I havent owned an ETF since 2021 and that was ARKG and ARKF. I am one of those people that think I am smarter than everyone and try to go contrarian and beat the market. Ive been bearish equities since late 2021 and have made a lot of money with some weird plays, but have always been very overconcentrated. And thats why I have set my rules, because my overconcentration has killed me this year. From up 29% YTD in Jan to -13% YTD now.
\> but I’ve done well with ARKF ARKF is breakeven for this bull year, and a loser for five years. For you to have "done well" with it, you had to get in at the right time. Its history suggests you now have to get out when it is not doing well. \> So is there a better fintech fund I'm no fan but would you consider LEGR "fintech"?
I sold all of my ARKK and ARKF yesterday. I was holding for like 5 years and finally was about even. I threw it all in VOO
There's others with more concentrated risk to private credit. Especially pay to own fin tech like ARKF, the ETF.
Not sure about most of her funds, but I’m a fan of ARKF. Bullish on that one

Just broke even on the ARKF shares I bought 4.5 years ago thanks mama Cathie 🙏
I feel like it all depends on amount sunk/lost. If it’s a few hundred in a portfolio of a few thousand. I’d just hold out and see what happens if it was a majority of my portfolio I’d cut my losses. I use that logic in my for fun portfolio, my retirement I don’t mess around but my brokerage I picked some individual stocks to play and learn. Picked some winners and some big losers. I’ve held them all to watch, and actually my ARKF just turned back to green after a few years. I’ve just been riding it and watching. Debating selling and moving it to something more stable but mostly just like watching and adding other things to funds.
Exactly. “Fintech wins. Fintech always wins” makes some us who watched the demise of the once lauded ARKF laugh. That basket of “Well-curated names” lost 80% of its value from 2021-2022 and still is down 15% from its peak. Some of us have been doing this for more than a couple of months. 🤷🏼♂️
I read that sam altman headline, shook my head, and went and sold ARKQ, ARKF and some other winners from the year on Friday. If that dude thinks he's on the only winning boat and doesn't need the others rowing, he's about to find out. I've been rotating into cash, utilities, real estate and international. Expect some of the international markets to get beat up with impact from US idiocy, but overtime will become more resilient and anywhere is going to grow (especially in real terms) faster than the US economy and its friggin Chucky Bucks currency once Powell is replaced.
Just woke up from coma. How are my safey bets ARKK ARKF doing
ARKF up 120% yr to date is Cathie Wood back? Giving me Wood!
Great sector. I didn’t want to pick just one so went in on ARKF. Long term hold. Doing great!
Is she getting good? Ark Invest Daily data showed that Cathie Wood's ARK Invest sold a total of 415,844 Circle shares on June 23, including **306,921 shares through the ARKK fund**, 72,302 shares through the ARKW fund, and 36,621 shares through the ARKF fund.
Best meam ETF ARKF.. Finally killing it!
Funny cathie woods has most of these in $ARKF. Dutch Bros is pretty solid I sold that August 2024. Damn it. I've been on the sidelines for PLTR. There's a dude on YouTube that pushes all these stocks you mentioned especially SoFI. Shopify is the best of the group.
Don't feel too bad, it's $85 at IPO. Of course 2022 looks like a perfect entry point but so was a broad index when 2022 was bleeding -30% for NASDAQ. If you put ARKF on your watchlist you can watch all those fintech stocks a bit. Out of the group Shopify was the biggest move for me but it also trying to reach it's highs. ARKF long term hold will kill you. Buts it's a nice ETF to trade. It was on alot of subscription recommendations when it cleared $48. https://preview.redd.it/7gxvay1nmuie1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=74639d359a49a10fe82ad614037b5c33c78255b6
I have a watchlist of non-leveraged ETFs on Barchart that I scan occasionally, so I just now took a look. I sorted by 52-week performance, then looked at the Mini-Chart View on a 5-year scale. Not that I'm looking for a good 5y trend, but a good year or two trend, and the 5y view tends to smooth things out. Some that look good to me, in no particular order: ARKW, ARKF, ONLN (very low volume though), FNGS, XLF, XLC Take a look at their charts and see what you think. And when you buy an ETF (or stock), put a Trailing Stop Loss order on it, maybe 10%. Buy them when they're doing well, sell them when they stop, that kind of thing.
