I could not agree more. The market makers will make billions after this beautiful rally. We have a few days left and if they push price up for one more finally rally. The crash will be epic. I think we see ETH crash down below 750 and BTC should hold above 15k if not 17k. i don't think it will fall much lower without big players stepping in to buy the crash. in 2018 feds took rates to 2.5% and it crippled the market. Fast forward 4yrs and things only got worse. I think we see 85-100PB hike and after that i doubt they will go much higher because it will destroy the entire market. ​ If they raise rates above 3.5 or 5% i forget which one. I think its 3.5% the US gov will default on its debit. So I think we will see the US try to reverse course.

Agreed we're all just speculators here. It's true that rn most of the crypto applications are just tech for tech, but I see that massive shift you're talking about already present underneath all that noise. I'll get back to it later. That's a bit surprising to me if true, but yeah humans traditionally are the weakest link of any tech. What I meant before was that the security issues we might see today regarding data on public blockchains could be compared to what people of 1980s would think about the internet of today. Further regarding security, publicity and obscurity, I assume you have heard about zero knowledge proofs and zk-snarks? These do offer additional security for public blockchain data (still doesn't solve the good old lost key issue though, but it might be unsolvable). One project you might also find interesting is [Secret Network](https://scrt.network/), which employs completely private smart contracts. Seriously, as limiting it is today the disk space problem is something that I trust will simply vanish in near future. Storage capacities have already exploded in last decades, but we might actually soon see the first [crystal-type storages](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5D_optical_data_storage) that will enables us to jump from GB scale to TB/PB scale data storage and more. At it's core still are the idealists, visionaries, builders and traders who are actually creating things and driving the advancement forwards. This is the same pattern as with any frontiers. Regarding the Terra fiasco and the recent doom and gloom, I don't see any systemic cracks forming, just a natural purge of unsustainable projects. There was a clear and obvious reason for Terra's downfall (the whole UST/LUNA peg system) and even though it might (prob will!) lead into other similar projects failing there's nothing that ties it to cryptos as whole, other than the current doom sentiment. When you look at the actual development of legit project, it has never looked brighter. For me the true vision for crypto (I know, it sounds pretentious af but hear me out) is eventually a global permanence layer for the internet, where all relevant actions are recorded in distributed ledgers and can be invoked when needed. Eventually this will form a consistent and immutable network of cause-and-effect chains, where each action leaves a permanent trace and it's origins can be traced. This enables tangible virtual realities with real world like causality, among other things, potentially shared across planets. It's unsure whether any of today's cryptos will be around and to what extent, but nevertheless this is where I feel we are going on macro. I do appreciate this discussion much too, agreed that it's valuable to find people with you can respectfully disagree and still continue. I'm not a tech guy in particular and probably never will be, but I try to understand the concepts behind it.. always good to hear if I have somewhat succeeded!

market is full of market participants, so people is THE market. intrinsic value can deviate from market price and that is how things work, stocks can be over valued, under valued or trading at fair price. if the people do not understand the fundamental they will over price or under price the asset. market price is full of noise, like all asset, only a tiny portion of supply are actually free float and available for buy and sell, so thinking the market is always right in pricing the asset is very wrong because in the short run price can be moved more easily than people think, and it is proven that market is not in "Strong form efficiency". often times asset can trade below 1.0 PB which means the market is wrong, but it takes time for the market to recognize the mispricing. yes correlation with nasdaq is high now, but again, this is short term noise and if you run a regression of bitcoins life time to nasdaq you will see they are uncorrelated. in the long term price reflect fundamental, in the short term price reflect emotions and people's understanding of fundamentals. at the end we are saying the same thing in a different way, not saying i dont agree with u...

Let me just be clear, u/Looklikeglue and u/sunskymt are right, getting 51% of nodes is not that hard to do, there is about 50K nodes only, so let's say 1TB per node so it is about 50PB, which is nothing for a single small-medium company with an enterprise storage. I'm a storage engineer and there is a lot more of features like enterprise thin clones that allow you to create even million of nodes without major issues. That's why for a 51 % attack you need mining power not nodes (About 177 EH/s right now according to my umbrel node). And don't get me wrong, Like many said here before, your own full node is a wonderful thing, not to protect the network per se but to protect yourself. Btw, you can also be a miner as well, an Antiner S17 or S19 is about 5-10K USD and can do 80-100TH/s, you can join the pool of your preference and get 0 mining fees payouts (about 2% pool fee tho) since the mining pool is indeed making the block to pay you, so they can put whatever fee they want in it, even 0 sats hehehe.

From research, Future issues of Fantom I see: - I think Fantom's approach (relying on a non-sharded DAG) is suitable for the short/mid term and probably is able to scale to something like 50K-100K TPS (like you said). But this is already really tough for the nodes considering every node needs to store and process every transaction. - Assuming 50K TPS with 250 byte per transaction (average Bitcoin transaction) and assuming an optimistic compression factor of 5 (if implemented) this still means 216GB of data to store per day on every node (79TB per year per node). If you increase to 100K TPS, you already need to store 432GB per day and 158TB per year (after 10 years 1.58PB on every node). Comparing this to Google, they would need to store their whole search index on one server (they have millions of servers to distribute the huge amount of data). - Without sharding the consensus and the network, you only can rely on vertical scaling, but this is limited by the throughput of one single node. The network's TPS does not increase by adding more nodes. In particular this is a big problem because Moore's law is broken since a decade. Therefore this will be a bottleneck in the future. Sure, this will not happen tomorrow or in a year, but after real world crypto mass adoption e.g. in 5 years when the whole economy uses a distributed ledger for business, this will be a huge problem and the only solution sustainable solution is to support unlimited scaling by sharding your whole network (consensus and storage). Otherwise you will run into bottlenecks sooner or later. - For real world mass adoption 100K TPS won't be enough, we will need tens of millions of transactions in the future when the whole economy is using a DLT: E.g. NASDAQ alone processes 70000 transactions per second with a capacity of 250K TPS (and this was in 2009 - https://www.forbes.com/forbes/2009/0112/056.html?sh=2f568e357cc7) "That machine routinely processes 70,000 orders, cancelations and trades per second but can handle up to 250,000 per second--enough to deal with trades on the Nasdaq plus the London and Paris stock exchanges with room to spare.". Or VISA which regularly processes 10K-20K TPS with capacity of 65K TPS. This shows that having a max capacitiy of 100K or even 500K TPS is not future proof in the long run.
