My Watchlist For 2/18/2021 --- I also recalibrated a search to find lower risk, lower reward plays during this red week -- these are safer.

The issue is that Waymo does autonomous taxis so much better and already has a massive fleet - they’re literally years ahead of Tesla at this point, and the value isn’t in trying make make a profitable taxi company, it’s in the data - Google has FAR more uses and applications for that data than Tesla. Think about maps, ai, shopping, consumer behaviour, travel data, adverting, SEO and SEM, etc etc. these are all things that vertically integrate directly in to google’s much broader business models. While Tesla is trying to sell cars and become a taxi company.

They specialize especially in two advanced processes: 1. Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS / Field Assisted Sintering Technology, FAST) 2. Cryogenic milling / particle size reduction / mechanical alloying These capabilities allow them to take raw or semi-processed materials (mostly metals, ceramics, or composite powders) and transform them into high-performance, custom parts or materials with tailored microstructures, often for industries with demanding specifications (aerospace, defense, nuclear, semiconductors, clean energy, etc.) Beyond those, they also provide related services: material development, testing, tooling, coating targets, and modeling. They function both as an R&D partner and a (gradually expanding) toll-manufacturer for customers. Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) is a method to consolidate powder materials (metals, ceramics, composites) into dense solids by applying pulsed electrical current + pressure simultaneously in a controlled atmosphere. Cryomilling is grinding or milling materials under cryogenic (very low temperature) conditions (often using liquid nitrogen) to produce ultra-fine powders or break down materials that are otherwise difficult to grind. They help customers with custom formulations, prototyping, mechanical testing (e.g. strength, hardness), microstructure analysis (SEM, etc.), and process optimization. They supply graphite tooling, SPS systems, modeling software for SPS, coating / sputter targets, etc.

But their AI doesn't generate the same amount of money as SEM. Basically now Google has to provide an AI summary on top of the research to compete with GPT or other search engines. People read the AI summary and don't click on the 100s of search results (who paid to be ranked). The AI summary will contain, 3 links in it?. Google SEM is about to collapse and its revenues with it. My point is, the AI summary is enough for people and they don't go on the ranked websites anymore

I get where you're coming from with the marketing struggles, especially since Google’s tech is top-tier but often flies under the radar. I remember when I first started using Google's AI stuff; it was wild how good it was, but nobody seemed to know about it. Digital marketing is my game too, and SEM does keep working magic, no doubt. I’ve dabbled with different strategies, and while Facebook has its perks, it can't replace search ads’ reach. When managing my own digital campaigns, tools like HubSpot felt rigid, while Buffer was too basic. Pulse for Reddit, on the other hand, provides a unique angle for monitoring real-time mentions and staying engaged in relevant conversations. It might give you that extra edge in mastering digital engagement.

You are forgetting that Gemini is the leading AI model on most benchmarks. And notebooklm is best-in-class for audio. Google is just stunningly incompetent at marketing these products. "Chatgpt vs google" was always a false dichotomy, but with Gemini more integrated in their product suite it will soon be obvious that you don't have to choose between a real-time index of the internet and intelligent commentary from a frontier model. The marketing fumble is puzzling, but they have plenty of time to turn it around, and the search ads business prints money in the meantime. I've done digital marketing for 15 years and SEM is the only channel that works (verifiably and incrementally) across businesses and demographics. FB has comparatively narrower value.

What are you looking to do with the money? You mentioned maybe a house? Is this all your savings? Do you have more in cash or 401k, IRA or similar? What time frame can you invest for before you might need it? Answering questions like these (which I hope they also asked) will help you figure out what you need to do. For most people, buying the market via VTI or VOO is about as good as it gets until you want to get more risk off outside of equities. I think you can find pretty standard stuff online to help with this. You could also open an account at Fidelity or Schwab and meet with them. I work in SEM & I’ve seen them release half assed bullshit in the middle of December, only for it to be gone by summer. The likelihood that this results in a forced divestiture of Chrome is very low for a lot of reasons. For starters, they do not have the only search engine. Bing may suck, but it is owned by Microsoft which is in fact a bigger company than Google by market cap - so they could definitely compete if it mattered to them - DuckDuckGo also produces the same thing. The competition which DuckDuckGo offered with their lack of tracking even demonstrates differentiation exists in the market. Moreover, Google AdWords (their search product) can be manually created on websites by selling ad space to sponsors & placing an ad without the network of Google's platform. Outbrain does similar spots. Technically speaking, more broadly, search ads are just "digital marketing" which also exists on social media, or email. SMS, streaming, etc. are all alternatives to Google. Hell, television & radio can also be places businesses spend money on promotions. Also, SEM (Google search result ad locations) are not inherently valuable for other businesses whereas they are more beneficial for certain industries like legal firms. Microsoft pioneered this whole fake monopoly act in the 90's. All it does is signals to the market that the stock is worth more than it is today, ads speculation which drives the options markets, and ultimately gives the big business a chance to write or re-write the laws.