that's probably a good idea... but some of my real stinkers ended up being great or not bad after I gave them a year or two (PLTR, ARKF) granted some of my other bad investments just kept sinking to lower and lower levels
bro me too ARKK ARKF and also PLUG
ARKF up 77% 1Y. Dumbest thing I ever invested in
ARKF is up 43% in the last 3 months
ARKF is up 72% in the last year
Cathy will always be one of my favourite people on Wall St!! I bought ARKG right at the peak on my first week of investing. I actually bought a LEAP on it instead of stock because leverage is power!!! (Insert Tim Allen here). Thought I was a genius!! It's now down 80% from that number and my LEAP has long expired worthless (actually saved me from downside vs holding stock, that how bad it did). Now, I started with a limited budget and I've since pumped a heap more cash into the market with much bettwr results and will do for a long time to come, so I am so damn thankful to Cathy for teaching me that lessen in year one, on my modest budget compared to learning it in year 12 on a MUCH bigger budget. FWIW I do still hold 100 shares of ARKF for covered call purposes because the IV on it is very tidy and it's been working very well in the recovery, so I'm not complete out of the CW ecosystem, but it won't be long before I let those get assigned and move on completely.
2020 I was all cash until around late may where i went big on ARKF and ARKG. Sold most of those in Jan 2021 the day before the top somehow. Then lost on MU and was cash for most of 2021 until sept where I want all in on BTU and averaged down and held through 2022 while trading in and out. 2023 on I have mostly been cash and EOSE and admittedly underperformed the market like crazy in 2023 as I was bearish during a nonsense bubble. 2024 I went big big big on EOSE in June in the 0.60s. AMPY has been a more recent thing traded it a couple of times but long it now because of their insane output on the new wells and their FCF to EV is absurd
I thought I could go in calls today but nah: On Monday local time, Cathie Wood's Ark Investment Management continued to buy stocks of cybersecurity company CrowdStrike, which fell for two consecutive days due to a massive outage, with a cumulative decline of 23%. Two Ark funds, ARKF and ARKW, under Ark Investment, purchased a total of 20,219 shares of CrowdStrike's stocks that day. Based on the closing price of $263.91 that day, the investment is worth about $5.34 million. After the outage last Friday, two Ark ETFs purchased 38,595 shares of CrowdStrike's stocks, worth approximately $13.24 million
Even after your post on CRWD!!!!! I'm still trying to sell ARKF

Cathie Wood. The most significant trade of the day involved the purchase of 38,595 shares of cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:CRWD), valued at approximately $13.24 million, with the shares being acquired through both the ARKW and ARKF ETFs.

I took the L. My situation was much like yours. I can’t remember ever being up on ARKK, ARKF, ARKG, or ARKX - so it was around the peak. Sold it all at the start of 2024. Lesson learned. Good riddance. Moved on. I think I rolled it all into SPY and QQQ.
Bahahaha. I did that to ARKF except because i was still bullish on Cathy at the time and wanted to remind myself which fund is buy next. 60.37 cost vs current price of 27.39. I thankfully never did buy more.
\~1.8 million. Made a small fortune during the COVID rally mainly with the free money glitch (SPACs). LCID pre-merger was my biggest win with about 300k of profit (would have doubled if I held a little longer). Then got heavy in monthly calls dated 3-6 months out with ARKF and TAN which appreciated a lot as well as a couple penny stocks that turned into big winners during that blow-off top of early 2021. Was highly leveraged with multiple six figure up days. Those etf options and penny stocks that were gold mines quickly turned to landmines when things went south and the bear market came. Basically went broke...but slowly working my way back now.
I sold 50% of my ARKG and ARKF on literally the day of their peak back in Jan 2021. Pure luck. Sold the remainder when ARKF had a little rally up to 54. Pure luck
RDDT fckd "Cathie Wood's ARK Invest acquired 9,982 Reddit shares, Reuters reported, citing an email from the asset manager. The shares were added to ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW) and ARK Fintech Innovation ETF (ARKF), the report said."
