> Big part of Apple's current market share is due to being tied to Apple's ecosystem. "The reason Apple sells a lot of shit is because they have a value prop" Yes. That's how business works. >It's difficult to transfer your stuff over to Android No it isn't. There's an app for it. >Apple users have a hard time messaging with Android users unless everyone uses WhatsApp etc. (they don't) No they don't. RCS is supported on iOS now. >The second reason why Apple does well is marketing. Google and Samsung also have marketing departments. Apple does well because they sell a product that users like. It's not that hard. I use a Mac. Why? Because POSIX + battery life + hardware quality. My mom uses an iPhone because; 1. software support iOS 26 is supported for the iPhone 11, 2. she can go to a brick and mortar apple store if things break, 3. your aforementioned ecosystem.

It’s allowing for 5.3 restricted common stock, which are held by employees or larger investors/CEOs, to be available. This could mean it’s opening up for more outside investors, to pay off debts, or to raise capital for new ventures. It could also be that it was a scheduled/regulatory event. It’s normal for RCS to be released for the company to be able to raise liquidity. If they weren’t sure they’d be able to sell it, they wouldn’t have released them. But we’d have to know who sold and how much. If it was 100% of someone’s RCS portfolio, that would be a red flag, but if it was a small percentage to allow cash flow, then it’s not a huge deal. Also, RCS are NOT dilutions. A larger amount of RCS would be a red flag, but this looks like a normal.

Market cap is relative. The path to now has been tough on shareholders. $AGRI is considered by many to be a P&D, mainly because they’ve done so many dilutive measures in their recent history. But clearly they’ve done well recapitalizing those offerings into legit ASIC miners. Does hardware go stale and will this become a liability, yes it will. But ideally by combining mining and acquiring new agricultural customers, they can refresh that hardware at set periodic intervals. https://ir2.agriforcegs.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/AgriFORCE-Presentation-Jan-27-2025.pdf It’s also curious they have the TerraHash and the RCS business. https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2025/03/05/3037486/0/en/AgriFORCE-Growing-Systems-Ltd-Announces-Purchase-Orders-for-RCS-Devices.html

You’ll always be at the whim of the markets. HYSAs don’t generally beat inflation, if even matching it in recent years. I don’t mean to sound gloomy, but this situation will get worse before it gets better. I’m in individual stocks, hedging with options (or really, downright playing in long dated options). This is an… interesting time to learn this. I would park it somewhere predictable, learn, and wait. Then again, I’m more of a trader. I get the allure of DCA forever. Buuuuuuuuut lost decades happen. I've come to realize that most iPhone users (at least in my circles) don't ever update their phones. I've heard talk for YEARS in how iPhones offer many years of updates, now to realize soooo many people don't ever do it. I noticed this because the iPhone users have never updated to the newer OS that allows RCS. I asked all the time why, and I just hear over and over again they they "never updated" and don't want to be bothered by it. I have a work iPhone and can verify that at least the majority of my coworkers also never updated their work phone. Just blows my mind since I've heard this argument for so long against Android. Ok, rant over. Still using my pixel 5 from 2020. Runs perfectly. I replaced the battery once myself and that's it.

Apple has been raked over the coals the last few years for their monopolistic practices. There's a reason they now support RCS, have USB-C, allow the use of digital wallets other than apple wallet, or whatever tf its called, among various other things. It's not out of the kindness of their hearts they've done this. They were forced, primarily by the EU, to do these things. Microsoft is borderline. The gaming side is getting a bit bloated. The PC side there isn't much to be done there. Nvidia just has no competition. AMD said they're not competing on the top end anymore, and Intels GPUs are a joke. AMDs answeres to Nvidias flagship GPUs has always been lackluster at best anyway, but with them pulling out, Nvidia just has a full on monopoly in that area and there's nothing any government can really do about it.

Apple gets hate for very valid reasons though. If you're a developer, then you'll understand why they're a nightmare to deal with in order to get your app developed and published. They refused to support an OPEN STANDARD called RCS, which is literally iMessage but for everyone. Everyone but Apple uses it. Thankfully FCS put pressure on Apple so now Apple will be supporting it. That means no more SMS/MMS legacy protocol being used between Android and Apple devices. And on that point, Android users have been ostracized and scorned because they can't participate in group chats with the Apple users. The amount of girls that say, "Oh, you have an Android... why?" is enough to hate Apple more because it isn't an Android problem.. it's an Apple one... It's just an evil company so it very much deserves it. They need to get their act together.

