Nothing fancy - I'm holding my gold in IAU, while my silver is split between SIVR and PSLV.

It sounds like they're close to expiry, so they were originally LEAPS, but are now acting like regular options. How deep ITM are they? Is there enough time value to worry about? Personally, I'd rather pay taxes and not have to put the cash into buying via exercise. Exercising also brings about the risk of SIVR going down and losing your profit. You made a good bet - I'd lock in my profit and move on.

You wanna go with physically backed ETFs. Basically, on the fund’s website, look for a daily bar list (serial numbers) and a named custodian or vault. If those aren’t there, skip it. Example: GLD (biggest) : https://www.spdrgoldshares.com/usa/gold-bar-list/ IAU (lower fee) : https://www.ishares.com/us/products/239561/ishares-gold-trust-fund Both are probably the best picks for a gold ETF. Lowest fees would be IAUM. For silver, go with SLV (biggest), or SIVR (lower fee).

I bought some SIVR the same way. Will be buying precious metals through my Roth in the future.

Right now we are in the cloud/data-center buildout wave of AI. Current small LLMs are mostly useless. Only the apple studio M3 max ultra can run not-entirely-useless deepseek models, which could have applications if custom-trained with better hardware. So, when will the buildout stop? Everyone is looking for signs of weakening demand, reduced capex, so when it happens you will hear all about it. I think everyone will go back to CSCO. Using 1998-2000 as a guidepost, CSCO started crashing when it had roughly 15% YoY growth. That's great for most companies, not great for a company with a backward PE of 200. I think if NVDA and companies see decreasing growth and it is around 4% sequential quarter growth, it's time meaningfully reduce holdings and look for boring dividend stocks like BEN. Maybe we've got another year left, maybe more. The hyperscalers are spending enormous sums on talent and facilities and these are multi-year projects, so demand is not going to collapse overnight. But, all kinds of things can go wrong in the interim. Inflation numbers are coming out Friday and all the last prints have been bad. There is a bear steepener and treasuries are priced with the expectation that the future fed won't be an inflation hawk. The fed can lower the short end, but it's the long end that determines most loan rates. If the world has no confidence in the Fed's willingness to make tough decisions to fight inflation, then lowering the short end won't juice the economy as much as it should. But, that's not a reason to be a bear. The last time inflation was hot, it was good to be in stocks. Not investment advice, yada yada. There are no cheap stocks growth stocks in this market. The semis have had huge selloffs from 2023 to near-ATH levels now, and that will continue going forward. I've also had metals as ballast, GLD, SIVR, FCX. But in a future crisis that will come at an unknown time, nothing will be completely safe.

4/10. Small caps are for trades and not good during high rate cycles. They will be good coming out a recession. Why make it so complex? 10% AVDV seems high. I’d rather buy some global ETF’s. KSA, a German one, Mexico maybe, EUAD a good European defense. Add gold or silver. I have PAAS and AEM, but SIL or SIVR for less risk maybe for you. BTC is missing. And long term treasuries I don’t see the point.

r/investingSee Comment

Maybe add some Gold or Silver as a hedge? I see you have BTC, which is good. PAAS is a good silver mining stock that is looking good. Or you can do SIVR or SIL for less risk. PLTR and NVDA will continue doing great long term, but have you taken any profits from PLTR? Esp if you bought in 20’s or 30’s?

Hoping my $SQQQ and $SILJ call options begin to print this week. Also, I loaded up on $SIL, $GDX, $GLD, $SIVR, and $GDXJ last week after selling my $TQQQ and all S&P500 investments late in the day on Friday. I got some really strong negative feelings about the market on Friday afternoon which forced me to take drastic actions across my portfolio including my HSA and Charitable Giving Account which are now in the money market options. I had no intelligence or news just uncontrollable stomach/ gut feelings which got stronger as the afternoon went on until I took actions.

I'd rather be long energy than miners. They pay hefty dividends, are more in sync with the general market at a lag, and are much less volatile than miners. Energy outperformed during those secular bear market decades and you made out like a bandit during WW2 without having to worry about not being able to own a banned asset class (gold). That being said, I do have considerable positions in SIVR and SGOL for diversification so my portfolio is "only" 50% oil/gas/pipelines.

SIVR silver etf allows options on it, but agreed above. Buying mini silver futures is still 2,500 ounces or $70k… taking delivery is a complicated if not impossible process though. It’s designed that way to continue the charade… they say holdings of silver vaults are “audited”, I don’t buy it.

Mentions:#SIVR
r/wallstreetbetsSee Comment

Yes! I tried to post long thesis on this but not enough karma. In short: Taking delivery of silver futures is next to impossible (wonder why) gold to silver price ratio is absurd. Real ratio should be 15:1 based on rarity, mining rate, historic ratios, etc this doesn’t take into consideration that demand for silver is outpacing supply, unlike with gold… even commodities traders testified to the bank shams on silver recently. SIVR is a silver etf that allows options. Investing in silver can indeed be a wise decision, especially as a hedge against inflation. Silver, like gold, has intrinsic value and has historically maintained its worth over time, making it a reliable store of value in turbulent economic times. Regarding your concern about physically storing silver, you have several options: **Silver ETFs (Exchange-Traded Funds)**: These financial instruments track the price of silver and can be bought and sold like stocks. This means you can invest in silver without having to worry about the physical aspects of storage and security. Examples include iShares Silver Trust (SLV) and Aberdeen Standard Physical Silver Shares ETF (SIVR). **Silver Mining Stocks**: Investing in companies that mine silver allows you to benefit from the potential rise in silver prices. However, keep in mind this also exposes you to the risks associated with the mining industry. **Silver Futures and Options**: These are more complex financial instruments that allow you to speculate on the future price of silver. They can offer high rewards but also come with higher risks. **Digital Silver Platforms**: Some platforms offer digital ownership of physical silver stored in vaults, which can be a good middle ground if you want ownership of physical silver without the storage hassle. As for the increase in demand, you're correct that silver has a growing industrial usage, especially in areas like solar panels, electronics, and medical devices. This industrial demand can drive up prices, making silver a potentially lucrative investment. However, always remember to diversify your investments and not to overexpose yourself to any single asset, including silver. It's also wise to consult with a financial advisor to align your investment choices with your overall financial goals and risk tolerance. Hope this helps, and happy investing!

