IKR? Where's Union Pacific? CSX? Norfolk Southern? Those canadian ones I can't remember?
BRK/B is 1 of my 2 core holdings (VOO). I like that with BRK I get: Geico, BNSF, Oxy, a utility, among other companies, with no dividends so funds poured back into BRK, I get a stock portfolio that includes Apple and Amex, tons of cash, Japanese stocks (dry powder bolstered by that yen bond issuance), and a management team that can deal with it all by letting the operators operate. To me, following BRK is like following the US market if investors were tethered to economics and fundamentals. I wish they had bought CSX, though.
CSX sure fooled me....who'd have thought the trains they're running criss crossing my state daily are empty? What an elaborate ruse
Real estate will deflate in stagnation. Look at essentials like energy, railroads/transportation that pass along increased oil prices, some closed end bond funds do well in inflation/stagnation. Ideas? EXE, Expand Energy is the largest producer of LNG in the USA if you can catch it before it takes off like electric power suppliers. Under $108 is a steal. CSX railroad has room to run probably. Under $40 is solid. Leave the beating inflation to the pros at PIMCO with some money in one of their closed end funds like PDI. Dips into 17.42-18 range after the monthly dividend on the 12th and can run up to $20 when under accumulation. Try to average around $18 and you’ll be fine. The dividend is running 15.10%.
The market is rotating out of tech, and gold to industrials, energy, and transportation, financials. So the high beta momentum trades like NBIS, IREN, MAG7, that yolo full port degen thinking is over. Think, GEV, BRKB, CSX, RIO (cherry ice cream smile, I suppose it’s very nice).
BRK has Oil, coke, ally, Kraft Heinz, tbills. I augment it with MO, CSX & GEO.
ELV,health insurance for most americans. TPG corporate real estate, T phone, WEN food. ERIE car and home insurance, RDN mort insurance, and CSX trains

OP if it makes you feel any better I lost 90% of my wealth in 2008-2009. I was in high school and saved $13k from selling candy and having part time jobs. I invested into two stocks ACAS - American Capital Strategies a mezzanine financing company that lended money to various small/midsized businesses (roughly $10-$100 million in assets) and based out of Bethesda Maryland and EXM - Excel Maritime Carriers a dry bulk ocean shipping company based out of Greece (the country). Both proceeded to shit the bed. You have to diversify and buy lots of different companies. Maybe try buying SPY. If not you have to start investing for the long term into some safer companies like: CAT, CSX, ORCL, BX, MCD. Here are a few more: MSFT, XOM, PEP, BK, and RSG. Good luck, you can recover from your losses. If nothing else, just buy SPY (the entire S&P 500), and never sell, no matter what. Set it to dividend reinvest.
While CSX is testing the technology they just ousted Hinrichs and replaced him with Steve Angel. What’s the chances this trail period continues and money/resources aren’t just shifted to more efficiently running the company under PSR.
They started trialing Rail Vision about 15 months ago and they showed off RV’s shunting yard on 2 recent videos that CSX released. That and some of the latest language they’ve used makes me believe we’ll see a contract pretty soon
This is the catalyst I’m waiting for and feel is inevitable as well, feeling within the next 6-12 months based on CSX possible already demoing their tech
Same, waiting on CSX to announce a contract with them. Not to mention all the other rail companies that are involved
How sure is the CSX thing? Even if they do make a contract, they will certainly be secretive about it. They still have not told us who they made the contract with in Latin America.
I believe there is a potential for a catalyst in the near future. That catalyst would be a contract of some sort with CSX. There is also a potential for this stock to be delisted or reverse split but that is far out right now. I bought a while ago believing the contract news would pop and send this to a dollar. If we go to a dollar sooner, I think the contract news could really send this flying.
Railroad stocks moving. CSX calls up 33% today
You and your buddies have convinced me and I'm in with 22,900 shares. I've seen enough companies with worse dilution rise significantly in the last couple of months (most recently ATCH and DVLT) and the LinkedIn video of CSX driving Rail Vision's product around is a very good sign. It's a bit of a race against the clock for good news now with delisting looming at the end of February
Going from hard drugs to Tylenol and focusing on great train stocks like CSX ,which will be $37 before the end of the year!!