Mentions:#OPEN#RCS#MMS
r/wallstreetbetsSee Comment

So the reason that happens is because of Apple refusing to use the RCS protocol for messaging like everybody else or to release iMessage to anybody but themselves. It means that anybody texting between Android and iPhone defaults back to SMS which is an older standard that doesn't support "rich" texting features such as multimedia (or pictures larger than like 100 kilobytes.) The good news is that Apple finally caved and announced last year that they will be adopting RCS for iOS 18 meaning the blurred images and videos thing shouldn't be a problem anymore. The bad news is that Apple's entire mobile device identity for a period of years was based on "blue bubble vs green bubble" which made them delay this adoption by an extra 5 years or so.

What I find interesting that no one is talking about is how we might see Starliner fail on reentry. I was going to make a post about this earlier today, but work got in the way and now you come along with this great explainer, I’ll just put my 2 cents in a comment: To the uninitiated: Starliner’s failures were in its RCS thrusters, which basically control how it’s oriented and the direction it’s going. They got very lucky that the failure was able to be controlled enough to dock with the ISS. I am not sure if luck will be on their side again. Not only did Starliner not originally have autonomous descent software in it, but these thrusters will also control how it reenters the atmosphere. There are a few scenarios that could happen: 1. They don’t fail again, reentry goes off without a hitch 2. They fail in such a way that causes the reentry profile to be too steep, causing it to burn up on reentry. 3. They fail in such a way that causes the reentry profile to be too shallow, causing it to take multiple orbits to slow down enough for atmospheric capture, altering its final destination and even possibly causing scenario 2 to happen. 4. They fail in such a way that causes it to crash into the ISS. This one is much less likely from the basis that NASA is even ok’ing it to undock, crashing into the ISS would not just endanger the lives of everyone on board, but also cause rifts in global geopolitics (they don’t call it the INTERNATIONAL Space Station for nothing), ain’t no way NASA is risking this. Scenario 1 is boring and does nothing for all of your puts. Scenario 2 and 3 I believe would cause a lot of panic selling. Boeing has reportedly been adamant about the astronauts using Starliner still despite these failures, and if it’s destroyed upon reentry all anyone will be talking about is “holy shit Boeing almost knowingly caused another Columbia.” Then again, I know more about rocket science than I’ll ever know about stocks, and I only know the very basics of rocket science.

It's the RCS thrusters (5) that went bad. That was the reason why they couldn't dock on time. The capsule was in a standby position, 600 feet away from the ISS, waiting. Boeing since then recovered 4 of the 5 RCS but they still have no idea what was the reason for the failure.

Good luck texting out of your watch because that's also reserved only for apple watches. Html 5 handicapped for developers but not Apple itself Refusing RCS to force lock in of customers Obviously the 30% commission hurts consumers The ignorant analysis is "hur dur I like apple products" when it should be how much cheaper would these products be if apple had to meaningfully compete on a level playing field.

It's not just the SMS/MMS standard that makes things shitty. It certainly doesn't help, but beyond that, Apple also purposefully sets the max file size for MMS to even lower than the already low MMS limit, resulting in videos looking like they were filmed on a potato (the quality isn't great for MMS video in general, but it looks even worse on Apple to Android texts than it does on Android to Android non-RCS texts due to Apple doing this)

Maybe, but I think the claims about messaging are the weakest part of the case. If you need end to end messaging between iPhones and Android phones you can use What’s App, which is free. Apple has up until a few months ago refused to implement RCS, and instead forced SMS (an outdated messaging format) for messages to non-apple phones. Apple does not sabotage android messages. Apple realized SMS was going to be a problem before anyone else cared about it and create the iMessage protocol in 2011 to enable iPhone users to better message each other and avoid SMS charges and message limits enforced by wireless carriers. RCS messaging which is the modern standard message format designed to replace SMS wasn't put into Google Messages until 2018. Apple has dragged their feet in implementing RCS compatibility into iMessage; so when communicating with an Android user the messages default to SMS hence the downgraded feature set. There are numerous third party messaging apps you can download and use on iOS such as WhatsApp and Signal. The problem is iMessage is good enough and ubiquitous enough that no one bothers to use third party apps. That said Apple has already stated they plan on adding RCS support in 2024 so I don't see how this lawsuit succeeds.

Which doesn't work most of the time. So I use Google Messages website to manually download messages and then that barely works. None of which happens Droid2Droid. These governments can easily prove Apple is purposefully tanking iPhone to Droid texting. Apple refusing to adopt RCS until Europe spanked them is already proof.

Trains and planes existing doesn't mean car companies are allowed to have monopolies. So text alternatives existing doesn't mean Apple should be allowed to proliferate a garbage Apple to Droid texting quality that pushes Droid users to buy iPhones. I mean they purposefully nerfed their phones ability to text to Droids and then when Google came up with RCS, Apple has dragged its feet to the last possible second to implement it to protect their market share. Apple shouldn't be forced to give away iMessage shit, but they should be forced to either adopt RCS immediately or make their own system capable of smooth groupchats with Droid users. How is RCS better? It’s not universally supported either, the gaps filled by Google as the provider through Google messaging no different than Apple. It’s not specced to be end-to-end encrypted and no provider can be trusted with their claims to encrypting your messages over this protocol.  Maybe this is the real reason for the suit, parties doing the suing want easier access to your text messages.