Back in the early 2021 bubble I had Dec 2021 calls on ARKF that I was up like 3k and didn’t sell. I was about a month into options. Bruh I’m up 500$ now and I’m selling them h0es.
As an ARKF investor, I do everything opposite of what Mommy Cathy says.
Going long on ARKF, AMKR, APLD, IONQ, and UMC Data Centers, Quantum Physics, and Chip Manufacturers These are all at entry level positions poised for bigs gains in the year(s) ahead.
If I had to try and guess are more fundamental reason it would that Stoneco is a Cathie wood style pick (she owns it in ARKF) as a high growth Brazilian fintech, not really BRK normal cup of tea exactly kind of surprised they owned any tbh
I’m same. But with a a huge loss in BB, ARKF, and QS. What the biggest pos ever.
Popular != Smart. ARKK is up 6% over 5 years. ARKG is up 4%. ARKF is up 25%. ARKQ is up 40%. ARKQ is up 60%. SPY is up 80%. QQQ is up 154%. Yeah. She's brilliant.
24M/ Engineer I invested in these funds a really long time ago and was reviewing my sheet. Not sure whether I should keep these over the next 1-3 years. Could anyone let me know what they think for each? Also how do i even fathom where to start to make the decision to keep/give it up? 10K invested in each : * ARKF * ARKG * ARKQ * ARKW * ICVT * PTH * XBI thanks
You’re doing well bro. Anyone buying $ARKF at the age of 13 is gonna do well.
ARKF is already like 13% coin that’s enough crypto exposure for me
ARKF. Up 27% in the last month. Now I'm only -53% from where I bought in. Lmaoooo
Back a few years ago, I bought random ETFs / stocks that I knew nothing about. Such as ARK and stocks like Ford, Etsy, or Disney, basically things I saw on random articles or posts on reddit. I don't do that anymore. Shortly after that, I only bought things such as SPY and VTI. Now, SPY and VTI have been doing well, and I'm happy I've been buying them. But, looking at my old purchases of ARKF, ARKG, ARKK, ARKX, (and some other low performing EFTs), etc ... my cost basis was about 1000 dollars for them. Now, let's say I lost 500 dollars on them since then. Do I sell them for a loss, and take 500, and buy 1 share of SPY? Does it make sense for me to go through all my stocks/ETFs that I've lost money on for the past couple years, sell them at a loss, and take all of it and dump it into my better ETFs?
Back in June *ARK bought 419,324 shares of Coinbase, worth around $21.6 million based on Tuesday's closing price of $51.61. The buy was split across ARK's Innovation ETF (NYSE:ARKK), the Next Generation Internet ETF (NYSE:ARKW), and the Fintech Innovation ETF (NYSE:ARKF)*. Crypto alts a few years ago. ARKF (down close to 60% now), JMIA
I will tell you a great TSLA story. I know the guy but not personally or friends. Years ago when TSLA went IPO this guy bought thousands of shares. I cannot remember the amount exactly. During the pandemic at near peak value of TSLA he said I had a great run and need to lighten up on TSLA. I think he said he was to liquidate all and invest with this great money manager. ALL in that is on her funds. His TSLA holdings worth 10 million in 12/2020. These are the funds he bought. 2 million bucks per fund. ARKG - +427% in last 5 years ARKF - +153% in last 5 years ARKW - +553% in last 5 years ARKK - +551% in last 5 years ARKQ - +305% in last 5 years They call that Schadenfreude. However this guy is a big player. I mean mega. Multi millions in cars, real estate etc. He can handle the financial sting. But everyone thought his as a stock picking genius. What it was it, luck, and the ability to handle the losses if that TSLA sotck he originally bought went to zero. He didnt see a single share until 2020. He bought all those funds at all time highs and all destroyed. I assume he still holds them. He is not the kind of guy to give up. Even worse there is do much overlap in that hot dung that if one of them worked out, most likely they all would.
