This is a good and a bad idea. It’s good, because it would protect against a $5 wrench attack, where an attacker enters your house and starts beating you and your loved ones with a $5 wrench until you dig up your entire seed phrase. Having an AB-BC-AC setup, buried or stored at different locations, preferably time locked vaults, would be ideal. It would also protect against the ‘inside job risk’ that vaults have. Most attacks on vaults are inside jobs. With this setup, vault X and vault Y so hi of have to collaborate and steal your seedphrase. Pretty safe you might think. So why is this a bad choice? Well, you have decreased the amount of words an attacker needs to guess. You went from 256 bits of entropy, to something like 80 bits of entropy. So practically you went from an attacker needing millions of years to needing about ten and quite rapidly decreasing. Not if you are a maker, only if you are a taker. Takers get charged 7x more in fees than makers on Bisq based on last I checked. Plus any unregulated Centralized crypto exchange (almost all of them) can fuck you over without you knowing by constantly taking advantage of arbitrage opportunities, faking volume trading back and forth with themselves, using their insider view of the books to know when they can make certain trades that will create a chain of liquidations to take place to profit, giving themselves and their insiders preferential trade execution status, and so many more devious/scammy things that effectively get you shittier trade executions and you would be *better off* making trades for larger fees on exchanges that are ethical and execute trades like how a reputable and regulated non-payment for order flow equity broker/exchange would execute. Not to mention the off chance a CEX just goes bankrupt while you have funds on exchange. Like that hasn’t happened before. I still admittedly will use a CEX now and then, but don’t just go with the lowest fee and ignore everything else, plus after I buy I GTFO to self custody ASAP.

A CEX you “trust” to just buy with and the GTFO into self-custody typically will charge the same total amount of fees if you make one $2,500 or ten $250 purchases or one hundred $25 purchases.