You've been looking at investing in the mining of the metal, but you might want to invest in the metal itself. Others have recommended actually buying some metal and bringing it to your house, maybe under your bed or buried in the backyard. I don't know how much they are joking, but in case you want to invest in the price of gold itself and skip the shovel work, you can buy the price of gold with an ETF without having to do the physical stuff and guarding it with a shotgun. SGOL and a few others tracks the price of gold [https://www.aberdeenstandard.com/en-us/us/investor/fund-details/aberdeen-standard-physical-gold-shares-etf/common-stock/us00326a1043](https://www.aberdeenstandard.com/en-us/us/investor/fund-details/aberdeen-standard-physical-gold-shares-etf/common-stock/us00326a1043) That price is going to be the same as owning gold, minus the headaches. The expense ratio is 0.17%, likely cheaper than buying a shotgun and building a security perimeter around your home. Joking aside, you also get the typical conveniences of investing with an ETF: enter and exit at will with a few clicks, buy in fractions instead in gold bars, etc. Aberdeen Standard also has convenient ETFs for other metals. You can do SIVR for silver, or GLTR that combines 4 metals in a convenient basket.

I have to say commodities with higher rates of use and susceptibility to shortage would be better than Gold. Some examples: - Oil (BNO) - Agriculture (DBA) - Silver (SIVR) - Semiconductors (SMH) * THERE ARE OTHER ETFs IN THESE CATEGORIES THAN WHAT I'VE LISTED * There's nothing wrong with your analysis of Gold - it definitely does respond to inflation and money printing as you've suggested. However, there are other commodities that are as stable as Gold (under normal conditions), but have more variables that could push their price higher. Of course, this opens up the possibility for those variables to push the price down as well. However, these days the likelihood lies in favor of variables pushing them to the upside. Regulation, shortages, world wide events, etc. all make for good returns.

There will be a lot of disagreement from a lot of people on this, but my personal opinion- I am buying gold and silver. There are a lot of reasons to be buying physical metal right now, the regulations regarding banking and gold value change June 28 and there is a lot of upward momentum expected. Google "Basel III Gold Prices". The US mint just announced it can not meet sales demand due to a silver shortage, but the market hasnt moved, because there is no shortage of paper silver. The banks have been selling paper with abandon for decades, because nobody ever takes delivery of metals, they store it with the bank. That is changing in dramatic ways, and silver has a ton of industrial use in electric products and need for physical silver on an industrial scale is on a massive uptrend. There are lots of places in the precious metals sector to put money. I own $OUNZ, $PSLV $PHYS $SIVR and $SGOL which are all physical gold trusts, they just have a shit load of metal. My new play, however are the royalty companies- The cheapest gold is in the ground, but gold miners have operating costs and labor issues and law suits and rising costs, etc. A miner can have a huge year finding gold and make no money. The royalty companies provide money up front for a cut of the gold forever. The miner can make or lose money, doesnt matter, the royalty company gets 2% of the gold mined. The larger royalty companies own a cut of like 50 or 60 properties, and the shares of the bigger ones pay a dividend, with the idea that as the portfolio grows, so will the dividend. Right now I own $OR but will buy more when liquidity allows. There is also an ETF for the royalty companies $GOAU. If you want actual physical metal I like Kinesis. not advice do your own research biased opinion

I’ve been called worse than delusional. The last numbers I have show over the past 4 weeks SLV has added 42 million ounces, PHAG / SIVR / PMAG 6 million, PSLV 24 million, that’s 72 million ounces in 5 ETFs. The demand for those 80 million ounces a month is already there. https://www.silverinstitute.org/silver-supply-demand/ We don’t have to worry about industrial demand. We are just creating additional demand. It’s not that I don’t believe SLV doesn’t have the silver, just there are other seemingly shady things going on. JP Morgan downgrading silver miners... seems like they are intentionally trying to keep the price of silver low, seems like a conflict of interest to me. I don’t trust they are not manipulating the price in some way for their own benefit. Am I delusional? We will see. At some point this becomes economics 101, supply and demand. Maybe people see it as an undervalued asset in a world of bubbles. The price will rise as demand rises.

r/wallstreetbetsSee Comment

One thing that really important for me personally, is not to buy on margin. That way I will not be affected by raised margin requirements or margin calls. I also have a very long horizon. Like multiple years. I don't care so much about the day to day moves. Smackdowns are for buying in my world, if I can. And I will never personally touch SLV, SIVR or any other instrument, that I don't trust to actually back up their paper with documented intake of physical silver. I believe we are not far away from the point, where a lot of people will start thinking about taking some profit out of cr\*\*to and tech stonks. I think many of these people would like to find an alternative to being all cash. We are not there yet, so the inflows we are seing into metals not is something else. Probably mostly old metalbugs who are buying even more than usual? But suddenly main street will start to pay attention, and then it will really not take very long for the physical market to be completely wiped out, imo.