When to exit ARK positions? I started investing in early 2020, so I'm fairly new to investing. During the time I bought a bunch of ARK positions including ARKW, ARKF etc. sometime in 2021/22 timeframe I sold off the positions to limit losses on gains. And rebought at a lower price which has since then made significant losses (I'm at about 10K in total losses just on ARKW and ARKF since 2022, so net net I might be on much lower losses overall). At this point, I'm wondering if it makes sense to keep holding the bags or cut further losses and rather reinvest in a ETF with lower costs, and diversified portfolio like VTI or such? Over the years I've realized that active investing is not my cup of tea, I don't have the time and rather investing in larger index funds like SPY, VTI is more suited for long term gains. But looking to hear opinions from Reddit experts whether to hold or sell?
This was a mix of biotech stocks and some random follow the hype stocks. When I first started trading I bought into bpmx which is now after many reverse splits $TMBR and also bought into $AUPH. Bought in $GSL cause some random thread somewhere said go buy $GSL. Also reverse split like the olympics before I closed out. Was trading a lot of 3xETFs like $JNUG and $JDST. Some other randos I lost on: $HEB $DCTH $STAF $CLRB $DARE My final 8k loss was on a ARKF call
I'm getting tripped up on how the relative evaluation leads to the conclusion that ARKG volatility is more expensive. If RV has dropped for ARKF, shouldn't it be considered relatively expensive since it's implying much more than it's realizing (whereas the gap between what ARKG is implying and realizing is closer)? This was one of the scan filters, after all, so intuitively I'd think a larger IV/RV ratio potentially makes it an even better candidate (contingent on the other elements of your absolute analysis) for the short vol alpha leg (i.e., that its IV may drop towards its RV). Said another way, why do we assume ARKG's IV won't rise to bring its IV/RV in line with ARKF's? Is this based on our absolute evaluation + the fact that it's ARKF'S dropping RV driving its IV/RV ratio increase? How would our analysis change if we saw ARKF had a rising IV driving the ratio increase instead? Really appreciate your attention and hope I'm asking meaningful questions for anyone else who reads.
Yes that could be one of the outcomes but it's not always that straight forward. Another reason is because ARKF is cheap *relative* to ARKG. they could both be expensive in absolute terms, but ARKG is *more expensive*
I remember when everyone on Reddit was like “I’m pretty conservative myself - diversified equal split of ARKK ARKW ARKG ARKF ARKQ and hedging my bet with some bitcoin”
ARKF stocks -- next quarter fintech bout to pop off. COIN over 100 and big moves into twilo hits just right, we about to see see stocks take off. +20% next 3 months 🚀🚀🚀
She has other funds... It's in ARKW and ARKF.
Making a new portfolio. This will be DCA around $10k a month. 40% VOO 20% ARKK 20% ARKF 20% VTI
What’s the 5 year track record for ARKF?
Well ARKF is definitely smart to get out of as they just buy anything techy no matter the price but yeah its definitely worth a look
Now I’m curious as I just got out of my position of ARKF.
I was new to trading and was balls deep in ARKF calls. I made some good unrealized gains but didn’t realize them
Selling my ARKF at 38 points.
ARKW up 43% YTD and ARKF up 41% YTD. It’s all a matter of timing and selling some every time a stock or fund doubles.
ARKW doubled between March and July 2020 and doubled again doubled again by Jan 2021. I sold 1/2 each time it doubled. ARKF doubled between March and Nov 2020 and again in Jan 2021 sold 1/2 each time. Remaking shares are back to what I paid for it. Issue is timing when you buy and selling 1/2 every time it doubles. I used same strategy on Amazon and Tesla. Worked over and over. You may not get rich but your returns will always look good. Don’t be greedy.
Ehh I think ARKF looks better graph-wise than arkk (even though they both look similar)
BREAKING: Cathie Wood $ARKK purchases 1,263,126 shares of $PLTR. This comes after purchasing 4.3M shares last week. The firm has also added a 3rd ETF, $ARKF, to now hold Palantir along with $ARKK & $ARKW. Before selling in 2022, $PLTR was 1 of 2 stocks in all 6 ARK ETFs.