01. There revenues have been down the last 3 years consecutively. 02. NVDA/AMD has nothing to do with newegg, their chips are no longer being used to play call of duty at 4K with 60 FPS.... Nor are they being used to mine crypto. Or to edit videos on FCPX. Its basically B2B at this point for AI data scraping, rendering, and processing and Quantum computing. So barely any B2C for these chips, which is newegg all about. Newegg is B2C or B2B to offer dell computers for doing office work, not for large corporations to offer AI services. 03. Based off on Ahrefs/and other SEO/SEM tools they hit peak traffic in 2021 but now level back to the same amount of traffic during the first years of 2013.... And Google Trends 'Newegg' search traffic has been dying since 2010. 04. Long term I don't see anything, so you're risking hloding a bag for a short term possibility of gains. You're probably better off investing in MSFT/Dell if you're into gaming.

Google will be hit pretty hard by the news cycle on AI. They look like they’re failing at that, while Microsoft through OpenAI are finally getting their revenge for their search engine failures. However, people are slow to change their habits, so long term Google still has a big advantage on that enormous SEM market (plus Android…), and AI is not that complicated tech that they can’t recover in 1-2 years. Problems with your bet is not the prices, is the timeframe. If it was 2 years instead of 6 months you’d have won it pretty easy, with 6 months is pure gambling

In my case it wasn't coding but asking specific program and project management hypothetical scenarios as well as mock architectural whiteboarding.

That’s not quite how it works. CTR, CPM and CPC are the metrics that govern ad spend for the most part. Brands are merely dabbling with Tik tok and focusing primarily on organic content creation since the algorithm is still democratic enough to make unpaid worthwhile. On the other hand, Instagram has made it very difficult lately to achieve organic growth so even small time brands and influencers are running paid content. Thus far, Tik Tok is a platform better suited for brand building than programmatic advertising. Just like Twitter and Snap, they are very far behind, and it’s one of the reasons Twitter had a hard time monetizing their business in spite of having solid traffic. I work in the industry but I’m not an ad buyer myself so to there’s only so much quant data I can relay. But the point is Facebook is still #1 in ROI as far as ad spend goes, followed by SEM/SEO which is google’s business. Remember Twitter owned Vine, which was essentially Tik Tok, and they shut it down due to poor monetization. Also, remember how easy it was for Instagram to crush Snap (implementing stories). And currently they are (thus far poorly) shifting focus to Reels/short form video. Competition is surely getting stronger but the threat is far from dire. “The [insert company] killer” type headlines have always sold quite well, but they rarely become true.

Seeing it is irrelevant. Liquid phase exfoliation is older than the company; they didn't solve anything. Genuinely every single graphene vendor uses liquid phase exfoliation: graphene supermarket, graphenea, US Research Nanomaterials, XG Sciences and many others. Nothing novel about it at all. I am not going to dox myself but my lab has found generally superior specimens from XG Sciences from all of the vendors via Raman spectroscopy, SEM, and derived composite performances. I would also point out that this method does not actually make graphene. I think they quoted 6-10 layers. That is not graphene; it's something close, yes. 6 graphene's. And the products they mention putting their product in doesn't make any logical sense. I haven't even been at this facility and I haven't read anything about how they claim to do this, but I already know that they make their composites either with a high shear mixer or a bladeless planetary mixer, the latter being preferable and more likely. Nothing is novel here.

