The CARES Act, is a $2.2 trillion economic stimulus bill passed by the 116th U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Donald Trump on March 27, 2020

Mentions:#CARES
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

You some how ignore the fact that the bills were drafted and presented by Republicans and that basically the entirety of both parties in chambers voted in favor of the passing of the CARES act and many of the coronavirus acts during the Trump era. The final draft of the CARES act had a 96 to 0 Yes vote in the Senate and 419 yes votes and only 6 no votes in the House. It wasn’t solely a democratic measure at all.

Yeah Trumps full of shit and has been for decades, that’s nothing new. But I’m not sure what any of that has to do with the fact the CARES act was sponsored by the Senate Republican Minority Leader (at the time) Mitch McConnell, as well as being cosponsered by all Republican reps: Senators Alexander, Rubio, Crapo, Grassley, Shelby and Wicker. Your original comment stated the Democrats and Biden were solely responsible for Covid relief money which is factually incorrect.

Mentions:#CARES
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Trump also requested more money of Congress toward direct stimulus payments and was denied. Trump could’ve vetoed any of the bills if he or the Republican party wanted to take a stance against it but he signed them. Primarily because all of the bills he signed for Covid relief were largely bipartisan, the majority of Republicans in congress supported them when Trump was in office. The CARES act was sponsored by Mitch McConnell, but please continue to tell me how those spending measures were purely the democrats doing. Not sure why you’re bringing up the war in Ukraine as that’s completely off topic of Covid relief spending. As I previously stated I believe both Trump and Biden are garbage presidents. But spreading falsehoods or partial truths doesn’t help anyone.

I’m sorry, who was the serving president from January 2020 through January 2021? Last time I checked it was Trump. And the Trump administration were the ones who “printed” more than half of the Covid relief money. Trump signed: • $8.3B Coronavirus Prepardness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act which went into effect March 6, 2020 • $192B for Families First Coronavirus Response aft on March 18, 2020 • $2.2T CARES Act on March 27, 2020 • Then another $483B on the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enchancement Act and in Dec 2020 another $900B in the Consolidated Appropriations Act. While Biden signed: • $1.9T on the American Rescue Plan act of 2021 which was the 5th and final phase of covid relief measures. Don’t get me wrong, their both terrible Presidents and both parties are awful for different reasons. But your ability to see things in a completely inaccurate manner is staggering.

POV: I hold both, have been investing in this crypto experiment since 2017, ran two blockchain start-ups, international blockchain speaker, believe in this tech and invest heavily in it, hold plenty of bags as well as the usual big boy coins. Here's my two sats: Community. The BTC community is mean. BTC maxis are hard to be around. ETH community is esoterically brilliant and it's an easy place to feel intimidated. Neither talk about day to day usage yet we as a society are daily spenders (I'm talking about the majority here, not saavy traders nor people deep in the tech). A DCA into Doge feels safer and is like ringing the bell at your local Arby's or Texas Roadhouse--there is instant appreciation and a wholesome feel good response from a genuinely kind ecosystem of a looooooota people. People DCA into their iphone every month when they make that payment. Same, their fancy car. It's a monthly membership into a neato club that Elon and Snoop and Cuban are all part of. That feels good. Maybe it goes up in value as a sweet bonus. It's a crypto that's widely accepted --and one that feels good to spend. How many people would willingly spend BTC/ETH on a jersey or mattress or car? Spending Doge/Shib isn't risking millions for your future self. It's easy to get to house money. A DCA quickly gets to a place where pulling profits out makes sense. A DCA strategy is used by people who aren't traders. They're not trying to time the market. (And right now, 34% seems like a damn good return!! I'd take that all winter!) Understanding WHO DCAs helps to explain their next steps. They're gonna HODL some, pull profits, and buy stuff. Honestly, who CARES about the tech if I can "send an email." By that I mean 97% of the world could give a shit about how the Internet works, if it's secure, what needs to happen daily to keep it running; they just want to send an email, scroll memes, and read the news. Same, blockchain tech. Plus, anyone who bought at $0.70 lowers their average coin price every time they DCA at $0.08. And who's to say they're not ALSO DCAing into BTC and ETH, etc? This is all still an experiment. Pretending like BTC and ETH (and ADA and XRP and and and) are risk free investments and somehow better than anything else is foolish (BTC is still inCreDibLy centralized; now add Microstrategy and BlackRock and Craig Wright). Yes, based on what we know today, they seem like the best place to park fiat. We have NO idea what the next 3/5/13 years are going to bring. If there's one thing we've learned about crypto it's that there's no telling what the future holds; the only guarantee is surprise. Might as well have fun along the way. This turned out way longer than I'd anticipated; apologies for that. I'm open to being wrong about all of this.

I'm alright with all your points. There isn't much to argue. I'm saying there are problems with fiat but *bitcoin isn't a magic bullet either*. Maybe it would be better though. At this point I wouldn't be against giving it a try because we don't have much to loose**.** I think very soon there will be a major restructuring of the monetary system anyway. >I'm fine settling on what I said above that a bitcoin-run economy would not allow free printing of supply, whether it be fractional reserve or imaginary fiat. Above is what I have a problem with. My view isn't popular but I don't believe the federal reserve prints money the way everyone thinks they do. Money doesn't come from the federal reserve, it comes from the private banking system via loans by business, individuals and the government. The F.R. controls short term interest rates, bank reserves, reserve requirements and a few other things. When the F.R. "prints money" what they are really doing is printing bank reserves out of thin air. The problem? Bank reserves aren't money. You can't go buy a gallon of gas with bank reserves. Those reserves must be loaned into existence to become money. Besides emergency measures: the F.R is restricted by the Federal Reserve Act. They were very intentionally **NOT** given the right to print money at will and spend it. Consider the Great Financial Crisis. Why did the F.R. go before congress and beg them to pass TARP? Why didn't the Fed just print the money? Because they can't. Consider the CARES ACT. Why didn't the Fed just print the money then too? Sadly, we all owe the government debt of trillions of dollars now. You, me, my grandkids, all owe. U.S. Bonds (debt) were sold by the treasury *in the open market*. Whatever bonds were bought by the Fed were purchased from the primary dealers (banks) and those incoming funds went on their balance sheet as bank reserves. (to the best of my understanding) So there is no such thing as money out of thin air. Debt is always created anytime money is created. I don't see how money can be created unless debt is also created at the same time. Therefore, if bitcoin is base money, it has to have some scarcity so people want it. This would create demand and create the need for the economy to borrow bitcoin. If nobody needed to borrow bitcoin because everyone had enough to satisfy their needs then why would it have value? Note; Obviously I subscribe to *the debt theory of money.* The point is this: All else being equal, I'm not so sure it really makes much of a difference if the base money is fiat, gold, bitcoin or whatever else.

That's because if it was Ron doing it, it would be truly genuine and not just grandstanding. Senator Cruz voted for the CARES Act and has voted for many stimulus bills and omnibus budgets that run large deficits. Dr. Paul never would vote for such. There's a huge difference between those two. Look I applaud Mr. Cruz' efforts. But make no mistake - he's just grandstanding and trying to look good. When it really matters, he doesn't vote for freedom nor liberty.