ARKF, ARKK, and the other ARK's have good premium and good prices for wheelin'
Hey not a problem, so in the end of the day I did end up just trading the ARKG side of this trade (no hedge). The reason for this type of hedge is that the two assets are correlated. We see a break in the correlation they typically have in the vol space which can imply to us that 'one side of this trade' is inefficient. ie. we should see the spread between the two close over time. It's what is generally referred to as a relative value trade. Now there are two ways we can use this information. the first (which is what I did) is use it to tell me about where vol should be for ARKG. Assuming arkg is the inefficient side of the trade, then we should see some change in the iv/rv ratio for it to bring it back in line with it's correlated asset(s). The second way that we can use it is to actually hedge the trade. Because they are correlated, if vol picks up on one, it should on the other two. As long as the spread between the two closes, we would make money. I drew this picture to help you understand. [https://imgur.com/MSqKqrc](https://imgur.com/MSqKqrc) Shitty drawing but I'm trying to show that whether vol goes up down or closes in the middle... as long as the spread closes we would make money if we took both sides of the trade. This is different than the iron condor because we are no longer just trading the IV vs RV for ARKG. We are trading the relationship between ARKG and ARKF. I did not do this in this situation tho to be clear. hope this helps!!
What is the reasoning for hedging with a correlated asset, rather than just running iron condors or some kind of ratio of long to short options (skewed to the short side). The trade seems over complicated to me in that sense, but maybe I’m missing something. I’m picturing a worst case scenario possibility of an outsized move on ARKG (exposing you to significant gamma risk) and a subdued move on ARKF where your long options also lose money or not near enough of what you anticipated with the hedge. That part seems like an unnecessary risk to me, but you put a lot of concentration on this area in your post so I’d like to read your reasoning if you have the time.
Lost about 3k on $ARKF calls bought at the very peak in Feb 2021
Biggest single loser for me was probably ARKF. I got in near the post covid peak with a decent sized position and rode it down. I've had other investments lose more percentage wise but that was the biggest chunk of change I burned.
Between this and Coinbase taking a 15% hit her ARKF is not doing so great.
Been almost 3 years watching my 45k portfolio dwindle down to probably 20k (PLTR, ICLN, ARKG, ARKF, NIO). Do I just say fuck it, sell and roll the dice all in on FRC?
Why wouldn’t it be added to ARKF?
Let's just say I know someone who still owns ARKF and G (yes it's me.) At this point it's down a significant amount but I quite a bit regret it. I originally invested in them when I was brand new to the stock market and realize now it wasn't that smart.. question is would you guys sell being down a significant amount or hold and pray?
Blast to the past here I invested in ARKF at 63$ a pop anyone else? I just wanna commiserate I guess
where are the Cathie wood haters/lovers? ARKK and ARKF are both up around 46% YTD!
Besides ARKK, what do you guys think of ARKF?
I think you will have a chance again in the next couple months to buy them back. I like what one poster said about buying something immediately. And maybe get a little less risk and diversification. For example, I sold some SQ, but bought an ARKF which holds a pretty high percentage of it, as well as some other risky assets. As soon as I sell something for tax loss harvesting I look it up in an ETF database ( [https://www.etf.com/stock/SQ#:\~:text=The%20largest%20ETF%20holder%20of,of%20SQ%20to%20their%20portfolios](https://www.etf.com/stock/SQ#:~:text=The%20largest%20ETF%20holder%20of,of%20SQ%20to%20their%20portfolios) ). and try to buy an ETF with heavy exposure to it-- if I still like the stock I am selling. It is amazing how your opinion of something changes as soon as you let go of it though:-)
Purchased 1000 ARKF 95c 1/20/23 at literally the peak Feb 12 2021 after GME squeeze with 1.1M. It lost 97% of value and I closed the position 13 months ago selling these contracts for .30 each. 1M --> 30k and then lost the remaining 30k in options over the past year. 200k in tax write offs for rest of life GG
I have bought what turned out to be junk also. It is really hard to tell what tech companies will make it and what will not. Bio tech is even more risky. I would give up on tech, in fact now is probably a great time to start buying if your time horizon is 5 to 10 years. But buy ETFs. VGK is one I am slowly buying now. I also like VCR. Both beaten down very low cost Vanguard ETFs that will come back. If you really want to get aggressive look at the ARK funds. They have been hammered. I own a little of those too. ARKF and ARKK and ARKG. Risky but much better than Crypto.
