I believe it is worthwhile making a point regarding this subreddit, as well as emphasize this post is not solely about Tilray (albeit the trade I am going to use in this example was made on Tilray); relax Foodcooker. As evidenced real time on this subreddit, I sold all of my Tilray shares for 9.30CDN shortly after market opening on 1 Apr 2025. I suspected the gain was going to be short lived and was primarily associated with misleading headlines (the standard "Tilray's Record Breaking Quarter"). First lesson I learned in this sector...few read beyond the headlines. In actual fact, Tilray missed the analysts -.14 prediction (-.24). I fully expected there would be a correction once others began to dissect the numbers and Tilray would go negative later in the day. I did the appropriate due diligence...read the Q Report and listened to the conference call. Later that day when I saw Tilray getting hit (-5%) I bought back a subset of the shares I sold earlier as I felt that it was overdone given the strength of BrewDog, Carlsberg, and physical assets. My buy price was 8.60CDN. I shared that buy in real time on this subreddit. Some (very capable) contributors questioned my buyback. What I most appreciated was the respectful dialogue that offered an opportunity to reconsider my actions. In fact, their comments weighed on my decision to make this a short term trade rather than a long term hold. I happen to agree that Tilray has not acted like a company deserving of shareholder loyalty. Tilray's share price went lower that day, and even lower Thursday morning (I suspect that was across the board due to Trump's speech the night before). Then there was the Bondi firing...but oddly (in my mind anyway) the sector seemed to like that. Who knows anymore when it comes to this administration. BTW, I also did a shakedown of all Tilray's physical assets such as its greenhouses in Ontario, Quebec, and BC as well as all of its distilleries and restaurants/pubs. I surmised that Tilray had reached a point where its breakup value is pretty close to its share price. I truly believe the share price is being suppressed as many do not like or trust Irwin Simon. Ironically, I do not believe he is the complete 'shyster' many make him out to be. That is not to say I completely trust the guy, and I do think he is overpaid, but I happen to think there are far worse CEOs in this sector. Irwin Simon is doing what he thinks is best for the company, common shareholders are cannon fodder (welcome to capitalism). I am no longer a "long term bagholder" of Tilray, but do know enough about the company to have a feel for it and will trade on that knowledge. A few months back geologic brought attention to Charlotte's Web. Geo is one of the best contributors to this subreddit. I was tempted to pull the trigger and buy shares, but did not have the time to perform my own due diligence so let it go...only to watch it climb 300% in the weeks after. In that spirit, I will share I am digging into Cresco and am considering purchasing more shares. They are getting some medicare licenses. WRT Tilray, I just read the following analyst report: "We are upgrading TLRY shares to Buy: 1) Core Canadian business is steady; 2) International inflecting; 3) CC Pharma has become an advantageous asset; 4) Beverage category improving; 5) Cost savings from Brew Dog are substantial; 6) Share issuance is slowing; and 7) Cost of capital advantages. TLRY shares are back at July 2025 levels (where mgmt. was buyers). Since then, the fundamental outlook has improved and the potential for regulatory change is greater. We upgrade TLRY from Neutral to Buy and maintain our $10 PT (\~12x EV/EBITDA vs. current \~8x)." Jefferies has an even more ambitious 24USD prediction for Tilray. Tilray eventually closed at 9.15, but I slept very well last night and look forward to an Easter weekend where I am not wondering what's going to happen this coming Tuesday. I see Trump is taking out bridges and other infrastructure and Hegseth just fired the Chief of the Army. Specific to this sector, I surmise there is an opportunity for a "Trump friendly" question to the incoming DOJ: "What is the status of the President's Executive Order directing the expeditious rescheduling of cannabis?" But I also appreciate there is a lot going on (Iran, Epstein, TSA, ICE). I really do not believe S3 is going to drag on to the mid terms. My view (just an educated guess) is this administration is going to look for a few quick wins to justify the ousting of Bondi and to strengthen the narrative she was not getting the job done. Epstein and birthright citizenship are the main issues, but S3 is low hanging fruit for a quick win.

