I don’t think people betting on BAT shows how it’s successful in replacing traditional online advertising. Many people are just farming BAT, which doesn’t mean they’re actually engaging with the advertisements, or tipping ad creators. Before we can say that the Brave ad program is successful we would need to see a shift in a large amount of ad revenue that’s currently going to PPC, go to Brave ads. Which we definitely don’t have yet. The Brave ad network doesn’t even has 1% of the market share that traditional online advertising has. Additionally, BAT having a large market cap doesn’t equate to success of ad network because I can just buy BAT without any engagement in the Ad program which would ultimately increase its market cap. If the market cap was solely a reflection of capital flow into the ad network specifically, then I’d be more convinced that it was on track to replace traditional online advertising.

it's the website owner that pays the PPC fee, too. it's really no different. in OPs case, all he need do is build in some type of check to protect against bot activity/abuse. once per ip, some type of proof of work validation, etc. the same way you can't drain someones PPC balance by clicking on their ad, and then constantly refreshing the page, over and over.....

Insurance, Ride Services (Uber/Lyft), Charity, Application Websites (like indeed)… I’m sure there are so many more. Many of these companies take a cut for facilitating a service. Imagine an “Uber”-like service that is decentralized. A decentralized application is created to facilitate a ride from A to B. You pay your driver with UberCoin, cutting out the middle man meaning the driver gets paid appropriately for their services and you pay less to drive. The more the application is utilized, the higher the price of that UberCoin token goes. Or rather than Indeed making money when you apply to a job posting (they are a PPC service), imagine a decentralized version of Indeed where employers can verify your credentials using blockchain tech, and to access your resume/info, they actually pay YOU to gain access to your resume. There are so many ways these decentralized apps could be so beneficial in creating multiple streams of income and getting rid of these greedy middle men that don’t offer much value to the world and are just using your money to buy a 5th home on the beach while you struggle to make enough money to pay your rent. I’d love to hear other people’s ideas/thoughts.

Headline makes it seem like this is way bigger than it is. Bernier leads the *People’s Party of Canada*, a populist far-right fringe party that does not currently have any seats, and will likely not win any seats in our upcoming election. In Canada, the PPC doesn’t even have official “party status” as they don’t hold enough seats in the House of Commons. They’re polling at ~6%, but because of our “first past the post” system, they are not projected to win any seats (save maybbbbeeeee a spoiler for Bernier himself). This same party has seen a former riding president charged with throwing rocks at our incumbent prime minister, supporters protesting vaccine and mask mandates at hospitals, and more. Tbh, Bernier backing bitcoin is probaby a bad-look for crypto in Canada.