Go all in on CSX calls early next year, you’ll be well positioned for the merger announcement lol 😝
Between CSX, Israel Railways, Rio Tinto, Ferromax, Knorr-Bremse etc there's got to be at least one absolutely turgid contract coming down the pipe
Interesting read. I’ve actually been buying CSX stock as well. Might add this to my fidelity account for long term hold
I can't give you financial advice but the post is about investing in RVSN - I believe CSX \*might\* buy wanting to buy RVSN's vision systems. RVSN is a $20 million market cap company so if they get a $5-10 million contract from CSX then they'd go flying. For CSX, their annual profit is $3.5 billion so $10 million is chump change for them but massive for RVSN
Them getting an extension is an immediate de-risking for at least 5 more months. Thus, I see limited downside risk in the near term because [RVSN's liquidation value is $0.348](https://www.reddit.com/r/RVSN/comments/1mygnwl/worstcase_analysis_0348_is_theoretical_shortterm/) and the share price is currently $0.36. Lastly, they have 2 big potential contracts that are cooking: Israel Railways for 600 units (they are an Israeli company, so I'm very confident they'll get this one) and potentially CSX for 800-1600 units. I'd probably sell in February if we had no news b/c then they'd risk a reverse split or delist
So invest in RVSN or CSX? Context: I’m a noobie
Ohhh gotcha. Kept reading CSX. Sorry. Lol more coffee.
It is hard to say since only current employees will know. However, two things: 1. CSX had another vision project for maintenance vehicles that they did a trial for 1 year and then 6 months to get their board to approve it. Currently, we are 1 year 3 months in, so I expect to hear some updates in the next 3-6 months otherwise I'd be disappointed 2. RVSN recently posted a job posting on LinkedIn that says "Focus on end to end delivery of solutions for real world scenario in challenging timeframe", which makes me think they might be transitioning to scaled deployment https://preview.redd.it/7cwfl319xjqf1.png?width=1310&format=png&auto=webp&s=df83589eb5e8d6a9cf2ee26b5e902979637a34ef
We have spotted RailVision shunting yard units on CSX trains, but neither has released any specific PR about it. We expect some type of contract in the next month or two, but who knows.
someone has been buying large amount of calls on CSX everyday ranging from 1-4 million dollars on a single purchase. Starting from aug 27. Minimum of 1M in calls everyday. Someone must know something? Specifically the 32.5 C 6/17/27 hmmm. very odd
SYY, RYCEY, CSX, & URTH are my current non tech stocks. Costco was really good to me for 5 years but sold it to move money into the AI bubble. Im young at 35 so gotta be aggressive.
Really? Why didn’t they take CSX? They are already in the business and would have complete control of W to E coast transports…. I feel like you never know what they are going to do… could have bought Occidental, Sirius Radio…. They own over 20% of those companies… but no.
This is some undercover cop + detective DD. Well done my dude. Rvsn may seem like they’re keeping everyone in the dark for no reason but when the news hit, it’ll be the Year of Rail Vision. I think we close Israel and CSX before 12/31/2025. Then hit the ground running with Latam and Mexico q3/q4 2026. India 2027.
Any TA wizards looking at the CSX chart? Bullish breakout coming?
Today was a better day, though I’m still worried about compliance for them. I’m intrigued by RVSN, but I don’t think I could have two of these horses in my stable at one time. It’s stressful enough looking at my position with IXHL. But if that deal with CSX is legit, surely the stock price gets a huge bump. What to do, what to do….
CSX for those not listening in the back of the room.
Buffet is a trickster. I bet he’s buying CSX
I got back into CSX today after someone sold a bunch of shares and it went back under 35. I'd held it before and sold a few days before, went back to check, and bought the dip. It's not a volatile stock usually so going down more than a point was a big deal.
$CSX has the best possible thing happen to it - partnership with BNSF - and gay bers still sell and drop it back down to $34.
Right after, CSX spikes 50 cents for a second and triggers my stop loss.
Only thing green in my port are my CSX $35 calls that I tried to sell yesterday but stayed under my sell limit. Up 40% today.
0 chance of a NS/CSX merger unless STB rolls over and dies. Total monopoly of the east coast
I was there and I ended up picking CAT and CSX guhhhh
Bought some calls on CSX based off a WSB guess that also made sense to me. Saw CAT and UNH thrown out also. Ended up making some off the speculation but nobody outside of BRK knows for sure and they aren't spilling the beans.
There was a whole post by a guy who bet on CAT and CSX. Some dude was spamming UNH like he was unhinged and he was down voted to sin.
I’m so stupid for not going in on UNH instead of CAT and CSX
On WSB UNH was the most dropped I saw, along with CAT and CSX.
What made you think UNH was reasonable? I bet on CSX and got hosed.
CAT cratered and CSX is down lmfao you cant make this up 😂😂😂😂😂
No update yet. Markets aren't open, CAT weeklies will be a small and expected loss, CSX weeklies might actually print. Other calls are monthlies so who knows, I wouldn't have bought them if I didn't think they could print without news. And thinking you lost because you missed a potential gain is a dangerous mindset, you start chasing gains. Same with full porting, if you thought UNH might hit you should have split your investment.
Went with the Buffett CSX or CAT play....I lost...moving onto my next loss...
