Short Gas Price ETF? Does anyone know if there is a way to invest in an ETF that bets against the gasoline price? I'm hoping this is the end of the gas price bomb, although it likely won't be. It's down a couple % today. For instance, when I want to be on gas, I buy UGA.

I think those are all reasonable. I actually kind of wish I had gone for XOM because it gets exposure to distilled products which is why it's performing so well. They should print money as long as the crack spreads are up imo. I chose uso because I think it is specifically where the spr is pushing prices down. I think should the spr program halt wti would go back to being controlled only by the market and no longer even have the possibility of an intervention. Nature would take it's course That said I think UGA is a very interesting idea if you want to stay on the products side, but it's kind of illiquid. Using BNO to go after a Brent I think could be better than uso. But here's what I think is interesting. Did you know that Brent/uso as a chart have a pretty steady relationship? For pretty much all of their history Brent takes bigger moves and is worth more. There was a few days during the peak war where that relationship reversed. It was very brief and they started the spr releases not long after. What happens if it happens again and sticks? I have no idea. But it's interesting to me. USO BNO and XOM are the 3 I considered. Uso I chose because of that idea above and it's strong liquidity. A lot of energy financial products are illiquid and I don't want to get skewered with poor market conditions.

Still waiting for my UGA position to print

I took Management 599 at UGA under Curtis E. ‘Case a Day’ Tate. He wore cowboy boots with a tweed sportcoat, and drove an old Chevy truck with a CB radio. He talked to truck drivers and asked them about their loads-what, how much, where, when, and he liked to watch freight trains at the same crossing for the same reason. He said ‘you can predict the econony by watching the freight…’

I do combinations of tons of games. I do almost exclusively two team teaser's. (A teaser gives you the actual line plus 6 points in your favor) (In some cases I also use alternate lines or alternate stats like if a rcvr is set for 38 yards maybe I will buy over 25.5 yards and parlay that with a money line college football favorite anything to get close to somewhere between even money to -120ish.) So for example this past week, I bet on: Rams +3.5 Chargers +4 Washington -5 Chiefs +3.5 Eagles +2.5 Seattle and ATL over 41.5 Lions +8 Jaguars +0.5 Broncos/saints over 32.5 (I had detr/min over total but I forgot the number) UGA +9.5 Notre dame -7.5 BYU - 2 Oregon total under 66 Alot of those I would have lost with the normal line. But because I teased it I got a lot of wins that could have been losers with a single -110 side or total (And I bet a few others - those are the ones I remember off top of my head and a quick look at my paper). I made like 50+ different two team teaser's in a round robin style mix of all these different bets. Takes me a few hours to mix around all the bets.....but I don't really do it straight for two hours cause i don't really have an excel doc to mix them properly - I just do it based on which games are starting soon. Put in a couple bets. Watch a game for a bit do a couple more. Watch a bit do a few more. Etc. it's part of my afternoon routine both Saturday and Sunday. And I put in a few bets through out the week whenever I hear news that says my opinion on a game I will buy 4-5 teasers on that particular game. I write them all down and keep track on paper so I don't end up with too many copies of the same bet and risk too much on variance. Most folks say - it's dumb to play a teaser cause you need two things to happen - but when I run 50+ of them - I have like 3-4 versions of each bet so every one that misses I lose 3-4 bets. Everyone that wins I win 3-4 bets. But no one realizes how often the book makers are right on. You could literally bet every game. Bet both sides of every NFL game. Just the spread +6 (or some totals if you feel it's perfect) Last night if you bet a teaser on bucks and ravens - you had buccs +10.5 and ravens +1.5 results - ravens won by 10. You win both bets. If you had a teaser on chargers/Cardinals you had chargers + 4 or Cardinals +8 results - Cardinals won by 2. You win both bets. Cause the odds makers get it pretty close almost Everytime.(But not Everytime of course) And if you have +6 points in your advantage you would probably come out ahead every week. Add in there a little bit of sports knowledge and intuition to avoid a few losers and you can be profitable. Sometimes if a teaser would result in landing on a key number I will buy +6.5 or +7 instead of +6. (Like if real line is -3... +6 would give you +3. I need plus 3.5 for it to be a profitable play cause so many games are won by exactly 3 points) I had two weekends last year where I lost money. The other 16-17 weeks I was plus money. This year I am plus money on 6 of 7 weeks and the week I lost was because I bet too much on the Padres (baseball) as a gut feeling. Wasn't related to football at all. If I stick to my teasers game I do pretty well. I don't need subscribers. In fact I don't really enjoy sharing my complicated ass system because if the books saw thousands of people doing my system they might shut it down somehow or make teasers -150 instead of -120 or minus -130.

