Same I almost “timed the dip” perfectly on many SAAS and cybersecurity companies, by timed the dip I really just mean valuations got too good to ignore and then they happened to recover faster than I expected. I bought BUG early March and it’s up 65% becoming my second largest position. I also bought a ton of CRWD and snow which both doubled and S which is up like 50%. For software I got leaps on TTAN which has doubled, NOW is up like 20%, VEEV up 60%, etc y’all get the point. So it doesn’t seem like too much of a brag post I also doubled down on TTD which dropped another like 60% and SYM in down like 30%.

I have some long options on BUG bc CRWD is such a pendulum.

Mentions:#BUG#CRWD

Most here have no clue how to buy weakness in a high conviction name. Like with software where the narrative just doesn’t make sense. I was posting about BUG CRWD and PANW when the market thought companies would vibe code cybersecurity. It was all laughable.

My only green holdings today were VHT BUG XBI and they are like BARELY in the green 🤮

One of the most important lessons I have learned over the years is don’t argue with the market. The market disagrees with you clearly. Occasionally you get a high conviction trade that is actionable. Like earlier in the year when the narrative was somehow that enterprises were going to vibe code cybersecurity. So i bought BUG. This ain’t it. VST already made its move. It’s pulled forward so much of the demand. And oracle is a debt machine. Way too much leverage. Dont argue with the market. Cut losses and find another trade.

Yeah you're going to the wrong way with way more money. Pump them breaks , slow down, you need a thesis that matches your thoughts/feelings/intuition and make feelings the least important of thee. I'm small time. I only buy 1 of each option to diversify as much as I can with my little capital i have. Recently my 2028 $40 NVO call has done good as well as my biggest bet which is in cybersecurity in BUG. I have a few different strike and exp for bug but all have done well now that we are finally recovering. I'm long in bug though so I might hold a few for a while. Cybersecurity is a MUST ESPECIALLY WITH A.I. Also just sold a DRAM call for good profits as well as I didn't want to test my luck carrying them over into the weekend as they exp this month so took my profits and am looking for my next move. I only just started investing and getting into the market in August so it's been a rollercoaster as you can tell lol. https://preview.redd.it/4tsuz113l70h1.png?width=1008&format=png&auto=webp&s=16e94cfbf6650a75b3dd7bc82335072583bb5bf5

r/stocksSee Comment

The narratives are getting very silly. Take cybersecurity. It’s been crushed. Look at ticker BUG. All these AI agents running actually increases the attack surface. You need more security not less. And corporations aren’t going to vibecode cybersecurity. No serious organization would ever risk their networks to some in-house vibe coded cyber tool. Now in regards to SaaS there will probably be less per seat revenue. Especially if staff are replaced by Agentic agents. And the most basic of tools can be replaced. Like simple dashboards or workflows. What can’t be replaced is the entire stack that you get with something like NOW. I think in the end some of the licensing models will need to change. NOW for example can and will charge for AI agents accessing their tools.

Tremendous help and appreciate the extra effort by charting it out. Sitting on ~20% cash after trimming on this recent ride up and am looking for the next play. I usually stick to stocks for LEAPS and get to know their charts to be comfortable. The problem? They are all up against 52 and ATHs, so I can’t find the room to run. I will watch the video and read your thoughts in the thread. I hadn’t put much thought out into $BUG so I can remove the thought easily. Weary of a Mag7 trade due to froth, but I hear you on safety. I only trade options with ~10% of my portfolio but your process is safe enough to consider in a larger capacity. I’ll start working on a plan and will ask more questions, I’m sure!! Thanks again.

Hi, did I say in this thread how I find them? If not, watch this short [screen capture video](https://imgur.com/a/barchart-etf-screening-VbwTWxy) I did the other week. Barchart is the bomb, but you might have or find another site to do the same thing. And you might not be able to do some of the things I do in the video, because I pay $20 a month for Barchart Premium, because it's well worth it to me. Did you see where I selected the criteria "**Has Options**"? For the most part that takes care of the liquidity question. But I do screen sometimes and find great charts, only to find that their options are thinly-traded. Or they don't have LEAPS. And tbh, the option volume doesn't matter just a whole lot, b/c if options are offered, and despite a wide B/A spread, you'll generally be filled close to Midpoint. And if you don't get a fill you like, move on to the next one. But adding a "**Volume**" filter might help too; 1M is probably high enough to weed out most of the chaff. **BUG**: *Whew! What's going on with its 1-year chart?* All that up-and-down and only up 12% over the past year? And the 6m: why did it drop \~19% from July 10th or so to August 10th? I don't see dividends to account for that. But let's look at the volume: Oh my, only 282k? I'm surprised it has options, tbh. But let's look at those options: Uh-oh: do you see that its expirations only go out to 162 days? By definition, **a LEAPS option is one that's farther than 1 year out**. So you can't do a LEAPS Call on this thing, and I'm out. I was first out when I saw the chart, I just worked through the rest of it for your benefit. I like that you're looking at an ETF over individual stocks, even if I think your reasoning is wrong. I get it, this ETF has a lower cost of entry, but: ***The reason we buy ETFs is because they're safer than individual stocks.*** Yes, I bolded AND capped that, because it's that important. If you don't quite understand why that is, I can explain. **I'd like you to take a look at** ***MAGS***, an ETF that tracks all 7 Mag7 stocks. I've taken the trouble of charting [BUG against MAGS and QQQ ](https://imgur.com/a/vKEBEui)for you.

What ETFs do you find have adequate liquidity to be traded with LEAPS? I like this idea - for example, $BUG is a nice collection of cybersecurity firms. The underlying holdings are expensive, so I can do a bit more with the ETF. Any illumination to your ETFs of choice would be helpful!

What you’re saying is very normal. Most advisors are mediocre. This is true of all jobs. What are the chances you’re dealing with a rockstar in anything you encounter? You should not be surprised if you desire to change. All personal finance is the same. Spend less than you earn, have emergency fund, invest auto (I prefer weekly), sell only when something urgent to pay for, do that forever. A good advisor will get you streamlined. Explain Roth backdoor and what is better. Lots of these answers can happen with chat gpt. The difference is the advisor should BUG you increase and do more. Should financial plan. Have software that shows you what you’re on track for. This is easier if you personally know the guy. It is not necessary to know, but you have to build a relationship. Or else you will always feel like you pay for nothing. Your experience is very common and valid. Just means you find the right one. Having a good advisor is like having a good accountant, or lawyer, or handyman. Most are kind of a rip off, but if you find the right one: life is super better. Best of luck.

Bro you are 23 you have the most valuable asset ever which is time. I would suggest doing $135 a week in a Roth IRA. Invest it strictly into one or two growth ETFs. You are working hard and call the money you saved so far “play” money? It should be the opposite. I suggest you think of this as your “seed” money for wealth building. Time is on your side, so if you invest responsibly this could turn into some serious cash. Not many people in your age group do it. This is the long way of saying: You are asking the wrong question. Here is what I would do if I were in your shoes: I won’t mess with this money and go “boring” with it. Example: 50% VOO, 30% SCHD, 20% BUG (only because I think cybersecurity is going to be a big focus area the next 5 - 10 years) Let this money grow while you find and settle in your big boy job. Ask this question when that happens.
