False AND a garbage take. Hard to do in one post. You may not be familiar with this concept known as freedom, but Floridans chose to exercise it. IF someone got covid and died, they did so because that was their CHOICE.

Let me get this straight You're asking us, if we're gonna keep buying something that seemingly is programmed to always rise in value given enough time AFTER is gets monstrous exposure to an absurd amount of money? HMMMMMMMMMMMM TOUGH CHOICE RIGHT?

Not really. It comes down to taking responsibility for your choices regardless of what tools are available. None of this hard hitting information will change many people's opinions of Kraken. Most of us can read Krakens terms. If we chose to leverage at Kraken we can observe the tools they have or don't have to help us. Most of us accept that if an adult picks up a potential financial time bomb BY CHOICE its on us to make sure we're prepared.

Vaccines are a CHOICE in a free country. Either you take them and they work for you. You take them and they give you a heart attack or stroke. You don't take them and you build natural immunity. You don't take them and you die. There's no communal reason for mandating vaccines.... IF THEY WORK.

all the people saying its not necessary are living in 1st world countries and are unaware of how the rest of the world struggle with censorship , government corruption, inflation , limited rights and lack of financial sovereignty . crypto gave us a CHOICE we didn't have otherwise ! its not about numbers go up its about freedom and alternatives :) this is a real problem that only crypto has managed to solve .

I already knew information was not good for average people but I didn’t know what caused it or what the solution was… I actually thought the solution was gold and I never considered the possibility of the problem of TRUSTING the government not to lie about their paper to gold reserves…. After I understood the properties of bitcoin, it was not just the clear choice BUT THE ONLY LOGICAL CHOICE.

Actually there was already a (quite constructive) discussion on this topic in /science sub. [https://www.reddit.com/r/science/comments/xrd53i/bitcoin\_mining\_is\_just\_as\_bad\_for\_the\_environment/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/science/comments/xrd53i/bitcoin_mining_is_just_as_bad_for_the_environment/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) Which again just highlights how much energy bitcoin mining spent, not HOW WE GENERATE ENERGY. My point is how we use the (already generated) energy is OUR CHOICE. IF, ONLY IF, the energy is generated cleanly, bitcoin mining itself is NOT BAD for environment. Meaning, if bitcoin mining is bad or not is depending on HOW WE GENERATE ENERGY.

The people with the most Bitcoin wealth are incentivised to do what it takes to learn to be their own bank. Those with tiny amounts don't need to go to the trouble. They can use "bitcoin banks" to make it easy. One such option, currently, is Wallet of Satoshi, which is a custodial lightning and on-chain wallet: the total balance is mixture of both types, which is normally impossible, but WoS gives the user that illusion of a mixed wallet, and a beautiful experience. It is KYC-free and back up with email. The caveat is that it's custodial, but you're not supposed to put your life savings in it, so it's a fine trade-off. For life savings, you should take responsibility and learn to use a wallet like Sparrow with a hardware wallet device. There are plenty of free resources made by Bitcoiners. I am one of those, and the resources are here: [armantheparman.com](https://armantheparman.com) being your own bank is not easy, that's why banks are in business. Not just, they have a monopoly, but that will disappear and people will have the CHOICE to be their own bank - no one is forced.

Well here's truth of it: You are investing in the riskiest asset class. There is no perfect solution, you either accept the risk, accept that your money is not safe and YOU are consciously choosing to put your money into a place where there is a real risk of you losing it all, or you move it somewhere where there's no risk of losing it. That's what risk management is. >What exchange can you vouch for, that will never ever lose a trading-accounts money for any reason? >There are none. Correct. So if you know that, but you still keep your money on the exchange, how do you have no accountability? Take the risk seriously. >What could they have done differently? How is them using the exchange as it was intended, anything that makes it their own fault? They could have not held their money on the exchange, they could have chosen to stop trading for a while because the risk was too high. Traders are traders by CHOICE, nobody is forcing anybody to be a trader, nobody is forcing anybody to keep their money on unregulated crypto exchanges with no transparency. If you hold money on an exchange, you are risking your money. If you're not comfortable with that risk, then you shouldn't have your money on the exchange. That's honestly all there is to it. Accept the risk or remove it, and when the risk doesn't pay off, accept that you chose to take the risk even though you knew this was a possibility. Take accountability.

Why not create an environment where the consumer has the CHOICE between regulated and non regulated platforms? It doesn't have to be one or another. You could for example regulated centralized exchanges but keep decentralized ones and other projects unregulated.

Its literally the price to pay for living in our society. All of the costs associated with it. Your just paying your dues to all the built apon progress that we all share. Unless you go live out in the boons by yourself and remake all your own society/infrastructure. You dont get to complain. That is YOUR CHOICE in this transaction. I doubt any libertarian would decide to make that choice either. Just spoiled karens complaining about contributing to the greater whole.

This is ridiculous. Believing in Bitcoin has nothing directly to do with not believing in a dollar. The whole point is that you now HAVE A CHOICE where previously you didn't. Many people in government certainly wouldn't like you to have that choice, but many do as we have seen repeatedly with high ranking senators and congressman. That being said the US Dollar is still a primary means of transaction and savings among billions of people in the world and remains the world's reserve currency. By all means put your money and faith in Bitcoin but ignoring the US Dollar's power and electing idiots like this that want to destroy it is short-sighted and self-defeating.