Re: investing in Gasoline (RB1!): What tracks the price of RB1! the closest, without actually investing in the actual RB1! futures contract? Or what would be the best way to invest in gasoline / RB1! , if one is bullish on gasoline for the next 6 months or so? It seems like the best tickers would be UGA, USO, or BNO, but wondering if there are any better options.

LIT looks like a pretty good value right now. IMHO there's 0 chance that there will be fewer batteries in the next 5 or 10 years than there are right now. Since the Covid dump, LIT and SPX have basically had the same performance to date, but LIT is down 50% from its ATH. This could be the time to scoop and wait. Or maybe split 50/50 LIT+UGA as a bet on future vehicular energy needs.

Don't sleep on gasoline as a commodity whose price can fluctuate wildly around the hurricane season. With so much oil refined in the gulf, a good Cat 3 or higher hurricane usually shuts down all the refineries for a short period even if there is no significant damage. Being the summer travel season, it can cause some price spikes. I try to get in about a week before landfall and sell right before landfall because the fear is usually worse than the reality. Due to the unpredictable nature of hurricanes, its a bit of a gamble as to whether or not they actually make it to the refinery rich region of the gulf. But it has been a pretty good play overall for me. (UGA calls) Pay special attention to those storms that originate in the Gulf, blow-up and then make landfall all with 48-72 hours. I have some tropical weather forums bookmarked and will check them frequently for mention of a storm. The real weather nerds are on top of it far before the national news media.

UGA is an ETF that may track gasoline. It uses RBOB front month futures. If I were doing it I would test my hunches about gas prices vs the price of UGA for a couple weeks to make sure it is moving the way I'm expecting. Or look back over the last few months at the price movement and compare that to what you thought it was going to do.

There is an international body called the FSB (Financial Stability Board) that monitors and provides recommendations to governments. Backwardation, RBOB futures are lower in future months and higher in front month. This usually happens when there is a shortage or if demand is higher than supply. UGA will outperform as long as this structure is sustained. The way it works is future months trend towards spot/front month every day, so a static 1 month futures ETF (or whatever the prospectus says it is) results in a portion of the futures contract held trending higher in value towards the higher spot price.

Former friend of mine who went off to UGA to study bio but got caught up retail trading. He made it up to $1.1 million in AUM but lost $750k during a market downturn, and then blew the remaining $250k in Vegas. They discussed it on this forum awhile back. He committed another fraud from behind prison walls and I’m exposing some of that in this as well.

I cringe typing the words "I'm hearing from a family friend who works in real estate" but from what she says a lot of the people who are buying at above or even pre market prices are subsidized by either a local business attempting to corner the housing market near potential "hot zones", or artificially create said hot zones by making only select areas affordable while gatekeeping others by pricing. Or it's people on loans expecting to flip for rent. Athens, GA has a similar issue because it's a college town where landlords are getting too greedy pushing the pricing up to the point where UGA students just won't stay out there, and that's their *literal prime market* since old retired folk want nothing to do with Athens beyond it being their home town.

I would say not necessarily exactly 50/50 , but close to it, especially if UGA loses to Ohio st, these are young kids and in huge games like that it’s really bad to predict because sometimes you don’t ever know how everything , hype media will affect them. I’m not saying TCU won’t win, or that it’s a dumb bet at all, in fact I would take the same bet if it’s them and Ohio st, I’m just saying comparing teams because of the results mutual team they both played doesn’t really factor into it imo, I’m no pro

Physical supply is short of demand, even before the war. But traders respond psychologically to recession headlines. So the price of crude changes as people —believe there will be a recession (they sell oil). These are headline-influenced traders. or —believe there will not be a deep enough slow-down to reduce oil demand (they buy oil). These are data-driven traders. It’s up to you and your crystal ball. I’m long oil in for long term: due to supply shortage However In short term, I am absorbing the pain of bear selloffs on my open position in XLE & UGA. Yet in short term, I’m buying the dip in small and large cap oil stocks, holding them for a rally, then selling them at profit. If you’re going short when there are a lot of headlines worrying the headline traders about a recession, you’ll be ok. Just watch out for “good news” if there’s a lot of headlines telling people the recession may not happen this year, or if there’s a slowdown it won’t be that bad, then oil will bounce back up. Watch the news about earnings reports. When earnings are beating the odds and coming in higher than expected, then traders respond with believing the recession won’t be that bad, and oil bounces back up. Good luck!