another cypto guy getting his feelings hurt, but has no idea how $2 T disappeared from crypto "investors" last year:-) ANyone who immediate throws out the "F&&&" term has no real clue about what they are doing or talking about. Why would I bookmark your comment ? -- There are hundreds more just like you I could easily find on the internet. In fact, that is why the Sam Bankman-Fried find your type so easy to prey upon. You are mindlessly in-love with an inanimate object. Let go of this imaginary powder they call cypto. I think probably in your case you realize that people smartening up is causing your investment in crypto to go to zero and you need to get more clueless people in to keep this ponzi scheme going. My guess is the party is over, at least the one people previously knew of crypto. Go with SQ or ARKF if you believe in Blockchain. And anyone who has to ell someone how great they are, are usually a loser with deeper issues. At least that is my understanding of the "fundamentals."
cypto and block chain I consider to be different. I am talking about all cypto currencies and there might even be 1 or 2 of those that survive in the long-term, but again you are better off going to the casino and trying to make money than pick which of 21,900 currencies will survive. I would concede that Block Chain has promise and a decent way to play it (risky also) is ARKF or SQ. But the big guys MA and V will dominate it once/if it becomes viable. You don't think these huge financial enterprises are just sitting back watching it do you? Buy MA and V or a financial ETF.
I want Fed to raise the rates to 10% so that Cathy Wood would just go away. NEW YORK, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Star stock picker Cathie Wood's Ark Invest sold 403,990 shares of embattled crypto-focused bank Silvergate Capital Corp [**(SI.N)**](https://www.reuters.com/companies/SI.N) on Thursday as shares in the firm plunged more than 40%, according to disclosures by Ark Invest. The selling nearly liquidated the firm's share holdings and came from the $645 million ARK Fintech Innovation ETF [**(ARKF.P)**](https://www.reuters.com/companies/ARKF.P), and not the firm's flagship $5.9 billion ARK Innovation fund [**(ARKK.P)**](https://www.reuters.com/companies/ARKK.P), which does not have a position in the company. [**Silvergate Capital**](https://www.reuters.com/technology/silvergate-capitals-crypto-related-deposits-plunge-fourth-quarter-2023-01-05/) said it would cut its workforce by 40% after investors pulled more than $8 billion in deposits in the wake of the collapse of FTX. Total deposits from digital asset customers at Silvergate fell to $3.8 billion at the end of December, compared to $11.9 billion at the end of September. Ark Invest first bought shares in Silvergate in November, 2019, according to Morningstar data. Shares of Silvergate were down 9.2% in midday trading on Thursday, while shares of the ARK Fintech Innovation fund were up 0.8%.
I bought a thankfully small amount of ARKF in February 2021 at 56.89. I sold it on 1/13/22 at 38.50. It is now at 14.20, 63.1% below where I sold it and 75% below where I bought it. It's bad enough that I lost 32.3% on it. What's worse is that this was all in my IRA, so no capital loss recognized in 2022. BUT at least I got out of the sh\*\*hole I threw myself in back in 2021.
I bought 15k of ARKG and 10k of ARKF the day before the too in February 2021 the day before the top because I thought genome and financial stuff was the future. I got Fucked
Gun to your head: you have to put every penny you own into one of these and hold for 5 years. what do you pick ARKW Next Generation Internet ETF ARKG Genomic Revolution ETF ARKQ Autonomous Tech. & Robotics ETF ARKF Fintech Innovation ETF ARKX Space Exploration & Innovation ETF PRNT The 3D Printing ETF BLLT - Just take your chances with the bullet
FAANG is dead. It is now FUPA - Fubo, Uber, Palantir, ARKF.
Closed $META at 65% in loss just for tax benefits. Sill thinking about to do the same with $ARKF and $ARKQ.