"I'm investing around $8K in options based on the news today and the fact that I'm not rich or a degen gambler like some of you. I put around $500 each in weekly CAT and CSX calls because I'm a slight gambler. I put around $2K into monthly CSX options and around $5K in monthly CAT options" 😂😂😂
Honestly I work in the industry. If UP successfully acquires NS. BNSF will have no choice but to buy out or take over CSX in order to stay competitive.
Dang… a well chosen strike of $295c is looking like a 20x at open. I bought CSX calls thinking that was the play. My gut said he would go for the insurance play but I thought the regulatory issues would drive him away and CSX seemed like a more strategic play.
Curious as to why you think CAT would pair better when CSX is literally a railroad and would keep him competitive with the NS/UP merger
How? The government won’t let the other two rails merge unless BRK attempts a CSX buy to form an equal duopoly. BRK is already looking into the acquisition actively based on leaks.
can they buy CSX already my calls need the Buffett bump next
somehow i fuckin made money selling the CSX shares i bought as the buffett bet after hours. basis was 36.20 a share and i was able to get 36.30 for them after hours wow
BNSF is mostly Midwest-west, CSX is mostly Midwest-East. Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern are merging to create a U.S. focused transcontinental network. The only option for BNSF/Berkshire to have something to compete with that is merging or acquiring with CSX
CSX and BNSF have extremely little overlap. They’re not really competitors.
Buffet is more likely to pick John Deere than CSX 🚜
Buffett isn’t buying CSX he’s already got Bnsf
CSX is $35-$36 for the past weeks, but it's at the highest it's been all year after starting 2025 around $31, and had a somewhat recent low around $28-$30 in late Spring after r-trdation day. It's bounced back well.
People who don’t understand the rail industry don’t realize that CSX is the perfect merger candidate for BNSF.
CAT & CSX Buffet probably wouldnt touch BA UNH would be cool but I have no position there
CSX is getting a little hammy
I’ll grab some CSX 9/19 $37.50 calls. Why not.
If it’s CSX, remember he already owns BNSF—reg risk makes a full takeout fantasy, so you’re betting on a stake headline only. I’d turn the monthlies into call spreads or push out 60–90D on CAT so theta doesn’t eat your lunch if the spike fades by tomorrow.
CSX would be my choice over CAT.
If you want a good penny stock with huge upside potential, look into RVSN. CSX has been in a trial with Rail Vision's shuntingyard system and over the last few weeks have released multiple safety videos on their LinkedIn page showcasing Rail Vision's system on their locomotive. CSX would not publicly showcase the RVSN system if there wasn't a contract in the works. This would just be the start of RVSN entering into the US market.
I bet on CSX. I will NOT hold the bag
CMI CAT CSX all because of a random post on here
CSX needs a merger partner. CSX direct actual competitor is NS who is merging with UP. There’s only one other partner left for CSX to merge with to make a competing transcontinental company…that’s BNSF.
The guy that owns BNSF is gunna buy CSX…………. Rigggggggghhhhhhhtttttttt
I don’t think CSX is gonna be the one cause it’s a competitor and wouldn’t get approved for ever. Or maybe even allowed. They like to move fast when they do move to make a long term purchase. Regulations and courts could hold this up. So it’s unlikely is CSX. Since they already own BNSF.
I agree with your last sentence. I wish I had more in my CSX position.
CSX needs a merger parter as their direct competitor is trying to merge with UP. Buffett owns BNSF, the only viable parter for CSX. There’s no way this isn’t a CSX merger buyout incoming. CSX won’t survive without being merged.
I've said this somewhere -- maybe this forum -- but CSX has shed a lot of staff and is primed for this. Stock has been pretty flat though, 35 to 36 range for weeks
The safer play, in my opinion, is Sept 19 calls at just under current price, so $410 for CAT @ $426 BE. I think those are likely to print either way, CAT is on a good run and they've been higher in the past month. I also think this is the most likely acquisition target, but Buffett is known for throwing curve balls. The riskier one is CSX, Sept 19 35 Calls @ 36.75 BE. It's not far to run but it's close to their yearly high and they're not making the same movement CAT is. I think this is the swing and miss or home run, they might print either way but at a much lower cost, if they are the acquisition target, it's big money. I'm probably going to put 4-6K into CAT Sept calls, 2-3K in CSX, and maybe a few Aug 15 CAT calls on a gamble. The high option premium for calls expiring tomorrow makes me think some people know CAT is the target, but that's just speculation.
Ok real play time. Likely going into 1 Month Calls for both $CSX and $CAT around market close. My money says that 1 month calls will print for either, and that we find out Mr. Omaha is buying one. CAT is my guess based on how $CB went down, going in to CSX as a hedge. Might take some CAT calls expiring tomorrow if the price is right.
CSX might be another candidate. Watching that closely
imagine being braindead enough to ever think Buffett would buy UNH when they’re literally broadcasting they’re going to buy CSX and calls are cheap and right there
CSX is my guess based on the recent rail merger of UP/NFS