It's easy to blame other people for your reckless decisions, but ultimately you are responsible for your own actions. The fact is you made a series of incredibly stupid choices, got burned, are now trying to blame other people for those choices, AND STILL ASKING FOR ADVICE FROM THE VERY PEOPLE YOU'RE BLAMING IN HOPES THEY WILL VALIDATE YET ANOTHER INCREDIBLY STUPID CHOICE. Honestly, the best thing you can probably do is sell everything you have, close all your credit cards, give all your money to your mother and beg her to help you dig yourself out of this hole you dug for yourself with your stupid choices.

Obviously.. this is why I was clearly referring to Bitcoin, the network.. 3rd parties holding other's Bitcoin does NOT CENTRALIZE THE NETWORK. Everyone knows their shit can be frozen when someone else is holding it for you, they simply don't believe it will happen to them and would rather trust "in a higher power" so to speak, so that they can avoid having to think. This does not invalidate the network and its capabilities, the network in this time will be brimming with other individuals who take full advantage of seperating themselves from the state and from institutions, but because this is about FREEDOM and CHOICE, you can never keep out the wolves and the sheep, it's that simple. Wolves and sheep doing their dance has nothing to do with Bitcoin, the network. The 21m supply cap of Bitcoin is a mathematical fact and a secure one, it's an even better one than Gold! Which has an unknown supply on the Earth, and a potentially infinite supply depends on what exists throughout the rest of the universe, plus, the possibility of being able to manufacture the element perfectly through some futuristic science. Why would you say no self-custody? There already is and always will be widespread self-custody thanks to Bitcoin, I have been talking about the common masses who will opt to hand over their keys, but the reality is they are small and insignificant cogs in this machine. Gold not having a bottleneck? THE SHIT IS NOT DIGITAL! Gold is bottlenecked by the laws of physics itself. Digging holes in the ground and/or hiding chests and safes full or gold is LESS SECURE than Bitcoin.

> you start needing a middle man to enforce the agreement One of the main premises of Bitcoin is that it allows for removal of middle men. Say I want to buy a something mildly expensive at a local store / craigslist. Most people will use a bank transfer or a credit card for anything other than the cash they may want to carry on their person. Bitcoin allows digital transactions, and the off-site "storage" of coins (on the blockchain), to be carried about by every person without the need for a bank or a credit company. Yes, I still go to Walmart, Best Buy, McDonalds, plenty of other local stores, Facebook Marketplace, and all sorts of other in-person payments. Of course, I also use the internet and purchase things online. Bitcoin adoption allows me to have a CHOICE in this situation. I could use a credit company that handles Bitcoin for anything I thought was risky or we could talk about blockchain escrow options. I could use a credit company or I could move to L2 for small value transactions. And the simple existence of Bitcoin is a global competitive driver pushing the price of these other options lower.

Who said anything about money laundering? I'm taking MY wealth, a deciding what to do with it. You don't decide what I do with it. Nor does anyone else. Period. Bitcoin doesn't rely on more friendly jurisdictions, I MAKE THE CHOICE to look for those because it is important to me, and mine. It's about choice. **It's about sovereignty over one's wealth.** If one jurisdiction isn't in line with my ideals, I will take my wealth and invest in one that is. Having said that, the time for borders is equally coming to a close. One should look for Bitcoin-friendly jurisdictions in order to have an environment in which to thrive, whilst investing in the world, rather than just locally.

tldr; Consumer advocacy group CHOICE has submitted a proposed regulatory framework for cryptocurrency exchanges operating in Australia. The group called for a single definition of crypto for better regulation, a license for exchanges in line with current financial licensing, and for them to be bound by consumer protection laws to prohibit things like misleading advertising. It also called for measures to prevent fraudulent payments and reimburse customers when they occur. *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. Great post! Inflation as a currency requirement is a fucking LIE. Currency does not have to inflationary to work well. If you have a CHOICE of two currencies and one is inflationary you are an idiot not to spend that one first. Somehow that is conflated with people believing markets will collapse if we dare to fix our currencies. If we only had deflationary currencies people will still buy stuff. It’s common sense. Elites perpetrate this stuff so they can continue to manipulate and steal from us. Inflationary currency is worse than deflationary currency in every way.

Bitcoin has some Divine Providence, for sure. There are faces, but THEY. DON'T. MATTER. Hence, the quotation marks around "faces". I have a feeling like you don't really understand how PoW works? There's no CHOICE to accept or reject a transaction, like you think there is (via a cartel of miners). NOBODY gets a say in what is or isn't accepted, beyond the random guessing that just might so happen to stumble upon the correct block hash. It's the only honest form of money that has ever [and most likely WILL EVER] exist. Once you get people involved, making decisions AT ALL, you're going down a flawed path.

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

While I agree with you to some degree, put yourself in the mindset of those who are making some money AND the government is STEALING it via INFLATION that is out of control. If you are NOT moving what little money you have into crypto, then you will lose MORE. Life is about choices. If someone does not give a crap about crypto and puts trust in FIAT government currency, then that is his CHOICE. So keep trusting in government if that is what you want do. Some of us might choose differently.

I think we need to start shying away from the expectation of centralised exchanges run buy businesses that do businessy things for businessy motives.... to upheld decentralised principles. Like i said in a recent thread - Bitcoin (not necessarily the whole of crypto) gives you the CHOICE to trade using decentralised principles. Working that into a centralised ecosystem is not something that we should be expecting on a plate - and certainly isn't something we should rely on a centralised exchange to uphold. If we choose to use a middle-man in the form of an exchange, we then are subject to the exchange's motives.