Points two and three seem highly regarded. Cloud streaming video games is still dogshit due to latency and are people really suing over the color of their message bubble? That's a really funny example to have chosen, because k-cups are an open standard which third parties can implement and get 100% of the same functionality. iMessage is a closed product and has a bunch of features which Apple refuses to turn into an open standard. Apple only now adopting the RCS standard is 100% a move to defend against antitrust actions, similar to Meta integrating all of their chat systems across their three platforms. Only doing it so they have more of a defense if/when the government comes knocking.

No one about iMessage. Its just an app. Just support RCS protocols and open up the api to whatever Facetime uses. The problem with this is that Apple will potentially lose customer base for people who only get an iphone to talk to other iphones. If you can do the same thing with a $300 off-brand then that becomes very attractive. Its an artificial restriction to limit choice. MSFT got nailed for the same thing in the 90s and Apple is significantly more restrictive than MS ever was.

I mean, if they want to make the Watch easier to pair with Android phones, ok, that will increase Watch sales. No one buys an iPhone just to use a Watch. Apple is adopting RCS support this year, so the argument about iMessage is moot. Allowing multiple App Stores will hurt the consumer, not help them. Apple announced RCS support around the same time regulators started publicly poking at their messaging monopoly - do we think that's a coincidence?

This is not the case. Android to Android doesn't have this issue so long as the messaging app being used supports RCS. Apple likes to blame Android, but it's just a marketing tactic. Fortunately, they have agreed to implement RCS this year which will fix the issue.

iPhones are absolutely NOT intuitive. You believe they are because you're so familiar with them. Every time I need to do something for loved ones on their phone for them I want to throw their iPhone across the room because nothing is where it intuitively should be. They have good consistency but how they've done some things are absolutely not even remotely intuitive. People buy iPhones because they don't want to be the only one in the friend group who can't get messages sent to them properly because Apple refuses to support internationally recognized standards. There's a reason everyone in Europe (and India) still uses WhatsApp and iPhones aren't anywhere close to as dominant there. Everyone in USA just sends regular texts so Apple not supporting RCS hurts users (including iPhone users).

I mean they haven’t done anything. They just haven’t bothered to add RCS support yet, but that’s coming later this year I think and alleviates that problem. There was beeper who had a service that allowed android phones to use iMessage, but considering that involved stuff like exploiting fake credentials it’s not surprising that got shut down

no it's sent via MMS either way. Android doesn't support imessage (because apple won't let them) and Apple doesn't support RCS (because they don't want to)

no one using android uses MMS except to send messages to iphones because Apple doesn't support RCS. So I don't see how that's an android problem

Android has gotten a lot better with this in the past few years, or at least samsung's One UI. There are a few proprietary samsung apps that I disabled and hid in a corner but that'd be the same if I had an iphone. Otherwise everything works pretty smoothly and there is some pretty basic stuff like moving the cursor around when typing that just works better on android. There's no reason Apple's imessage couldn't interface with RCS. It's shit like that that gets them their bad name. All that said, I'm not against apple, I prefer OSX to windows by a factor of 100

Sort of. Apple has flat out refused to adopt RCS for one thing. Maybe it's finally changed. But that's meant that messages had to fall back MMS / SMS. There are a lot of oddities that stem from that, like a picture will get down-scaled to MMS quality, which is BAD by modern standards. Would have looked fine on an LG Chocolate though. So yes, if you want to message cross platform with any sort of fidelity, you would have to use a third party app. But I know for me, the struggle of using WhatsApp, Kakao, Viber, Line, Messenger, or WeChat is often a battle that I wish didn't exist. iMessage is also the source of "green bubble" shaming. Yeah Apple is planning to roll out RCS this year I believe which would fix that issues.

It’s about damn time. Epic tried and failed. Hopefully the US government forces apples hand to open up the software. They should require adoption of RCS and require Apple to allow side loading of apps and alternative app stores no strings attached. I’m a stock holder but even I think Apple is being incredibly monopolistic.

I mean, FTC should've sued them over imessage ages ago. "Hey, what if we locked our customers out of the full suite of messaging features they paid for unless they're texting someone who also bought one of our devices?" - totally not anti consumer behavior The funniest part is they have such a grip on the us consumer market that this blatantly anti consumer bullshit is seen positively, and manufacturers like Samsung that use RCS messaging (which allows 99% of the same features and is manufacturer agnostic) are seen as somehow being "behind" for supporting open standards.
