Evergrande will affect US investors

Mentions

Good places to start: Metals like gold and copper, gold really only during global political instability though. Wouldn’t hold forever. International ETFs - developed world except U.S.. Country specific ETFs (specifically developed nations in Asia, as the economic center of mass has been shifting for quite some time anyway). European financial ETFs like EUFN. For a one size fits all, whole world ETFs including U.S. would allow you to hedge exposure to U.S. markets with exposure to global markets as well. Individual stocks in aerospace and defense in foreign nations or ETFs like EUAD as the globe has signaled it is moving away from U.S. weapons manufacturers out of distrust and/or high costs

Pay attention to what TBT (short treasuries), EUFN (Euro finance) are doing AH 🤔

Mentions:#TBT#EUFN

VXUS EUFN EPU ARGT FLKR are were my allocations are and they’ve done great so far.

Shorting Europe. Stronger dollar coming. Socialism over there makes them not competitive. Short $EWQ and $EUFN there are others.

EUFN. the world is pulling out of the dollar. EUFN is a euro banks etf. It’s been pushing up for months, for obvious reasons. Easy play.

Upvoting. But let’s cut the crap, what is your YTD? I especially like your point number 5. Basically gotta look at less discussed and owned stocks and lesser known areas of the market, right? Please give some sectors industry groups that you like right now. If you are up 30% YTD I will buy what you are buying. I am very heavy in tech like a lot of people but I’ve been trying to diversify. These are the areas I have been buying: transportation stocks (trucking, rail road). European financials (got lucky with UBS calls and own shares, but if you picked any big names in the EUFN you would have done well). Big US banks and regional banks (just bought TFC), various groups within the health care sector (even the offensive groups within health care like biotech is somewhat uncorrelated to tech). Copper miners and steel stocks. Bought a big basket of oil and energy but that thesis hasn’t exactly played out so well at least yet, refiner stocks worked for a while but then stopped.

I agree with everything you have said. But i struggle with the next step. Is there still room in EUAD and EUFN. I think the next big move will be in power generation. As EU will start to on shore more of their own data.

Yeah so I still hold VOO but new money in is a lower proportion VOO with higher portions going to gold, SPDW, EUAD, and EUFN. I’m more so buying gold to hedge against the dollar continuing to underperform, which buying European assets also does. I’m buying very specifically European defense ETFs due to what I believe to be emerging hesitance to trust the U.S. EUAD is up 88% YTD. I also felt like other countries were losing confidence in the U.S.’s financial institutions and Europe was on sale. So I’ve been buying EUFN which the total etf is up 80% YTD. I’m buying based on my own personal estimation of where the world is and my belief in where it is headed.

Lol ok. Meanwhile EUAD, EUFN, gold juniors, etc..crushing the fuck out of s&p.

I’m an American, and I do carefully watch the European stock market, individual stock ETFs for each country, or EUFN, European financials. You have to pay attention to the relative strength line against SPY to know whether it’s gonna outperform though.

GREK (up 52.6% over past year), ARGT (up 29.8% over year) , DXJ (up 19.3% over yea), and EUFN (up 45.2% over year). These all perform fairly well over past year and past 5 years.

r/investingSee Comment

Given what you said, I'd suggest coupling VOO with IGM (as opposed to XLK and VGT). IGM is broader tech than XLK and unlike VGT (and XLK) it holds not-technically-tech META, AMZN, NFLX and SHOP. Having some SMH on top of that to be heavier in semis is fine too. XLF is a good choice to be heavier in financials. Also check out EUFN as something to consider holding in the current environment.

The guy who manages most of my money has me in solid things like VOO, XLK, SCHG. I swing through my IRA. My current top holdings are EWP (Spain), SPMO (amazing momentum etf), EUFN, VIRTUAL and COF.

I feel lucky to be in brokeragelink. I'm spread out in IAUM, EUAD, EUFN, some real estate shit, and foreign markets. Would suck if I had like 2 mutual funds to choose from (wife's 401k).

Why have I been so obsessed with trying to time the fucking US market in my 401k? God damn EUAD is up 52%, EUFN is up 31% YTD, VOO is down 3.8%. And I'm sitting here getting in and out of VOO like an asshole. All I needed to do to bet against America was buy foreign stocks and chill. Fuuuuuuuuck.

I use an ETF strategy similar to this for 2 accounts I manage directly for myself. The recent market swoon us giving you a very attractive entry point on any total market ETFs. Professional managers have been going overweight in Europe for a few months now. EWZ, EUFN, etc. VXUS has more exposure to Asia. Bond ETFs are on an uptick given falling interest rates.

I'm currently short EUFN and EZU. My thesis is that Europe falls first on huge energy inflation pressures. My plan for US equities is to roll the rest of my portfolio into WMT, TGT, DKS, HD, and LOWES puts targeting Q2 earnings. Discretionary is the play.

I think that higher rates, or even a prospect of rising rates in US will do wonders for EU financials, especially considering recent sell off in this area it might be a good time to expand on this. I really like EUFN, only thing that puts me off is HSBC, which if I remember correctly has quite large exposure in chinese market. On the last point, this might end up being a good thing for the ticker in the next year if the china trend reverses, but IMO it's too early to call.