Last week, I knew the FOMC upcoming selloff would be bloody but since I moved into energy, corn, wheat, I believed my holdings would hold up, even that energy would show some gains, but in selloffs like this, everything gets sold. Wish I’d sold out during rally higgs last Wednesday. What was I thinking?? ? This morning Seeing the massive selloffs starting, Markets dropping fast across all indexes Even UGA gasoline index, which is stupid crazy for folks to sell right now! But I began selling fast, thinking “I’ll buy back later” I am so glad that I sold 1/3 of my holdings, HUSA energy at a profit of 33%. —Could have captured 78% gains last Wednesday but held as the rally dipped :( — dealing off 1/3 of holdings kept my total portfolio gains green for a while due to my HUSA realized gains, but HUSA gains only staunched half my day loss today. Silver lining: At least I’m 33% cash now. Some cash to buy the dip after FOMC drops its bomb on Wednesday. I refuse to sell my remaining corn, wheat, XLE, UGA (gasoline) stocks because they will come back. This hurts so much!

Guess it’s time for me to sell $UGA. It’s cool, I’ve already doubled my money since January!

My “cash” is in energy ETFs mostly: XLE, UGA XLE dropped but am still in green overall. UGA did really well for a red day. What’s really doing well is a small cap energy stock pick HUSA I bought very low a week ago and it could not go lower. Maybe that’s the kind of play that works in this treacherous market. Buy so low that it can’t go lower. I like to scan my Watch List on really red says to see what’s surviving well among stocks I always like, even though am not currently holding them. I want to buy them again but only after the market drops to pre-2020 levels. And after the Fed is finished with QT. I’m going to start a shorting program in about 10 days after my new computer larger screen is arrived and set up. Until then I am not shutting because my old eyes need bigger screen real estate. Sigh. I’m sorry to be a bear, but that’s the market we are given. I’ll only at first be a day trader with leveraged funds, though. I do not expect to hold leveraged positions overnight. Or if I do, the positions would be a very small percent of my portfolio. What was interesting to me on Friday was the V-shape rebound midday for some small cap energy and a couple tech stocks. Particularly ON. It looked to me like that very smooth V rebound had to be done very large Algo BUY LIMIT orders got filled. I’ve heard institutional investors are watching small caps to scoop up some likely candidates for huge surges in price. Energy small caps are likely candidates IMO, but I’m pretty clueless sometimes, so take this all with a grain of suspicion. It’s going to continue to be choppy for some months. That’s for sure.

Technical analysis, at best, has a couple percentage points of edge **in day trading**. Trying to use it to predict an entire summer is just astrology Especially when so many fundamentals are bearish. Most notably: insane gas prices. Transportation is the bedrock of the economy, and gas is like $5/gallon. And I think it’s just gonna keep running until fall, the end of peak driving season. OPEC+ is trying to up production, but that won’t do shit. Especially while russian oil is so heavily embargoed Positions: UGA $80c 7/15. A week ago, it was $70c. Then I rolled to $75. Then I rolled to $80. Printing money the whole way. At this point, I’m just playing with house money, and will probably end up rolling to $85 next week Anyone long energy commodities will be drowning in money. Anyone who’s listening to mr. “bear stearns is fine” will be drowning in semen behind wendy’s

I had so many O&G calls that I sold into the weekend. USO, UGA, XLE, XOP. Dammit. Made about 50% on them, but I'm kicking myself now.

I am a bot. You submitted a picture of a banned ticker, UGA. The market cap of UGA is **32364000** This check will fire if you included unnecessary pictures that have bad phrases or a bad crop with news about cryptocoins, for example. Repost with the useless pictures omitted if you did that. Yell at /u/zjz if it's above 1 billion-ish market cap and not related to crypto/pennies/OTC.

It’s something like “UGA Custodial blah blah random words”. Basically it’s under your parents name until you turn 18 where it gets transferred to you, but you can still trade/invest yourself before you are 18. If you need any more help dm me, I went through the same thing a couple years ago.

It happens about as often as the Gamecocks beat UGA - it’s not impossible, but you’re a retard if you expect it often.
