Makes ya feel any better I'm all over the map. But I love the whole cryptosphere. I'm playing with L2s, L1s, staking, defi, etc etc... so it's almost necessary to have a bunch of cryptos if actually using their associated ecosystems. ALGO alone has me on 6 different ASAs (algo ecosystem tokens). Albeit MICRO positions, they are still something I've looked into further. Even $5 worth. It's all relative to how you exist in the space.

Because my friends are largely financially illiterate and cryptocurrencies/blockchain technology are a way to breadcrumb them into learning about how to manage “investment” money. They’re way less interested in stocks and more interested in crypto (despite being not very interested in either) because it has different applications than just “grow dollar value”. It’s not just an investment and this person is interested in learning the tech, but had expressed that they just can’t get past the barrier to learning about it enough to where they would buy some to play with. Cryptocurrencies aren’t even close to only being investments. We’ll begin to see major video games and even non-gaming companies creating tokenized products that begin to creep into so many different niches of society and will likely have blockchain wallet integrations. Learning how this stuff works is going to be helpful once it does happen. Giving them some crypto helps give them something to familiarize them with through use. So in summary: want to help friends understand how markets work, how to manage their own MICRO portfolio because stocks don’t interest them (learn through use for portfolio management), and to help them break down the barrier to learning about the tech through using it. It’s hard to learn crypto/blockchain unless you use it, and many aren’t willing to put a cent into it. Does this response help satisfy your uneasiness about my post? You’re oversimplifying and it seems to come from a place of inexperience. You have layer 1 technology (physical layer in the osi model). Think of this like the electrical signals your computer sends. To say that 1 computer sends electrical signals faster than another computer would be over simplified. You need to know more to decide which is best. Lightning network on bitcoins blockchain allows for instant (millisecond) settlements with micro fees measured as MICRO satoshis. Less than 0.00000001 BTC.