BC publically traded companies can be pretty shifty. I used to work at one of them, had stock options, and pretty much lost them all before they vested. It was a big company traded on TSX and American markets, and the share price went from about 90 to 4 (yes) and then we went through some sales that wiped those tickers and reset back on the TSX (where, of course, it's doing fine and trending up, and of course mgmt wants to get listed on the American exchanges again. Wash since repeat). Looking at Lulu's history, it looks like there's almost always a 20% to 30% run up before the end of the year. My guess is that timeframe is when the compensation dept starts accumulating a basket of stock options to be issued to employees or using some other mechanisms. Upper management probably banks on that and sells out like clockwork and gets a 25% share price bonus. They probably don't care about the actual price itself -- just the delta change in that run-up at the end of each year. I've seen that kind of stuff happen in Vancouver (management just dumps their awarded shares as soon as it crosses some run-up) At 11x P/E, I would think there's not a lot left to squeeze.. but you never know. All I would bank on is that end of year run-up and the watch it dump again. It even did it end of 2025 into the first weeks of 2026 (170 ran up to 230.. over 20%< then mgmt dumped it. And yeah.. you can see they're doing it here: https://www.marketbeat.com/stocks/NASDAQ/LULU/insider-trades/ Q4 is when a bunch dumped. The problem is they don't care about the actual share price. They'll be awarded shares mid year, then just dump at that 25% mark. The lower it goes, the more shares all those guys get and the sharper it'll dump. I honestly wouldn't touch mid-sized Canadian companies because they're just too manipulated like this. You've gotta be part of the inner circle to really benefit or you'll get burned.

WA state politicians have pretty much stated that there will never be enough "political capital" to move bills forward even though there is a lot of bipartisan support and lobbying from moto orgs. Well now let’s not forget, that entire geographical area has been messed with for millennia. It and Saudi Arabia and Iraq… the US has been intervening in the area for 100 years now. I said "largely" prevents because it differs by region. Ontario which is by far the biggest market for HITI has a law that limits Licensed Producer ownership in retail stores to just 25% so there are significant limitations of how much they can produce themselves and sell through their own stores. BC is at 20% in similar fashion. Hence why they did just $5M in those brands- a drop in the bucket relative to the overall business. Nowhere comparable to what Costco does with Kirkland

Actually the excitement about it is ridiculous. BC dropped 50 % or more 7 times in 14 years. Now maybe 8 times. This is just how it trades. It is why it or it´s deriverates/ETFs/Holding companies should not be in the S&P. It will pump again in a year or two, not because it is worth anything, but because it hits a nerve of dumb money.

While I do agree about the US political state being rough for the sector I'd still not rule some companies out. For example IES (Invinity Energy Systems) is a UK/Canadian company which produces grid scale flow batteries and is currently waiting on the results of the UK Cap&Floor as well as the BC Hydro (Canada) tenders. They are mainly focusing on California with their US strategy - I think you just have to pick your battles right with the current administration.

Hey dawg. There's a lot of niche trades out there that don't require years of training and you can start a business in. Not sure if you're the entrprenurial type but thats where a lot of opportunity is. 1. appliance repair 2. locksmithing 3. home inspections (although pretty dependent on home sales) 4. Wood restoration (floors, siding, furniture), tile/grout restoration etc 5. Niche landscape stuff like stump grinding etc Many more. Think niche. Really depends on if you want prestige or money. Also, depending what state/province you live in occasionally things like carpentry and welding don't require 4 year apprenticeships either. Came here to say this too. I am an American who lived in BC for years. You have 6 months to switch the registration and insurance. If you wait until after that and get in an accident your USA plan doesn’t have to pay. You also have 6 months to switch your license. Once you’re back in the USA you have six months. As far as I could tell, it was insurance fraud going outside of the six months.

In BC our only insurance provider lets you drive up 6 months in the US then you need to come back into the province. But it’s very hard to prove so I bet a lot of people will register up here and drive the in Washington if they really want a Chinese EV. Our registration taxes are much higher here though. So it will likely happen more in Alberta than anywhere.

A - You're a day late. When the markets dip sell puts on real companies or ETFs that you want to own. B - BC/ETH isn't real, it's pure gambling. I've been selling puts on JEPQ when it dips. Worst case I get assigned and make 10% from the dividends, best case I close out the puts early for a 15% annualized return.

It matters where they drive it and park it because the risk of a claim changes, and that should change the rate you pay (in an efficient insurance company). In BC at least, with our crown insurance company (province owned, mandantory to use for a certain level of basic insurance and registration) there is a specific question that is asked for this reason. It's if the address that you have with them is where the vehicle will be parked at night (in general). They do let you choose a different address but it can affect the rate (and I'm sure wouldn't fly if it was a US address). You also have to show your drivers licence when renewing/registering so I'm sure that would raise some red flags if it was a US drivers licence because you are supposed to switch to a BC license within 90 days if you live here.
