I'm not an expert on them entirely but I know that they recently acquired BIRD Aerosystems, an Israeli-origin company and its airborne missile-protection/ISR technology into ONDS. BIRD has systems deployed on hundreds of aircraft globally. That seems to me a more meaningful connection rather than simply an incidental customer relationship. I do still hold some defense stocks, but I try to keep ones that are focused on NATO allies (and maybe occasionally selling to Israel/ Middle East) and not doing business with them directly. I did a bit of other digging into it after I realized and can tell you that: I'm a hard no on: Elbit, Rafael, IAI as pretty directly involved with Israel. And I'd probably avoid: LMT, RTX, NOC, GD, Boeing, L3Harris as Israel being a pretty meaningful market for them.

You only read the headlines and not the articles. Allbirds sold all its IP and eqiupment and inventories to American Exchange Group. The remaining shell company was basically sold/converted into an AI company called Smartbird. No leadership from Allbirds stayed on. There was no actual pivot. Basically the BIRD ticket was sold for nothing to other people who started an AI company. The headlines saying Allbirds was pivoting to AI was ragebait.

People think rams and gpus are the future. But they dont realize how disruptive it would be if a big data server falls on someone's feet. It could delay the server installation by hours and cause hundreds of thousands in OSHA fines and fees! Thats why I think $BIRD is the future. They will be providing the foundational wear that will protect future data center installations. For every data center that's build, millions of AI shoes will be needed to build and maintain those infrastructure. The growth capabilities here is limitless. Anyways, thats how I imagined the pitch at the board went. Then everyone clapped.

You aren’t wrong but you also aren’t right.  There were PLENTY of companies that were part of the Dotcom Bubble that survived and became some of the biggest companies in history, like Amazon. Some of the biggest companies in the Dotcom Bubble did absolutely collapse and there were even more that jumped on the hype train to ride the wave because it was the cool thing to do that were pretty much scams but to say “they weren’t making anything” is just plain wrong.  These companies in the Dotcom, Railroad, or AI booms are at war with each other and instead of beans, bullets, and bandages they have money. The money they have and spend the better they will do and they have to do it in order to stay in the fight. They’re in a knife fight and no one comes out of a knife fight unscathed, even the winner.  Did you forget about the fad last year of every company saying the AI buzzword in earnings calls so they would get a bump in stock price? You don’t think there are absolute scam companies or companies riding the wave that really shouldn’t be, like $BIRD? There will be winners and losers in the war being waged between these AI companies, even the biggest ones. The losers market value doesn’t just get absorbed into the winners right away either. As they die it gets scavenged by debt holders or short sellers.  Just look at how NVDA traded flat after smashing their last earnings report. Smashing earnings predictions has become so expected and priced in that the SECOND any weakness or growth slowing down is shown the market is gonna start pulling out faster than someone that thinks that’s a valid birth control method.