SEM cited labor pressures, especially in Critical Illness Recovery Hospitals. In other words, they’re struggling to keep nurses on staff and had to bring on more expensive temp contract staff, which are in high demand. High staff burnout rate affecting SEM and a whole lot of other hospitals. Investors are going to be very harsh with companies who report weak Q4 results this earnings season. And probably not too rewarding with those who outperform Street estimates. Long term, if you assume that the company can withstand those labor pressures, this is a fairly attractive entry point. This is an asymmetric upside opportunity so it’s either going to $0 or back up in the $8-10 range. at the current share price this is a ~3:1 upside. ATIP has $135MM of available liquidity per Q3 earnings. It burned $20MM last quarter. There is no near term bankruptcy concern. Visits and Reimbursements were essentially flat Q2 and Q3, but the company has generally been increasing VPD since the original Q1 2020 COVID shock. The high fixed cost base is why this stock has so much leverage. incremental improvements in reimbursement rates or visits per day have strong impacts on EBITDA and share price. Many markets are performing well, at or above pre Covid levels but Illinois is lagging due to extremely competition from other PT chains, and large hospital groups bringing PT in house. ATIP has many locations in Illinois, they started closing underperforming Illinois shops last quarter. Also, comparing this opportunity to companies outside of the PT space isn’t an accurate depiction of its potential (ex. Katapult). USPH and SEM are probably better comparisons.

https://imgur.com/a/IVtpiOi Pump and dump. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33279560/ >Many restoring formulations for damaged hair keratin have been developed. Some patents claim that the hair repair occurs through the reconstruction of disulfide bridges of keratin, through α,β-unsaturated Michael acceptors, such as shikimic acid and bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate. To gain more insights into the possible repairing mechanism, this study is aimed at assessing, by IR and Raman spectroscopies coupled to scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the structural changes induced in keratin from bleached hair by the treatment with commercial reconstructive agents as well as shikimic acid and dimethyl maleate, chosen as model compounds. Vibrational spectroscopy revealed that shikimic acid- and maleate-based restoring agents interacted with hair fibers modifying both their cortex and cuticle regions. None of the investigated treatments induced an increase in the SS disulfide bridges content of the hair cortex, although it cannot be excluded that this phenomenon could have occurred in the cuticle. SS rearrangements were found to occur. None of our results can be interpreted as direct evidence of the sulfa-Michael reaction/cross-linking. From a morphological point of view, beneficial effects of the restoring agents were observed by SEM analyses, in terms of a more regular hair surface and more imbricated scales Retards, feel free to buy high, sell low

> It's mainly the slimy car dealership part. Right, and my point is that this is not how 80% of the real car dealerships are now. I'm not talking about a shitty used car lot or some 2 or 3 rooftop dealer group, I'm talking about the real dealers with 5-10+ dealerships that have full BDR departments and internet marketing teams. They understand how readily available data is and that if a customer puts in any effort at all they are armed with basically the same information the dealership has. Sites like Cars.com and CarGurus literally rate how good or bad of a deal each car on the dealer's lot is by combining things like mileage, age, model, area, and price to tell the customer if they are getting screwed or not. With an informed customer base smart dealerships know trying to fuck over a customer is not the best way to make money, it is having high volume and winning business in their service center from satisfied customers. Your comment proved my point perfectly, you are stuck with this idea that all car dealers are slimy when in reality that is not how most of them operate at this point. Carvana is not doing anything truly different outside of successfully keeping public perception about them positive. From an operations standpoint they are doing exactly what every major dealership group is doing but at a massive scale - spend a metric fuckton on ads, auto listing websites, SEO, and SEM, and then try to do as much volume as they possibly can. One thing I want to make clear is that I don't think Carvana is going to falter and I do think they'll continue to grow, but this idea that is being floated around this thread that car dealers are all slimy and set in their ways is clearly coming from people that are unassociated with the auto industry and don't know what they are talking about.

I can't see the future, but I can guarantee that the older generations, which have amassed the largest personal wealth in history, will spend their money struggling to find care as they age and will spend everyone trying to live longer. I work in healthcare, I see this all of the time. I'm long healthcare everything. It's also my view as well that covid is going to lead to massive burnout and attrition of healthcare providers and staff. I'm super long on telehealth everything, home care, healthcare REITs, biotech, med tech. We also don't have nearly enough housing for the elderly and they'll get care at home, so I'm long LHCG and ADUS for home health and hospice. I'm long home monitoring, which is also TDOC. The population is aging and the younger are getting less healthy than before. If you want to tie this into covid specifically, look at long term care hospitals like SEM, HCA even. Look at pharma that makes blood thinners for those blood clots, like PFE and BMY, biosimilars like VTRS. PFE and BMY get way more revenue than just blood thinners, but that's how I think about it from covid.

