to bet my net worth that this scenario plays out in the next 3-6 years.