You realize that TOF & BOF campaigns have different conversion metrics and that maintaining a ratio is key to keeping cost per acquisition in line. If the 20% of ads that have the lowest cpa stop performing and you are forced to spend more on the top 80%…your going to change that ratio. If the 20% ads can’t re-market to IOS devices based on >1 day FB history…and iOS is 60% of US FB…and let’s assume mobile is 75%…we’ll that’s 45% of user that are affected. Actually let’s assume that 20% opt in - so that’s 36% of users affected. Let’s use my company’s data that says Android users are 35% less valuable…well I think your going to see some cracks. Facebook is a walled garden - so they have always kept the view thru and scroll thru (who say the ad or paused on it) a secret. I believe that now they are being fed their own medicine by Apple. However, I do believe they have more leniency on view thru conversions. Btw, not trying to be a jerk. I would love for someone who has your experience to poke holes in this. Maybe my company is dealing with seasonal decline as well of impact of opening the economy from COVID. I also believe that companies that GET Facebook utilize the impressions more than just measuring last click. However, if your last click cpa spikes and your not seeing the same lift in other channels b/c they impression quality is dropping - well, your going to cut spend. Attribution software tells you which TOF campaigns provide the most impact to BOF campaigns. When your BOF campaigns stop working…that means your TOF campaigns aren’t as effective. You end up scaling the TOF campaigns down to just the most profitable ones. Then the fun starts. Should I shrink my business to maintain margin, or should I spend my way out of it to maintain top line revenue. Should I allocate my media elsewhere? but crap, there are only a few places I can get a lot of quality impressions for cheap that fit my demographic. FB & YT are the top 2 IMO. SEM & Pinterest are intent based, so hopefully they work (branded always works). Not sure if anyone is getting Twitter to work. Programmatic media buying? Maybe. Hire affiliates to spam email…well that’s generally low quality but we’ll adjust payout to maintain margin. I guess if you’re venture backed you try and spend your way out of it. Otherwise you shrink and wait it out hoping that FB is able to overcome the performance issues. Does this scenario make Facebook more money in the next 12 months? We’ll see - but I’m guessing that they may be able to keep it up for a while but they will have to lower rates eventually

I do Analytics, but I have friends in media buying, SEO and SEM, social, etc. Truthfully when it comes to this field, I cannot recommend Analytics enough. At least from my experience, it’s very easy to learn (basically you start with just Excel, and ideally you’ll learn Tableau, Alteryx, etc) and the advancement and pay is really great, so long as you’re willing to jump around. I feel like I wouldn’t recommend copywriting because all I’ve ever heard about that is that people get burnt out. Are you working at an agency or clientside?

99% of cars today are ICE. I'm not sure both companies are on equal footing when it comes to SEM.

Google is behind on advertising? They’re a juggernaut, you literally cant not advertising with them if you want to be competitive (SEM/ SEO).. Though Facebook has a much better entry point for small businesses and much better data for display.

I looked it up, seems it extends to pc too, or there is a pc variant at least. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-game-pass/pc-games?&ef_id=Cj0KCQjwjPaCBhDkARIsAISZN7Sd7JbLCDlqG8AONntPKwUxRIlDMYpEChy57FZcpv3gWNPtX2OFe9EaAq0rEALw_wcB:G:s&OCID=AID2100895_SEM_Cj0KCQjwjPaCBhDkARIsAISZN7Sd7JbLCDlqG8AONntPKwUxRIlDMYpEChy57FZcpv3gWNPtX2OFe9EaAq0rEALw_wcB:G:s But, it's not clear if the Xbox app requires an Xbox to play games from, or if the Xbox app can download and play pc versions of the offered games.

Same stock holdings, less VTRS, I buy a few shares of each every month, not planning on selling. Healthcare between pharma, med tech, REITs, managed care, telehealth, biotech makes up +/-35% of my portfolio. I work in healthcare and see most of this as safe income at the least with upside for many stocks like SEM, CVS, TDOC, HIMS, ONEM, HEC/Talkspace, VGAC/23andme etc etc
